I think it should be called 'The Opportunity for Fairness Foundation'. " James said proudly. Travis grinned and said, "I will file the necessary paperwork as soon as possible. However, you need to start thinking of a banking relationship somewhere. Within the next few days, I'm going to be bringing you a very large check." James smiled, thanked Travis and told Tom to contact Matt. He'd know what to do. Chapter 28 -- Setting a foundation -- for Good Robbie sat in his holding cell waiting for what seemed like hours. The major emotion he had was anger. He was angry at the guy who he'd beaten for coming on to him. He was angry at his parents for not even showing up for his arraignment. When he'd called his dad, he was told that he was an idiot for having gotten caught. His dad told him that maybe a few days in jail might smarten him up. He was angry at Devon and Cole for messing up what was a great friendship. As all this was going through his head the door opened and another kid was led into the cell. The kid was about his age, lean, and didn't look like he was all that bad a guy. But the moment he spoke, Robbie's blood started to boil. It was obvious to Robbie that this kid was more gay than anyone he'd ever met. He moved to the opposite corner of the cell. The other boy looked at Robbie and said, "Hey, I'm Jake. Whatcha in for?" Robbie looked at the kid with disdain. "I'm here for beating the crap out of a faggot who came on to me? Want some too?" "What the fuck! I was just trying to be nice. Damn, get a grip!" Jake replied. The two sat there in silence. Robbie thinking that the guy really didn't do anything or say anything, it occurred that possibly he overreacted. He looked at Jake then down at the concrete floor. After a few more minutes of silence, Robbie, in a quiet voice said, "Sorry, Man. It's been a really fucked up day. I'm Robbie, what are you in for?" Jake laughed. "It's been a really fucked up day for all of us. I'm in for beating the crap out of a guy who was beating the crap out of my boyfriend!" -*- Devon awoke with Cole beside him. In the week since the miraculous result in Michael's case they had settled into a routine. Devon was thinking that when their relationship first started, it seemed that the sex was the best part. But, now, whereas the sex was great, he was more appreciative of just Cole being Cole. Staring at Cole's face was a wonderful thing for him. Especially, like today, when he was staring at Cole as he slept. Cole then opened his eyes and broke out into a smile that touched Devon's heart. "Good Morning, Babe." Cole said. "Good Morning." Devon smiled. "I sure do love waking up to your face. I can't even imagine life without you." Cole whispered. Devon looked at him, saying nothing. He bent his head down and they kissed. After their tender kiss, Devon parted and said, "Why don't we run by James' place. I'd like to see how things are progressing with his new foundation." The two got out of bed, went into the bathroom and, after relieving themselves, showered, dressed, and headed out for James'. -*- While Devon and Cole were acting more like a 'married' couple at Devon's house, Michael and Matt were meeting with Frank Jefferson, Matt's attorney on Michael's adoption. Frank had told them that the major stumbling block was showing justification why Michael even needed to be adopted. He had two parents, and even though they failed to come forward while Michael was in jail, it might be difficult to get them to voluntarily relinquish their parental rights. Michael looked at Frank and said, "My parents couldn't give a darn about me. When I was arrested my dad asked me if I was gay and I told him that I was. He said that he hoped I enjoyed jail because it would be a cold day in hell before he'd come bail me out. That was why they gave Matt temporary custody." Frank was deep in thought. Finally he said, "I guess I could file a petition stating that in essence his parents abandoned him. But that might cause a different set of problems. They could then insist that he be returned to their custody. It may be better if we approach them with a compromise. What I would be proposing is guardianship, not adoption. You, Matt, would agree to take full responsibility, legally and financially, for Michael. His parents would simply sign an appointment of guardianship of Michael to you. From a legal standpoint, it's almost the same as adoption, other than his biological parents would still have some say in how he was raised, and, of course, they would retain the deduction for him on their taxes." Matt was contemplative. He looked at Michael, who was looking directly into his eyes. He