Chapter 19 is going to be filled with violence. Remember this is not a love story but a story of survival. Chapter 19 It was quite for the rest of the day. Eric one of the younger guys in our group was going around handing out food. When he got to me He suggested that Philip and him go out and scout the outer part of town. Some how Craig had got two four wheelers going that they had found at one of the houses. I told the boys to go ahead but to be careful. The boys said they would and off they went. I saw them head toward the south. It was starting to get dark out when we heard the first of the two four wheelers heading back into town. Philip got off and came running straight to me. He said he had spotted a group of men coming in from the south east. They were still about five miles out of town. He said there was a group of twenty to thirty men. But mixed in with the group there were five or six younger boys who were chained or had ropes around their necks to keep them ahead of the men. Ten minutes later Eric came tearing into town but he did not stop. He was heading to the north side of the town as fast as he could go and we soon found out why. Behind him about a quarter mile were three Jeeps with men hanging out the windows screaming and yelling as they were chasing him. A shot rang out taking out the first Jeeps driver. The vehicle lost control smashing into one of the buildings. Two men got out of the vehicle, but did not make it to far. The other two vehicles stopped to help and when the men got out they began shooting. They tried to make it over to the lead vehicle but were shot down one by one. There was blood everywhere in the streets. David and some of his crew hurried to move the bodies out of the streets. Then they moved the two Jeeps over to the side streets. They had to leave the one against the building but removed the bodies from the jeep. As they were doing this I heard some noise coming from behind me. When I looked I saw Eric making his way towards me. He had a big smile on his face. I really don't know why I did it but when he was close enough for me to grab him I planted a huge kiss on his lips. He didn't pull away nor did he try to fight it. He just let it happen. I think he even tried to push his tongue into my lips. When I broke the kiss he had the biggest smile on his face I have ever seen. "Good job." I said. "Thanks" he replied. "I was hoping that would work. I will do it again if that is what is going to be my reward every time." He laughed. I thought to myself that there could be even more the next time. Philip had a frown on his face and all most in a whisper said. "I never got a reward." So I leaned over and gave him a kiss. When we finish kissing he was grinning like a mad man. With Eric to my left and Philip to my right we ready our selves for the fight to come. But the fight never came at least not that night. We could see that the group of men had just stopped on the outskirt of town and began to start big fires. Six fires in total. Eric filled me in on what he had seen while out scouting. He wasn't able to get to close to the group because they had seen him and started to chase him back into town. I sent Philip out to the others with the information we learned. While he was gone Eric filled me in on a little more information about him and the group he had been traveling with. He said he was traveling with his mother, father and younger sister from Maine to Rochester New York when they had been stopped by the military and place in a refuge camp. The adults were taken away along with his sister and that is where he met up with the other boys. Since then they have been traveling together. It was basically the same story Alex and Aaron had told me. When he finished, he just looked at me. It seemed like he was trying to figure something out. When I asked what he was looking at he just said. "You look so familiar, It's almost like I know you from some place? Now that he mentioned it he did look familiar. Actually when I took a closer look at his face it reminded me of someone but I just didn't know for sure. Eric is good looking. I don't mean cute but good looks. If this war wasn't going on he could have been a model. He was that good looking. His beautiful blue eyes, very kissable lips, he had a beautiful face, blonde hair, solid body and a noticeable bulge in his pants. He wasn't hard but it was enough to want to see what was hidden by his clothes. If Philip wouldn't have come back when he did I would have found out. I really wanted to know. Philip was smiling when he saw we were staring at each other. I know what was going through my mind and I have a pretty good idea what was going through his. But now was not the time for that. We could see the fires burning off in the distance. It was decided earlier that everyone would take turns getting some sleep. We had signal flares that would light up the town that would alert the others to wake the person sleeping. Eric took the first watch. When he woke Philip he crawled in next to me. I woke when he did this. I draped my arm across his chest and fell back asleep. When I felt my arm being shaken by Philip to wake me. I realized that my hand was inside Eric's pants cupping his semi hard cock. I slowly release his penis and slowly withdrew my hand. I sat up and looked around and realized where I was. When I stood up. Philip quickly took my place. I looked around. It was getting close to 5 in the morning. I could see the sun slowly rising in the east. Philip fell asleep right away. I figure I would let them sleep till things began to heat up. Kyle, Ben and Craig had moved to a new position. They moved to the south east part of town. David and his group were posted on the east side of town. Dan, Tucker, and Tyler were near the Walmart on the west road leaving town. The rest of our crew was gathered around the center of the town. I woke