It has taken me a long time to get to this chapter. I feel like I'm apologising at every chapter at the moment. Some of you guys know the reason for this one though. I was laid up in hospital for two weeks, after thinking I'd got rid of my so called cold. It turned into some sort of bug that caused me to hit temperatures of well over 100F and a lot of other stuff I'm sure you don't want me to mention. Massive hugs to my family, Jack and his family and all my friends, for their love and attention, and to everyone who has emailed either my addresses or to Jack's with their concerns for me. You guys are so sweet and I love you all (though not as much as Jack for obvious reasons!!) Previously in Life Just Isn't Fair. The last lesson flew by as I really enjoyed it. I met Zack and the guys on the way out of school. "Are you nuts?" Zack demanded. "Why d'you go after Freddie on your own?" I shrugged. "He was on his own as well, and I thought it would get my point over to him better that way." He just shook his head. "You got balls Andy, I'll give you that!" Gaz said. "You up for a PS3 session tonight?" Kenny said to us all. He received a yes from Zack, a no from Gaz who had to visit his gran, and an I dunno from me. "I'll need to see what Jan says." I said. We exchanged phone numbers and I went down to the gate where I could see Oli and Jan. "How was your first day then hun?" Jan asked. "Interesting, definitely interesting." She looked at me quizzically, but realised I wasn't saying any more. I was looking around for Dan, and finally saw him leave the school building via the library corridor. I also saw three of Freddie's gang approach him. I started to move in their direction, but the leader of the three simply handed Danny something and left. Danny saw us, and hurried over to us with a big grin on his face. After a round of hugs, we got in the car, Oli again having shotgun. I leaned into Danny. "What's the big grin about?" I whispered. "They gave me all my money back," he replied. Danny whispered to me how he'd been paying up to five pound a week `protection' money to them for over a year. "I dunno why they have, but they suddenly gave it me all back," he opened his pocket. "Look." I could see a lot of money in there, probably over a couple of hundred pounds. Guess my threat must have worked. I sat back in the car, smiling to myself that I had helped make Danny's life better already. Chapter 25. We rode the short journey home, listening to the radio, to Oli blabbering on about his day, and watching the world go by. As soon as Jan pulled up outside the house, both boys were out the car and off inside. I started to get out, before Jan asked me to stay in for a moment. "Do you know what's going on with Dan?" she asked. "Whaddya mean?" I shrugged. "I've never seen him so happy coming out of school," she said. "I kinda saw him getting picked on by some older kids and I told them to stop," I said quietly, hoping I wasn't going to get Dan into any trouble for not telling about his bullying. "Well, whatever you have done today Andy, thank you." She gave me a peck on the cheek. "I knew that asking Sam to let you stay here was a good decision." We both got out of the car, and I felt like a million dollars (well more like a million pounds bearing in mind the current exchange rate!!) As soon as we walked through the front door I was engulfed in a bear hug come flying leap by Oli. "Unca Sam's here!" he yelled not three inches from my left ear, causing me temporary deafness. I carried him through to the lounge, digging my fingers into his ribs and under his armpits, causing him to giggle and squirm as I held him. Man, it was nice carrying him, feeling his embrace back to me. I felt so wanted. I saw Sam as soon as I entered the lounge. He was talking with Jan, but flashed a smile at me. I grinned back and nodded in greeting to him. "Oli, go get changed," Jan said, taking him off me and leading him out of the room. Dan was nowhere to be seen, so I assumed he had already gone upstairs to change. "Hi," I said to Sam. "Hi yourself," he replied, opening his arms to me. I walked into him and let him hug me as my head rested on his chest. I looked up into his face, which was looking down at me. He pecked me on the lips. "You look so damn sexy in that school uniform you know," he chuckled lustily. I felt myself grow a little down there at his comment, but I knew this wasn't the time or the place. "You just look so damn sexy all the time!" I responded, kissing him back. "How was school?" Man! Talk about killing a moment! I told him about my day, my new friends and the run in with Freddie Jameson. He hugged me tighter. "I didn't know about Danny being bullied," Sam said, somewhat testily. "I'll kill the little shit if he hurts him again!" "I told Freddie to lay off, and threatened him with family involvement if he didn't," I said. "His cronies gave Danny all his money back before we left today." Sam grinned at me. "Carry on like this and you could easily become one of my associates you know!" I felt a little uncomfortable at that as it reminded me of Sam's not strictly legal business, but it soon left my mind as he kissed me full on the lips again. As much as I didn't want to leave the embrace, I had to go and get changed, so I ran upstairs and ripped my clothes off, throwing what needed to be in the laundry and jumped in the shower. No time for self pleasure as I wanted to spend as much time with Sam as I could, before the horrors of homework called. After drying off and getting dressed, I bolted back down and spent time sat next to Sam, while he and Jan talked small talk as they waited for dinner to cook. Eventually Oli joined us, followed by Dan moments before we sat down at the table for dinner. Again, small talk throughout dinner kept things light and as we finished, a complaining Dan and Oli were caught by Jan to clear the table while Sam and I went upstairs. As soon as the door was shut, I was all over Sam, my hands tugging at his shirt so I could feel his strong chest. "Guess you did miss me then kiddo?" Sam chuckled. "Man, course I did!" I whined. "I hate school, although Zack, Gaz and Kenny seem okay." Sam kissed me on the lips again, his tongue forcing it's way past my not unyielding lips. I was in heaven as his hands roamed under my shirt, feeling my naked skin. After a few moments of this, Sam broke off and looked down at me. I was a little flustered after the kiss. "I'm really sorry to have to bail kiddo, but I've gotta run," Sam said, breaking my heart, or at least my hopes for the evening. My pout must have been