gaze to the family.

Ruth let out an audible gasp when she first laid eyes on Roxanne, a girl of

said to Diane, "Isn't she? Like an angel" Diane said. "And I can certainly

"Bill and I feel it disrespectful to expect them to call us mom and dad, we
are happy to be granddad and grandma out of respect for their parents" Ruth
said. "Sorry Roxy this is your grandma Ruth" Diane said warmly, "Grandma
Ruth?" Roxanne asked. "Yes I'm your grandma cutie" Ruth replied, "Hello
grandma" Roxanne said as she continued to touch Ruth's cheek. "And this is
your grandad" Ruth said as she turned to face Bill, "Hi granddad" Roxanne
said and Bill began to tickle the little girl which made her laugh and
giggle. "Can we go do the paperwork?" Bill asked, "I want to take them home
soon as possible" he added. "Of course" Diane said and led Bill away, "How
come Roxanne never found a home?" Bill asked as they walked. "I mean I'm
glad she gets to come home with us but it's mind boggling" he added.

"Well that's because we have a strict policy that siblings not be separated
under any circumstances and JJ has been impossible to place" Diane
said. "William mentioned that JJ had some issues, not that it matters to
us, we want them both no matter what" Bill said.  "Almost every interview
with a new family it is inevitable what will happen, they won't understand
something he tries to convey and he will have a meltdown" Diane said, "To
be fair, I can't even begin to imagine how frustrated he feels, his voice
locked away" she added. "Yes it's tragic, I hope one day he will find his
voice again" Bill said, "But if he never does he will at least have a
family to support him" he added as they reached Diane's office. "To be
honest I was beginning to think with JJ's issues they would never find a
home" Diane said, "It's not like you can tell a child with mutism to use
his words when he gets frustrated" she added. "We'll whatever issues he has
he won't be facing them alone, he'll have a large understanding and loving
family behind him" Bill said. "I can see why William spoke so highly of you
Mr. Ravencroft" Diane said, "Have a seat and we'll get this sorted, William
and your attorney have taken care of most of it already" she added.

"Well Mr. Ravencroft you now have two beautiful kids to call your own"
Diane said when the paperwork was completed. "I considered them mine the

jumped up suddenly and retrieved a square white board and a dry erase
marker. He returned next to Ian on the bed and began to write as Bill

flipped the board around, JJ nodded his head excitedly. JJ flipped the
board around again, he erased that and wrote something else before he

with a question mark under it. JJ nodded his head and Bill smiled, "I can't
think of anything I would want you to call me more" Bill said warmly as JJ
smiled. "May I pick you up?" Bill asked softly, JJ looked to Ian who nodded
his head then back to Bill. JJ gave a slight nod of his head to show
approval and Bill picked him up in his arms. "You know it's an important
occasion the first time I hold my son" Bill said emotionally, "It was with
Ian and Hudson, and it is with you JJ" Bill said as the little boy looked
at him intently.

"I told him about Hudson" Ian said, "Yeah you have Hudson waiting to meet
you as well as John, Henry, and Charlie, I know they will all love you son"
Bill said. JJ took his hand and ran it across his mouth as a look of
sadness appeared on his face, "Do you think because you can't talk they
won't like you?" Bill asked and JJ nodded his head. "I can assure you son
the fact you can't speak will not matter to them" Bill said, "Just give
them a chance, ok?" Bill asked and JJ nodded his head before he gave Bill a
hug around the neck. "You are a sweet kid" Bill said as he patted JJ's
back, "We will all love you and you have your big brother who will make
sure you are taken care of too" he added warmly and Ian smiled
brightly. "Yep you let your big brother handle things" Ian said proudly,
"You know it's not just the boys you have to meet, you have a whole family
of people waiting to meet you" Bill said softly to JJ.

"Yeah you just wait till you see that Dwight fella" Ian said with a giggle,
"We just have to make sure we don't push JJ into anything, ok?" Bill asked
as he looked at Ian. "I reckon your right" Ian replied, "I'll ask that you
help me make sure no one puts any undo pressure on him" Bill said. "Like
John?" Ian said with a laugh, "Yes' Bill said with a sigh. "But that goes
for you too Ian, I know you told me how things were before the storm but
that doesn't mean he will still want those same things now" Bill said. "I
know" Ian said softly, "But once we get him home and he sees how the other
boys are, I'm sure he will be jumping in right alongside them" Bill said
with laugh. "Gosh I hope so" Ian said with a smile, "He will, just give him
time" Bill said. Ruth with Roxanne in her arms arrived back with Diane,
"Well I think it's time for us to go" Bill said.

