Davy nodded, Forts and I sat up and watched as they both stripped off and clambered onto the bed. ***************** Operation Pied Piper – Part 45c Athol takes up the story `Come on you, let's leave these two lovebirds to it, I need a shower' Archie, gave me a kiss and hauled himself off the bed. `See you two later' He leaned over and kissed Davy then Forts, we gathered up our kilts and headed out up to our room, I stopped remembering I wanted to say one last thing, but Forts and Davy, were already snogging and getting into each other, oh well, it would wait. `I'm first in the bath' I shouted as I closed the bedroom door and darted into the en-suite, Archie came and stood naked at the door as I ran the water. `I hope you're okay, with me and Forts, having some fun? Archie looked at my face closely. `Of course, I am, hey, unless you're going to leave me' `Never' He walked over to me, his spent dick hanging, red and tired over his empty balls. `Come here, I want a kiss' He pushed his arms round me and pressed his lips to mine `He called me an old man' I laughed, turning off the water `We are compared to them' He sighed and nodded, then cocked his head at me `You still haven't told me what happened in London' `I know' `Surely it can't be that bad? `Let us have baths and then we can have a drink and I will tell you all about it' `We are not really going to lose Forts, are we? `That's what we need to talk about, have you thought about these ponies anymore? `I am more interested in talking about Forts, Athol to be honest' `I know, but let's deal with the easy things first; do we keep them or get rid of them? `Keep, I think' `We can afford that? `Yes, I think we can grow most of their food here at the Castle and we have plenty of grass' `Good, well they can stay then, I will let you tell Forts' Archie nodded `He is going to be so pleased, so are the other boys' I tried to hide my concern. Archie smiled at me as I climbed into the bath, the warm water engulfing me, there is something strangely comforting about a warm bath; maybe deep down in our subconscious it has something to do with floating inside our mothers before we are born, I closed my eyes, loosing myself; what to do about Forts, I still had to get it straight in my own head. `Come on you, it's my turn' `Archie, sorry I must have nodded off' I hauled myself out of the bath, Archie turned on the hot tap warming it up some; with all the cum he had on his body, it would be like soup within minutes anyway. Thirty minutes later we were back fully dressed and sitting in front of the fire in the staffroom. Archie handed me a drink `well? `Yes... Forts' I took a swig of my drink, it burned on the way down. `Okay, you know I tried to speak to the Solicitor on the phone and they wouldn't tell me anything' `Yes, that's why you got the train down, what did they say' `Well, it turns out Forts is an orphan. His parents, it appears that they were both killed in Vienna during the July 1927 revolt, no one seems to know how they became involved in it though. The only other thing I could find out about them was that; it seems his parents were a bit Bohemian, his mum a stunningly beautiful singer and his father a successful Industrialist. After their deaths his fathers' brother, became his legal guardian; but could add very little about the boy, apparently. Oh, other than his parents had named him after the Constellation Draco which was in the ascendency when he was born. His uncle was to run his father's business until Forts was old enough to inherit it, although it appears his uncle instead sold the business and brought him to England aged three. His surname wasn't Fortnum either, apparently his uncle saw the shop in London and decided to call him after one half of it so he would fit in better' `Aged only three, poor kid? `His uncle wanted nothing more to do with him really and instructed Bryan, Jones and Lynn Solicitors to set up a trust fund to care for the boy until he was finished full time education' `Who looked after him? Where is his uncle now? Archie moved forward on his seat `From what I can find out, a nasty woman, who was only interested in the money; not in providing a loving home, he was more like a lodger in her house, remaining so, when he joined Harrow Boys School aged eight'. `Well he should be very proud of himself, he is an amazing young man' I continued `Legally, a boy unfortunately' Shaking my head, I took another drink, Archie's eyes never leaving my face. `I even spoke to the old headmaster, he says he barely noticed Forts; didn't even know his first name, only really remembering his fees were always paid on time. Then apparently, his uncle died penniless last year; after a series of bad business decisions, the Solicitors have been trying to locate another relative since then, it appears at the moment Forts has no other living relatives; certainly, none that can be contacted, especially with the War raging in Europe; if there are any there left alive' Archie shook his head; I took another gulp from my glass. `Anyway, Mr Lynn stated he was very pleased to see me, as the money set aside for Forts was all gone' `All gone? `Yes, I challenged how that could have happened too, he rattled off expenses administering the trust fund, solicitors' fees; all the usual blood sucker crap. The long and short of it is that there is no more money to pay any more fees' `Is that why, you said he has to leave? ...Well I will pay them' `Archie, you know me better than that, I have already waived the fees, money is not the problem' `What then? `Well, with his uncle dead, he has no legal guardian and while he is still a child, and in the absence of anyone to take on the role, they have to apply to the courts for him to become a ward of the state, which would mean; as he is penny less too, him having to return to