asked Michael, "Tell me, are your parents the type who would think of their own interests over yours?" Michael simply nodded his head as he wiped a tear from his eye. Matt turned to Frank. "I want you to approach the Fitzpatricks. Explain to them that Michael's well being is my only concern, so, in exchange for them relinquishing their parental rights, I'll offer them the sum of $10,000." Frank shook his head. "I'm sorry; it just doesn't work that way. As an officer of the court I could not offer that in exchange for their cooperation. It would be tantamount to me brokering the sale of their child." Matt understood. He had another plan. He turned to Frank. "If they simply agreed to relinquish their rights, then we would not have any further impediments to the adoption, am I correct?" Frank agreed and Matt then said, "Okay, I guess we're done for now. We need to discuss this, Michael, Cole, and I. We'll get back to you when we decide how we want to proceed." They shook hands and left the office. In the car, Matt turned to Michael. "I have an idea. Do you feel up to a visit with your Uncle Trevor?" Michael really did love his uncle and readily agreed to a visit. Matt called Trevor's workplace. Trevor answered the phone, "Trevor Fitzpatrick, How can I help you?" "Trevor, it's Matt Johnson. Can I invite you to lunch? I have someone here who would like to see you." "Sorry, lunch isn't possible, not today, but, why don't you just come by for dinner. I'll bring home Chinese." "That could work, but I will likely have my other son and his boyfriend as well, if that's okay." Matt replied. "No problem whatsoever. I'll be home about 6:00pm." Trevor replied. "Fine, we'll see you at 6:00, I don't need to tell you how much growing boys eat!" Matt laughed as he made that particular comment. Michael simply smiled and punched Matt on the leg. Matt ended the call then called Cole. "Hi Dad. We were just on our way to see James and Tom." Cole answered. "Hi Cole. That is a great idea. Do you and Devon mind if Michael and I meet you there?" Cole was heard asking Devon if he minded. "That would be okay, Dad. We'll see you there." Matt ended the call, started the car and headed in the direction of James' house. -*- Robbie had been in jail a week now. He and Jake were assigned to share a cell. Over the week, the two had formed a kind of friendship. Robbie hadn't realized before that just because someone is gay, it doesn't make them any different than anyone else. He realized that his church was teaching him to hate. In a way, he was a bit ashamed that he'd listened to their doctrine instead of allowing himself to come to his own conclusions. He decided that he'd try to call Devon. He went to the telephone and made his collect call, unfortunately, nobody was home. He'd have to try again later. Returning to his cell, Jake asked why he looked down. He explained that he was trying to call a friend, but he wasn't home and they couldn't make a collect call to a cell phone. Jake smiled and said, "Well, not in the normal way. Come on." The two left their cell returning to the 'day room' and Jake picked up the phone. He made his collect call and when it was accepted he said to the person on the other side that he needed him to put through a 3-way call. After getting Devon's cell number and giving it to the other person, Jake handed Robbie the phone. Robbie took the phone and heard it was ringing. "Hello?" Devon answered. "Hi Devon. It's Robbie." Robbie said kind of meekly. "Robbie! How are you calling my cell? Are you out?" Devon answered excitedly. "No, a friend put a 3-way call through so I could talk to you. Is Cole with you?" Robbie asked. "Yeah, hang on; I'll put you on speaker." Devon replied. "Hey Robbie!" Cole said with the same level of excitement. "Hey. I wanted to call you guys to tell you I'm sorry. I really overreacted about, well, about you two being gay. I've had some time to think and I realize now I was really wrong. Well, thanks to a really great guy I met in here, I came to that conclusion. I hope you guys can forgive me." Robbie said contritely. "Dude, there's nothing to forgive, really. I'm glad you came to that on your own. It really hurt thinking we were losing you as a friend." Devon said. "Yeah, I agree, Robbie. You know we never would have done anything, right?" Cole asked. "I guess that's what I was kinda afraid of. But I know now that was my church teaching me badly. I'm not sure what's gonna happen to me, but at least I got to apologize." Robbie said. Devon wanted to help if he could. "Robbie, I can't make any promises, but, let me talk to Cole's new dad. Maybe he can come up with something