The smiling form of Keith stared back at us. "Dad!" Matthew squealed, disengaging himself from me and running across the garden, throwing himself into his Dad's arms. "Hey bud!" he said, slapping his back. "Guess what I did today?" he giggled. "Hmm..." Keith pretended to think, "You went to the moon?" Matthew giggled. "Even better than that!" he said. "What could be better than that?" Keith said, confused. Matthew looked up at his dad, still grinning. "I've got two brothers now!" he said, beaming from ear to ear. I stood back up at this and extended my greetings to Keith. He saw me, and beamed from ear to ear. "What's all this about then?" he said. "Oh," I said casually, "It's just a little thing that Matthew, Alex and I have going on." "We're all brothers now!" Matthew piped up. Keith began grinning from ear to ear. "Well," he began, "That is better than going to the moon!" I laughed gently and Matthew extricated himself from his dad. "I love them both dearly." I said sincerely, kissing the top of his blonde mop. "I know." Keith said. "It is pretty obvious!" He spread his arms out. I stepped into them. Hugging me tightly, he whispered "I guess that, since you and Matthew are now brothers, you are my son then." "I guess so." I whispered, hugging him even tighter. He finally let me go and kissed my head. "I'll see you next week, son." he said, clapping my back. Matthew jumped up and kissed my lips again, not opening his mouth this time, but it was still pretty magical. "I'll see you next week." he whispered, running back to his dad. Parents evening was coming up at the end of the month, and our Mondays began gearing themselves towards practising for it. It became ever so slightly repetitive, but the boys were spurred along by the thought of the fun day out that Saturday as their reward for doing well. Val, the slave driver she was, had an extremely specific schedule and we were all expected to follow it to a T. My squad, under my gentle guidance, fell into step quickly. Until Val decided to drop a bombshell. "The Brigade Vice-President will be coming on parents night to present your awards." she said grandly. "But don't worry!" she added, somewhat unhelpfully. "He's a very nice man, and he won't bite!" The boys all began to look scared, until I stepped in to try and reassure them. "Mrs. Dacker is right, guys!" I said, "He is a very nice man." "Have you met him before?" Jamie piped up, in a curious tone. I recalled a firm handshake, a winning smile, some strong aftershave and an excellence in sporting award some years ago when I was in Junior Section at 10 years old. I smiled reassuringly. "Yes, and let me tell you, he wears extremely strong aftershave!" I whispered. The boys giggled, satisfied that he wasn't going to eat them. They returned to their manoeuvres with renewed vigour. Just before the end, pleased with everyone's progress, Val said they could play dodge-ball. Everyone cheered and broke rank. But before the helpers had a chance to get in with the game, Val called us aside. "I'm doing nominations for the Endeavour awards right now, and I need you guys to nominate the boys in your squads who may not run the fastest, be the strongest, or be the most technically accurate, but someone who tries hard." We all nodded our understanding, people already in mind. "I'll give you guys until next week to think about it." she finished with a smile, "Now get back to the game!" I grinned, grabbed a ball from the side and threw it at the nearest pack of squealing kids. As I threw, I realised the one boy in my squad that would be perfect for the award. Someone who escaped everyone's notice, and worked extremely hard in the background without making a fuss. Fergus. Looking over at him, I smiled. He gave me a cheeky grin, before running away from one of Stuart's badly thrown shots. Yes. He would be brilliant for it. Turning back to my boys, I realised that they were still standing close to each other. So I aimed the ball between them and threw. I managed to hit them both, a feat I didn't think I could accomplish. They looked at me, stuck out their tongues and ran off to the side. The game finally ended and another boy who's name I didn't know from Craig's squad won. The prayer came and went and everyone left, including Matthew, who was going to visit his gran. I found myself at a bit of a loose end and, after helping Val pack away everything, I went home early. That Saturday, I was in town with my friends. We were going to watch a movie, and we all split up to get our various refreshments, wanting to avoid the vastly overinflated prices at the cinema itself. As I walked past a jewellery shop, something caught my eye. I looked in the window and saw it. A leather necklace, with a silver sharks tooth on it. I smiled. I knew two little brothers of mine who would love something like that. The little notice said that engraving was also available at no extra cost, and that they had three available, so I opened the door and went inside. The nice old lady behind the counter was a little surprised that I wanted three of them, but was more than happy when I produced my card. Once it went through, she went and busied herself out back for a few minutes, and came back with three, slightly warm, freshly engraved sharks teeth, one with my name on it, one with Matthew's name on it and another with Alex's name on it. "Who are these for, if you don't mind me asking?" she said, handing me the bag. "They're for my brothers." I said, bidding her thanks. The weight of the boxes in my bag made me smile as I met back up with my friends. I don't even remember what the