"Forts, this was no one's fault. It was just a terrible accident brought about because of this bloody war!" Forts nodded as more tears rolled down his cheeks. Duke looked back at me. "Duke, can you drive? Forts get in the back with me." Duke hopped out of the Jeep and moved round to the driver's side. "Certainly Davy." Forts slowly got out, he glanced at Duke, and mumbled, "Thank you." Then joined me on the rear bench seat. I wrapped my arm round his shoulder and pulled him closer. "Forts, none of this is your fault... Come on, let's get home. You need to speak to Chris." ********************** Operation Pied Piper – Part 143d – Part 143d minor characters making an appearance: Cornelius Harding – (Harding/Con) Doctor at Castle Fraser. Oliver Van Cusen – (Olly) Doctor, burns specialist – Partner to Harding. Captain James Brandt – (James/Brandt/Captain Brandt) Officer in the 4th Battalion of the Black Watch.5'10 'The Viscount Tilney'. Robert Meisner – (Robert) Dima's partner 27yrs old Cambridge graduate, specialising in Russian language and culture. Mark Edwards - a Captain in the Regular British Army. New member of the security team. Itzka Brodskoy – (Itzka/Brodskoy) Owner of the Nabokov steam Bath House in Aberdeen. ** Olly Van Cusen takes up the story Since bumping into Andrei earlier and finding out that Con had gone with Archie to the Station to meet the train I had been sitting stewing in my own juices, becoming more and more angry, upset and, yes, worried. I heard the bus arrive back and had a quick look at the smiling faces of everyone getting off. Everyone except Con, that is. He kept his head down and came straight into the house, leaving the others all talking. I sat back down and picked up my book to make it look like I was busy, but I was really watching for the door handle to turn. As it did, I intently stared at my book. Con came into the room, his shoulders rounded and looking down. Things didn't go the way I planned, instead I slammed down my book, unable to contain my fury anymore. "Oh, so you're back. Anything you want to tell me?" Con avoided my eyes. "Sounds like you already know." "What, that you went to the station to meet Chris without telling me?" I said sarcastically. "It wasn't like that, but yes." "Well, perhaps you would like to explain to me exactly what it 'was like?' then." Con shook his head, then snapped back at me. "Olly, I love the kid! I can't just stop loving him." "And what about me?" I shot back at him. "Please don't! Not again. All I wanted to do was make sure he was okay and coping with us all breaking up." "Really? ... And?" Con began to undo his shirt. "He didn't come back with them. He stayed in London with James for another week." "James?" "Yes, Captain James Brandt. The Viscount Tilney. They were friend before I met Chris... Good friends." My heart jumped, "Ha, so he has gotten over you pretty quick, then." I knew I was gloating, but couldn't stop myself. Con looked at me, daggers, "You can be such an arse, Olly, you really CAN! ... Oh, forget it, I am going for a shower." I watched as Con, now down to just his undershorts, headed into the bathroom. "Where does that leave you and me?" I barked after him. He didn't answer. I sat wrestling with my own feelings. Part of me was overjoyed Chris had found someone else, the other part hating myself for taunting Con, who I loved dearly. Why do we do that? Why do we hurt the ones we love most? I sat staring at the door of the bathroom. I actually started to feel nauseous. How had I let myself speak to him like that? What if he left me? I quickly undressed and slipped into the bathroom. Con was in the shower cubicle, his back to me. I opened the curtain; he didn't turn round. "Olly, please, no more. You win, just leave me alone. I am not going to fight with you." He sounded so sad. I stepped into the shower and put my arms round him. His face turned back to face mine. I leant forward and kissed him, mumbling, "I'm sorry, I thought I had lost you. I didn't mean to be cruel." Con turned round to face me, his eyes clearly red and tear stained, even under the shower. "Olly, I do love you, believe me. I was worried Chris would be in a mess inside." Con chuckled and kissed my lips, "How stupid was I?" We exchanged what can only be described as wistful smiles. I kissed him again, dropping my hands to his arse cheeks and squeezed the mounds of flesh. I pressed my thick six inches against his now hard cock. I nibbled his ear, "I know it's not as huge or as young as Chris' but he is eager and very keen to please..." Con smiled as his hand wrapped round my cock and squeezed. His fingers corkscrewed