I am sorry I have not replied to many of your comments, I am sorry that
has taken longer for me to write this chapter. It may take longer to
write the follow up chapters, I suffered a small stroke and was
hospitalized for three days. I have lost 35% use of my left hand and the
left side of my face is numb. I may struggle but thankfully I am still
alive and still have my mind. It will be a struggle, but plan on
finishing the stories I have started.

Chapter 23

Adian woke with Robby and Richard pressed up against him. He slowly moved
so as not to wake them. He looked at the clock and it read 1:30 p.m.
Adian had met up with them at the big boy and ended coming back with them
to the hotel. The boys had originally planned to go swimming, but when
they got to the room to change, while they were undressing things popped

Adian tell him he was willing to sit out the first few innings. He

Blake knew this line up that consisted of four eleven year old's, four
twelve year old's and one ten year old. Would be a challenge for the
team. Bobby had never played center field before and it would be
something new for him. But Blake knew he could do it. When the time came
for the game to start several parents questioned what Blake was doing. As
it turned out Blake knew exactly what he was doing.

Kristopher pitched three great innings only allowing two runners on base.
Bobby made three plays in the outfield that change peoples minds about
him being in the outfield. Eric Hooper had two nice stops to keep the
runners from advancing and Aaron had a nice catch at third base to end
the third inning. The Cougars were up two to nothing, Blake made the
changes in the lineup as per the rules. Blake put Adian in at second base
and left Aaron at third base, Carlos in left field, Jose in right field,
and Bryan Mars in center field. Carlos was first to bat at the top of the
fourth and got on with a nice single to left field, Jose moved his
brother to third on a double to right field. Bryan bunted and made it
safely to first. Now with the bases loaded Adian was up to bat.

The Chicago Titans knew when Adian stepped into bat they were in trouble.
They called a timeout and changed pitchers. Adian watched as the young
pitcher warmed up. Adian figured he had to be their best pitcher. He was
throwing harder than any of the pitchers he had faced. Adian was timing
his swing with every pitch. When the umpire called play ball, Adian
stepped up to the plate and looked at the pitcher. The first pitch was
high and to the inside, but the umpire called it a strike. Adian stepped
out and looked down the third base line at Blake and he signaled for him
to swing away. Adian stepped in, looked at the pitcher and watched as the
pitcher released the ball.

Blake sent Carlos, Jose and Bryan home and held Adian at third. Blake
thought about sending Adian home but when he saw the throw from the right
field he decided to hold him. Blake made the right decision, because Eric
brought Adian in with a nice hit to right field for a double of his own.

The next two batters did not fare as well; one flew out to center field
while the other hit a lined rive to the shortstop. Kristopher drove Eric
home with a nice hit to left field. Peter struck out to end the inning.
Eric Hooper moved to pitching and Kristopher went to shortstop.

Eric did not do as well at pitching. He walked the first two batters and
the Titan eighth batter brought them home with a double. He then struck
out the next batter. The Cougars finally ended the inning on a great play
by Kristopher. The ball was hit short into left field, Kris made a diving
catch for the out then threw it to Adian who tagged the runner at second
for the third out.

The Cougars were once more at bat and Aaron stepped in to hit. The Titan
pitcher could throw hard but he was not very accurate. Aaron had the
count at three balls and two strikes when the pitcher threw the pitch he
wanted to see. So, with his head down and eye on the ball he drove the
pitch.

Ting

Aaron never looked, he just put his head down and streaked to first base.
He could see his father giving him the sign to go to second, it was then
he looked to see where the ball went. He was surprised to see the
outfielders looking over the fence. Adian was the first one to tackle
Aaron after he touched home plate.

Carlos stepped up to the plate next and struck out on three pitches, Jose
hit the first pitch driving it into left center, Bobby Olson walked on
five pitches. Which bought Adian to bat once more. Adian stepped up to
the plate and watched as the pitcher went into his whined up.

"Wow, look at that ball go." Evan said as he watched the ball fly over
the two hundred thirty eight mark.

everyday and I am not as strong as him. Plus he has more endurance than

bases.

The team met Adian at home plate and as the boys mobbed them Aaron

baseline and Blake gave him the signal to swing away. Kristopher stepped
in and watched the pitcher. He knew he could not be left behind. He had
to catch up with Adian and Aaron.

Kris watched the ball leave his bat and fly into center field. He didn't
see if it was caught or landed. All he could see was first base in front
of him. Coach John was waving him to go to second and he ran as fast as
he could. He couldn't see Eric in front of him so he looked up as he
rounded second and saw Coach Blake waving him to third. Kris had watched
Adian slap hands with Blake when he was going home and now Blake was

homerun. Peter Corona struck out to end the inning.

Eric went out to warm up, But he had to wait while Blake made some player
changes. Not in the lineup just out in the field. Carlos went into catch
while Peter went to the outfield. Once they switched Eric warmed up. Once
again Eric walked the first two batters and was now facing the cleanup
batter. who had gone 0 for 2 so far in the game. Eric worked the count to
two and two and figured he could get him with a fastball. But as luck
would have it, that was the pitch he was waiting for. Eric hung his head
after he watched the baseball fly over the left field fence. Eric struck
the next batter out and was feeling better, but the inning wasn't over.
The Titans scored three more runs before the end of the inning.

"Eric do you think you can finish the game or would you like to play
another position?" Blake asked the dejected boy.

"I can do it. At least I want to try. I have been waiting for my chance
to pitch since the state tournament. I want to prove to everyone I can do
it." Eric told Blake.

Blake didn't need to worry. The Cougars scored two more runs at the top
of the sixth before they were shut down. Eric did as he promised of
course he had a little help from his team mates but they won the game 16
to 9.

Blake gathered the boy's around him.

"Okay we are in the championship game. If we win it out right we go to
the Little League world series. If we lose we still have a chance to if
we win that game. So, I wanted everyone to get some rest. I am not going
to tell you that you can't go swimming, But just don't overdo it. Now
pick up the equipment and I will see you in the morning." Blake told the
boys.

After everyone had picked up everything Blake and John Parsons went over
to the game that was being played. Both Blake and John watched as the
Iowa All-stars took on the Wisconsin team it was a lot closer game then

"So, where is Wilton?" Abe asked Adian.

"It's about ninety five miles from the twin cities." Adian told Abe.

at the hotel. Then turned and walked to the SUV and got in. Adian thought
they were going back to the hotel instead they went out to the Texas

"I thought you wanted to go back to the hotel, but it sounds like your
