I had an emergency call in," Kevin Spangler replied. "Chad Barr's dad's partner was taken to the hospital. He asked me to step in for him." "Steve Clark?" Michael asked. "Know him?" "Know him? Why Steve and I were two of the first residents moving into the area when this was a little, sleepy town. I know him like this," Michael holds up two fingers as if taking a Boy Scout oath. "Really? Did you two....." "Friends, Kevin!" "I know.. I know.. Just pullin' your chain. Anyway, sorry I can't hang around here today." It then dawns on Michael, "Hey wait a minute... correct me if I'm wrong but aren't you a `distributor' for Barrs & Bridges?" "Well yeah, but I'm like doing Chad a favor. You see, Ethan can't be there like pronto so I'm going to help out for only an hour or so." Kevin reconciles with, "But tomorrow I'm all yours til I leave regular time." He added a smile. "It's just as well. I have a million things to do anyway." "Oh by the way, Michael. How's that hot fireman working out?" "You think Thomas is hot, do you?" "Hot and cool. Did you notice how he seems to gravitate to the kid on your waiter's staff?" "Jim Faulkner?" Michael makes the correlation between face and name. "Yeah I noticed." "Well you think they have something going?" "Jim is eighteen years old. Thomas is like twice his age, Kevin." "So what? You're like a year older than me?" He smiled. Standing in front of him, Michael says, "Yeah and too damn cute for your own good!" "Hey! What're you doing? I just finished buttoning that up," Kevin looks down at Michael's fingers busy at work unbuttoning his shirt. Standing there he did nothing to discourage Michael. Only watched. Between watching both his own hairy chest appearing through the white fabric plus that of Michael's barechest, the feel of hands gave him quite an erection. "If you don't stop it you're going to have to keep going right on down!" "Hmm," Michael replied, one hand slipping down. "Looks like it's unavoidable." However instead of bothering with totally undressing Kevin, he slipped his hand down between belt and stomach. "Except I wouldn't want to make you late to work!" Didn't matter one way or the other. It didn't take long before Michael jacked Kevin off, helping along with him shooting his creme inside his briefs with his other hand alternating, tweaking Kevin's nips through the dense chest hair. It was sweet, real sweet getting off before going to work. But it only made Kevin a little later, having to take his dress slacks off, strip his wet briefs, wipe the cumjuice from his hairy pubes and stick his legs through the holes of another pair of pants. "I checked," Michael said when Kevin searched the zipper area of his dress slacks for moisture. "Not a spot on them." "Great," Kevin replied as Michael handed them to him. With small chat, Michael comments, "It's good how you can be so versatile, Kevin." "You're kidding right?" "I `meant' your regular job as a distributor and being able to pitch in to open the store." "Oh," Kevin replied, switching his thoughts from gay sex roles to the workforce, "I knew that!" "Right, Kevin. Sometimes you've got a one-track mind, you know that?" "Yeah. Adds spice to life, huh?" "I'll spice you up!" Michael replies. "Now get out there and knock'em dead." "How do you mean that?" Kevin responds, leaving room for Michael's thoughts to develop. "Never you mind. You better get going before you change Chad's mind about you being such a responsible person!" Michael added a swat on the ass along with a goodbye kiss. I can just hear it now, one of my employees waiting at the door," Kevin changes his voice to a high-pitch, "'Why are you late Mr. Spangler? We've been waiting like half an hour for you!'" "Are you going to tell them the truth?" "Of course I'm `not'!" Kevin says, giving Michael a quick peck on the cheek. Michael asks, "I don't know how I'm going to get through the early morning without you around." "Fly on your pent up emotions!" Kevin says with a wink. After leaving, Michael flopped down on the bed, his hand immediately taking care of his `pent up emotions'. % "I am so sorry I have to cause you all this trouble, Mr. Bridges." "You can call me Matty," he said to Alac Davalos, "It's no problem rescinding your application." Then stopping his computer search, Matty inquires, "Stop me if I'm getting too personal, but is there a good reason why you've decided not to rent the old Tolbert's Department Store? Last week you seemed so `gung ho' about renting." Everything had been draining Alac's energy from him, at first Davide's discovery of living with him in the dorm, then the case with social and family services and the verdict to place Davide in a foster home. He was very fortunate Officer Sanchez stepped forward and offered up his farm to temporarily tend to his brother's needs. He didn't know much about the police officer. He decided to take a gamble. "You have lived here a long time, haven't you?" Alac put it to Matty. "Just about my whole life!" Matty