Chapter 11

You boys hungry?" John asked his two ballplayers.

"Yeah, dad." Aaron proclaimed. So, they decided what they were going to
do. First they would go back to the hotel and the boys could shower and
change. Then they decided on having Mexican food.

shut down the Bombers hitting until the fifth inning, but it would take a
lot to catch the Rabbits who were up nine to nothing at the bottom of the
fifth. Jason Bateman was the pitcher for the Rabbits and he gave up three
runs to the bombers. But was able to shut them down at the bottom of the
sixth. Everyone mobbed him at the pitchers mound at the end of the
game. Adian and Aaron went wild in the stands and several boys from the
Bombers and the Rabbits watched them. As Adian and Aaron where getting up
to leave, Richard and Robby called out and told them to wait so they did.

"Thanks for coming and watching us play." Robby said shyly holding his

room. Adian turned on the water to the shower and was just about to step in

"Dad was just coming in to wake us to see if we wanted to go to the

and ended the game 6 - 2.

"Thanks for coming" Robby said as Richard and the other Rabbits players
came out of the dugout with their equipment.

"Just wait we are going to come back and beat you in the finals." Richard

"I hope you do come back to meet us in the finals, but you have three more
games before you can do that, and you guys could be out of pitching by that

boys dilemma and just suggested they talk with their new and old friends
and tell them that they were going to cheer for the good plays on the
field. It really didn't matter who they would cheer for because they would
have to leave before the game ended.  They met up with Freddy and Bobby
Olson, who were there to watch their cousin play on the Bobcat team. Adian
knew their cousin Chris Barns, they were in sixth grade together but they
weren't friends. He was one of the boys that had made fun of him during
tryouts because of his clothes. Chris's mind has changed after that mainly
because Scott was one of his older brothers best friends. He had heard what
Adian and his mother had gone through, he didn't feel sorry for him, it was
because he knew now what Adian had gone through. The Rabbits were leading
by the time the boys had to leave. Adian hoped his new friends would win,
Aaron also wanted his new friends to win and let them know just that before
heading over to their game.

As they got closer to the field they would be playing on he heard a loud
squeal come from the dugout they would be playing out of.

"Jake!!!" Adian squealed as he ran to his little foster brother.

"Dian" Jake squealed as he ran to Adian and was laughing when Adian dropped
his bag and picked the young boy up. The first thing Jake did was give
Adian a kiss on the lips which had become a common thing between the two.

"I missed you little buddy." Adian said. Jake giggled and threw his arms
around Adian's neck.

"Looks like he missed you too." came the voice of Mary. Adian looked up and
saw Mary, John, Scott and Logan coming toward them.

"Logan!!!" Adian called out at seeing his uncle coming towards him. He
reluctantly handed Jake over to Mary and went to hug his uncle.

"Why are you here?" Adian asked without thinking. Logan hugged his nephew
and notice since the last time he had seen Adian, he had grown taller and
his shoulders had become broader.

"I came to watch you play silly." Logan told his nephew. The two boys let
go of each other and before Adian could say another word Scott rapped his
arms around Adian.

"Dude you look awesome. I heard you went nine for nine yesterday. Hit two
homeruns, two doubles, two triples and three singles. Not bad." Scott said
letting go and looked at his little foster brother.

"Just awesome." Scott said again as he looked at Adian.

"What are you doing here I thought you had a game today?" Adian asked.

"We play at one. If we win we don't play again till four. I wanted to come
see you play and mom said she was coming over to watch you play. So, I
asked if I could and she said it would be ok but we would have to go right
after your game." Scott told Adian. He Looked up at Mary and smiled and
said thank you. The three boys talked for a while until Adian had to go get
ready for his game. Logan, Scott, Mary and John went and sat up in the
stands with the other parents and talked while the boys warmed up. When it
came time Blake called Adian and Kristopher to go up and make the coin
toss.

This time it was Adian's turn to make the call. He called heads, it was
heads and they were the home team for the third time. Blake and the boys
went back to the dugout and Blake called out the players positions.

Batting 1st Bobby Olson pitcher

Batting 2nd Sean Marcus first base

Batting 3rd Kristopher Heinze shortstop

Batting 4th Adian Parks third base

Batting 5th JD Smith left field

Batting 6th RJ Johnson center field

Batting 7th Carlos Livia catcher

 Batting 8th Eric Hooper shortstop,

Batting 9th David Ramirez right field

Blake said he would be putting Freddy, Peter Philips, Jose, Peter Corona,
Aaron and Bryan in at the bottom of the third. After the Rochester Ganders
finished their infield, the Cougars took the field. Bobby shut the first
three batters down one, two , three. It was a good start for the ten year
old player. There were only two pitchers better than Bobby on the team and
they were Adian and Kristopher. But there was a very good possibility that
Bobby would be better than both of them, when he turned twelve. Now it was
the Cougars turn to bat. Bobby got on when the pitcher hit him with a wild
pitch. Sean moved Bobby around on a bunt up the middle to the pitcher.
There was a play at second base, but the shortstop missed the bag before he
relayed the ball to first base where Sean was thrown out by a half
step. Kristopher stepped up and hit a line drive down the first base line
right past the first baseman. Blake held Bobby at third. Adian stepped up
to the plate.

