He gestured to them then told them to show us where to take our stuff. He said, "Why don't you two young men follow these two gentlemen while I talk to your father." So we followed these two guys they did not look much older than either Ben or myself. They lead us to what looked like an old store front building, once inside we saw other people cleaning and moving stuff around. The two young fellows showed us to the area we would be sleeping. We set down our stuff and hide what food supplies we had left so that no one else would be able to find it. Ben and I then started to clean up the area. I used an old shirt that I could no longer fit in to sweep the floor and Ben found some cardboard to pick up the dirt. Ben tried to talk to some of the other people that were there but many did not reply or just ignored him all together. So we just decided to keep cleaning. That is when I noticed there were only two bed spaces. We sat down and just waited for our father to join us. I laughed Ben looked at me then whispered "what is so funny." "Everyone thinks we are brothers." I said. Now Ben began to giggle he said, "I never thought of that till just now, I wonder if they notice we don't look anything alike." A little kid about eight years old walked by just then. He stopped and stares for a few seconds before asking where we were from. I told him we were from Carvel Ohio. Where is that he asked? Ben tried to explain to him where it was but the kid had no clue. I asked him how long he had been here and he told us his father and he got here just two days ago, but he had not seen his father since then. Then he started to cry. Ben stood up and walked over to the boy and gave him a hug. That seemed to make things worse the boy really started to cry. Ben tried to calm him down. That is when I took notice that everyone there was either young men or boys like Ben and me. A few of them came over to see what was happening. Ben held the young boy till he stopped crying, Ben asked him his name and the boy told him it was Chris. Ok Chris it is ok me and Jeff will help you to find your father at hearing that another boy spoke up and ask if we could help find his father to. That made me start to worry. We had not seen my dad since we got here and it was beginning to get late. Chris had calmed down and was now asleep in Ben's arms. The other boys had gone back to their areas. They too were bedding down for the night. But I had other plans, I told Ben I was going to sneak out and see what house dad was in. He told me to be careful, he did not want to lose the only brother had. I laughed as I made my way to the door. I thought about what Ben said as I made my way past the first guard, he was right I didn't want to lose him either. If we could not be brothers by blood we were brothers by trials. I went from store to store house to house, many were empty a couple were full of young men not much older than Ben and myself. One house had some women and girls and was guarded heavily, I was lucky to get past the guards. Even most of the guard were young, some not much older than some of the boy in house store front. Finally I found the house where they held the older adults. I didn't see my dad and did not want anyone to see me so I made my way back to the store. Once I got past the guard, Ben was there to meet me at the door and asked if I had found my dad. I told him I didn't he seemed upset then said we would find him. We went back to the area we were given, Chris was sleeping in Ben's bed so Ben crawled in with me and we fell asleep next to one another. Sometime during the night we were awakened by gunfire. Chris crawled in between Ben and me; I laid and listen to the fading gunfire. I figure that a group of men or soldiers tried to invade the town and the men were fighting them off. In the morning the two young men who brought us to the store front came in and told everyone to get ready for our morning meal. Ben and I changed our clothes while Chris watched. When Ben took his shirt off Chris noticed the scar on Ben's back, so he asked him what happened. Ben told him this is what happens when you don't listen. I broke out laughing because Ben told me what happen when we were at the river. He told me, when he was younger he had this beautiful mare pony and he took it out for a ride one afternoon, he said he was about ten; the horse got spooked by a snake and took off running. Ben said he had held on all the way to the farm when the horse came to a stop. He was thrown off the horse onto a plow bottom which had cut him open from his shoulder to his butt. He said he was in the hospital for six week and after that he had to stay with his grandfather in the city till he was healed. We followed the other boys to what looked like an old restaurant where we were seated. Then one table at a time got up and received their food. No one talk as we ate and when we finished we were taken back to the store front. Once back at the store front, I asked one of the young men that were guarding the front of the store if he knew where my dad was? He told me that he was with the other men hunting for food. Then I asked him if we could see him when he got back. He said he would see. Later that day the two young men came back and picked out a few of the older boys and took them out of the store. Ben was one of the older boys they took. I told them I wanted to go with but they made me stay. The young man I had talked to earlier came over to and asked me my name. I told him my name is Jeff. He told me his name was Tom and that they needed someone to watch the boys that were left behind. He said, we could go out the back of the building but never to go out the front of the building. I asked him. "Why not?" he said. "The guards on the top of the buildings would shoot to kill." That scared me. Last night I never would have thought that there were guards on top of