responded, sitting back in his swivel chair and parking his hands behind his head. "By chance do know much about the police department?" "Do I know much? Like what would you like to know Alac?" Matty questioned him back. "There is a police officer, Riley Sanchez. What do you know of this man?" Alac set his words carefully in place. "My mom would be more able to assist you, but right now she's busy helping out a friend. But I tell you the truth, she never had an unkind word to say about him. True, sometimes he bends the law and works things out his way, but generally he's a good law abiding citizen. Him and my mom kind of grew up together. They know each other pretty well. If you want I can give you her cell number?" "No. That won't be necessary," Alac replied. "I accept your word." Curious about all the `hoop-tee-do' over Riley, Matty did have a longing to know why a college guy had such an interest in Riley. Matty knew for a fact if somebody had something to do with Riley it had to be something special. Either it meant he was working for the individual or against him. He hoped it was for and not the other way. "Thanks," Matty replied in regards to Alac's trusting way. Just then the electric kicked out. "Dam that Army Core of Engineers!" Matty cursed. Fortunately it was a sunny morning, unaffecting the lighting in the office, but causing havoc to anyone wanting to use the computers. "I suppose I shouldn't be so hard on them. After all someday we'll all thank them for the ditch they're digging." It was obvious Alac didn't know what he was referring to, him asking, "Ditch?" "Oh, well you missed the whole thing. This past spring we had a... a... I don't know what you call it... a mudslide? Anyway it rode the town out, destroying some homes, businesses.. made a real mess of half the town. It's the reason you see so much construction downtown. You know the circle of flowers the kids planted this past weekend?" "I know of it. It is very pretty, but I did not know children planted it," Alac supplied his knowledge of the circle which sent traffic around, breaking off roads in four sections, a permanent rerouting of van Dusen Blvd. "You have a son right?" Matty mistook the relationship between Alac and Davide. "My son, Jeremy, is a friend of his at school." "Davide is my brother," Alac said, smiling. "I know he has lots of friends. They are all very nice. I suspect they come from nice families." Matty liked his answer. Now that is was out in the open he felt free to inquire, "So where is it you and Davide live?" Also being in the real estate business, part owner of Bridges Reality, Matty knew every inch of town. Very reluctant to say anything, Alac sat in silence. That is until a familiar face walked in the door. "Matty, I have a few questions.... Alac?" "You know each other, Eric?" "Why yes. I just represented Alac this morning in court." Saying more than he had to Eric says, "I think it's a nice thing Riley is taking Davide to live with him til you get your feet on the ground," he directed to Alac. Sitting back in his chair, Alac and Matty exchange deep stares. "Oh. Sorry," Eric Danziger says. "There I've gone and opened my big mouth. I suppose you wanted to keep this confidential." Still Matty and Alac didn't speak, Eric picking up the slack, "But you have nothing to worry about with Matty Bridges. He can keep a secret, can't you Matty?" Finally Matty replies, "If I knew any secrets to keep!" Breaking off their quiet stares, Matty smiled as he addressed Eric, "Um, is there a reason for your being here, Eric?" "Oh yeah. I'm handling the closing of the old Barr & Bridges store for Tristan Harczstark?" "Name sounds familiar," Matty says. Turning to his computer, he gets his hands on the keys, once again cursing out the Army Corps of Engineers. Laughing it off, Eric says, "Yeah, they've got half the businessmen's association up in arms over the power failures lately. Don't let it get to you Matty. I hear it's only temporary." "Like how long before it ruins everybody's business?" "Oh come on Matty," Eric rubs the twenty-four year old's shoulder, "if your mom can withstand all the trials and tribulations from over the years you can too." "I suppose. Well nothing I can do for you now, Eric. Hey, how about the three of us head over to Birdy's for a donut and some coffee?" "I think you better count me out," Alac appeals. Knowing the reason, Eric replies, "Good idea Matty and it's on me!" This time it was Alac and Eric exchanging eye contact, Matty sensing something but not sure what. % "You are so lucky, Davide," Aidan says at lunch. "Yeah," Philip agrees, "Do you know how many horses Riley Sanchez has?" "I don't even know how many he has," Seth speaks up. "How many does he have?" Philip, not knowing a number, rounds it off, "He's got to have around forty. It's a ranch, isn't it?" They all accept his logic, when in reality his barn can only accomodate ten at the most! "No good if I can't ride them," Davide says. It put a downer