movie was, only how paranoid I was about losing the boxes. That Monday, it was very windy outside, and the boys were somehow even more hyperactive than usual. I had my shark tooth necklace on under my uniform, all ready for the big reveal later on. So we decided to tire them out. We gave them gymnastics, a lot of running about and even a little bit of free-running, administered by me. Being little kids, all I taught them to do was how to land silently, and I made clear that I wouldn't be responsible for how they used it! I asked Alex and Matthew to wait behind for a moment. I went to my bag, made sure I knew which one was which in my hands, and walked through to the small hall. What I found them doing was extremely cute. Matthew was trying to teach Alex how to do a handstand. He wasn't that good and Matthew had to keep holding on to him. "Hey, guys?" I said. Matthew righted Alex and stood expectantly. "Close your eyes and hold out your hands. I've got something for you guys!" I said, with as much whimsy as I could muster. They looked at each other, gasped, squeezed their eyes tight and held out their hands expectantly. I opened the boxes and placed it on their hands, opening them slowly. Fishing mine out of my collar I told them to open their eyes. They looked down and gasped, their faces a picture of joy. I stood, beaming. Alex looked at Matthew, then up to me. "I love it, Grant!" he laughed, pulling it out of it's box. Matthew just stood there, still stunned. "Will you put it on me?" he asked, pouting and holding it out to me. I just smiled. I took it and hooked it round the back of his neck, kissing his neck as I did so. He giggled. I turned to Matthew. "You need a hand, Matthew?" I said. He looked up at me, tears down his face. "It's..." he began, gripping the box. "Just so brilliant." He jumped up into my arms and held me tight. Alex jumped up as well. I swung them around for a bit, and then sat them down on the floor with me. "Look!" I said, holding mine. "I've got one as well!" "We match!" Matthew piped up, hooking his over his neck. "Yeah!" Alex said, still beaming. "It's just a little thing to show we're brothers now!" I whispered, grabbing the two of them close to me. Matthew and Alex looked at each other for a moment. They then kissed both my cheeks, whispered "Thank you." and grabbed my crotch simultaneously. I grabbed their crotches as well and squeezed. They giggled a little bit, but bounded away at the sound of the door opening. Carol and Keith walked in, chatting animatedly. It seemed that they had become friends as fast as their sons, who both ran into them extremely quickly. "Look at what Grant got us!" they chorused, jumping up and down while holding them out. Both Carol and Keith looked at the pieces of jewellery in awe. "Well." Keith finally said, beckoning me over, "It's lucky that you guys have got such a generous brother." "Exactly!" Carol said, "It's amazing that he got you guys that!" "It's nothing, really!" I said, walking over. "I saw it and thought of them." "It most certainly is not nothing!" Carol said, hugging me tightly. "You're the best, Grant!" Matthew said, hugging Alex close. "Do you mind at all taking a picture?" Keith said. "It's just that you all look brilliant!" No one did, so I posed between them, as Keith took a photo. When he asked for another one, Matthew and Alex looked at each other mischievously and kissed my cheeks. Carol and Keith laughed raucously and snapped more photos. After a few more, Carol and Keith both decided that they had to go home. Alex and Matthew lined up, kissed me on the lips, and bounded away to their cars. Carol kissed me on the cheek. "You are a brilliant young man, you know that?" she said. I shrugged. "I'm just doing what any brother would do!" I laughed. Keith hugged me as well. "Above and beyond, son." he said, clapping my back, "Above and beyond!" I watched them go, a warm feeling inside of me. That night, I lay awake till the wee small hours, thinking about those two boys. I finally fell asleep, but my dreams were filled with them. I went to school muzzy-headed and couldn't concentrate. My best mate, Cameron noticed and asked what was wrong. I had never confessed to anyone that I was a boy-lover, and I wasn't sure how my friend would react to it, so I stowed it for another time and made up some bullshit about missing my morning cup of coffee. There are times and places to come out, and the middle of a crowded lunch hall isn't one of them. The rest of the week passed by at a snails pace, until the glorious Monday rolled around again. In my over-eagerness, I ended up at the hall just as Val appeared. She was surprised, to say the least, but I made up some more bullshit about my mum needing to leave the house early, and she bought it. She was actually happy to have an extra helper, and roped me in to bring her stuff into the hall. I was on my second box, and casually looked towards the road as I straightened up. Matthew was walking from one of the far away car parking spaces with his dad, and as I watched, they both stepped onto the pavement and saw me. Matthew waved, and I smiled back. He began running along the pavement, much to the amusement of Keith. I saw the car before either of them. ----------------------------------------------------------- End Of Chapter 10 Any comments/constructive criticism to niceguy0398@gmail.com Check out my other story "Highland Flings": http://www.nifty.org/nifty/gay/camping/highland-flings Nifty needs your help to stay alive and continue delivering wonderful stories, so donate what you can. http://donate.nifty.org/donate.html