the buildings. I was lucky. When I asked him where he was going with the other boys and he told me that in the fighting last night some men had been killed and graves needed to be dug. Then he and the others left. Chris stayed close to me all morning; some of the other boys went outside to play. When lunch time came another guy around my age came to get us for lunch. He introduced himself as Eddy. He asked me if I would help him take the younger kids over to the mess. At first I did not know what he was talking about. Then he explained to me that mess meant the restaurant. So from that day on I became one of the youth leaders which really worked to my advantage. After lunch Ben and the other came back. He was dirty and so were the other boy, so when I asked him why he was all dirty he told me that they had dug one large grave. Then they threw twenty bodies into it. He went on to say that the men looked like the rebels who chased him into the cave back at Turnhurst manor. Ben looked like he was tire. I told him he should go take a shower. There was one set up back in what use to be the meat cutters area. He smiled then said only if you wash my back. I laughed and told him I would. We showered along with a few other boys who got the same idea from us. It was then that I found out the real reason why Ben wanted me to shower with him. A few of the boys started doing something that I had never imagined. One boy knelt down in front of another boy and took his youth in his mouth. Ben and I hurried out of the shower we did not want to get involved with the other boys. In a way, I was disgusted and in another way I was intrigued. I would never have thought of doing that on my own, two weeks ago I had just learn how to masturbate with the help of Ben. Now when I masturbate I think of Tyler. The thought of him just turns me on and now after watching those two boys doing what they were doing I got excite. I could tell that Ben was also excited. In the two months that we had known each other our youths had grown in size along with our bodies. Ben was at least two inches taller and his shoulders were wider. I was also filling out with all of the walking we have been doing my legs are more filled out. Plus the supplies that Tyler had given us were protein packs so my upper body was filling out too. My youth was also growing to it was longer and thicker and there was a lot more hair around it than before. When we got back to our little area we finished dressing. Ben and I have seen each other naked many times but here he tried to hide himself because of the many boys always gather around us. Chris was there too. I also tried to hide mainly because my youth was standing out against my body and it was getting harder and harder to hide the size of it was now a good six inches longer and growing. So after we got dressed Ben and a few of the other boys went and slept for a little bit until Tom and Eddy came to get us for supper. Tom informed Ben and the other guys that they had to listen to me. One of the older boys asked. "Why should we listen to him he just a kid?" Tom told them. "Because that kid could kick your ass if he wanted to and if he don't I will. Now do what I tell you or you will find out." The boy shut up and moved back into line. Tom and Eddy lead us to the mess hall where we were told to sit down and once again table by table went to get there food. When we were finished eating I was told to lead the group back to the housing area. This was the beginning of the leadership. From that day on I would lead the group to breakfast lunch and supper. I would also look after the house when the older boys were taken out to do chores, garden and dig graves. Sometimes in the evening Tom and Eddy would come to get me and take me out to lift weights and to train. This went on all throughout the winter and into spring. Every once in a while I would sneak out to see if I could find my father but, I was not able to find the house in which my father was been held. But knew I would find it one day. When I did find it I was not able to talk to him but at least now I knew he was ok. I was getting stronger and so was Ben with all the work they had the older boys did. The winter was tough but we had enough supplies and blankets to keep everyone warm. One of the boys that stayed with us in the housing unit was very bright. He took some of the shelving and the old furnace system that was left in the store he built a make shift furnace. We found some old wood and tried it out. The first time we lit the furnace we fill the store with smoke. Brandon finally figured out that he needed a smoke stack to draw the smoke out of the building. We were given permission by the big boss to go out and chop wood and to stock it next to the building. Brandon even tinkered around with one of the old gas generators and one night he got that running. We had lights in the old store for one night before the big boss had his men come and take the generator out then had Brandon connect it to his house so that he could have light. Brandon was soon taken from our housing unit and put in another unit. But we were lucky we had someone even smarter than Brandon in our unit and to my surprise it was little Chris. He helped Brandon with the furnace and he really was the one that figure out how to get the generator going but he told Brandon not to tell anyone how he did it. Christ moved into our space during the tough time. The three of us would sleep together. I knew Chris had a thing for Ben you could tell when they were together because Chris would be all over Ben when we would go eat Chris would always hold Ben's hand. I was kind of jealous but I never let it show and whenever I would see them together my mind would always go back to Tyler. I wondered how he was doing and if he was still alive or if the rebels finally got him? As it got cold out I wondered how