Richard immediately drove to where he was being treated, while Ace asked a series of questions. Because I hadn't been given all the details, all I could do was shrug until we arrived there. Pulling into the parking lot, I was out of the car before it completely stopped. As I walked in the ER, a nurse took my name and escorted Richard and I back to where our son was. Coming around the curtain, Collin came over and let us know that Campbell was sleeping having been given a slight sedative. After checking on him briefly, the three of us went out to talk with Ace. Collin explained that Campbell was taking a shower while he was helping Kyle with his hair. The bathroom lights flickered and the two turned to see a black hand push the younger boy against the wall causing him to fall. Given this latest incident, almost every member of my family had been attacked in one way or another. I was angry and ready for it to be over. A nurse came our to let us know that Campbell wanted to see his fathers so Collin waited with Ace while we went back. WESTBRIDGE SPIRIT: CHAPTER TWENTY-ONE (21) RICHARD Phillip and I were escorted back to where Campbell was being treated in the ER. The minute he saw us, he held out his arms and cried. I suppressed a giggle as my fiancé scampered over and hugged him, speaking softly to reassure him. Carefully making my way to the opposite side, I joined them and we soon had our youngest calmed enough to speak. He had been so frightened by the sight of the hand and the blood that he couldn't even scream. We chatted for a couple of moments before the attending doctor came up and let us know that there was no sign of concussion and he could go home immediately. There weren't even any stitches just some strip bandages to cover the scratch and an ice pack. He asked about conditions at the house and I began to fear that they might think we had been abusive. Hearing our explanation, he seemed satisfied and we helped Campbell dress to leave. The nurse gave us our discharge instructions and said farewell. Phillip scooped our son in his arms and we joined the rest of our family. We all headed back to the house and put the kids to bed. The next morning, I phoned Ace and agreed to meet him to pick up Conrad at the hospital. Phillip agreed to stay with the children until the three of us returned, so Frank went with me. After driving to the hospital with Ace, Conrad came down talking with a nurse about a possible haunting in his room. He saw us and mentioned some things he needed from his car. I suggested the two move to Walter's so we could strategize over how to solve the problem. They both agreed so Ace packed up his car, Frank drove Conrad's vehicle, and we made a small 3 car convoy back. At our home, Frank and I helped the guys cart in their bags and Walter set them up in two of the spare rooms. Once everyone was settled, all the adults gathered in the main dining room to go over the latest discoveries. Collin agreed to keep the kids occupied by taking them to school and come back. As we were setting up the room, a delivery came from New York which turned out to be the blueprints of Westbridge Manor and all the subsequent additions and renovations, including all the surrounding grounds. Laying out the ground survey, Frank noticed the series of tunnels between the main house and the outbuildings. Conrad explained that was a common Revolutionary-Era method of assuring servants could get back and forth during long winters and other inclement weather. Kitchens were usually not part of a large estate so the meals had to be transported without being exposed to the elements. Oliver noticed the after the second large wing was added there were several rooms and tunnels that had been sealed. I was unaware of these and thought the Lost Chamber might be one of those. Conrad wasn't sure but noted the location to investigate when we went back to the manor. My strangest find concerned the original location for the family burial plots. Originally they were located where the current greenhouses are now. According to later land surveys, the family crypts were just south of there in an area of manicured garden bordered by the woods. We poured over a book containing private family records to discover that sometime, right before World War I started, the family moved the cemetery to be replaced with the new buildings. This was their attempt to create their own garden due to fruit and vegetable shortages. The specialized houses had been designed to increase the growing time and even the potential yields. It is always tricky to relocate a cemetery, especially if one is attempting to cover up a murder. Elizabeth may have developed this plan as a way of insuring that Quinn Jr.'s remains conveniently forgotten during the move. Leaving a body behind in this manner has been cited in other hauntings as a primary cause for the spirit to manifest itself and wreck its form of revenge. As the family fortunes waned, several of the outer structures were is severe need of repair, replacement, or demolition. The greenhouses needed a complete reconstruction if we intended to keep the estate at all. Conrad and Ace suggested a sonar scan of the site to see if any bodies had been left behind. This would eliminate the need for expensive digging and shifting with no clue if it was even warranted. Phillip and I decided this might be the best solution once we had the cleaners scan the house and property thoroughly. The next decision was to contact the two cleaners Ace and Conrad had located. It would involve a long process before we could even begin the property scans. Ace phoned his source, a 