obvious as he touched my bottom lip with his finger. "I promise that at the weekend, we'll go somewhere and have some quality time together, okay?" he said. I nodded, still upset that we weren't going to spend time together tonight. Sam leaned in, touching his lips to mine, and of course I melted into it, forgiving him instantly. He held me for a few moments, before breaking the kiss. "Get your homework done kiddo, so we have no trouble okay?" I sighed grumpily, but agreed to his demands. I got another kiss off him as he left my room before turning to my school bag and pulling out the necessary books for my homework. I had finished my math, English and geography homework and was started on chemistry when I was interrupted by a knock on my door. "Come in," I yelled after the second knock, still trying to get used to this new privacy thing. Danny came into the room, wearing just a pair of shorts that stopped just above his knees. His upper body looked very nice to my newly trained eyes. Man, he really was a cutie. I then spotted a few cuts on his arm. "'Sup bro?" I asked. He was carrying a book with him and sat next to me. "I just can't get this algebra shit," he complained. "Let's have a look," I said, grabbing his book. I spent the next ten minutes explaining the ins and outs of algebra to him. I don't know why, but that was one subject I could do with my eyes shut. When we had got the last of his problems, he gave me a hug, before picking up his books. "Um, Danny," I started, putting my hand on his naked shoulder. Stop it! It's just a shoulder! "Yeah Andy?" "How d'you get them cuts?" I asked, pointing to the numerous marks on his left arm. He blushed immediately and tried to pull away from me, trying to hide the cuts. I grabbed him tighter, not allowing him to escape, and hugged him into me. "You can tell me anything Dan and I won't judge you okay?" I whispered n his ear. He looked up at me, and I could almost see cogs whirring in his head. "I hate my life so much Andy," Danny sobbed out, tears beginning to leak from his eyes. "Sometimes I get a knife and cut myself and it makes me stop thinking about other stuff, and just the pain of the cut!" He sobbed into my chest as I held him tight to me. Tears were now streaming from my eyes as I wondered how much this kid had gone through to make him do that to himself. "Tell me, please Danny, let me help," I begged. "Promise you won't tell Mom?" he asked. I nodded, knowing that I couldn't say anything different if I wanted him to open up. "I promise." Danny took a big breath before suddenly blurting out everything in one big sentence. I caught some of it, but not all and had to ask him to repeat, but slower. "I don't have any friends, I get picked on at school, and not just by Freddie's gang, I'm ten years old and I still wet the bed, I think that I'm gay, I wanna do stuff with other boys, Unca Sam wants to do stuff with me, and I have been letting him, and I'm so miserable. Mom never has enough time to spend any time with us anymore, and Dad is in prison. You tell me what's so good about my life???" I sat stunned for a few moments, trying to take it all in, when Dan then said a sentence I thought I'd never hear a ten year old say. "I've got some rope as well, and I have been practicing how to tie the correct knot." "NO DON'T YOU DARE!" I almost yelled at him. I felt him flinch at my tone, but I grabbed him tighter and wouldn't let him go, tears beginning to flood down my cheeks. I thought I had been through a rough period, but mine was only recently. "Danny you've gotta promise me you'll never try to use that rope," I begged him. He pulled away slightly to look at me, his eyes glistening with unformed tears. "Why?" he asked. "What have I got to live for?" "Everything Danny, everything," I started. "Let's look at your problems one by one, and break it all down so it may not seem so huge." This was something I seemed to remember a math teacher telling me about long division. Hey it could work here! "I hope that you think I may be a friend Dan," I started. "I think you are a kind, intelligent and very cute guy, who can be really funny and cool as well," I said, ending it with a little tickle just to get a small smile back on his adorable face. "I'd like you to be my friend, Andy" Dan replied, hugging me tight. "Okay, done deal, friends forever," I said and sealed the deal with a small peck on his lips. Friends do kiss each other occasionally don't they? "Next, the bullying. I'm hoping that I have sorted out Freddie and his gang. If it's seen that you are off limits to them, the others should back off." "And if they don't?" "Then they'll have me to deal with," I stated, puffing out my chest in a vain attempt to look butch. This brought another slight giggle from Danny. "The stuff about liking boys and stuff, well I can't really help on that one as I'm in the same situation. All I know is at your age, and maybe at mine, we're still too young to decide if that is how we are going to stay, gay or straight, or maybe both. All I can think of for me is that I'm going to have a bloody good time finding out which way I am." This time a naughty snigger escaped from Dan's mouth. "Maybe I could find out with you?" He said hopefully. Oh boy! I can't crush him on the spot as I'm trying to pick him up from his depression. All I could say was, we'll see. "Uncle Sam, I think will be leaving you alone from now on. I talked to him remember and he said that he would, especially as he has someone else willing to do that stuff now." He nodded, accepting this. "So are you all okay for now?" I asked him. "You missed one, Dan said, reminding me of the one problem I knew I couldn't help with. "Look kiddo, the bed wetting may be happening because of how you are feeling now. If we solve the other problems, this one may go away by itself," I said, using my best poker face. "And if it does happen again, so what! You get up, change pj's and your sheets, and go back to bed. The clothes are washable so there is no damage there is there?" "Guess not," he replied. He squirmed out of my hug and got up to leave. "Thanks Andy, I love you," he said with an expression that melted my heart. "I love you too Danny boy." End of chapter. A bit heavy at the end, but I needed Andy to realise that there are other people with other problems, and that he could help them if he wants to. A bit of growing self-confidence will be good for him as he settles into his new life. Again, sorry for the lack of sex in this one, but the weekend isn't that far away and Sam did promise to spend some quality time with him.