to help you. Okay?" "I don't think there's anything he can do, but, if you wanna talk to him, go ahead." Robbie replied then continued, "I really need to end this call; we're using somebody else's phone. Thanks for accepting my apology. It means a lot to me." "Bye Robbie!" Both Devon and Cole chimed in simultaneously. "I will talk to Matt later today; maybe I can get him to visit you if there is anything he can do." Devon said before they ended the call. Jake thanked his boyfriend for putting the call through and Robbie took the phone before they hung up. "You are a lucky guy. Jake is a great person, I'm really happy we met, and you don't have to worry, I'm straight." Jake's boyfriend laughed and said, "Well, you know what they say, Jail Gay, isn't Really Gay. But you're welcome. Take care of my man." "I will." Robbie said laughing. -*- Tom and James were lounging around the living room playing on the new Wii that James had purchased from his new found wealth. It had been about 3 days since he'd received his check from the settlement for his accident. They were anxiously awaiting Melissa coming home after her last day at work. He'd insisted that she didn't need to work anymore; he had plenty of money now to support them. She would head up the foundation once it was fully operational. Travis had stopped by the previous evening to get the final paperwork signed for the formation of "The Opportunity for Fairness" foundation. He told them that by the end of the week it would be a legal entity and they could start looking for a place to set up shop. The bank accounts had been opened with Matt's help. James also had a personal banker he could call on if he needed advice. Matt had suggested that James take a portion of his money and invest it. They worked together for the whole day two days ago, (the day after James' check arrived,) and James had invested nearly 70% of his money in stocks, bonds, mutual funds, and other investments that were relatively safe, but would still allow the money to grow. The rest he put into several accounts. Even though he'd protested saying the money was for him, James gave Tom $100,000. He'd also put a million in an account in his mother's name. He also sent the first check he ever wrote to pay off the mortgage on their house. Devon and Cole arrived and Tom brought them into the living room where James was. James was happy to see them. Every day he thanked god for Devon and Cole introducing him to the person he loved so much. Hugs were shared between the four. Devon told Tom and James that Matt and Michael were going to meet them there. They were in the midst of just trivial conversation when the doorbell rang. Tom answered it and escorted Michael and Matt to where the others were sitting. James saw Tom doing this and again felt guilty. He couldn't wait until he got his casts off so he could pamper and wait hand and foot on Tom for a change. Tom went into the kitchen and got drinks for everyone. When he'd returned the conversation got into full swing. Matt asked how the foundation was coming along. Hearing the news from James, Matt swallowed and said, "James, I think I may have the first client for the foundation." "COOL!" James exclaimed. "Tell me about him." Matt, uncharacteristically nervous said, "This is someone that at least one of us really knows well. See, I have been keeping an eye on Michael's uncle, Trevor. There is a young boy, twelve years old, who lives next door. The boy's mother is a drug user and is usually either high or drunk. Trevor wants to apply to have the boy's mother declared unfit and to adopt him. However, being a single gay man, that's not really possible, and, if it can be done, it won't be easy." James' eyes lit up. "That is exactly what the foundation is there for! To help gays and lesbians get through the legal parts of being able to adopt!" Matt swallowed again and said, "That's not the only problem." He paused then continued, "Trevor and Billy, that's the boy's name, are lovers." Matt wasn't sure what kind of reaction he'd get. He had no doubts about Devon, Cole, or Michael, but he wasn't sure about how James or Tom would feel. Tom got a serious look on his face before asking, "Is it, and has it always been consensual?" Matt answered, "I have had conversations with Billy and to be honest it was more Billy's doing than Trevor's. True, Trevor is attracted to younger boys, but, it was Billy who made the first move. I've also had conversations with Trevor and I honestly feel this can work." Tom whispered something to James. James nodded and said, "I want to have a meeting with Billy. Alone. Once I talk to him, and if it goes like