50-year-old woman named Madeline Charles, who lived near our estate. She was both a physical and mental medium who had yeas of experience with spirits and cleansings. The most impressive thing was that she wanted no actual information about the case other than the location. We agreed to meet her next week because the kids were starting classes. Collin and Frank would be around to safeguard the boys while we were gone. Maybrook decided that he wanted to return to the manor as well. He felt he had been neglecting his responsibilities but he did love being considered part of our family. After getting him an appointment with a counselor in New York, we arranged for him to return with us. Phillip made him promise that he would stay in the caretaker's cottage since it was the only "safe" location on the estate. Conrad made arrangements for his cleaner to fly in from California. Virginia Knox was actually his ex-wife, who divorced him following the death of their son. Her area of expertise was Wicca and worked with property cleansing. The only reason she agreed to help out is to alleviate some dreams she had been experiencing. Conrad explained that they were strikingly similar to the ones he had been having. She would meet us in New York and stay at a nearby hotel with us. Having finalized these plans, we set up flights and reservations before Phillip ran to the restaurant to check on Trevor's training with Victoria. I was sorting through some last-minute changes to my upcoming class syllabus when he called me. Trevor hadn't shown up but the manager had a message from the local hospital. I took down the information and raced to meet him there not knowing exactly what we would find. Pulling into the parking garage, I ran to the emergency room of Lutheran General to find Phillip conversing with a tall, young man in a white coat. As I approached, they turned and I recognized Dr. Kensington. He was treating Trevor for an accidental overdose of sleeping pills. Phillip had been contacted because of a note that was addressed to him. The police believed that it was a potential suicide attempt but since the doctor felt it was a cry for help he withheld the note in Trevor's pocket. Showing us back to where he was resting, he looked up and started bawling the minute he realized who was standing there. "I-I-I'm -s-s-so sorry." he finally managed to say through his flowing tears. Phillip walked up, sat next to him and took his hand. Letting him cry until he clamed down, my lover whispered that everything would be alright as he stroked the young boy's hair. When Trevor managed to compose himself, we inquired abut why he had tried something so foolish. I was shocked to learn that his parents just found out he was gay by walking in on him and his boyfriend making out. They unexpectedly showed up at his dorm to take him to lunch and found him and his friend half-dressed and kissing. His companion fled after grabbing his clothes and hasn't answered a single call or text. Once his parents recovered, they packed all his belongings and dragged him back home. They then informed Trevor that he would be seeing a therapist to become straight and if he failed then he was to move out immediately with a minimum amount of money to get started. His parents were basically going to disown him for being gay. Later that evening, he heard his parents leave for a night at the opera. Sneaking into his mother's bathroom, he found a newly refilled prescription for her sleeping pills and took half the bottle in his room. A maid found him on the floor when she came to bring him a meal. If she hadn't phoned an ambulance, he probably would have died in that room. When police managed to reach his father at the Lyric Opera, he informed them that they were not taking responsibility for Trevor and refused to come to the hospital. It was only when Dr. Kensington came across the letter to me that he knew someone to contact to help the boy. Phillip and I sat with Trevor as the police interviewed him and his doctor. Once they were convinced that it was an accidental overdose brought on by stress an school and work, they left him in our care. We discussed the event and informed him that we would arrange for him to finish his education and provide him a paid internship at the restaurant to help with other expenses. I also insisted that he see a counselor to begin dealing with the effects of his parents' rejection, He cried and complained that we didn't have to help him at all. Phillip stopped him by saying that this was something we wanted to do provided he agreed to help another young gay person if he had the means and opportunity. Trevor accepted and we made arrangements to bring him home for the night until we could settle the rest of his affairs. While he was dressing, I made an attempt to phone his parents. Managing to reach them, I explained who I was and asked if they wanted him back. His father got so angry and told me that we had one week to pick Trevor's things before they donated everything to charity and hung up. At that point, I decided to wait until we got home to discuss this development with Phillip. TREVOR I can't believe that I was so stupid not to lock my dorm room door. My parents never came unannounced before unless my grades had slipped. After the last incident at the military school, I kept my grades up and excelled to avoid any unpleasant encounters. As an only child, it was critical for me to perform above and beyond other students. I forced myself to maintain a perfect GPA as well as do extremely well in swimming and tennis clubs. Ever since I was 11 years old, I found myself attracted to other