The boys were still in Daniel's bed. Nick turned to his side so that he could look at him. He reached out and tenderly touched Daniel's cheek. The boy's faces were just inches apart. It was an intimate moment, the kind that Nick enjoyed after lovemaking. Nick tilted his head closer and rested his forehead against Daniel's. They looked deeply into one another's eyes, and then Nick looked away. "Mitch was there," Nick whispered. "At the meeting with your mom?" Daniel asked gently. Nick moved his head `yes.' "Mom was scared. I could see it in her eyes. It must have been hard for her." "What happened?" "She had everything she wanted to say written down on a crumpled up paper. It looked like she must have scratched things out and then tried writing it again and again. She kept her head down as she read it to us." "What did she say?" Nick was silent for a moment. "She said her dad had been a drinker too. She grew up being yelled at and beaten. She wasn't trying to make an excuse, I think she was just trying to explain." "Did you ever meet your grandparents?" Nick shook his head, `no.' "She said she felt so lonely trying to raise two kids without any help, that she took a drink to try and feel better. She also said that was the reason she had so many guys come over." Tears started to fall from Nick's eyes. "She apologized to Mitch for not being honest with him. She said he had a right to know the whole story." "What did he say?" "He said that he liked her and that he thought she was pretty, and smart, and wanted to be there when she got better." "Wow, that's great!" Daniel whispered. "Then she apologized to me for all the bad things she did, the way she neglected me. She even apologized for everything that happened with Ronnie. That's when she told me about his letters." Daniel put an arm around Nick and drew him closer. "That must have been hard for you to hear." Nick sobbed softly and burrowed his face into Daniel's shoulder. "You just have to help me find him!" Daniel rubbed Nick's back and touched the back of his head as if comforting a baby. "I'll call my dad if I have to, we'll find him, I promise." Nick lay in Daniel's arms a bit longer until there just wasn't any time left. "We have to go." "I know," Nick said softly, "I just wish we could stay like this forever." * * * * Dressed and freshened up, the guys headed to the car. Daniel carried Nick's backpack, and Nick had his skateboard. Daniel watched Nick as he walked down the stairs and noted he seemed to be more complex than one would first think. He was at times confident, self-assured and knowing exactly what he wanted, then moments later fragile and vulnerable. In some ways he really was just a child, but in other ways he was wise well beyond his years. Daniel had also been thinking about how they were going to go about trying to find Nick's brother. "Maybe if I could read Ronnie's letters I could get some clues about where to look for him?" he suggested as they neared the street. Nick looked over his shoulder, "They're in there," he said with a glance in the direction of the pack. "Can I keep them for a day or two? I promise I won't lose them." Nick seemed to think about it a moment, then nodded his head, `yes'. Daniel caught up with him, wrapped his arm around his middle, and gave him a quick squeeze. "Oh," Nick looked up with a wink. "Don't worry, I didn't tell my mom about you!" "Well, that's a relief," Daniel laughed. "Somehow, I don't think she'd approve of me sucking your dick and kissing your ass." Nick chuckled. "Speaking of which," he grinned, "Alex is going to know you boned me today!" "He is?" "Yeah," Nick laughed. "How?" Daniel grinned. "He'll take one look at me, and I won't be able to keep the smile off my face, and then we'll both be laughing." Daniel rolled his eyes, "Great, that's just great!" he sighed. * * * * As Nick predicted, Alex pretty much guessed what had gone on that afternoon. He teased Nick for details, but this time Nick wasn't talking. The two were in the family room. "So, you're not going to talk, huh?" Alex joked. "Nope." "Not even a few juicy details?" Nick smiled but didn't say anything more. "I could tell mom," Alex said, hinting at blackmail. "And I could tell her what that old pair of boxers is for under your bed," Nick giggled. Alex blushed, "Like you don't have that washcloth in your closet." Nick grinned, "Okay, truce, let's not go there!" It was quiet for just a moment. Alex snickered, "Does it feel good?" "Does what feel good?" "Getting your dick sucked." Nick gave Alex a playful look, "Yeah, it feels real good." Alex looked back at Nick and their eyes locked. "Would you show me?" Alex blushed. Nick blinked, and then lowered his eyes. He didn't speak for a