you said, I think the foundation should help him to be adopted by Trevor." Matt smiled and said, "That's fair. We're going to have dinner with them tonight. Well, I assume Billy will be there, he's almost always been there over the past week or so that I've been going to talk to Trevor. That brings up another topic. This one doesn't involve the foundation, but, since we're all here, I'll discuss it, if it's okay." Receiving a nod from everyone, Matt continued, "I have been coming across some roadblocks in Michael's adoption. His parents have not yet agreed to relinquish their parental rights to him, even though in essence they abandoned him when he was arrested. Michael, Cole, hopefully Devon, and I are having dinner there tonight. I am going to try to get Trevor to agree to put pressure on his brother to voluntarily relinquish parental rights. Honestly, having the assistance of the foundation will be good incentive for him to agree to talk to his brother. I won't ask him to force the issue, just convince his brother that it's what's best." Everyone agreed. Matt promised to arrange for a meeting with Billy over the weekend. The rest of their visit was filled with laughing, playing on the new Wii, Matt continuing to teach both Tom and James how to effectively manage their money. -*- Robbie and Jake were sitting alone in their cell. The door was open, but they pretty much kept to themselves. Others were milling about in the 'day room'. Robbie had been puzzled since the telephone call with Dominick, Jake's boyfriend. He decided to ask Jake what he meant. "Hey, Jake. When I was talking to Dominick he said something to me that didn't make a lot of sense." "Well, he does that a lot." Jake laughed before asking, "What did he say?" "He said that Jail Gay isn't really gay." Robbie said. Jake laughed. When his laughter subsided he said, "What he meant was that many straight guys, when they are locked up, still have needs and urges that need to be handled and well, sometimes Tom Thumb and his four big brothers meeting Petey and the Twins don't cut it. So, lots of guys, even straight ones, have gay sex after lights out. Doing that doesn't mean you're gay, it just means you're horny and there's someone willing to help you out." Robbie looked contemplative and tried to hide the fact that he was adjusting his dick. All he said was, "Oh." Jake understood. He figured that sooner or later, Robbie would ask. -*- As they were on their way to Trevor's, Devon told Matt of Robbie's call. After some discussion, Matt agreed to look into the matter and to have his attorney look into it as well. They arrived at Trevor's house and just as they were about to knock on the door, Billy opened it. As usual he was only wearing his bikini briefs. He smiled and invited them inside. Billy took a good look at Michael and grinned. Also, his hand reflexively went down and fondled his own maleness through his undies. He turned and started walking down the hall and also, true to his nature, reached back and pulled his undies out of his butt crack. Michael noticed Billy right off the bat. He thought the boy was cute as hell, and he was only a year or so younger than he was. Michael felt a familiar sensation in his own jockeys. They went into the kitchen where Trevor was setting out the containers of Chinese food. From the looks of it, he'd ordered nearly twice the amount of food one might expect to feed 6 people. They exchanged pleasantries and Trevor asked them all to sit. As everyone was being seated, Trevor looked at Michael. They hadn't to that point even said hello to one another. All of a sudden both of them burst into tears and Michael ran to his Uncle and hugged him fiercely. They held on to one another for minutes, Michael crying into his Uncle's neck. Eventually his tears subsided and they sat with the others. Matt noticed that Billy sat on the opposite side of Trevor that Michael had, and had moved his chair very close to Michael's. They ate dinner and it was obvious to everyone that Billy was very attracted to Michael. The conversation at the table between Michael and his Uncle was touching. Michael expressed to his uncle that he was sorry he'd stopped asking to come over, but he'd been getting the feeling that his uncle didn't want him there. He admitted that when he'd first started coming over they would have sex several times a day and it was something that Michael looked forward to but it seemed to be that Trevor wasn't as interested as he had been. Michael admitted he'd found others who would have sex with him. He'd started charging guys about the time he was 11. They'd been talking for about fifteen minutes after