Tyler would keep himself warm. Many times I thought of just running away to find him. But I could not leave my father behind nor could I leave Ben or even Chris. He has become part of our small family and the way things were going it could even grow more. The reason I say that is because one night two of the bigger boys in our unit decided they were going to make one of the smaller boys their bitch. They attacked him in the shower room. I heard Kyle screaming for help, so I ran to the shower and found Caleb raping Kyle while Terry tried to force his youth into Kyle's mouth. ("I suppose you are wondering why I keep calling my penis my youth. Well my dad always told me to be polite when I talked about my penis and he told me, as a young man I should call it my youth and when I grow and become a man I can call it my manhood or call it by its correct name penis so if you were wondering now you know.") I pushed Terry down and that allowed Caleb to pull his penis out of Kyle. I hit Caleb so hard I knocked out one of his front teeth and with the second punch I broke his nose. Caleb hit the ground so hard he cracked his tailbone. Terry got up and rushed me but Kyle tripped him and he fell flat on his face and knocked himself out. I picked Kyle up and helped him get dressed then took him to his resting area which was next to Terry's. So that night we move him in with Craig and Paul who had the space next to Ben, Chris and I. The next morning I was pulled aside after I took the boys for breakfast and I was asked what had happen to Caleb. I told Tom what happened in the shower room. Later that day he came in and removed both Terry and Caleb from the group. He told me they would be dealt with; we never saw either of the two boys again. Some of the boys thought they were move to another house and other thought they were taken out and disposed of. I really didn't care they hurt someone and I felt whatever they got, they had coming to them. Kyle had bad dreams and for a long time after that and when he did I would let him come and sleep with us. Even though Kyle was a few months younger than me, he would stay close to me because now I had become his protector. Along with a few other boys who seem to get picked on by the other boys. Winter just seem to go on forever. Ben and Chris decided they wanted to get their own area to sleep because the area we were sharing had become crowded. Ben and I were being to grow apart he had found someone he cared about and could care for, we were still friends and nothing would change that. Kyle had become for better word my partner, he would help me with the younger boys, keeping them in line and helping them when they needed help. A few of the adults decided it was necessary that we have an education and it was required for everyone to go. An older gentle man would come to the unit after breakfast. We all started out on the same level. Our group of boys ranged from seven being the youngest to seventeen being the oldest. The younger boys seem to learn faster than the older boys. Of course a few of the older boys could read and write and would help out when others did not understand something. We would be taught for four hours a day. After that the older boys would go do their chores. I would go train while Kyle and Chris would watch the younger ones along with Tom. Eddy and I would wrestle around, at first Eddy would beat me consistently but now I have begun to win some of our matches. I was also learning some kind of martial arts. Eddy told me it would help to protect myself if I ever had to fight someone in hand to hand combat and when I would learn something I would then go back to the unit and teach the younger boys. I figured if I taught them to defend themselves the older boys would not pick on them. Later all the training I gave them would come in handy. Spring finally arrived and everyone had to work even the young ones. Every morning after breakfast we would go out into the fields and pick rocks, then after lunch we would work the field with hand hoes. We planted corn, peas, carrot, lettuces, cabbage, tomatoes and lots of potatoes. We even planted flowers and herbs around the buildings. Later I found out that the flowers we planted could be used to cook with to add flavor. The older boys would have to look over the fields at night so when Ben was out taking his turn in the fields. Chris would come and spend his time with me and the other boys. Whenever someone new would wonder into the camp or a group would come in they would be put in our unit before they were moved. One night Tom and Eddy came and told me the mayor wanted to talk to me. So I dressed in the best clothes I had and went with him to the big house. When I walk on the front steps I notice several guard around and on top of buildings. It was a warm spring evening and the sun was just about ready to go down. I was surprise when the door was opened by my father. I move quickly and gave him a hug before anyone could say anything. He held me for a few moments before letting me go and became all formal. He said I would have to take my shoes off before I was able to go any farther. I looked at the floor and understood why. The wood floor was polished to a shine and my shoes would have scuffed them with the grit and grim that was on the bottom of my shoes. Tom and Eddy removed their shoes as well. My father led the way to a large room where several other men were gathered. The mayor greeted us with a wave as we walked into the door. When I looked around I recognized several boys. All of us had at one time or another share the same unit together. Brandon wave and motioned me to come sit next to him but Tom said we had assigned seat. As we moved to our chair I looked over at him and he had a frown where once was a smile. The Mayor stood up and the room went silent and with a loud voice he said, "I would like to thank everyone