minute. The tension in the room was almost unbearable. "I'd have to talk to Daniel," he finally answered. Alex nodded. "I shouldn't have asked." Nick looked over at his best friend. "No, it's okay. I want to, but I wouldn't do it unless Daniel said it was okay." A mischievous look came to Alex's face. "Well, tell him I'm a poor orphan!" He giggled. Nick broke out laughing. * * * * Daniel spent the entire night pouring over Ronnie's letters to Nick. As Nick had said, there were no addresses, but there were a few clues as to where Ronnie might be. Apparently Ronnie had made his way down the coast of California by begging, stealing, and what ever other means were necessary. Daniel read between the lines and figured that Ronnie had been forced to let men use him in order to earn a little money and a place to stay. "I'm working for a landscape company," Ronnie had written in the most recent letter. "I'm just a helper, so that means I dig holes, push dirt around, and clean things up. But they pay me enough so that I'm off the street and have a little extra for food." He went on to say that the owner was Mexican, had come to the US with his wife and young child, after having waited until he had all his papers. Now he ran the small lawn business out of the back of his beat up old truck. "Enrico is very good at finding us work and even helped me get a place to stay. It's just a room in a run down motel, but the rent is cheap enough. His wife, Angelita, cooks lunch for us, so things aren't too bad." Daniel wrote down all the things that he thought would be useful including the name of the town where the last letter was mailed, descriptions of a couple of the projects that Ronnie had worked on, and the name of the highway where Ronnie said his motel room was near. It wasn't a lot, but Daniel hoped that it would be enough. "Time to make some calls," he thought, picking up his phone. * * * * Nick set his lunch tray down and sat opposite Alex. The school lunch room was bustling, with kids going back and forth from the various stations of the cafeteria filling their plates. "How did you do on your math quiz?" Nick asked as Alex took a gulp of milk. "Okay," Alex mumbled, his mouth still stuffed with a bite of hot dog. "We just got assigned a shit load of reading for history class." Nick frowned and reached for a couple of carrot sticks. "It figures, I hear she's a real ball buster." "Did you see the sign on the bulletin board? Some kids are trying to start a skateboard club." Nick smiled. "I missed that! Where is it?" "Second floor hall, the board by the office." "Cool, I'll check it out!" Alex grinned. "There's one for you," Nick giggled and nodded in the direction of a cute girl who was just sitting down with three others. Alex gave her the once over. "Yeah, I'd do her!" he laughed softly. "As if," Nick giggled. "Just you wait, I'll get it on, I just need a little more time." Alex chuckled. Nick went back to his lunch. "Did you hear any more from Daniel? Is he still trying to find your brother?" "Yeah, he called last night. He said he has a good idea where he might be. He's going to ask his dad for some money so he can fly out there." "California?" Nick nodded. "Bet you wish you could go, huh?" Nick sighed. "Yeah, but Daniel wouldn't even let me talk about it. `Your ass stays in school!' he said and that was the end of the conversation." "Well, he's only trying to help." "Yeah." "Have him call you every day and tell you what's happening." "Good idea. In fact he can text me." Nick's smile brightened a little. Alex looked back at the girl that Nick had pointed out earlier. "So, do you know her name?" Nick grinned. "Brianna, she's in my English class. She thinks you have a cute butt!" Alex choked and some milk went down the wrong way. "What?" he sputtered when he stopped coughing. Nick laughed, "I heard her telling one of her friends." Alex looked at the girl again, "Will you introduce me?" "Meet me by my locker after fifth period." Alex smiled. * * * * It was a four hour flight to San Diego, plus the wait times in the airport, security, and the drive. Daniel was exhausted when he finally checked into his hotel. "Just got here," Daniel sent to Nick via text as he flopped down in the stuffed arm chair facing the television. He closed his eyes and took a deep breath. He tried to let the stress leave his shoulders and back. It wasn't more than a minute later when his phone rang. It was Nick's number. "That didn't take long," Daniel chuckled. "How was your flight?" "Long, boring, and the guy sitting next to me had gas," Daniel joked. "That sounds nasty!" "I don't want to think about it." Daniel chuckled. "Where are you going to start?" Nick asked, no doubt eager to hear more