they'd finished eating, just talking about trivial stuff when Billy asked the others if they wanted to swim while the 'adults' talked. Devon noted that nobody had brought swimsuits which got a laugh from Billy. "We always swim naked, it's okay, you wanna?" Billy chimed in his soprano voice. Devon looked at Cole who smiled. The boys got up and went out to the back yard, stripped off their clothes and were heard cavorting in the pool as Matt and Trevor got to the meat of their conversation. Matt looked at Trevor and said, "I need a favor, and, in exchange, I'll do you one." Trevor wondered exactly what this was about but told Matt to go ahead. "Well, Michael's parents have made it clear they're not going to support Michael now that he's come out to them. He's made it known to me that he wants to come live with me and I have agreed to adopt him if I can. The problem is that his parents, your brother and sister-in-law, have not, and will not agree to relinquish their parental rights to Michael. Without that I cannot adopt him. What I am asking is for you to talk to your brother and try to apply some pressure to get him to voluntarily relinquish their parental rights." "Knowing my brother that won't be too hard. I know a few things he'll not want others, namely his wife, to find out about. You said if I was able to do this for you, you wanted to do something for me?" Trevor asked. "It has to do with Billy. There is a foundation I am part of that assists gay men who wish to adopt. They provide the legal assistance and basically handle all of the details. I can get this foundation to work on getting Billy's mom declared unfit and to assist you in the process of filing for adoption of Billy." "Cool. I will talk to my brother tomorrow when we go to play golf. That is usually a good place to talk privately, and he won't just leave because he won't know how well his round went." Matt also explained that James, the founder of the foundation, wanted to have a private meeting to talk to Billy. Trevor felt that would be perfect while he and Michael's father went golfing. Billy's mother usually left on Friday evenings and didn't return until sometime Monday. She routinely left Billy at home alone. Billy usually wound up spending the weekend in Trevor's bed. About that time they decided to go check on the boys as it was far too quiet for four young teen boys (even if one is not quite a teen yet) to be in the pool. They walked to the back glass door and the first thing they saw was Devon and Cole laying on the deck in a 69. Searching around, they then saw Michael, on his back, and Billy going to town on Michael's extremely erect penis. Trevor turned to Matt and said, it looks like Billy found another play toy. Both laughed. -*- Robbie couldn't get the conversation he'd had with Jake out of his mind. He'd had an erection since then that just wouldn't go away. Sure, it would go down for a few minutes, but as soon as his mind went back to their conversation it would inflate once again. Since he'd been in jail he hadn't even thought of jacking off, but he knew that he'd have to do something once lights out was called. -*- On the way home, Matt asked Michael if he'd enjoyed his visit with Trevor. Matt was chuckling as he'd said it. Michael blushed and said, "Yeah, it was cool. And Billy's a cool kid too!" Everyone in the car laughed at this comment. Arriving at Matt's house, Matt was surprised to see John's car waiting for their return. They got out of Matt's car and the boys entered the house as Matt went to talk to John. Devon called his mother and asked if it was okay if he spent the night at Cole's. Knowing the answer would be yes since she was working that night at the hospital, he told her he loved her and ended the call. John was nervous as Matt approached. He hadn't realized that his feelings for Matt ran so deep. When Matt got to his window he was so nervous that he immediately blurted out, "I still love you and want us to try things again... PLEASE!" Matt didn't even hesitate. He bent into the window and gave John a deep kiss. After breaking the kiss he asked if John wanted to spend the night. They went into the house and went looking for the boys. They found all three in Cole's room lying on the bed watching the beginnings of a movie. They all greeted John and Matt said that John was staying the night. He asked them to allow them some privacy. Of course, if there was an emergency, they should knock on the door. John and Matt retired to Matt's bedroom as the boys got more comfortable and watched their movie. Michael turned to the others and said, "Well, at least Dad is gonna get some today too!"