Eric and Philip around seven. The wind had switched to the south and we could smell the smoke from the fires. That was when we saw the first group approaching. They were sending kids. They looked like they ranged between the ages of 8 to about 15. They were armed but made no attempt to shoot. Kyle and the others let the group make there way into town. I told Eric and Philip to watch them carefully as I went down to meet them. I yelled out from an alley and told the boys to put there guns down. But none of them made any attempt to put them down. I told them once again to put down their weapons or we would shoot on site. It was then that I heard a small voice come from one of the boys. He said. "We can't they glued the guns to our hands." "Are they loaded?" I asked. Another boy answered. "Yes, they all have two bullets in them. They are watching us so we have to keep moving." Then I told them to keep walking in my direction. I also told them to shoot toward the buildings like they are shooting at a target. I told them that they were to fall to the ground like they had been shot. They seemed to understand. I signaled Eric and Philip to take shots at the boys but not to hit them. The boys did as I asked. One by one the boys did what I asked and fell to the ground. Some of their acting was really bad but they did as they were told. I was surprised by how well they listened. David's crew ran to clear the street of the bodies. While they were doing that a large group of men began to head for the town. I could hear shots being fired by Kyle, Ben and Craig. We watched as one after another fell to the ground. Then from all directions gun shots could be heard. So far the only ones who had made it to the center of town was the group of boys. When the gunfire slowed and came to a stop. I went down to talk to the boys we had allowed to come in town. Erin was the oldest in the group and he was the one I talked to. The boys who were watching them had unloaded all the weapons. So it was safe. Erin told me there were three groups of men. Around one hundred fifty men not including the boys. He said he had heard they would attack in groups of fifty. They had some military hummers with 50 caliber guns mounted on the back. Those would be used last because they only had so many rounds and would be a last resort. I looked at the guns the boys had glued to there hands. I don't know what they used to glue them on but we would figure out a way to remove them. I looked at how the boys appeared, most were skinny and frail. You could see the boys had been abused mentally and physically. All but a few had fresh bruises and marks on their chests, arms, faces, and backs. I would learn later that they all had been abused sexually. Erin said he wanted to help but I knew I couldn't let him do that. I couldn't trust him just after just meeting him. I knew I was taking a chance by trusting David and his group. But they need us now and we needed them. I had Pj take the boys to one of the houses and watch over them. I made my way back to Eric and Philip just as the second round of fighting start. Some how part of the group that was attacking us had made their way down town. Kyle and they others were to busy to be able to help us but we manage to take out the ones who made it in. Eric is a better shot then I thought. He had no experience with weapons and neither did the other boys. But they were doing their best. I took out two men with shots to the head. Philip managed to get one man but ended up using a full clip. The other boys down on the street managed to take down the rest of the men and used their knives to cut the throats of those who had manage to survive the gunfire. They were not going to allow any of those men to survive because of what they had done to those boys. I went down to check on everyone, a few boys had bumps and bruises from diving for cover. One boy had a bullet graze his arm. I wrapped it up and would have Craig take a look at it later. Other than a few shaken nerves everyone was ok. Now that they had their first real gunfight they seem like they would be able to go another round. I told them to relax and make sure they had their target in their sight before they shoot. Once again the boys cleaned up the bodies. I have no idea where they were taking them but nothing was left on the street other then the blood. When I went back up to join Eric and Philip. I could see Philip was shaking and had tears streaming down his face. I walked over to him and held him in my arms. I told him everything would be fine. After holding him for a while, he quieted down. "I am sorry." he said. "you don't need to be sorry. You did nothing wrong." I told him. "I did, I killed a man." he said as he broke into tears. "No you did not, I know it is hard to hear this but if that man had a chance to shoot at you he would have killed you." I told him. Just as I had finished telling him this a man jumped out at us. He shot Eric then turn the gun on me. I had Philip still in my arms and I could see he was about ready to fire. I heard the shot but did not know where it came from. I looked at Eric on the ground. But he was either dead or wounded badly. When I looked at Philip he had his handgun at his hip. I could see wisps of smoke coming from the barrel. I asked Philip if he was ok. He said he was so I got up and rushed to Eric. He was laying face down. There was a small hole in his shoulder upper back and he was bleeding. I grabbed the small medical kit Billy told us to take with. I then rolled him over onto his back. He was breathing and he winched in pain as I did this. Philip came over and helped me take Eric's shirt off there was a small hole just below his collar bone but it didn't appear to break it. There was a lot of blood, so I wiped the wound down and applied pressure. While I did this I told Philip to run and get Craig. While he was gone