We collapsed into our respective sweaty heaps, cuddling and kissing, we had soon drifted off to sleep; even though it was the middle of the afternoon. I woke first, Daniel was still cuddled into me, I pulled him closer, he gave a comforting `Mmmmmm'. Hearing the turning of the door handle, I raised my head, the door slowly opened a few inches, Athol's head poked round. He broke into a wide smile, I smiled back, he mouthed `Everything okay? I nodded, he smiled again and gently closed the door. ***************** Operation Pied Piper – Part 45a Athol takes up the story `Hello? Ah, yes good morning, is this, err, Bryan, Jones and Lynn Solicitors?.........Good let me introduce myself, I am Athol MacDonald, Laird of the Clan MacDonald, Head master of Harrow Boys School currently based at Castle Fraser, Inverurie... I need to speak to you about one of our pupils, Drageon Fortnum...What do you mean why? ...I just told you who I am...Well I need to speak to someone about this boy...No it's not about his fee's...Look, find someone who can speak to me and get them to ring me please, urgently' I gave them my number and sat back down, Forts file was still on my desk, I opened it again, compared to all the other boys' files this one told you nothing, nearly every section referring you to the Solicitors, I had just spoken too. I had even managed to speak to the old headmaster, he could add nothing, only that Forts had been at the school since first year; His school fees paid in advance by Bryan, Jones and Lynn, to the best of his knowledge he had never had a visit from anyone let alone any parents and had stayed in a local bed and breakfast house. Luckily, he remembered the name and I had even managed to speak to them; a rather brusque lady, yes, she remembered Forts, no she knew nothing about him and she was paid weekly, by Bryan, Jones and Lynn Solicitors; I was no further forward. I hoped I wasn't stirring things up, the last thing I wanted to do was upset Forts; why hadn't it dawned on me, he never received letters or parcels. I wondered how long it would be before someone got back to me, and my beloved Archie had only been gone one day and I was missing him being around already, he had phoned, his first two inspections had gone well and he had two more today. The shrill ring of the phone, brought me out of my daydream. `Hello, MacDonald of Clan MacDonald...Ah hello...can you repeat your name please, sorry I missed it, this line is terrible...ah hello Mr Lynn...Yes I did ring...yes about Drageon Fortnum...No there is no problem...No he is fine, doing very well in fact...I was wondering if you could help me with some information about his family...you cant what sorry,...You can't discuss it on the phone...I will have to come to you...I am in the top of Scotland man...Okay well if you're not prepared to tell me anything on the phone, I will have to come to you...yes I can get to you for tomorrow midday...Okay I will see you then...thank you...goodbye' I put the phone down; what the fuck was going on. I found Mr Evans and explained I had to leave for London that afternoon, he was to take charge, I would be back, all things being well on Thursday the 8th. So, there it was; tomorrow morning I would be in London for the first time in months, I packed quickly and got a cab to the station in Inverurie, I didn't even have time to say goodbye to anyone. That had all been, thirty-six hours ago, I was now on my way back, the train Conductor assuring me we would be arriving in thirty minutes at Inverurie. I was still in a state of shock, I really need to speak to Archie, before I did anything else; alas he wouldn't be back until Saturday morning. I kept churning what I had been told over and over in my mind; how that boy had coped was beyond me. As for Bryan, Jones and Lynn Solicitors, I wouldn't repeat what I thought about them, I had never liked solicitors and this crowd had confirmed everything bad I thought about them. As I made my way off the train, I was relieved to see a friendly face; Gary was there to meet me. `Gary, good to see you, thank you for meeting me, how are things at the Castle? `Good, My Lord' `Gary, call me Athol, when we are alone, please' He nodded and smiled, taking my overnight bag off me. `This way' I followed him out through the tunnel into the carpark, it was empty apart from a single motorcycle. My face must have said it all. `Mr Duncan, lent me it, so I could get you home' I laughed as he handed me a leather