downwards, dragging my foreskin back, exposing my bellend to the air and water. He pushed his face into my neck. "I'm sorry, I behaved stupidly. I really do love you. I want you to know that." I thrust my cock up hard between his clenched fingers. "I love you too. Can't you tell?" His fingers' manipulations had gotten my cock throbbing. He chuckled as his thumb smeared the emerging blob of precum from my cocklips down over my helmet bellend. I shuddered, my knees trembled. "Careful." He chuckled again. Pushing his lips to mine, our tongues entwined passionately. I pushed him back against the tiled wall of the shower. He shuddered, I stopped, "Are you okay? Do you want this?" He nodded, "I am fine, and yes, I want this. It was just the sudden coldness of the tiles on my back." He pressed his lips back to mine. I shuffled closer, easing my feet between his. He opened his legs wider as I pressed myself hard against him. ** Harding takes up the story Water cascaded over me as Olly kissed me. My thoughts flip-flopped back and forth between what was happening right here and now, then to my sex with Chris, then to Olly, and our time as love-struck students, the love we had for each other then so vivid in my mind's eye. It had broken my heart when Olly had been unable to make the ultimate commitment to me. But he had been too scared, and we had gone our own separate ways, me burying myself in my studies and work to forget him. Oh, sure, we had occasionally bumped into each other in our professional roles, but both of us kept that strictly work, never talking about the past. Finally, I had managed to push the love and the hurt from my mind, erasing our relationship from my memory, or so I thought. I smiled to myself. Thank goodness Olly didn't know why, as we continued to make out. My mind drifted back to that fateful day in the hospital in London, treating Prince Dima, meeting Forts, Davy, Theodora, little Niki and Chris... My darling Chris. Then moving to Castle Fraser, a new life and, more important than anything, finding love again, with Chris. Life seemed so good. Then the fire and Will's terrible burns. I knew the only person I would trust to treat him would be Olly van Cusen. He had come straight up at my request and my life fell apart once more. Why is it some people have this effect on us? All the repressed emotions exploded in my face. I was a love-struck student once more. I closed my eyes, gripping his cock hard, and brutally stoked it. My tongue pressed deep into his mouth, not sure any longer who I was kissing. ** James Brandt takes up the story Chris answered the phone in our suite. "Forts!" He chuckled, "Are you checking up on me already... Or can't you cope and need me back sooner? ... Sorry, WHAT? Oh, God. When? How?" I crossed to Chris and put my arm round his waist. "Colin, the groom is dead," He uttered, covering his mouth. "Sorry Forts, of course, anything, what do you want me to do?" I interrupted, "Us, we'll help." Chris nodded, "Forts, James says he will help too." I strained to hear. As usual, it wasn't the best line. Luckily, Chris was repeating out loud the main parts of the conversation. "The body needs to be identified." I watched as Chris swallowed. "Of course... I can do that..." I mouthed that I would go with him. "James will go with me... Yes, of course, I understand, it will save his parents having to travel down. I understand... Yes, let me get a pen. Can I repeat that back to you, Ch Inspector Galbraith, Whitehall 1212? Yes, I understand. I will ring him now... Robert is arranging for an undertaker to attend and then bring him back to Inverurie, yes, okay. Yes, I will keep you all informed... Forts, I am so sorry, I know you liked him. Yes, goodbye for now." Chris replaced the receiver. "What happened? I couldn't hear everything." Chris was as white as a sheet. "Colin... my God, he was only sixteen. He was one of Forts' and Davy's grooms. While everyone was in London, he left and joined up. He caught a train to London and while he was on route to the recruitment office in the blackout, he was knocked down by a car outside the station and killed." I gave Chris a hug, shaking my head. "I saw the statistics the other day, deaths on the roads in the blackout are up by over two thousand a year from the pre-war years." Chris hugged me back, "God, that's awful." I nodded. Chris picked up the piece of paper he had written on. "I had better ring this Chief Inspector..." He hesitated, "James, you will come with me, won't you? ... To identify him. I mean... I have never seen a dead body before..." I squeezed him tighter, "Of course I will." ** Davy takes up the