Underground Angel: Above Ground by Zane Hunter- Green, Part 3 It was one of those spring days when everything went right. Well almost. Len was modeling a strapless black gown he was hoping to wear to some party in the village. I didn't have the heart to tell him that he was bulging out in all the wrong places. He looked more like the before pictures, especially with his five o clock shadow. Before what though I couldn't tell you. As he was getting dressed out of his dress, the phone rang. "Hello, oh hi sweetheart" "Who is it" growled Len as he got his chest hair caught in a zipper. I didn't even know that they made gowns that zipped in the front. Trust Len to find one. "It's Sascha, shh I can hardly hear him." "Is something wrong Sash, you sound funny." I asked. He said "no", but being sensitive to him I had a feeling that he wasn't telling the truth, his voice sounded bright enough though. "Yes, yes honey you can bring a friend home. What's his name?... Noah?... I may be late tonight. I have to finish an ad for some cockroach spray. Yeah, it's not too exciting, but I'll be home as soon as I can. AAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!! What was that? Oh that's just your Uncle Len. He's ahh stuck in his dress, and needs my help. Actually he's giving me an idea for the ad. See you later. I love you." I cradled the phone wishing that Sash were here instead. As I unzipped Len trying hard not to rip out too many of his wiry hairs I saw visions of cockroaches doing a strip tease. It was not a pretty sight, but then I had to admit either was Len. "Len." "What Kurt?" "I don't think that black's your color." "Oh you poor, poor boy, of course not. Black isn't a color, it's a value. A shade. I'm an artist remember. The first lesson I learned in Jr. High was that black and white are not colors, even Sascha could tell you that. How is my dear little boy? Did he get in trouble at school." "No he just wanted to bring a friend home." "He never gets in trouble does he, he's such a little angel. I wish you and him would come to the party tonight." "We can't, it's a school night." "Oh yes, how quaint, school nights, poor Sascha, he actually has to go to a school where he has to work. I keep telling you Kurt, that you should get him out of that snob factory that you send him to, and send him to my High School instead. It has a gay curriculum, the boy would be much happier, or are you afraid he may find a boy his own age, and fall in love?" "That has nothing to do with it, and you know it. I only want what is best for Sash. He's not old enough for High School. Listen I have to get back to work." "Those cockroaches again?" "Yes, I need your mock-ups." "They're finished, I went over to Lance's flat last night and there were plenty of live models, if he wasn't so damn cute, I wouldn't put up with his housekeeping." "Why don't you invite him to your place?" "Ahh, I can't tell you?" "Why not?" "Well because he thinks I live at your house?" "WHAT with me and Sash?" "No, my myself. He only likes me for my money, well your money." "This is great Len, really great! And how do you explain that he's never been in your house?" "Because you're renovating." "Renovating what?" "Your kitchen, your bathrooms, your spa, your bedroom." "I'm going to renovate you pretty soon, well start with that black velour dress hanging down your legs." "You really don't like it?" "No." "Who is the boy that Sascha is bringing home with him?" "Noah." "No wonder you're in a bad mood." "Am not, I think I'm acting very maturely." And so the day went until I twisted those dancing cockroaches into a half-assed jingle. Finally I could go home and see Sash, and meet his new friend.
