He felt that he was making Matt uncomfortable. "I should probably get back and help Devon with dinner. Can I come back? Do you want me to stay away, cuz if you do, I will." "I told you before, you and Devon are always welcome here. You can come back whenever you want." With that, Cole stood, and gave Matt a friendly hug, said goodbye and walked to the glass door. He turned as he opened it and said, "I really did like that and I hope we can do it again sometime." Then he walked out the door, closing it when he was outside. He walked back toward Devon's house thinking if he should or shouldn't tell Devon what had happened. At the same time, Matt was sitting on his couch, his face in his hands, crying. Chapter 10 - Honesty... or not. As soon as Cole had left, Matt's turmoil peaked and he couldn't help himself, he sobbed like a baby. He'd violated a trust, one thing that was more important to him than his own pleasure, or had he? He recovered some of his composure and sat back to think. He looked at it from one side, then the other, and was unable to resolve it in his own mind. He made a decision. He needed to consult his mentor. He picked up the phone and dialed the all too familiar number, even though it had been several years since he used it. The man answered. "Hi, it's me, Matt." "Matt! It's been so long, how have you been?" "I've been well, but I have a situation I need your help with. Can we meet?" "Absolutely, tell me when and where, I'll be there." Matt gave the man directions to his beach house and was told he would be there as soon as possible. He hung up the phone and started to think about the past. The good and bad times he'd spent with his mentor, and that fateful day when he'd taken the ultimate risk of asking the man for sex and was turned down. He chastised himself for being weaker than his mentor had been. He felt like a total failure. Meanwhile, Cole was walking toward Devon's house, wondering how, or even if, he would tell Devon what happened between him and Matt. Matt's words kept going round and round in his mind. 'Any relationship, especially a gay relationship, must be based on trust.' He was afraid. He knew he loved Devon with all his heart, but feared being rejected by yet another person who he loved and supposedly loved him. He arrived at Devon's house still unsure of his decision. When he arrived, Devon was not yet home. He sat on the ground outside the front door, alone with his thoughts. Devon had made his selections at the store and was paying for his purchases. Again, he was pleased that he'd gotten everything he needed and still had money left over. He thought that he'd made pasta on one night, poultry on the next, so today he decided to get some fish. He'd selected a nice large Salmon fillet. One large enough that all three of them could share it and still have leftovers. He got a fresh broccoli for the vegetable and decided that he'd make another rice pilaf to accompany it. He even got some Lemon Sorbet for desert. He paid for his purchases and left the store on his way home. Devon arrived and entered through the garage on the side of the house away from the front door. Neither he nor Cole saw the other. He proceeded to the kitchen and began making preparations for dinner. He thought about it and remembered that Cole would probably return by way of the front door so he went to unlock the door so Cole could get in. Cole, in the meantime, was still torn between telling Devon and not. Without realizing it, he was speaking to himself aloud. Going over what he might say, practicing it, over and over. Devon arrived at the front door and heard through it Cole's voice. He heard what Cole was saying. He was surprised at what he heard. He leaned against the door and felt tears coming to his eyes. He was hurt. Deeply. He and Cole had been together such a short time, and already he heard that Cole had been sexual with someone else. He was more upset with the fact that it was Matt. He stood there listening to Cole's words and thinking about his own feelings. In a leap of maturity, he realized that if the situation were reversed, would he have acted differently? He realized that Cole was trying to figure out how to tell him. He wasn't trying to figure out a way to not tell him. He opened the door startling Cole. He looked at his boyfriend who saw the love in Devon's eyes. "I heard you, Cole. I wont say I'm not upset, but I understand. I love you more than you can imagine. We will get through this." Cole heard Devon's words and immediately felt very small and insignificant. He felt himself begin to cry, more out of embarrassment than anything else. He lunged at Devon and wrapped his arms around the boy, and for the 3rd time in less than 24 hours began to sob into the boys neck. About this time, Matt's visitor arrived. He was older than Matt had remembered, but he looked well. The two men embraced and Matt invited him into the living room. They sat and Matt explained about meeting Devon, Cole, and the other boys. He told the man everything about what he had been thinking and feeling. He was ashamed, but he even told the man that he was conflicted over his attraction to boys. Something he'd never felt before. His mentor did what he did best. He sat quietly and let Matt talk it out. He had little doubt that Matt would resolve the issue in a way that would make him proud, both of his former charge, but in the ideals he had instilled in him when he was just a boy. When it appeared that Matt had said all he could, he sat a moment later, looking contemplative before he began to speak. "I think now you understand how I felt so many years ago. Had you not asked, and done more like young Cole had done, we probably would have been in the same situation you find yourself in now. Don't beat yourself up about it. You in no way abused the boy, in fact, it sounds almost the reverse. Boys today are different than they were when you were young. Not altogether different, but enough." Matt sat and listened, he was about to interject when the man stopped him. "Matt. Do you want to do more with either or both of these boys? Be totally honest with yourself and me." He stated simply. Matt thought for a short while and the man could see the conflict. It was something Matt needed to decide for himself. After a few moments, the man knew what Matt's answer was going to be before he'd said it. "Yeah, I think I do." Matt replied. "OK, I thought that was going to be the case. If you are going to do this, you need to set some ground rules with the boys. The best thing to do is to get them both together, here, in private and talk it out. Get them to work with you in setting those rules. This way, it will not appear that you are guiding them, but it will be their own decisions that they have to abide by. Do it soon, Matt. If you let this fester it will be harder on all of you. I'll be around if you need me." The man stood, and again the two embraced. Matt held him tight and knew the man was right. