Underground Angel: Above Ground by Zane Hunter- Green, Part 5 What Sash had told me was so disturbing that I didn't want to think about it in front of him least he read the expression on my face, so I changed the subject. "Your Uncle Len drove me crazy today!" I told him. "What did he do?" He asked, his bright violet eyes looking at me seriously "Well, he is going to a costume ball in the Village tonight. Besides begging me to bring you, he had to show me the outfit he was wearing." "Was it nice?" "Let's see, envision Uncle Len in a strapless velvet gown three sizes too small, and you have some idea of what he looked like." "I would like to see him, can we go to the party?" "No, besides I never asked him for the address. But that wasn't the worst part. He has been telling his new boyfriend, Lance that he lives here." "Can he move in Kurt, it would be so much fun to have him live with us." "I don't think so Sash, remember that I have to work with him. I love the guy, but I don't think I can take him 24 hours a day. I am not a Saint. I don't know what will happen when his new boyfriend finds out that Len was lying to him. He'll probably dump him and then I will have to listen to Len sob and moan the next few months." "Poor Uncle Len, but I have an idea." "What Sash?" "You told me that you have a cabin up in the Catskills. I have off from school for Memorial Day, and we can drive up there, and let Len use your house. By the end of the weekend if Len's friend doesn't love him for himself, he doesn't deserve him." "Are you sure that you're only thirteen?" "A rotten age, isn't it!" "I don't know, you're becoming a schemer like Len. Anyway I would love to take you upstate. I'll tell Len tomorrow." "Why don't you tell him now, you can call him on his cell-phone. That way he can tell Lance about spending the weekend at our house. You told me that he has a key as he took care of Aries when we were in the subways." "Ok, ok, I can never say no to you. You and Len are a conspiracy." I called Len. It was hard to hear him. He told me that he had stopped at Washington Square Park to watch a demonstration for a Transsexual and Eunuch reactionary group for third- sex equal rights. Lance was with him, so excitingly Len told him about spending the weekend at his brownstone. I heard him say the word party, but the rest was cut off from all the noise. I thought I heard police sirens, and yelling but I was cut off. "Kurt, you know I have never missed a day of school, but something happened today that I need to tell you about." Sash told me. "I thought so Sash, tell me what happened" "Well, I was thinking if we go up early to your cabin, I could miss school and have a change to think about what I want to do. I don't want to tell you yet. You might get mad and run to that school and ruin our vacation." "Really, you better tell me?" "I'll tell you when we're away." "Why don't we go up tonight. I can leave a voice mail for Len that we went away for a long weekend. He can use the house. We'll take Aries with us; he loves to run around Pine Lake. We'll leave your rats here if it's alright with you?" " Oh Kurt, I love you!" Sash reached over and kissed me. I gave him a light tap on his irresistible bottom, and we went upstairs to pack up My Volvo was a few streets away in a parking garage. I told Sash that I would bring in to the front of the townhouse where we could double park long enough to load the car and take off. I was starting to really look forward to this. Sash and I had never been away from the city together. 2. Len was in the mist of telling Lance about having a big party at his place to celebrate that fact that the renovation was done. "And I had the best interior decorator in the city Lance, he said that it was the easiest job he ever did as my ideas for the house were perfect, absolutely gorgeous. Of course after my party you'll have a private viewing. Hey you big lug! Len started to yell at a Police officer who was about to spray mace into the crowd. "Can't you see that I'm talking." "Hey, it's the leader! Ok Missy we're taking you in, and booking you in a men's prison." "Over my precious ass!" "Come on beauty lift up your hands so I can accessorize it with handcuffs." Len shrieked as he was led out to a padded wagon. In a few moments he was dumped in a holding cell with 15 previously hardened criminals who were being released on furlough. Len was deep in giving them fashion advice when they came to release him realizing that he wasn't a transsexual. "I could have told you that." He admonished the Police officer. "Well it's just as well I have 15 new friends, and they are real men! Okay guys", he said to the soon to be ex-cons. You're all coming to my party this weekend. My friends will love you! After giving everyone the directions to Kurt's townhouse, everyone exchanged kisses and tears from having to leave each other. The Police officer just shook his head. He had never seen anything like this before.