about how Daniel was going to search for his brother. "I rented a car, and I'll drive over to where I think he may be, and then stop at motels along the way." "You still have that picture of him I gave you?" "Yeah, but it's a few years old. He probably looks different now." "His face is the same, just tell people he's taller and stuff like that!" Daniel chuckled. "Don't worry; I think I know what to do." "Thanks, Daniel," Nick whispered, "this means a lot to me." "I know, and I'm going to do my best. I have two weeks before school starts, and I'm sure we'll know something by then." Nick was quiet for a moment. "Tell him I miss him," Nick cried softly. "I will," Daniel whispered back. * * * * Finding Ronnie turned out to be much harder than Daniel expected. The sun blazed down and stop after stop at restaurants, motels, and gas stations along the highway that Ronnie had mentioned turned up no new information. Several people glanced at Ronnie's picture and then at Daniel with suspicious looks on their faces. Daniel wondered if they thought he was a cop, or a private detective, or maybe even some kind of child molester. Two days stretched into three, and then four. "This kid?" A pimple faced teen in a gas station asked, staring at the photo. "Yeah, I've seen him a few times." "Where?" Daniel asked hurriedly. "He comes in with a guy in a rusty old truck. I think they do landscaping. He buys his gas here a couple of times a week." "Do you know where I can find him?" The kid shook his head, `no'. "Is there a sign or something on the side of the truck?" "I guess so." "You don't remember what it says?" The young guy shook his head. Daniel quickly wrote down a few words on a piece of paper. Adding his cell number, he asked, "Would you give this to him if you see him again?" The teen said he would. "This isn't going to get anyone in trouble is it?" Daniel shook his head. "No. This is his younger brother," he pointed at the picture, "I'm just trying to get them back together again." * * * * Nick was fidgety and was finding it difficult to concentrate. He felt that having to sit in school while Daniel searched for his brother was a load of crap. He had his hand in his pocket tightly gripping his phone all day. Every once in a while it would vibrate, and Nick would sneak a peek at the text. "nothing new," one text read. "might have a lead," another said. The texts came about once every half hour. "Mr. Hunter! Is there a problem?" The teacher called out, and every kid in the class turned to look at him. "No, ma'am," Nick said softly and slid a bit lower in his seat. "You've been looking at your phone all afternoon. You have a new girlfriend perhaps?" Alex was sitting behind Nick and couldn't hold back a laugh. "No, ma'am, no girlfriend!" Nick blushed. "Then I suggest you turn the phone off. If I see it out one more time, it's mine for a week." Several kids in the class snickered. "Yes, ma'am." Nick turned the phone off and briefly closed his eyes. "Shit!" he thought to himself, "There's somebody that needs to get laid!" * * * * It was just after noon the following day when Daniel got the call. "Uh, my name's Ronnie. Are you the guy that was asking about me?" "Oh my God, yeah, I'm Daniel. I know your brother Nick. He's in trouble and he needs you." "What kind of trouble?" Ronnie asked quickly. "Your mom messed up, and Nick's in foster care." "Oh God," Ronnie said softly. "Can we meet someplace? I can give you the whole story." Ronnie quickly agreed. They set a time and place and hung up. * * * * Nick handed Alex a towel as they got to work cleaning up the kitchen after supper. Alex in turn gave Nick a look as if to say `I'm sorry." Mrs. Carson had given them additional chores when Alex had blurted out something on the `spicy side' and Nick had laughed. In fact, Nick had to admit, it was just plain dirty. "I still think it was funny," Nick giggled, wiping the counter. Alex grinned, "Well my mom didn't, at least we didn't get grounded." The kitchen was nearly clean when Nick's phone started playing "One Time." It was the ring tone Nick had selected for Daniel. He loved the line, "Your world is my world." "I wish you'd change that!" Alex laughed. "Why? That kid's cute!" Nick giggled and pulled his phone out of his pocket. Alex rolled his eyes in a `give me a break' kind of way. "Hello?" "Nick? It's me, Ronnie." Nick felt the blood drain from his face. "What?" Alex asked, a worried look coming across his own face. "Ronnie?" Nick whispered, his eyes tearing up. "How you doing, bro?" Nick choked back a sob. "Oh God, you don't know how much I miss you!" "I miss you, too. Your friend Daniel said that mom treated you real bad after I left." Nick couldn't speak. "I'm so, so, sorry. I