Bill awoke and sat up in bed to find Roy was also awake, "Glad one of us

home yesterday I think it's time we break out the old home movies" Roy

there is Ruth, how is she going to handle seeing Sarah again?" he added,
"It will be hard on everyone there is no doubt but I think we need to do
this as a family" Bill said. "You know Robert is in a lot of those too" Roy
said, "He was so young though I doubt Katherine or Henry would recognize
him" Bill said. "So we are really going to do this?" Roy asked, "It sure
sounds that way, family movie night" Bill replied.

"How do you think the boys will react about the girls being naked in all of
them, especially John seeing his mom naked as a girl" Roy asked with a
chuckle, "It will probably be a shock at first but I think they will adapt

and Bubba hurriedly made his way to the kitchen with Bill and Roy behind
him, they took a seat at the modest kitchen table with chipped paint as
Bubba became a flutter of activity around them. They looked on as the

When the pancakes were finished Bubba happily fixed them all plates and set
them on the table with silverware and napkins. "We need milk and syrup"
Bubba said as he fixed them all glasses of milk and placed the syrup bottle

down in the chair that creaked as he did, "Well they certainly look edible"
Roy said as he looked at the pancakes and then to Bill. "Aren't you going

some syrup on his pancakes, cut into them, and brought a bite to his

admit you were right, he is a very nice man" Roy said, "The old saying goes
you can't judge a Bubba by its cover" Bill said with a chuckle. Bubba
passed by the kitchen opening as they talked, he walked Fred out the front
door who bleated away happily. "I hate to think he has to live here alone"
Roy said, "If anyone knows what it's like to be lonely after you lose a
loved one it's me" he added.

"You were lonely because you chose to be, it doesn't sound like Bubba had
much of a choice" Bill said, "So what do you want to do about Bubba?" he
added. "I don't know, what we can do" Roy said, "If Dwight wasn't in my
guest room I'd offer him a place to stay" he added.  "I don't even know if
he would want that but it would be better than being alone" he further
added, "We'll just turn your living room into a bedroom until we move, it's
not like you are ever home much to use it anyway" Bill said. "What will
Ruth say?" Roy asked, "She's waiting on us to bring him home" Bill
replied. "Wait you've had this planned since yesterday haven't you?" Roy
asked, "Yep I just needed you to see it too" Bill replied with a
grin. "Plus if we are to have animals on our farm I can't think of a man
I'd rather have more look after them" he added, "With Fred riding with
Bubba we can use the space in the Jeep to haul his belongings, also have
space in the car and truck if we need it" he further added.

"You know you are just too much sometimes" Roy said with a laugh, "I just
know a good thing when I see it" Bill said as he grinned wildly at Roy and
flexed his eyebrows. "When we get home though I have got to find some
property, that is top priority" he added, "Well we are making all these
decisions and need to see what Bubba wants first" Roy said. Bubba returned
shortly after, "Ok Fred happy now" Bubba said as he walked in the door,
Bill and Roy ushered him into the living room where they all took a seat
with Fred held by Bubba in his lap. "Yous want to talk to Bubba?" Bubba
asked, "Yous not changed mind about Fred riding with Bubba to Georgia have

that despite your loss and loneliness you seem a very happy person, if not
for Bill here and my grandson Charlie I would still be in a dark place" he
further added. " That because momma said don't be sad as she died" Bubba
said, "So Bubba try to stay happy but it hard sometime" he added. "If Bubba
come live with yous will Fred be there?" he further added, "Of course and
Bill is thinking of buying a farm where he will have other animals to look
after" Roy replied. "That's the plan and I would be honored if you would
accept my offer of a job to look after them" Bill said, "The way you are

said and grasped the goat's lead. Bubba followed behind Roy with Charlie on

surprises" he added with a chuckle. "I really did misjudge you, I'm

too" Bubba said with a bright smile. "Bubba helped look after little
Harrison, Allison, and Olivia when Pauline was alive" Bubba said, "Was that
your momma?" Roy asked. "Nos momma's name was Betty, Pauline Sam's wife"
Bubba replied, "Oh I didn't know his wife had passed" Roy said.

said, "I think you are both cute" Charlie said proudly and gave Bubba

dinner to show the boys especially Charlie, so he can see Michelle" Roy

with a chuckle. "Oh that's fine we were kids I don't mind them seeing that"
Cheryl said, "Ok I just wanted to be sure" Roy said. "I'm interested to see
their reaction to be honest" he added with a chuckle, "You are so bad
sometimes Roy" Cheryl said as she joined in the chuckle. "Well let me have
a look at you" Ruth said as she went over to Bubba, "Hi" Bubba said shyly.

"Well fed and well looked after, I approve" Ruth said with a smile, "Yes
momma look after Bubba good" Bubba said. "I can see, welcome to the family"
Ruth said warmly as she hugged Bubba, "Thank yous very much" Bubba
said. "Now would you like to take the boys out outside to play while I fix
dinner? I think they would like that" Ruth asked, "Well honestly mam do
yous think it would be ok if Bubba helped you make dinner?" Bubba
asked. "Well sure but why do you want to do that?" Ruth asked, "Well Bubba
misses being in the kitchen with momma so Is thought it would be nice to
help you" Bubba replied. "You are a sweet boy I can tell, you are welcome
to help me and while you do I want to hear all about your momma" Ruth
said. "Oh and another thing I want you call me grandma" she added with a
smile, "Is never had a grandma before, ok grandma" Bubba said happily.

Over the next hour Bubba helped Ruth to prepare dinner while they chatted
happily, Cheryl and Katherine took the boys out to play to get them out of
their hair, Bill and Roy went to work to set up the projector and screen in
the living room for movie night. Dwight came in as everyone prepared to
eat, with so many people in the house the boys were set up in the living
room to eat while the adults sat at the table. After an enjoyable dinner
the adults got everything cleaned up and joined the boys in the living room
for movie night.