London and either being put in a children's home or into one of the Public Assistance Institutions' `Public Assistance Institutions? Archie looked at me questioningly, I felt my eyes glassing up; I took another stiff slug of my drink. `I haven't heard of them, what are they? `Oh, you have Archie, they used to be called... Workhouses, the name was changed in 1930' My voice cracked and I felt a tear running down my cheek, Archie jumped up. `No, no, it can't happen... not to Forts, not a workhouse' Archie knelt down in front of me, taking hold of my hands. `There must be something we can do? I took another drink. `As well as speaking to `Bryan, Jones and Lynn', I managed to speak to my family's solicitors `Mishcon'; Unfortunately, due to his age, there doesn't appear very much we can do...They, can see only two possible thing's, well three, if you consider doing nothing....and that is why I have been thinking about this for a few days...I am sorry...I know your concerned too, ... but I had to get it straight in my head, ...as it could affect us; you and me too' `For Christ sake Athol, what is it? `Other than adoption, the only thing I can do is apply to become his legal guardian, both Forts and the Court would have to agree to that...But, and it is a big but, if anyone was to allege in court that I am a homosexual and live a depraved life, they would undoubtably decide against us, the question is do we take that risk, if we lost the case, It would be all over the papers, the school would have to close, Forts would be forcibly taken from us' Archie, took a drink `Can you do that? Become his legal Guardian' `Well, as I said, only if Forts agrees and the Court of course, but it is a huge step and may not be easy, are we ready for any possible outfall? As I said you could end up being dragged into it too' Archie stood and picked up the decanter and filled both of our glasses. `Well who could speak against us? `Have you forgotten Mr Duff already' `He wouldn't, surely? `Wouldn't he?........ So, Archie, we have to be sure we are prepared to face anything' I looked up at him, `Well, are you? He looked very serious before he spoke `I am if you are' `Yes, I am... it has got to be worth the risk; for Forts, if Mr Duff appears, we will have to deal with that then, I suppose he can always be paid off' Archie shook his head `Or meet with an unfortunate ...accident' We both exchanged glances and took another drink. `So, Archie, we are agreed, I am going to apply to become Forts legal Guardian; yes? Archie nodded. `You have my complete support Athol, ...does Forts know any of this yet? `No, I said I would speak to him, but...I am struggling with what to say, what if he says no, Archie? You know how independent he can be' Archie sat down on the couch next to me and hugged me tightly. `Well there is only one way to find out? He kissed me on the cheek and wiped away my tears with his hankie. `True, do you think I should speak to him alone or with Davy? `Athol, I don't know, ...it may be best to speak to Forts see what he is happy with Davy knowing' `Archie, it is getting late, you go on off up to bed, I am going to sit here a while longer, I don't think I could sleep anyway' Archie, kissed me again `Try not to be too late and remember you're not on your own, I am here to help' I never made it to bed, I fell asleep in the chair, Archie woke me later that morning, he threw open the curtains, as I got to my feet. `Athol, I have had an idea, you remember how to ride don't you? I was about to nod `Well it's been a while' `Come on, it's a beautiful morning, I have saddled up Baxter and Thunder, I told Forts, you wanted to go for a ride and asked him to take you; he is downstairs' `Archie...' `No time like the present' Archie pulled me to him and kissed me. `Wish me luck' I felt a pang of fear, my stomach turned in response. `What if he says no Archie? Archie hugged me again and kissing me once more `We will cross that bridge, if and when we come to it...together! I swallowed and headed downstairs and outside into the morning sunlight. Forts was standing gently taking to Baxter and Thunder, he smiled as I approached. `Good Morning Forts' `Morning Athol...this is great, I didn't know you could ride? `You just make sure you look after me, it's been a while' Forts nodded smiling, we mounted up and set off at a walk into the paddock side by side, after a few moments Forts turned to me. `Archie said you wanted to talk to me, it's not about yesterday is it, you're not cross with me, are you? `Forts no, of course not, we both love you; I have no problem with that' He smiled and clapped Baxter. `Phew, I was panicking' My mind was racing, I had no idea how to start the conversation, but I should have engaged my brain first; as I heard myself blurt out. `Forts, ...you never speak about your childhood' He looked round at me; his face looked like I had touched on a taboo subject; something nothing to do with me. `Is that a problem? `Not at all, but it recently dawned on me that you never get letters or parcels from home, or birthday presents' `So' `Well, you never say...' Forts, smile had gone, he pulled up his reins agitatedly, as he snapped `I don't want to talk about it' I had definitely touched a raw nerve, Forts, kicked on Baxter and set off at canter across the field. I hoped I still remember how to control these bloody things, I kicked on Thunder. `Forts wait, please' I managed to get alongside him, and grabbed at Baxter's reins, Forts glared at me, tears running down his cheeks. I pulled both the horses to a stop and dismounted. `Forts, stop, come down please, please' He steeled his face, rubbing the tears from his eyes and swung his leg over the saddle and slid to the ground. `Forts, I am not prying, please, I am concerned' `What have I done wrong? I don't need a family; I don't