Ting

Adian was rounding first when Freddy told him it was gone. Adian had just
hit his third home run at the state tournament. Once again Adian was met at
home plate by his team mates. Logan and Scott met him at the fence by the
dugout. They high fived. Mean while RJ doubled and JD moved him to third on
a sacrifice fly ball to center field. With two outs Carlos Livia came up to
bat.

ting

Adian turned around just in time to see the baseball just clear the 220
mark in right field. Cheers went up from the bleachers. The Cougars bench
was going wild. The team met Carlos at home plate, hugging and high fiving
him. Eric was up next and Adian met him on the way back to the bench. As
Adian walk past him he said.  "Hit one out." Eric just looked at him and
smiled. Then went and stepped into the batters box. Adian could hear both
Greyson and Braden cheering him on from the stands. The Ganders pitcher
took him to a full count then.

Ting

Everyone watched as the ball went over the center field fence almost the
same spot that Adian hit one out earlier. The Cougars hitting was spot
on. On deck was David Ramirez, but Adian was the first to meet Eric at home
plate . The two boys hugged at home plate and before Eric let go of Adian
he told Adian he was sorry. Adian just smiled and told him he still loved
him. Then they were mobbed by their team mates. Once the celebration ended,
David stepped up to the plate.

Ting

Everyone watched as the ball sailed over the right center field fence. Once
more the team went out to home plate to meet Carlos. The coach for the
Ganders went out to replace the pitcher, Bobby was the final out of the
first inning. Carlos brought Bobby his hat and glove out to him, while
Freddy took his batting helmet, batting gloves and bat back to the
dugout. At the top of the second inning Bobby worked hard to keep their six
to nothing lead. he only allowed one hit and struck out the rest. Blake
could see his little 10 year old was getting tired and decided to bring in
one of his other pitcher for the next inning but he would have to keep
Bobby in for one more inning to fill out his required three innings.

Sean Marcus stepped to bat and hit a nice single just pass the shortstop.
Kristopher then drove him home with a double that went right pass the
second baseman. When Adian stepped into the batters box, the Ganders out
field move back almost to the warning track by the fence. Adian place the
ball just in front of the right fielder who had misjudge the ball. Adian
ended up with a double scoring Kristopher. JD hit a fly ball to the left
fielder, but Adian tagged and was just under the tag at third base. RJ
scored Adian on his bloop single into center field, but was thrown out at
second, While trying to steal second.

Blake decided to move Bobby to center field and have RJ come in to
pitch. RJ allowed three hits and one run to score before striking out the
last three batters.

Both, Carlos and Eric singled and David went down on a call strike after
getting the count to full. The ball was low and to the inside. Bobby walked
and Sean popped up to the shortstop. Kristopher stepped up to the plate.
With bases loaded and two out at the bottom of the third inning.  Kris hit
a nice Texas leaguer over the second baseman's head, Scoring two more
runs. With Bobby on third and Kristopher at first, Adian stepped up to
bat. This time the outfield didn't move, but the catcher went out to talk
to the Pitcher on the mound. Adian knew they were going to pitch out and
walk him since there was a base open. Adian looked down the third base line
to see the signal. Adian already knew what the signal would be, hit and
run. He stepped in when the catcher returned behind the plate. When the
first pitch came, Adian watched as the catcher stepped out and caught the
ball for ball one. On the next pitch the catcher stepped out and caught the
ball for ball two. Both Bobby and Kristopher took off running just as the
catcher began to throw the ball back to the pitcher. The pitcher watched as
Bobby scored and Kristopher slid into second base. with the score now
twelve to one they decided to try and strike Adian out.

Ting

Adian knew it was gone the minute he hit the ball. He could see the look on
Freddy's face as he passed him at first base. Blake had his hands in the
air clapping as Adian rounded second. When he passed the second baseman the
kid told him it was a nice hit. He thanked him and continued on to third
where he high fived Blake before going home. He was met at home plate by
Aaron and the rest of the team. Aaron hugged him while the rest high fived
them and slapped his back. JD flew out to left field for the final out for
the inning.
