Chapter 5

Hunter was right. The day was a little chaotic, but it was not too bad either. He arranged everyone to start coming the following day to deliver and setup everything, and they were all good with that. His next call was to his lawyer, and he said it would be shockingly easy to take care of that, but would be better if they could get a hold of Teddy's parents, so Hunter gave him that information, and he said he would call when it was all taken care of. The SPCA had several farm animals that they were hoping to place, two horses, a small herd of goats, a sheep, two pot bellied pigs, and a llama. Hunter asked how much they wanted if he bought all of them, but that they would have to deliver them, since he does not yet have a livestock trailer. He was told that he could have them all for two thousand dollars, so he bought them right away. His website designer was a fast call, and within only minutes the site was online and would start advertising for him.

Just as the furniture was pulling in, the SPCA called and said they are on the way as well, and then, an hour later again, while Hunter and Teddy are trying to direct everyone to where they need to be, his phone rang again. This time, however, it is not a delivery.

“Hi, my name's Andrew, my son Harley gave me your card and told me I should call you.”

“Oh, it's good to hear from you Andrew, yes, I told Harley to have you call me. Has he told you anything of himself yet?”

“No, not really, but it's not really necessary. His mom can't see it, but that weekend with your nephew finally made him realize who and what he is. Thanks for allowing them the privacy to do so, he needed it. I just hope his mother doesn't realize it.”

“Same. Now, while he was with us, Harley said some things that were concerning to say the least. Are you free to talk right now?”

“Yes, I don't have any patients right now, and the nurses don't usually come in my private office.”

“I think Harley needs to come live here, and you could too if you'd like. In fact, your skills could be perfect here. I'd be happy to give you free room and board if you'd take care of my animals. Hunter had separated himself from Teddy as soon as he had known who it was on the other end, so Teddy did not hear any of the conversation, so that is good, Hunter did not want to get Teddy's hopes up too much.

It took everyone several hours to get everything unpacked and put away and then cleaned up, but when the SPCA arrived, they offloaded pretty much right away into the paddock and then were gone with the cheque that Hunter wrote out for them. Hunter and Teddy went and greeted all the animals and they were all skittish for a while, but, eventually, they came around and allowed the two of them to pet them all. The fenced in paddock for the animals to roam around freely is almost an acre just by itself, and the fencing is small enough so that even small animals cannot escape. “Sure was, but I bought so much that he did give me pretty good deals. “Wow, so it's all totally local then.”

“Exactly, whenever possible, I use only locally sourced material and labour for everything. Same when I'm buying groceries and whatnot, whenever possible I get it from as close to home as possible.”

“I prefer to support the people around me whenever possible, it's best for everyone, and even if it costs a few dollars more here and there, in the end it makes everyone happier.”

All the furniture is very nice though, although it is simple, because Hunter does not like flashy, it is all done with perfection, and everything in the house is nice and large, because the house is large. The dining table will seat twelve, each of the two couches will seat five or six, then there are all the chairs as well. They too are very nicely made and are comfortable. The desk and chair in the office are nice, and Teddy loves the bedroom suites as well.

They cleaned up their mess quickly, then headed to the living room and started opening boxes and pulling everything out. From there each item has to unpacked and all its packing materials set aside, and any instructions also set aside. As each item is unpacked, they are taking it to its approximate home. Kitchen things are just being set on the counter, same in the bathrooms, bedroom things on the beds, and office stuff on the desk. The living room stuff they are pretty much putting away as they find it though, since they are kind of right there and it is easy to do. All the stuff that is to go down to the cabins, though, is being set by the door to take down there later. Tomorrow, or over the next few days, they will get everything else put away.

By the time they have everything unpacked and set aside where it needs to be for now, they are both getting very tired.