"We have a lot to do" he added, "I'll walk you all out". Bill took hold of
Ian's hand, "We best bring this" Ian said as he grabbed JJ's whiteboard and
pen, "Good thinking" Bill said. They followed behind the women as Diane
lead them back to the lobby and stopped for final goodbyes. "Thank you
Diane for the diaper bag and supplies" Ruth said warmly. "Oh you're
welcome, it should do you until you get home" Diane said, "But like I said
I don't think you will need them for long" she added with a smile. "I also
put in there some stuff for JJ, paper and crayons, he loves to draw and
uses it as one way to communicate" Diane said, "I know he will appreciate
it" Ruth said. "We'll I guess this is goodbye" she further added
emotionally, "If you ever come to Georgia you are welcome to come see them,
just give us a heads up" Bill said. "Thank you" Diane said emotionally,
"Roxy sweetheart I'll miss you, but I know these fine people will give you
a wonderful life" she added as she looked to Roxanne. "Bye Bye Missy"
Roxanne said with a smile as she waved her plush monkey toy around then
blew Diane a kiss with her free hand. Diane acted like she caught the kiss
in mid air and brought it to her lips which made Roxanne smile and giggle.

"JJ sweetheart I know one day you will find your voice" she further
added. "Will you do me a favor, when you do.. if you remember me, will you
give me a call so I can hear it ?" she further added and JJ nodded his head
as he smiled. "We'll see that he does or we might just bring him back for a
visit so you can hear it in person" Bill said to an emotional Diane, "You
know this is never easy" Diane said. "Well you all have a great day" she
added as she turned and left, Bill and Ruth could tell she was crying as
she walked away. They smiled at each other and walked out with their family
to Charles in the parking lot, their driver opened the door for
them. "Charles I would like to introduce you to JJ and Roxanne Ravencroft"
Bill said warmly, "Beautiful family you have Mr. Ravencroft" Charles
said. "You have a family Charles?" Bill asked, "Haven't met the right
person sir" Charles replied.

"You will one day son don't give up" Bill said with a grin, "Thank you
Mr. Ravencroft" Charles said with a tip of his hat. Bill ushered his family
inside and Charles closed the door behind them before getting in the
driver's seat, "Where to now Mr. Ravencroft?" Charles asked. It was then
the loud sound of Ian's stomach growling could be heard and everyone looked
upon him, "Brother hungry" Roxanne said. "I reckon I am" Ian said, "Poor
dear, none of us have eaten" Ruth said. "Then Mam I would safely say I need
to take you for food, I know just the place, they have an excellent
children's menu" Charles said, "Make it so then Charles" Bill said and they
left out. After a bite to eat and a quick stop by the hotel they found
themselves ready to board the plane to fly home. "Thank you Charles for
looking after me and my family" Bill said as he extended his hand to
Charles, "My pleasure sir" Charles said as they shook hands.

On the plane Bill sat next to Ruth who held a sleeping Roxanne and JJ
colored a picture as his big brother watched seated next to him. "Isn't she
precious?" Ruth asked as she looked upon Roxanne warmly, "She really is,
she already has me wrapped around her little finger" Bill said with a
chuckle. "I do hope the girls got everything taken care of" Ruth said, "You
worry too much, I'm sure it will all be handled when we get home" Bill
said. "You know handsome I have been doing a lot of thinking" Ruth said,
"About what?" Bill asked. "When we get back home I want to set up a meeting
with William and Billy, if they are charity it might be where we can offer
to help them" Ruth replied. "That sounds like a wonderful idea" Bill said,
"I would love to be able to bring all the kids home but we both know that
isn't feasible, but it doesn't mean we can't provide them support until
they find their forever home" Ruth said. "You never cease to amaze me
darling after all these years" Bill said, "I don't like the thought of
there not being enough food all the time and the building they use has seen
better days" Ruth said.

"We could really do a lot of good there Bill" she added. "I agree, again I
think it's a wonderful idea" Bill said, "You'll have whatever you need from
me" he added. "When we get home I have a lot to discuss with Cheryl and

will all work out" Bill said, "I'm not concerned" he added. "Did you tell
Dwight to invite his mom over for dinner tonight?" he further added, "I
did, she'll be there" Ruth replied with a smile. "Good, I have things to
discuss with her too, so much to do" Bill said with a sigh, "Rome wasn't
built in a day handsome, you'll get there" Ruth said. "Plus we don't even
know if they will agree to what you propose, you act as if it is a done
deal and it isn't she added.

"I can't possibly see them rejecting what I have to offer" Bill said, "Your
biggest test will be Cheryl, you know you have proposed something similar
to her before and she turned you down flat" Ruth said. "Yeah but a lot has
changed since then, I think she will be more receptive" Bill said, "Just
don't be surprised if she isn't Ruth said. As they talked JJ held up his
picture to show them, "Oh honey that's beautiful" Ruth said, "That's us?"
she asked and JJ nodded his head.