helmet. `You can ride these, can't you? He laughed `There's nothing to it, well not really and I got here safely' `Come on then' I got on behind him and clutching my travel bag, we headed off towards the Castle; thank goodness it was dry, I don't think I would have got on if it had been raining, the journey was hairy enough. I was just beginning to relax as we passed Burnhill, we would soon be at the Castle. Gary began pointing towards the field on our right, near the standing stones; there was a guy on a horse galloping across the field parallel with the road, he was in a long kilt the fly plaid blowing in the wind, the horse's mane and tail, emphasising the speed he was travelling at. `It's Forts on Thunder, It's Forts on Thunder' Gary shouted, against the wind, I felt him speed up the motorcycle as he raced to keep up, me hanging on for dear life, Forts began to pull up, Gary did likewise on the motorcycle, Gary started waving madly, Forts, realising who it was began waving too; that smile instantly recognisable to anyone who knew him. I tapped Gary on the back. `Let's get back' `To the stables? `No, the Castle please' He gave me an odd look, but I just nodded him on, giving Forts a wave as we set off; I wasn't ready to speak to Forts yet, I had no idea what to say. I am a coward; once at the Castle, I quickly thanked Gary and made my way up to the staffroom. I managed to stay out of sight, until the Saturday morning, when Mr Lucas told me about the arrival of several new horses overnight, I knew I would have to speak to Davy and Forts and found them in the dining hall, making our meeting as brief as possible, ostensibly, claiming I was busy arranging the Sunday Church Service, which wasn't totally untrue. Davy takes up the story My favourite crow, seemed to have found someone else to wake up recently; well so I had thought, until this Saturday morning. Tap, tap, tap. Tap No, I couldn't believe it `Forts, forts...are you awake? `Uurrgh... I am now, what is it? `That bloody crow is back' `Maybe he missed you' He chuckled and snuggled down. `That's not funny, it woke me up' `And you just woke me up...go back to sleep' I lay, I could feel my frustration mounting; bloody bird. Tap, tap, tap Right that's it, I threw off the covers, jumped out of bed and ran at the window, Forts grumbled and pulled the covers back over him and snuggled down; again. The bloody bird, lifted off, and after much flapping of wings and caw, caw, caw, noises it flew off. `I don't know how you can sleep? Forts, sighed and turned to face me his green eyes peered over the covers at me. `Davy, you, make more bloody noise that it does' He turned back over and snuggled down again. I stood looking out of the window trying to see through the condensation, the sun was just coming up; I glanced at my watch six thirty, oh well. I went to the small table and flicked on the kettle and got two cups ready. Another `Hummf' noise followed by a shoosh, from under the bed covers. I went back to the window, I heard myself thinking out loud. `I can't see bloody anything through this' I began to rub at the window. Squeak, squeak, squeak. A louder `HUMMF'. `Opps, sorry Forts, I will try and be quieter' Nothing; just the blankets being pulled up closer round his head. I peered through the glass; what was that? I couldn't make it out. Squeak, squeak, squeak. `For Christ sake Davy' `Sorry' I whispered `But there is something in the Paddock' `Shut up, shut up' Forts grabbed my pillow and pulled it over his head, his hands holding it tightly. `Well their is' `They are horses Davy, now please, I am trying to sleep' I still couldn't see clearly; I unclipped the latch and pulled up the window. It had stuck a bit and screeched as I hauled it up a couple of inches. `HMMMMF' `Sorry' I quietly whispered back. I peered out trying to focus on the paddock. `Forts, sorry, sorry darling, but have we got more horses? `No, we haven't, now shut up, your doing this on purpose' `Well, there are at least six more their now. But if you're not interested...' I pulled down the window, closing it, just as the kettle started to boil, unfortunately as I hurried to turn off the kettle to stop the boiling noise, I knocked over one of the cups into the saucer. `Ops, Sorry' The covers flew up in the air. `That's it, there is no way I will get back to sleep now! Forts clambered out of bed glaring at me, his morning lob swinging in front of him, he crossed to the window. `What do you mean, six more? He