on the subject, which in turn made reasons why Davide should be happy he's going to live on a horse farm. Diego comes up with the brilliant idea, "Maybe he has a wagon. Horses can pull wagons you know?" Reviving the conversation they went off on tangents, talking about stagecoaches, then the care of horses, Davide finding a use for himself, grooming, Seth throwing in, "You can still pitch some hay from sitting down. Right guys?" They seemed to build each other up from this point, making Davide feel good about his temporary living arrangements at Riley's farmhouse. The most important thing to them, this day, was having Davide among them and not as Mr. Cahill informed them yesterday that he would not be in school. It also lent to distressing news escaping Philip's and Aidan's minds. % "So, what's Steve's prognosis?" Barry asked Dr. Scalia. "Went and busted his appendics," the feisty doctor put it. "Give him a week and we'll have him out of here and back on his feet." "So there's nothing to worry about?" Her smile, the way she joked made him feel good about Steve's full recovery. When asked to see him, Barry still had to be patient waiting out Steve's `wake up' period from his surgery. "Hey dad," came the voice from over his shoulder, that of Tom. "Aren't you boys supposed to be in school?" he addressed Tom, Eric, Mark and Jose. "We sort of cut out," Eric said with a smile. With a smirk on his face he addressed the only female, Tom's girlfriend, "And I suppose they roped you into this Penny?" "We had to use somebody's car to get here!" She made known. Then switching subjects, "How is your.. um partner doing?" "Good." Then he informed the lot of Maria Scalia's diagnosis and recovery information. Representative of the group, Tom, his arm over Penny's shoulder asks, "When's he coming home?" "I suspect by this weekend, which means you guys are in charge of waiting on him hand and foot?" Barry put it. Just as he thought, Eric asks, "What about Max?" Saving the day, rather a tongue lashing, Jose says, "I can help out. I'm used to working in a hospital. Remember? Sure. It'll be no sweat. Me and Mark can take care of him. Right Mark?" Mark would rather have been taking full care of Jose, but the eighteen year old replied, "Sure. It'll be cool." "I always knew you had a soft spot, Mark," Jose said. Eric joked, "Yeah, between his legs!" "Um, Eric?" Barry countered. "There's a lady present?" "Oh don't worry about that Mr. Barr. Nothing different than what gets thrown around everyday in school." "Oh really?" Barry questioned. Then thinking about it, things hadn't really changed all that much. Happens with each passing generation. % "Thanks for dropping me off on campus," Matt thanked Thomas. "Hey, you forget something?" Thomas said, waiting as Matt dropped his ass back in the carseat, leaned over and made lip contact. As he watched Thomas drive away, it wasn't only his lower half feeling tingly all over. "So how did the party go at Jim Faulkner's?" Matt was taken by surprise. "Oh hi Tony. It was cool." "Do a lot of kinky stuff? Like get cuffed to the bed? Get any dildos stuffed up your ass?" Matt smiled, a ploy meant to make Tony think all those things did occur. However he then informed him, "I met a guy. We left the party." "Oh really? Care to elaborate?" As they walked to class, backpacks slung over shoulders, Matt filled him in on the `kinky' weekend which amounted to something more normal than bizarre. "Hmm, so you scored big, huh? Got both a sausage up your ass and a boyfriend too?" "He's not only out for the sex." "Serious are you two then?" Tony inquires. "I think we might have something going," Matt tells him, holding the door for Tony to go in first. "When are you getting together?" "I'm meeting Thomas after work." Tony asks, "He's a fireman, right?" "Yes and no. For now he is, but works a little more than part time at Birdy's cafe... I mean restaurant. He was just promoted to manager of the service staff." "Nice. He gets to check out all those hot waiters, huh?" "He's not like that Tony." Seeing he hit a raw nerve, Tony backs down, "Sorry. I guess I'm a little out of line here. So you two had a good time last night, huh?" "Yeah. But one thing kind of bothers me." "Oh? What's that?" Right before entering their psych class, Matt confides in Tony, "He's like twice my age. Do you think it matters?" "Thirty-eight huh?" Tony does the math. "Thirty-seven, but still...." "You got along right?" "Yeah. I think we're compatible." Deviating, Tony says, "Well knowing your thirst for cum, I hope he's a total top!" "I thought you were being serious, Tony?" "I was. I mean.. Never mind what I said," Tony changes his line of thought, seeing the possibility Matt has met his Mr. Right and not Mr. Right-now. "So you met at Faulkner's party. Is this guy into kinky stuff? I know it could turn you on." Smiling as they took seats next to each other, Matt tells, "Strange thing, we were there for that particular reason but it turned out where