boys. My father was extremely vocal about homosexuals being deviant and dangerous to society so I kept those feelings buried. Dad wanted me to find a "masculine" profession and was insistent that I become a lawyer or other type of professional. Imagine my surprise when my mother discovered and nurtured my talent for cooking and baking. One of my father's great joys is gourmet cooking so he felt it was an acceptable career provided I intended to open my own restaurant in the future. When I landed the intern position at La Belle Visage, my parents were so thrilled since it was one of the hottest eateries in the city. My employer, Phillip Khant, had personally selected me out of over fifty applicants from my class. He managed to impress my parents with his dedication and interest in fostering new talent in the culinary arts field. What they didn't know was that he had a fiancé who taught business courses at Northwestern University. I am certain that my father would have forbidden me from taking the position had he been aware of that fact. Mr. Khant became a mentor and a secret crush, although I would never have done anything to disturb his loving relationship. It was obvious to everyone that these two men meant the world to each other. I decided then and there to pattern my life after theirs once I was on my own and free of my parents tyrannical control. When they found me kissing my first real boyfriend, my father flipped out and ordered me to pack up everything since I was going home. Holding back tears and not protesting, my mother helped me gather my things and load them into the car. Once back at our house, I was informed that they planned to send me to a therapist who ran a facility for treating homosexuals and returning them to the "right" orientation. They also told me to stay in my room since they had ticket for the opera and that a meal would be provided later. After making sure that they were gone, I snuck in Mom's room and found a new bottle of her sleeping pills. I figured that it would be easier to end it all rather than deal with a crazy so-called form of treatment. Writing a farewell letter to the only person I respected, Phillip Khant, I swallowed about half the pills and lay down next to my bed. The next thing I remember was waking up in the hospital with my mentor and his husband standing next to me with concern in their eyes. Apparently, one of my maids found me while delivering my dinner and called the paramedics. Police arrived and began an investigation of a suicide attempt. They tried to reach my parents and were told that they were not going to take responsibility for me. It was only because the doctor found the letter first and knew Mr. Khant that I didn't end up in the psych ward. He reach out to him and they came to help me. I felt so ashamed and afraid once I realized that they were going to help me with the only requirement being that I help someone in the future if I could. PHILLIP When I entered the ER, I was shocked to see Trevor lying there looking so frail and afraid. He told Richard and I all about what had happened and why he made the choice to end his life. Looking at my fiancé, I made the decision to offer him the help to finish his education and establish an independent life. The two requirements were to visit a therapist to cope with his parents' rejection of him and to help another young gay person in the future if he was ever able. He started crying and promised to make us proud of him. Once the police had been satisfied that this was an accidental overdose, we helped him dress and took him home. I called Walter to let him know what was happening and he agreed with our decision. Richard had tried to phone Trevor's parents but didn't seemed pleased with the results. Since our main concern was getting this young man home, I decided not to push until we reached Walter's house. Sitting in the back seat with Trevor, I made every attempt to reassure him that the future would get better and that we would be there to help him. He cried softly as he clung to my side. Arriving at the house, Walter and Oliver both greeted the young man and show him their support as he was directed to a spare room. After a good meal, I helped get him settled in bed with the understanding that we would go to the school in the morning to take care of the rest of his education plans. Returning to our room, I stripped to my boxer briefs and waited for Richard to come out of the bathroom. He crawled next to me and I moved to rest my head on his chest. We talked about the recent development and decided that we had to return to our condo since we were imposing on my uncles. The discussion lasted for quite a long time until we fixed on getting back to our home over the upcoming weekend. We agreed to have a cleansing done before we returned with the hope that it was going to be enough to safeguard our family. Suddenly, Richard leaned down and kissed me passionately pulling me on top of him. We had not really had any intimate time due to all the stress from the recent paranormal events. I ground my crotch against him and moaned as his tongue pushed between my lips. His strong hands gripped my ass as we continued to explore each other's mouths. I loved doing this almost as much as anything else because it was so intimate. He kissed my neck and gently nipped my earlobes causing me to shiver in anticipation. Rolling onto my back he started working his way down my chest to my navel while sliding my shorts off my legs. Even though I knew what was coming, it was still like the first time because of the love and passion we had for each other. TO BE CONTINUED...