peered through the glass `Christ! I can't see anything through this' Squeak, squeak, squeak `Nor could I, that's why I opened it' He glanced round, he looked like he was going to say something, but stopped himself. `Now your up, do you want a cup of tea? `You little...' I tried to dodge him, but failed, he grabbed me, his face, breaking into his famous smile, he pushed his lips to mine, he squeezed me tightly. `I love you' `And I love you too' Could this guy ever be cross about anything? I knew what I was like when I was woken up. I squeezed him back, he turned back to the window `Now what did you see? He pulled the window open, I snuggled up behind him, feeling the warmth of his naked body; I reached round and gripped his lazy lob. `Off, off, your insatiable' He giggled, his hands playfully slapping mine away as his dick squirmed out of my grasp, he looked back out the window; he did a double take. `Christ, there are another six there, tied to the fence' He looked at me his mouth hanging open `That's what I was telling you... tea? Forts hopped over to the bed and started rummaging looking for his shirt and socks. `Where are you going? `Davy, there are a load of horses down there, that are not ours, I am going to see what's going on' `Wait for me then' We both quickly dressed and with me brining up the rear, we headed downstairs. Mr Lucas, was just unlocking the main door; he had been night duty staff member. `Your up early, morning boys' Forts quickly explained what we had seen and once the door was open, we all ran over to the paddock. Right enough their where six ponies or small horses, I couldn't tell, tied to the paddock fence. `Where did they come from? Mr Lucas looked at us as if we should know. `We have no idea Sir, they appeared overnight' `Well I never heard anything' He quickly added. `Well Mr Campbell is back this morning, maybe he will know? Forts made sure that they all got some hay and some water, then there was nothing more to do, but wait until Archie, ops, Mr Campbell was back. We went back into the Castle in to the dining hall, it being a Saturday, breakfast was a bit later, so everyone got a bit longer in bed, luckily Mr Duncan was up and busy getting things organised with Lander's, he made Forts and me a tea and a bacon roll. The Castle slowly came to life with boys heading down for showers and coming in for tea. `Forts, Davy' It was Mr MacDonald `Good morning Sir' `Now what's going on about these horses that appeared overnight, Mr Lucas didn't seem very sure? `Nor are we Mr MacDonald, but overnight six ponies have been left tied up to the paddock fence' `Who's are they? `We don't know Sir, we thought Mr Campbell might know, Sir' Mr MacDonald nodded and turned to leave. He stopped, `Well I am expecting him back around eleven, so you have a while to wait, must dash, have to make sure everything is ready for tomorrow' Forts and I exchanged glances `Did he seem a bit funny to you? Before Forts could answer, Mr Davis bustled into the room. `Ahh, Davy, just the boy, I am looking for, are you free to run through the music for tomorrow, make sure you know when to turn the pages? `Hello Mr Davis, certainly' I got up and tapped Forts on the shoulder `Will look for you later at the stable' Forts nodded and gave me a smile. I turned to leave Mr Davis was gone, off at speed, I ran to catch him up, having to trot along behind him; god he walked fast, once at the organ Keydesk; he had me switch on the electric bellows. He turned smiling broadly. `Just a quick tune to loosen up my fingers then we can run through the whole program' I stood blown away, this man did this instrument honour. I looked at the title of the music, Pachelbel Canon, I would have to remember this one, it was serenely beautiful. It was amazing standing this close to the organ, it felt as if it was alive, a great musical beast capable of the most gorgeous sounds, I was so looking forward to my lessons; I hoped I was good enough; as Mr Davis finished this first piece, he looked at me, tears running down my cheeks, it was so beautiful, he nodded approving of my emotion. `Are you ready Davy? As everyone is arriving and seating, I will start with Zadok the Priest, Minister Montrose has then selected the following hymns, Holy Holy Holy, then, To God be the Glory, then for the small ones, All things bright and beautiful and then, O God our help in ages past and finally, Immortal Invisible God only wise and I thought I would close with Saint Saens, the