need anyone' `Oh Forts, please, you have done nothing wrong, you're an amazing guy, ...we all need someone Forts; come here' I tied the horses to a nearby tree, `Let's walk a bit' We walked on in silence to Muchalls burn, he turned to look at me and sat on a fallen log, he stared into the water. `I often come here to think' He said, picking up a handful of pebbles `It's beautiful, I can understand why' He tossed a small stone into the water. `Isn't this where you fell in with Carstairs? He laughed nodding and pointing a little further up the stream. We sat in silence, I knew I had to speak and just went for it. `Forts, Look, I know you are an orphan, I know that your parents died when you were three and you were brought to England and left with that awful woman. He stared at the water; his eyes rapidly turning glassy `Forts, there is no easy way to tell you this, your uncle died last year, the firm of Solicitors he instructed to look after you, have been searching for any other relatives; there are none.' `I'm okay on my own, I don't need anyone...if I have learned anything; I learned that' `Forts, it's not that simple, you are still in the eyes of the law a child, you have to have a legal guardian' `Or what? `There is no, or what Forts, as a child you must have a legal guardian' Another stone was thrown into the water `So, I have to leave, is that what you're saying? ... I will just run away then' He muttered under his voice as he stood up. `Oh well, thank you for telling me, when do I have to leave' He rubbed away the tears running down his cheeks; embarrassed by them. He turned to walk back the way we had come. `Forts, please sit down, ...Christ I am making such a mess of this...Drageon, stop, I want to become your legal guardian' He stopped and looked at me, his face giving nothing away. `Drageon, I want to become your legal guardian, but you have to agree and want that too, no one can force you, if you don't want me too' He looked at me even more intently. I couldn't stop myself carrying on. `That way you can stay here' Forts stood, his face giving nothing away, his beautiful green eyes never leaving mine. I didn't see any point into going into his dire financial position. `Well, there it is... have a think about it, maybe speak to Davy, take your time, ...I know it is a big decision to make...after all you don't really know me, I am only one of your teachers' He looked straight at me, I got up patting him on the shoulder, `Just think about it' I turned and began to walk back to the Castle, he took hold of my arm, stopping me. `Athol, are you sure? I nodded, losing it, unable to speak, he grabbed hold of me and we hugged, we hugged for a long time. I eventually managed to pull myself together. `Is that a yes then? `Yes, it's a yes' We sat back on the log, hugging, crying, laughing and smiling. We obviously lost track of the time, because Archie appeared with Davy, Davys face tear stained, Archie spoke. `We found you, I hope you don't mind Forts. Davy, realised something was wrong and was jumping to all sorts of conclusions and getting all upset, so I told him' Davy broke from away from Archie's arm and threw himself at Forts, Archie looked at me; all I could do was nod and blub `He's said yes' So, there we were two couples in each other's arms, sobbing our hearts out by a stream in Scotland. How we got back to the castle, I don't remember, but we did go out to eat that night and celebrate. Davy takes over the story Not that I was really involved, but I know that Athol had phoned his Solicitor to get the ball rolling, Forts, had been a bit thoughtful for a few days, we had decided to keep it to ourselves rather than make it general knowledge. The morning assembly was called to order, just as the radio crackled out. "This is London and now the news at ten o'clock Friday the 16th of August. Large formations of German Aircraft have continued to attack shipping in the English Channel and targets in Southern England. Yesterday the 15th of August the RAF shot down Seventy-six German planes for the loss of thirty-four of ours; the majority of our crews were rescued". I noticed the masters exchanging glances, the air war was definitely getting more intense; I hoped Gethin and Callum would be okay. Athol stepped forward. `Boy's, as I mentioned a few weeks ago, we are going to be getting a number of new pupils, a complete class of new first years, numbering twenty if I am not wrong' Archie glanced at Mr Lucas who nodded. `Additionally, we are being joined by six new boys who will be joining the second years and two new third years, all ready for the move up into the fourth year. Oh, and great news, I am sure you will all be pleased to welcome back to the school Henry Downton, you will all remember that his brother was killed on board the Battleship HMS Royal Oak, Henry will be re-joining us' Oh, I remember him, a blond cherub, I wondered if he still had the tartan sock flashes, I gave him to remember us by. `So, when will they be here, I hear you ask? The answer is tomorrow and then I will be officially welcoming and introducing them at the Sunday Service, right I would like to invite Mr Campbell to say a few words, another exciting announcement' Archie, smiled and stepped forward, he waved for Forts to join him. `Boy's you will all have seen our ever-growing number of horses and ponies; I want to thank Fortnum here and his growing team of helpers for looking after them all. I am pleased to let you all know that we will be offering horse riding lessons as an after-school activity, thanks to Forts here' Archie stood back and began to clap, soon joined by all the other masters and pupils; Forts smiled, his beautiful green eyes gleaming in the morning light. **************** Guy's Thank you for taking the time to let me know you're enjoying this story.