we didn't do any of that stuff. We left and went to his place and had a regular good time." Tony wanted more details, but when the professor called the class to order he knew he would have to wait til another opportunity arose. % "How about this color?" Juan looked at Riley as they cruised the paint samples at Barberio's hardware store, voicing his opinion, "We're painting the room for a ten year old boy, not some college jock wanting to be owned, Riley!" "Oh," Riley replied, putting down the six different shades of black, filing each one back in the place it came from in the rack. "Funny you can be so neat here." "And just what are you insinuating Juan?" "Included in the dust bunnies under the bed I found a pair of briefs an odd sock and a tin plate with your name on it?" Snapping his fingers, Riley replies, "I wondered what happened to it! It didn't get scratched did it? Maybe I can still use it." "The point I'm making is since Davide is coming to live with us we've got to set some good examples. Like not kicking your briefs under the bed?" "I didn't kick them under the bed," Riley defended himself. "Then how did they get there? The dust bunnies didn't steal them!" "Dust bunnies don't wear underwear!" Changing the subject, Juan says, "Here, we're getting this color." "Don't I get a say in the matter?" Riley asks. "No," Juan replied. Smiling, Riley felt kind of cool being ordered around like some `wife' taking orders from a `husband'. Following Juan he hauled the two cans of Dutch Boy up to the counter. "Um, you plan on spending my whole paycheck?" He joked when Juan took a pan used for a roller and filled it with all kinds of painting apparatus. "When I start earning one I'll give you half. You have a ladder handy at home?" "There's one in the barn." Thinking about it, Juan pictured in his mind the twenty foot one which extended up into the loft. He picked out a sturdy metal one which unfolded into an upside down `V'. "And how much is that?" Riley asked, concerned about depleting the funds in his wallet. Standing there, resting an arm on the ladder, Juan asks, "How much would it cost to replace the ladder in the barn after I sawed it half so we can fit it in the house?" "Come on. Bring it here," Riley said. "I get your point. Anything else?" Of course he was joking, but ate his words when Juan disappeared into the store. Sal Barberio appeared, a `bear' of a man, complete with goatee. Appearing at the checkout, he opinionates, "I guess we know who wears the pants in this family!" Putting on airs, replying his tough-cop demeanor, Riley asks, "How about I get my electric shaver and make your body smooth?" "Hmm... could be erotic but no thanks. My boyfriend likes my `bear' appearance." "If I hear any rumors, your boyfriend's going to be out looking for another bear!" Of course they joked about it. Somewhere through the years the two have had the fortune of attending some party where the party-goers had stripped down to nothingness, Sal and Riley doing more than rubbing elbows. "What tha hell?" "Not only was I sweating it out in the barn today, I had it in mind to dress up some of the windows of the house. Good thing I included the measurements of the spare room." "Good thing you draw a healthy paycheck," Sal says to Riley standing there, mouth gaping open at the armfull of curtains and curtain rods sticking out of Juan's armpits. "I had no idea you could be the little homemaker," Riley says to Juan. "You don't think I'm going to live out the rest of my life in that drab shack you call home!" "Ohhh," is all Sal said as he went to work with the scanner in his hand, running it over barcodes. "Not a word, Sal. Not a word," Riley said to him. "I'm not saying a thing. Not a single thing," the bear replied as he passed curtains, rods, hooks, cans of paint, brushes, the pan across the counter. "Um, want to lift that ladder here so I can scan it?" It took one hand for Riley to lift the step ladder. "Oh shit!" he called out when he took a peek at the register subtotaling, it reading an instant $212, then registering $315 after the step ladder was added. He was about to get another shocker when he saw Juan returning to the register, boxes loaded on his arms higher than his head. "What's all this shit for?" "Get with it Riley. What're you going to do? Have the kid opening a can with his teeth?" "Okay. An electric can opener but what is all this other shit for?" Sal just smiled, flipping over the blender box, running the scanning gun over it. "A hundred and ninety-fuckin' what? For a stoopid blender?" "Yeah, amazing how much things cost these days, huh Riley?" Sal said comically. "I'm sure you're not suffering, Sal. After this order you'll be able to retire!" Then looking around Juan again had disappeared. "Where'd the hell he go now?" "I think he's checking out the major appliances!" Sal replied, laughing his ass off as Riley hightailed it over in the direction of the Whirlpool sign hanging from the ceiling. % Copyright 2008 T.
