They would work longer hours some days and so he would come over to my place after school before they got home from work. I would help him with his homework. Ever since my wife died, it had been great to have the company. I would help him with his homework and keep him entertained until one of his folks came over and took him home. Occasionally they would stay over for dinner, and we'd have a great time. I felt like part of the family. One day Eileen came by on her own and knocked at the door. I brought her to the table and offered her a drink. She told me they'd had some bad news. Mark's aunt had passed away suddenly and they had to go away to help his family deal with that. They asked me if I could look after Eric for a week while they were gone. It was the school holidays and they didn't think it fair for him to miss out on a chance to relax from school while they had to deal with all the stress and grief with the family. I told her that was not a problem at all. I then had an idea. "You know, Eileen," I started saying, "a friend of mine has a holiday house up the coast he's been telling me I can use whenever I want. What if I took Eric up there for a couple of days to get his mind off things?" "Oh, I really wouldn't want you to go to too much extra trouble, Rich," she said, "Mark and I are already so appreciative of everything you've done for us." "Nonsense," I said. "It's no trouble at all, Eileen. We're practically family now and I probably would have gone myself." "Well, I'm sure he would enjoy it. Look, if it's really no trouble..." "No trouble whatsoever." "In that case, I'll go pack his things." Eileen and Mark brought Eric over and we got in the car and headed up on the drive. We got to talking along the way about how life was treating him. He was 13 and things were changing all the time. I could barely keep up with what the youth of today did. I just listened and asked questions. We'd made good time on the drive. It really didn't take as long as I'd expected. We got to the little cottage and got settled in for the night. We had our dinner and I made sure Eric brushed his teeth before bed. He asked if we could stay up and watch tv but I told him he needed a good night's sleep after the drive. He said goodnight, went to his room and shut the door. The next day he was up with the sun. I got out of my bedroom and wondered into the kitchen. I made us some breakfast and asked what he wanted to do today. He said, "I don't know." So I said we should go to the beach. He got really excited and stood up to get his things. I told him he had to wash up first. He seemed annoyed but I told him the sooner he got on with it, the sooner we could get to the beach. I started packing my things when I saw him at my door. He was dressed for the beach and had his backpack ready to go. I asked "towel?" "yep." "Swimmers?" "yep." "Sunscreen." "Oh." "Put it on now, your mother will kill me if you burn." He went and applied sunscreen. I got all my things ready and by the time I got back to the living room, he was ready to go again. We walked out the front door and down the road. There was a path that led to the beach. It was so peaceful. Beautiful to be here in the great outdoors. It felt like a 20 minute walk or so but Eric was impatient. He really couldn't wait to get to the beach. Once we got there, there were only a few people there. Just a couple of families really. The beach was really wide, we could go anywhere we wanted. We walked a little further away and I set up the umbrella. We laid down our towels and then Eric asked where he could get changed. "What's wrong with here?" "We're outside!" "And? No one is looking. Just get changed quickly, you'll be fine." He seemed confused but bent down to look through his backpack. I started getting changed. I dropped my pants and underwear and then slipped on my black speedo. I looked over and realised Eric was looking at me changing. I just smiled back at him. He realised he was staring and then kept rummaging through his bag. He got really frustrated and stared whining until I asked, "what's wrong?" "I left my swimmers back at the house!" "Oh, that's fine. You don't need them." "But I want to go swimming, Rich!" "Yeah, but those kids aren't wearing any, Eric, you can just swim in the nude." "But they're like 6!" "So?" "I can't just swim naked on the beach!" "Why not?" "Because I can't, ok?" "I don't see what the big fuss is. Do you want me to go over and ask their mother if they mind you being naked too?" "NO! Please don't Rich." "Just relax, I'll ask and then you can decide what you do." I walked over to the mother of her kids playing in the water. I introduced myself and pointed to Eric saying my 13-year-old grandson had forgotten his swimmers at the house. I figured it was easier than saying my neighbour's kid. I said he was a bit nervous but wondered if it was ok if he also swam naked, since her kids were. She laughed and said of course not. I smiled and said, I told him it wouldn't be a problem. I walked back and told him. He blushed. I told him he was allowed to swim naked if he wanted but it was up to him. I then said I was going to go to the bush for a piss and that he could do whatever he wanted. I walked over to the dunes at the back, relieved myself and headed back. I watched Eric standing, looking at the water. He'd taken his shoes off and his t-shirt. He then started pulling his shorts down. He stood there in his little white briefs and kept looking at the water. I walked back and asked how he felt. "Excited." "You gonna go for a swim?" "I'm .... Scared." "You want me to come with you?" "Sure!" "Are you ready?" "Do I have to take my undies off?" "Look around, Eric. Nobody's watching you." "Well why don't you take your swimmers off, Rich?" "Would you do it if I did?" "Maybe?" I looked over and realised that that nearest family had moved on. We really did have this corner of the beach to ourselves. So I slid my speedos down and put them in my bag. I looked at Eric and said, "There we go. Your turn." He then pulled his little white briefs off and put his hand over his crotch. I laughed and said, "you think I haven't seen another dick and balls before! Come on, don't be shy" and I ran over to tickle him. He ran away from me laughing and we played this little game until all his embarrassment had disappeared. I then told him we should go in the water. And off we ran to the water.