for coming and welcome to my home." Everyone clapped. I looked around to see if my father was still in the room but he was gone. Then the Mayor continued, "tonight I would like to recognize a few people who have help make improvement in our small community. The first person I would like to recognize is young master Brandon Quick; he has helped to bring heat and even some electricity to a few of the homes and units." Brandon stood up and took a small bow as he was given a round of applause. The Mayor went on as Brandon sat down. The Mayor introduces a few others and their achievement. Then to my surprise the Mayor introduced me. As I stood up I was shaking. He told everyone that I was one of the brightest kids being taught at the school and that I had a natural knack for leadership. He said that the unit I was in charge of tested out with the highest grades of all of the housing units. He also went on to say that I had one of the most disciplined units of all the units and it was because of my leadership. He went on to say that many of the young men who had stayed in the housing unit respected my ability to make them feel welcome and respected. I was standing there my hands shaking Tom snickered and Eddy was laughing behind his hands as the Mayor kept talking I was amazed at how much information he had on me and it made wonder if he knew about my little night outing which I had start doing again now that all the snow was gone. The Mayor finally finished and the people in the rooms clapped and I sat down. My face was red and I was still shaking. Tom patted my shoulder and told me "good job kid" Eddy did the same. The Mayor went on to talk about other things but I did not hear a word he said and when I looked up I saw my father standing over with a plate of food which he sat down. Then said under his breath "good job son" then my father moved on to serve other their food. When we finish Tom told me to go up and shake the Mayors hand. Which I did. He told me to keep up the good job. Then turned and talked to someone else. I looked around to see where Tom and Eddy were and then I snuck out of the room to see if I could find my dad. I went through the door I saw him come through earlier. It opened to a large kitchen. I walked around. I saw several men working cleaning dishes others were drying plates and putting them on carts and others cleaning up counters. I tried not to bring to much attention to myself. I saw another door and went through it. There was a long hallway with doors every ten feet or so it looked like a few were open. So I made my way down the hallway as quietly as I could. I looked in a few of the rooms that were open and most were empty. When I got near one of the last room I heard what sounded like people struggling and when I peered around the corner I saw my father. He was sitting on top of a naked man naked. From what I could tell the other man was having sex with my father. I ducked back around the corner and when I looked again my father was moving up and down on the man's penis and my father's own manhood was standing at attention. It looked like he was enjoying what he was doing. I knew what my father was doing was keeping him alive. So I moved quickly back down the hallway hoping I was not missed. I slipped back into the main room just as the Mayor dismissed everyone back to our own housing units. I move next to Tom and Eddy as we made our way back to our shoes when one of the guards stopped us. He searched our clothing and pulled Eddy to one side and when he finished searching us he let us go. It scared the hell out of me because I thought I had been caught. When I asked Eddy why they had pulled him to the side he told Tom and me that there were a few things missing from the hall and asked him if he knew where the two of us were. He said he told the guard that both of us had been together. He looked at me and said right Jeff then gave me a wink. We walked back to the housing unit where Tom and Eddy left me. Most of the boys were asleep but Chris and Kyle were waiting for me to come back. I told them what happened and that we needed to keep things up. I didn't tell them of my father because it was none of their business and neither of them knew who he was so I kept it to myself. We lay down and slept the night through. That night I dreamt that my father came and took Ben, Chris, Kyle and me to the big house and there was a man who took turn having his way with us. I woke in a sweat and told myself I have to get out of here and if I could rescue my father before something else happened. I would become one of the trusties so I had free range to go anywhere I wanted even outside of town. So for next few months I would survey the town and the surrounding area. At times it was easy other times it was very hard. I had a route designed but it would have to be done in the dead of night with no moon or we would be seen. When others have tried to escape, they were either shot dead or worst left to starve. They were made an example for others. A few have been children and it is not a pretty sight to see. At first I thought it would be just my father and me. Ben had a life here now and I did not want to take that away from him. But he figured out what I was doing and insisted that Chris and he would be going with. Even Kyle learned what I was doing and now it was five people I would have to hide supplies for us in the woods. So I started my little escape plan by hiding food that would not parish in the woods. It was going to be a slow process. Hiding food for five people was not an easy task and we still had a long summer of work ahead of us. Everyone did their jobs as normal. Ben and Kyle worked in the field every day. Chris would go to work with Brandon when needed while I watched and worked with the younger kids. I was teaching them the skills they will need to survive after we were gone.