should have stayed there and taken care of you." "You did what you had to do. Besides you were being hurt too." "Daniel's talking with my boss, explaining things. He wants me to come back with him." "Will you?" Nick sniffed, a hopeful tone in his voice. "For a little while anyway, no promises on for how long." "Okay," Nick said and managed a weak smile. The guys talked a few minutes more, but the battery on Daniel's phone was low. "Sorry, I guess I have to go," Ronnie said gently, "I'll call you again tomorrow. I promise! See you soon, bro!" "Okay, see you soon." "I love you," Ronnie whispered. "I love you, too," Nick whispered back. * * * * Alex and Nick talked long into the night. Mrs. Carson had sent them to bed at the usual time, but Alex had tip toed out of his room into Nick's and they whispered for several hours. Nick felt himself slowly getting over the shock of finding his brother, but as time went on, his mind filled with questions. He just had to know everything that had gone on the last few years. "You'll know everything soon enough," Alex finally announced, "You need to get some sleep." Nick knew Alex was right. A small grin crossed his face. "Well enough of my news, what about you? Did you talk to Brianna yet?" Alex blushed. "Yeah." "And?" Nick laughed softly. "She asked if I wanted to sit with her at lunch sometime." Nick giggled, "Are you going to?" "It's a start," he grinned. "I get horny every time I think about what we could do if we were alone some place." "You horny now?" Alex squirmed, "Yeah, my dick's been getting hard six times a day lately." Nick and Alex stared at one another for a moment. It grew a little bit uncomfortable. Nick guessed they were both thinking the same thing. "Still want me to suck it?" Nick whispered. Alex blushed. He reached into his boxers and nodded, `yes.' Nick crawled over as Alex put his hands on the floor behind himself and spread his legs. Nick put his hands on Alex's waist and then slowly pulled his underpants down. Alex raised his butt so that Nick could get them down far enough to let his dick out. Nick looked up and saw the expression on Alex's face. It was a mix of eager anticipation, embarrassment, and just a touch of worry. "Relax, you're going to like it," Nick grinned. Nick leaned down and lightly licked the rounded head of his friend's dick. Alex was about six and a half inches long, somewhat slender, but had a nicely shaped crown. Nick liked the look of it. He swirled the top and then gently wrapped his lips around the shaft. He sucked and then licked the tip again. Alex was already making pre-cum and Nick tasted it. He went back down on him. Alex moaned. "Oh fuck," he grunted softly and tried to shove his cock deeper into Nick's mouth. Nick pulled off again. "Don't push it," he instructed. "Okay," Alex whispered. Nick leaned over again and surrounded the boy's dick with his warm mouth. He licked, sucked, and played with Alex's nuts. He used every trick he could think of to make Alex feel good. "Oh shit, that's amazing," Alex moaned and started to push his dick up again. This time Nick just opened a little wider, and let him slide in further. "Oh fuck, that's even better!" Alex started thrusting his hips, forcing his dick in and out of Nick's mouth in a fucking motion. Nick relaxed and let him stuff it in and out for a couple of minutes. Alex grunted and groaned, obviously enjoying himself. Nick's jaw grew tired, and he pulled off for a moment. He jerked the teen's dick with his hand a few times and then licked the head. From the sounds that Alex was making, Nick guessed he was close. He went back down. Alex thrust in quickly a couple of more times and then grunted. "I'm gonna cum!" Nick sucked, and seconds later he felt three hard squirts fill his mouth. Nick swallowed, sucked, and jerked until he was sure Alex was finished. Then, with a final lick he cleaned the head. Nick sat back. "Did you like it?" he smiled. Alex slowly opened his eyes. "It was fucking awesome!" Nick giggled, "Daniel taught me!" Alex laughed softly. "Have you been drinking orange juice?" Nick asked with a twinkle in his eyes. "I guess, why?" "Your stuff tastes sweet!" Alex made a face, "Eeewwww," he joked. They were both quiet for a moment. "What about Daniel?" Alex asked. "You said you needed to talk to him about doing stuff like this." Nick nodded slightly. "I did, and he said, `You're fifteen, you're going to have urges. Who wouldn't? I know you love me. Do whatever feels right. I want you to have a good time." Alex looked down and then softly said, "He's pretty cool!" "Yeah," Nick whispered, "Very cool!" * * * * Thanks to all those that have written to offer comments and ideas. Your emails are what keep me going.