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ There was time before Devon needed to get busy to make sure dinner would be ready before Donna returned home. He was still hurt by what Cole had done, but he needed to let Cole know in the best way he knew how, that he still loved him. He took Cole's hand gently into his own and led him upstairs to his room. He moved Cole around to sit on the bed and he sat next to him. He wrapped his arms around the other boy and leaned down into a gentle yet very passionate kiss. Cole was allowing it to happen even though he didn't feel as if he deserved it. He was disappointed in himself more than anything else. He'd let his lover down, and he knew it. He took a very passive role in what was to follow, allowing Devon to take the lead. Devon was caressing Cole's body which was having a profound effect on him between his belly button and knees. When his hand grazed Cole's crotch, he felt that the boy wasn't hard. Not even semi-erect. He knew that Cole was upset and he could feel that he was sorry. He reached down and peeled Cole's speedo down and off his feet and began kissing the boy from his face down to his feet. Still seeing no real response from Cole's dick, he began to suck on it in it's soft state. This cause it to involuntarily inflate. He was still dressed in his shorts and tank top, but he lovingly ministered to his lover's penis. When Cole reached to undo his shorts, Devon stopped him. He removed his mouth from Cole's penis long enough to say, "I love you Cole, and nothing will ever change that. Please, I know you've been through a hell of a lot the last day or so, and I want to show you that I do love you, no matter what." With that being said, he returned to making love to Cole's dick. Cole was loving what Devon was doing, but he couldn't help but cry as it was happening. He felt that he was unworthy of the love he was getting. But, as is usually the case, his physical self overtook his guilt as he felt his orgasm building. He erupted into Devon's waiting mouth and it felt like he was expelling much of the hurt he'd endured over the previous 24 hours. Devon taking it away from him. This was something that made him feel both more ashamed of his actions and even more in love with Devon. They lay together just holding one another. On several occasions, Cole tried to get Devon naked so he could give him some pleasure, but he wouldn't allow it. On the surface, Devon knew what Cole had done, and at some level understood it. But on another he was severely hurt. Something he needed to work out for himself. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- After a time, the two boys got out of bed and Cole got dressed in fresh underwear, shorts, and a matching tank top to Devon's. They went downstairs to the kitchen and Devon began preparing the evening meal. His cellphone rang and he was surprised because even though Cole was right next to him, the Caller-ID said "Cole". He looked strangely at Cole as he answered the phone. "Hello? Who is this?" He was relieved, but strangely hurt, when he heard Matt's voice. "Hi Devon. Cole must have forgotten his phone when he left earlier. I wanted to let you guys know where it was." "Thanks, Matt." Devon said rather matter of factly. "Look, Devon. There's something we need to talk about. Can you and Cole come over?" "Matt. He told me. I'm making dinner right now, can we come over tomorrow morning?" Hearing that Cole had told Devon actually made Matt feel better. He told Devon that the morning would be fine. They said goodbye and Devon hung up the phone. He mentioned to Cole that he'd forgotten his phone at Matt's. Cole didn't miss the chill in Devon's voice when he said it. Devon said they'd go get it the next morning. Nothing more was said about it for the rest of the evening. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Donna arrived back home at precisely 8:00pm. Devon had dinner ready and waiting and Cole had set the table. Donne could feel that the air between Devon and Cole was thick. She didn't feel the same warmth emanating from Devon as he looked at Cole. She decided that if and when he was ready to talk to her about it, he would. She just let it lay and tried to just go on with the evening. Dinner was fantastic. She complimented Devon several times, each time she saw him beam at the compliments. She decided then and there that if he wanted to go to Chef School, she'd do whatever she needed to in order to make it happen. The meal ended and she began cleaning up afterwards as the boys went into the living room to watch television. When she joined them, they were sitting on the couch, but nowhere near as closely as they had been. For the first time, she was concerned. It took all of her restraint not to confront them about it, but, she wasn't going to be a nosy mother and mother-in-law, so she kept quiet. She just kept an eye on them, hoping it would work itself out. About 10:30pm, the boys went up to bed and shortly afterward she followed. As she passed by their bedroom, she heard them talking softly. She couldn't make out what was being said, but it was a good sign. They were working out whatever it was.