story Forts hadn't stopped since we returned from the Campbells. He had rung Athol and Archie, they had both come straight over and were now in our apartment with Dima, Robert and Vlad. Forts put the phone down on Chris and turned back to us all. "Dima, I want you and Robert to visit the Campbells tomorrow. If there is anything they want, arrange it, please. Davy and I are paying, ... Anything, understand?" Dima nodded, "Yes Forts." Athol stood and took Forts' arm. "Forts, son, slow down. This isn't your fault. It is just a terrible accident." Forts nodded, shaking his head, "Dad, he wanted to speak to me before I left for London. He was told I was too busy... I might have been able to talk him out of going had he seen me, and he would still be alive... Dad, you should have seen how upset his parents are..." Another tear rolled down Forts' cheek. Athol pulled him into a big hug. What could he say? There was nothing any of us could say which would make it any better. "I'm back." The door opened and a smiling Albert came into the sitting room. He was quickly intercepted by Marcus and bundled into their side room. We all sat in silence. Albert reappeared a few moments later, he was no longer smiling. "Forts, Davy, I am very sorry to hear the awful news. I am sorry I didn't know before I came in... Just so you know, the carriage is all locked up and secure. Andrei is arranging to have the crates from the goods wagon brought over to Pittodrie." Forts nodded as I thanked him. "Albert, can you let Denis know that Athol and Archie will be joining us for dinner this evening." Albert nodded, and after a quick word with Marcus, left the apartment. Athol stood, "Come on, Archie, let us take these dogs for a walk." Archie nodded. Forts smiled. "Thanks dad. I need to speak to Darius, Tobias, and Duke now. That will be a real help." Dima, Robert, and Vlad quickly stood, following Athol and Archie. Forts put up his hand, "Davy and I would like you three to stay if that's okay? Robert, can you call for the three of them, please?" I looked at Forts, "Don't you want your dad and Archie in on the conversation?" Forts shook his head, "Davy, you know what dad's like. He worries enough about us..." I knew what he was saying was correct but wasn't sure it was the right decision. It had taken a lot of badgering from Vlad to even get Forts to agree to speak to Darius about it. * Probably five minutes later, there was a slight knock at the door. It opened and Darius, Tobias, and Duke came in, their faces revealing they hadn't a clue why Forts and I had sent for the three of them. Darius looked especially pensive as he looked at each of us in turn. "Forts, Davy, is there something wrong?" Forts sighed. "Come in, please... Davy has told me that the two new chaps, David Tait and Mark Edwards will be arriving in a few days." Darius nodded. "That's correct, is there a problem?" Forts stared at him coldly. "Well, you tell me... It has come to our attention that Mark Edwards was once an active member of the Communist Party while he was at Eton with you all, and later at university. Perhaps you could explain what you know about this and assure me that none of my family are going to be at risk from this man... Oh, and just why none of you thought to tell us about this!" Darius looked like he had been poleaxed. Duke and Tobias swapped glances and both looked at the floor. "Where did you hear this?" Darius stammered. Forts remained expressionless. "I don't think that is important." Forts stood, "What is important is, are my family and myself at risk from this man? It can't have escaped any of your notice, I am not at the top of Stalin's Christmas card list. Need I remind you there have been two attempts on my life already?" Darius looked aghast. "Forts, Davy, I would never put any of you at risk... Mark was just a silly teenager when he spouted all that nonsense. Tobias and Duke will confirm that. He was just trying to be awkward to the teachers and masters... No one really believed he actually was a Communist." Darius turned to Duke and Tobias. "Chaps, please, you didn't think he really believed in it, did you? Tell Forts and Davy." Tobias and Duke remained looking at the carpet. Forts turned to them, "Duke, what do you have to say? Will you vouch for him?" Duke glanced up at Tobias and then at Vlad. He knew well where Forts and I had heard about Mark. He had ensured it on the train. He hesitated and appeared to bite his lip, "Forts, Davy, I promise you both, I wouldn't waver in shooting Mark if at any time he posed a threat to either of you or Prince Draco." Darius gasped, "Duke, what are you saying? You make