Will came up and took up position watching over the center of town just incase something were to happen. Philip returned with Craig, He looked at Eric's wounds, on both his front and back. He looked up at me and told me. I did a good job at stopping the bleeding. Then he went to work cleaning and sewing the wounds closed. Eric was out cold through the whole process. I found out later that when he fell he had hit his head on a rock and knocked himself out. Craig told us to keep him warm so he would not go into shock. Craig then went back to his post. It was late afternoon when the next battle began. I began to think this group of men who were attacking us were either very stupid or knew what they were doing. The later would be the case. Either Erin lied to me or they had more men joining their group. I think they figured out we were not a large group and began attacking from the south and the east. Kyle or Ben detonated a couple of land mines taking out fifteen men. They were also throwing out grenades. While still shooting at the men attacking. There were just to many and they began filtering into town. I was surprised how good Will was doing as I watched him take out one man after another. Once again the boys down on the street were doing the clean up after the battle. Any man who was still alive were either shot or had their throats cut. The boys were no longer boys but were now men. A darkness began to fill the sky the fighting came to a stop. Once again fires were being lit just outside of town. But this time not as many. From where I was at I could only see three. Eric finally woke and was complaining about the pain he was feeling. I searched my bag till I found some generic pain killers which took away the pain and Eric was soon asleep again. Kyle came over to give me a report. He said they could see three fires and sent out one of the boys from the street to scout the fires. He wanted to make sure they could get some kind of idea what we would face the next day. He also asked how Eric was doing? I told him he was doing good from what I could tell. A few of the other boys were going around stocking us with more ammo and food. Will had stuck with my little group the rest of the night. We would take turns sleeping. I laid down next to Eric once again and sleep most of the night. I awoke to the sound of gunfire on the streets below. Some how a group of men had made it into town and were trying to take up positions in some of the buildings. They were finding it hard getting through the group down on the streets. Eric was right next to me trying to shoot with his left hand. At the same time I could hear the sounds of a 50 caliber shooting off in the distance. After a few hours of fighting things began to calm down. I grabbed my med kit and went down to check on how the boys were doing. They were a little banged up but no major wounds. More cuts and bruises. Two boys had knife cuts but other than that they were doing good. Everyone was worried about Eric. I reassured them he was doing ok. I went over to Kyle, Ben and Craig and asked how they were doing. The building they were on was shot up, but they were in good shape. They were going to change their location. They felt they needed to because the building would not last very much longer. I thought about going to check out how Tyler and his group were doing but a group of men were heading towards the town with two hummers with 50 calibers. They didn't get very close because two rockets came out of nowhere. Five military jeeps went tearing across the fields toward where the men had set up their camps. We could hear explosions, rapid fire machine guns and more explosions. Will was the one who spotted the trucks coming in from the north east. The had a white flag flying on the trucks. I yelled at the boys to hold their fire. The lead truck stopped just before entering the area. Three men and a young man got out with their hands in the air. As they got closer I could see that the young man was Billy. I told Will, Philip and Eric to stay where they were while I went down to greet them. When Billy saw me, he quickly made his way toward me and gave me a hug. He asked if everyone was ok? I told him we did have some wounded . "Do they need to be looked at right away?" he asked. I told him that they could wait for now. Then I ask Billy who the men were following him. He smiled and said. I will let them tell you. "Hello sir." the young soldier said as the three soldiers came to a stop. "I am Captain Roberts and we have come to help. We are with the US Army troop 125th Division. We were just passing by the farm yesterday evening and we spotted movement so we went into investigate. This young man here and others help to feed our group and then informed us of your situation. We think this is the same group who have been raiding towns and killing every group of survivors they find. We are only in this area searching and helping groups who need our help. Other than that we will not interfere with how you are running things." I thanked him and asked if he or his soldiers need any supplies and he told me they had enough for the time being. He asked if he could let his men take over for us so we could get cleaned up and get some rest. I told him I didn't have a problem with his suggestion. I sent out some of the boys to inform them that they could relax and get some rest and that the military was going to be taking over. The Captain wanted to talk some more so we took him over to the armory where we could eat and talk. I explained to him why we were here and what we had done and what we were planning to do. He had a couple of his men go out to tell his men where the mines were, and what buildings were booby trapped so no one would get hurt. When Kyle, Ben and others joined us. The Captain told us of there mission. While he was doing that he was also checking out the bunker.