finale and maybe Widor Toccata . What do you think? `I am sorry Mr Davis; I don't know all of those pieces' `Well let me play them through and you can tell me what you think' Archie takes up the story I was so pleased to be back; I parked the car in one of the garage spaces and was making my way in through the back entrance. `Archie, oh sorry, Mr Campbell' I gave Forts a wink. `Come here I need a hug, how are the horses? How's Daphne? We shared a big hug; I love the feel of his firm body, I sneaked a kiss too. `Oh, they are all fine Mr Campbell, especially Daphne' Forts grinned and blushed, he loved that little foal. `Mr Campbell, did you send some more horses here last night? Well they look like ponies actually, we found them tied to the paddock fence, seems they were left here over night' I shook my head `What someone left them here?.......Come on you had better show me' I began following Forts, back down the main stairs to the front door. `Archie, your back, weren't you going to say hello? `Athol, of course, but I was side tracked, good to see your back safely too' Athol's face lit up seeing mine and mine on seeing him, he nodded. `Sorry Athol, I won't be long, Forts was just going to show me some horses that turned up overnight' Athol's face dropped. `Oh okay, well I will catch up with you once Forts has finished with you then' I nodded; Forts looked at me as we crossed on to the gravel outside. `Is Mr MacDonald okay? He seems to be acting a bit strangely, especially round me, I haven't done anything wrong have I? `Not that he has told me, have you been up to something? `No, Sir' Forts, always looked so guilty when challenged and sounded so serious as he tried to justify himself, I winked, and gave him a playful punch. `Gotcha, I will see Athol later and find out for you' Forts blushed. The six ponies; yes, definitely ponies, were still tied to the fence posts of the paddock. `And this is how you found them? Forts nodded, a flash of white caught my eye on one of the posts, it was a letter, I winked at Forts. `Did you miss this then Sherlock? I opened the letter, in a beautiful copper plate handwriting it said. "We are unable to care for these wonderful ponies anymore, we hope his Lordship will take them in, I will drop off their tack tonight, if I see they are in one of the paddocks" `Well that's the end of the mystery then, they have been dumped' Forts, looked horrified at my use of the word dumped `But surely they can stay here, Athol will let us keep them' `Forts horses aren't cheap to keep, why do you think this person wants rid of them' `But... but we could use them for the little ones, teach them about horses and teach them how to ride' Forts, eyes were wide, practically pleading me. `Well they can't stay out here, tied up like this all night, give me a hand to get them into the empty paddock until we can get a vet to look at them' `So, we can keep them? `Hold on Forts, I never said that, let me speak to Athol, come on show me the rest of them, I've missed Morag and little Daphne' I set off following Forts, down to the main stables, together we made sure they were all fed and watered and locked down for the night. `Forts, follow me, I want to ask you something' I made my way up to the room above the entrance arch. `Come and sit down here on these bales' Forts face looked worried `I have done something wrong haven't I? `Don't be daft, come here and give me a hug, I have missed you' He gave me one of those amazing smiles and came up to me, his feet shuffling between mine, I wrapped my arms round him tightly. `Do I get a kiss too? He leant forward and our lips pressed against each other's. `I love you Archie' I felt my hands drop to his bum, I squeezed it gently, he looked embarrassed `Is this okay Archie? ...Is it okay for us to do this I mean? `We won't, if you don't want too' `But I do want too, but I don't want to upset Davy or Athol' I loved this guy but could see, the struggle taking place within him, I let go of him and stepped back. `Well done Forts, well done, let's see what they both say, that way it will be only sex and no one risked getting hurt' He nodded as I hugged him again. `Come on let's get back to the Castle' He turned and began walking for the door, he stopped and looked back. `I'm sorry Archie, I do love you, you know that, I hope' He gave me a quick peck on my lips and headed down the stairs. **************** Guy's Thank you for taking the time to let me know you're enjoying this story.