it sound like Mark isn't to be trusted!" Forts silenced Darius with a glare. Then stared at Duke. "Let us hope it never comes to that." Forts shook his head. He was right. The very thought was just too horrific. Darius looked amazed, "Duke, Christ, tell them you don't believe he is a threat to them. For God's sake." Duke sighed and was that a glimpse of a smirk? Was he enjoying Darius' discomfort? He exhaled. "To the best of my knowledge, Mark never actually believed any of that communist shit." He said noncommittally. Then paused for a second, "However, he never spoke to me about it. He knew my feelings about what the Bolsheviks had done. To me a Communist, is a Communist, is a Communist!" Darius stood, shaking his head. To me, it sounded as if Duke was being deliberately evasive, yet his words also seemed to condemn Mark, out of turn. Then again, I had to acknowledge to myself he was still sore with Darius after what had happened on the train with Albert. Darius huffed, "Tobias, you tell them. Mark was your best friend!" Tobias looked equally uneasy. "As far as I am aware, Mark didn't believe in the ideals of Communism... then." "And, now?" Forts hissed. "I can't say. I haven't spoken to him about it... But..." Darius shook his head. "I don't believe this... Well, I am prepared to vouch for him. Mark is a 'Steady Eddy'. I would trust him with my life and all of yours." Dima spoke, "Forts, sorry what is this 'Steady Eddy'?" Vlad nodded, he was obviously struggling with the term as well. Robert leant forward, "A steady Eddy is someone who does everything by the rules and can be totally relied upon to do the job... It is another English expression." Dima nodded. "Thank you." Forts sat back down. "Okay, thank you all for that." "Yes, thank you for those ringing endorsements!" Dima sneered, shaking his head. "Dima. Please... Darius, Davy and I want to speak to our advisors now. I will let you know our decision later." Darius looked at us incredulously. "Forts, I promise you, he is a good man. All of that was years ago!" "So, you have said Darius, and we have listened. Thank you. I will speak to you again later." The three of them left and closed the door. Forts turned back to us. "Davy, what do you think?" "Forts, I think Vlad should tell everyone else exactly what he told us he overheard on the train." Forts nodded, "Vlad, can you tell us one more time?" Vlad nodded. "It was on the train, as I said before. I overheard Duke and Tobias speaking... Most of it was about the issue with Darius. But after that, they began speaking about Mark Edwards." Dima interrupted, "Vlad, get to the point, what did they say?" Vlad looked at the table. "Duke said, 'it's funny, Darius taking on Mark Edwards as part of Forts and Davy's security detail. You remember, he was the only self-professed member of the Communist Party at the school and later at university'." Dima gasped. Vlad continued, "Tobias then shooshed him and said 'he was just a boy then. I have never heard him mention it since... In fact, he never talks about politics at all'." Dima leant forward, "Was that all?" Vlad shook his head, "Duke then said. 'Still... A possible Communist... close to one of the last surviving Romanovs and armed with a gun.' To which Tobias replied, 'Enough Duke, I know...' then added, 'It doesn't bear thinking about'." Vlad was gripping the cross round his neck. "Forts, you cannot let this man anywhere near you or your family! I beg you." I felt it was my turn to speak, "But Vlad, you have heard them all vouch for him now." "Hardly!" Dima growled. I continued. "Vlad, I saw Duke make eye contact with you earlier, he obviously knew you had overheard their conversation and was expecting you to tell us. Now the real question is, was that out of a concern for our safety, or was he mischief making for Darius?" Robert mumbled, echoing Dima's concern. "Davy, they only really vouched for him when pushed." Dima nodded and patted Robert on the back. Dima leant forward, "Forts, Davy, you can't risk it. Once a Communist, always a Communist! Just like Duke said." I felt I had to speak again. "Dima, not all Communists are Bolsheviks!" "True, but none love royalty." Robert exhaled. I had to nod at that. Forts sighed, "None of this is making this any easier for us to make a decision. To my way of thinking, he could already have shot me or Davy several times in London. Why not do it then, if that's what he intends to do?" We all sat in silence, Forts took my hand. "Right, Davy and I have to make a decision, I will ask each of you in turn, please just answer yes or no to the question, do we allow Mark Edwards to become one of