We nodded and headed down the stairs and out of the Castle onto the
forecourt.

`I hear Nathan is going to be starting up a rugby team this term'

`Yes, Dad thought it would be more in keeping with the image of the school
than a football team, I think we are both going to be too old
unfortunately'

`Yeah, Colin, told me Nathan and Percy want to catch up with me about it'

Forts led the way down and into the stable block.

`Off to exercise the horses, Dexy, tells us he is a natural'

Forts winked at Dexy.

`Do You mind if I come too?

Gary kissed Brookmeyer's cheek

Forts laughed

He flashed one of his smiles and crossed over to Pegasus clapping him on

He turned back to Gary; in fact, so did Pegasus, eyeing him warily. Pegasus
snorted; Forts blew into his nostrils

Forts pulled Pegasus' ear forward and whispered into it, then turned back
to Gary

`You sure you can ride okay Gary; we don't want you hurting yourself
anymore than you have already'

Gary, stood up and smiled

`Come on guys please; this not being able to do anything is driving me
crazy'

`Okay, hang on we will get Baxter ready for you'

While Dexy spoke to Gary and Brookmeyer, Forts and I got the horses
ready. Fort's led Pegasus out of his stall, Dexy let out a

`Wow. He is Plumb'

`Plumb?

Dexy walked over and Pegasus and him went nose to nose

Forts nodded; obviously pleased someone was making a fuss of his
favourite. The clatter of hooves coming through the arch had us all looking
round; It was Niki, he came through the arch standing on the back of the
"Princess T", as she came to a halt he did a forward flip and landed next
to Forts. Dexy stood open mouthed as Forts swept Niki up into his arms.

`Hi Niki, remember I told you no one likes a show off'

We were all laughing, Forts told Niki we were just off on the horses; Niki
pleaded to come; like there was any doubt, Forts would say yes.

`Dexy, I have got Lightening ready for you'

I brought him out of the stall.

`Hey hang on, a bit of my saddle is missing, your messin with me'

We all looked at him,

`Sorry, what do you mean?

`Where's the pommel? What do you rest your hands on?

`A pommel?

We all began to laugh

`We got ourselves a real-life cowboy Forts'

Dexy bent down

Finally, we were ready for the off; Fort's led us out on Pegasus; Dexy

that comfortable on anything; Gary, waved goodbye to Brookmeyer and then

Fort's led us down to the Castle entrance driveway and then across the road
into the fields beyond; finally insisting Niki sit the right way round;
wasted breath as it turned out as Niki went past us all at the canter doing
a handstand on the Princess T.

`Dexy, do you think you could do that?

`Sure, Fort's if I had the right saddle'

`Yeah, yeah'

We finally reached the standing stones; Forts had mentioned taking Dexy to
see them. I got the impression Dexy wasn't all that impressed, maybe he was
imagining, something grand and impressive. He looked round at the three
main stones, formed possibly into some kind of alter and the others
scattered roughly around.

`What was it an old house?

Gary stepped forward,

`No, they think it was something built hundreds of years ago, by the first
people who lived around here'

`They should have saved their energy'

Dexy belly laughed

`They sure couldn't build'

Gary, smiled

`They think it was a religious site; but no one knows for sure.

Niki, who had been standing listening to all this, pointed at the main
stones.

Forts shook his head

Gary, shuffled closer as Fort's just stared at the bar.

Niki jumped down from the stone as Fort's stood and placed the bar down and
with everyone gathered round, he slowly traced the large brown lettering,

Carefully he peeled back the outer paper wrapper and then opened the foil

Dexy sat on the grass watching all this happening; he couldn't quite

Dexy just shook his head. Forts used his pen knife to cut the bar into five

`Not since the War started, we have had nothing'

Dexy smiled as he handed over the small bottle he produced from his pocket,
the liquid in it had no colour.

`Now you need to take a real big swig'

Forts took the bottle and viewed it with some suspicion, sniffing at the
open top.

`What is it?

`We call it Everclear, go on try it. A big swig mind'

Fort's took a draw on the bottle and swallowed; Dexy just managed to grab
the bottle as Fort's clasped at his throat.

Dexy was on the ground laughing.
