Adian and Eric were jumping around and hugging and before either boy

Chapter 8

knew he had to stop. Once they had supper everyone but Scott who was
staying the night with his boyfriend, went out to the living room to watch
TV. That night for the first time in a week Adian slept alone.

The next morning Adian woke up with Scotts pillows next to him in the
bed. Sometime during the night he must have got up and grabbed the pillows
and cuddled with them. Adian got dressed in his running shorts and headed
downstairs. Mary greeted him once more in the kitchen with bacon, eggs,
toast and a glass of orange juice. Adian was told he wasn't going to be
leaving the house without eating first.

Adian ate, finishing everything on his plate then thanked Mary and headed
out the door. Five minutes later out in front of Boyers grocery he met
Eric, and Braden, along with Freddy and Bobby Olson, JD and RJ, They took
the same route as before to meet up with the others in front of Jose and
Carlos house. This time they stopped to discuss the route they were going
to take. It was decided that they would start out at the school take the
bike trail out to Wilton stadium then back into town. The whole trip would
be about nine miles. Adian would like it to be a little longer run, but
figured the other boys would have a hard time going that far. On average
Adian usually put in around fifteen to twenty miles a day. Lately he has
only been doing ten miles, he figured. When the team reached the ballpark
the summer college league team was out running around the outside of the
ballpark.

Aaron notice one of the players watching them run, he gave a quick wave and
the player waved back. Aaron was running next to Adian when he waved. So,
he asked who he was.

"That is Dave Ortez. He is staying with the Hunters during the summer."
Aaron told Adian.

"Who are the Hunters? Adian asked.

"Oh, I guess you don't know them. They are an older couple and they have
been hosting players for the last 10 years. This is David's second year
here, so he is living with them again. We go running and he takes me
fishing when he has days off. Like tonight we are going running right after
practice since they don't have a game. He said he might come watch me
practice." Aaron said

"I take it he is a friend of yours?" Adian asked.

"Kind of, he mostly hangs out with the other players but when they are busy
he hangs out with me." Aaron said. The boys continued on.

When the boys completed the run back at Jose's and Carlos's house, Adian
asked Aaron if he could join him for his evening run with David. So, Aaron
gave Adian his address then said goodbye. Adian ran back to the Boyers with
Eric and the other boys, then said his goodbyes and headed back home.

When he reached the Holand house there was a car parked out front that he
didn't recognize. So, he went inside to find his Grandparents and his uncle
Logan sitting in the living room.