the security team?" "Davy?" "Yes." "Dima?" "No." "Vlad?" "No." "Robert?" "I really don't know. If he is totally innocent, I am condemning him without a hearing." "Robert, please, yes or no?" "If you are going to press me, then, yes." Dima growled, "Robert!" "Dima, please. Everyone is innocent until proven guilty." Robert looked awful. Forts thought for a moment. "I am a yes. If he was a threat, I would already be dead. So, the majority decision is 'yes', he will join the security team. Thank you, everyone." * Darius was summoned back and informed that Mark could join the security team. I slipped out and sought out Tobias. He looked pensive as I approached him. "Tobias." He swallowed, "Yes, Davy?" "I have to ask you to speak to some of your colleagues again, my friend..." ** Vlad takes up the story I couldn't stop thinking about it. A split decision. And yet Forts, Davy, and Robert had obviously thought Dima, and I were worrying unnecessarily. But my heart was filled with a deep sense of foreboding. I felt desperately that I needed to pray, both to beseech for divine protection for them all, and selfishly to set my own troubled mind at rest. I made my way into the newly completed chapel at Pittodrie and switched on the overhead light. My eyes were met by the serene gazes of over a hundred painted and bejewelled faces, which looked out from the dozens of gilt and silver icons lining the walls and facing me from the altar. Above the altar, suspended on golden chains from high up on the ceiling, was a large wooden and gilt Orthodox cross. I bowed and crossed myself before going over to the altar. I lit a candle for each of them: Forts, Davy and Draco. Then I knelt and prayed, harder than I had ever done before. The words of Tobias' and Duke's conversation on the train tumbled over and over in my mind. How could Forts and Davy say I was worried unnecessarily? I had heard them with my own ears talking. I tried to block Duke's words from my head. "It's funny, Darius taking on Mark Edwards as part of Forts and Davy's security detail. You remember, he was the only self-professed member of the Communist Party at the school and later at university." Tobias had chuckled and shooshed him. "He was just a boy then. I have never heard him mention it since... In fact, he never talks about politics at all." It sounded like Duke was still shocked like I was, "Still... A possible Communist... close to one of the last surviving Romanovs and armed with a gun." "Enough Duke, I know... It doesn't bear thinking about. Right, you had better go and apologise before it is too late." Duke had then walked past me. He stopped and nodded to me. I had a strange feeling then that he knew I was there all along and had overheard the two of them. "Father Vladimir." I had nodded back, "Duke." He continued to look at me for a second and then walked off down the carriage. Now here alone and on my knees in the chapel, I had so many questions. I hoped God would be able to answer them for me and I hadn't even gotten to what to do about Sergey yet. ** Itzka Brodskoy takes up the story the following morning Prince Dima Chikenoff phoned me late last night. He wanted to bring Forts to the Baths today to try to help him relax, apparently there was a lot going on. I, of course, agreed and made sure the baths were closed to everyone but close friends. I met the vehicle at the door. I was called by a member of staff as the Rolls Royce pulled up. I was joined on the pavement by Darius, who had been sitting up front and whom I met previously. He smiled and opened the door after a quick look around. Dima was first out of the vehicle. "Itzka, it is good to see you again my friend." He shook my hand warmly. I didn't recognise the next chap out. "Itzka, this is Count Sergey Uvarov... Sergey, Itzka Brodskoy, a fellow countryman." Sergey spoke to me in Russian, obviously testing me, or so I felt. Dima chuckled as I responded in perfect Russian. Even my accent confirming I was a Russian born and bred. Uvarov embraced me and kissed me on both cheeks. While he was doing this, we were joined on the pavement by a giant of a man, well to me and all of my full five foot five inches. He whispered something to Darius and then took up position on the other side of the door to Darius. Before I could be introduced, Forts came out of the vehicle. "Itzka, so good to see you again, my friend. I hope this visit hasn't caused you too much inconvenience." I shook my head, "No, not at all, Forts... Your Imperial Highness. It is so good to see you again." Forts grinned. I glanced at the giant again, holding onto the door of the limousine. Forts smiled, "This is Duke, he is yet another security guy, and you already know Darius." I nodded, then turned to Forts, Dima, and Sergey. "Very pleased to see you all again. Please, come in." Duke got back into the vehicle and one of my members of staff hopped in next to him to show him to the secure car parking area. Darius followed us all into the building, through the security door by the entrance and into the main bar area. Darius seemed to tense as he immediately noticed the half a dozen other guys standing nearby, all smartly dressed. He moved closer to Forts. Forts was handed a glass of Champagne by the barman, which he accepted readily. He took a deep sip, "Itzka, you don't know how much I need a good steam," He winked, "And maybe a rub down, all finished off with a nice swim to help me relax." He smiled and emptied his glass. I stepped back, "Darius, Forts, well, the baths are at your disposal, the only other people here are some of my close friends, they won't bother you." I waved over my small group of friends and made introductions. Forts greeted them all warmly, especially Gerald and Harry. "These two are practically inseparable." Forts smiled and turned to me again. "Forts, I had hoped Davy would be with you." He shook his head, "He has to teach today. But he sends his best wishes." I nodded, "Well, you know where the changing rooms are. I will walk you through, then leave you all to enjoy yourselves, and see you again later. I understand you wish to speak to me, too." Forts nodded. "I do, but it can wait until later. Dima, Sergey, Darius, this way." I walked through to the changing room and showed them the lockers I had set aside. Darius seemed to hesitate. Forts noticed, "Come on, strip off, you can do with a de stress too." "But." "Just throw yourself at them if anyone comes near me... Darius, we are safe in here, I have been several times. Plus, they will probably confuse me with Dima, anyway." Forts chuckled as he pulled his tunic over his head. Darius nodded and finally smiled as he began to strip off. Naked and with his cock swinging, Forts grinned, "Steam room first, I think." I summoned over three of the boys and told them to get Schmeissing. I headed back into the bar area and met Duke being brought in the rear way. "Drink?" "Where is everyone?" "Relax, all in the steam room, getting soaped up and rubbed up, Darius is with them." Duke smiled, "In that case, I will take you up on the offer of a drink. Then maybe you and I could join them in the steam room?" I looked at this blond giant. Fuck, if his dick was even just in proportion to the rest of him, it must be huge! I smiled, "Certainly, now that sounds like a plan." It was strange sitting speaking with Duke. We sat for at least forty minutes just chatting like old friends. I sat, seeming to agree with everything he said, why was I doing that? I also wasn't really aware that, while I consumed several drinks, he only finished one. Finally, he stood, towering over me, his not inconsiderable crotch bulge, just inches from my face. "Ready for a steam?" He held out his great mitt of a hand and practically hauled me out of my chair. I couldn't quite believe it, I was being led into the changing room by this man. I felt totally subservient to him, and yet, it was usually me who was in control. Once in the changing room, I couldn't help but watch as he undressed. He seemed to know and was slowly peeling off his clothes. I watched his trousers being undone. The fly gaped open as his undershorts bulged obscenely. I was fixated. I watched him ease his trousers down over the bulge. I licked my lips. Fuck, his cock was huge and obviously hard. It twitched under the material; shit. I glanced up at his face, his eyes were fixed on me; captured, he seemed to smirk and then wink. I looked away, but couldn't stop my eyes from returning to his bulge. His fingers sat on the waist of his undershorts, he seemed to hesitate and then slowly eased them down. I gasped as his hard cock burst free and slapped noisily against his stomach. He gripped the shaft as I watched, mesmerised by the beast before me. He gave it a couple of wanks towards the large cut bellend. Then let it go, "Are you ready?" I stammered, "Just a minute." He was now standing watching me, his hands on his hips, his hard nine-inch-thick cock, swayed cobra like, watching me too. I couldn't help looking at it. My own little cock throbbed in my boxers as I eased them down. He looked at me like I was prey, then smiled. "Let's start off in the steam room." ********************** Folks, there is nothing more rewarding than hearing from you that you are enjoying the story.
