Morning came in Kansas and everyone woke with a brain full of thoughts and

hung up. After she hung up she looked upon Allison still asleep and smiled,

Katherine knew Cheryl was right, everything up to this point had allowed

need to talk this morning, maybe after breakfast" Bill said as he started
to pour himself some coffee. "Oh sure thing Mr. Ravencroft" Sam said,
"Please call me Bill" Bill said. "I'll go ahead and put the call in to room
service" he added, "Thank you sir, while you do thing I'll go check on
Harrison and Olivia" Sam said.

"I'll come with you and check on Charlie" Roy said, "I best go check on
Allison" Katherine said and all three departed the kitchen. "How are you
Bubba?" Bill asked, "Bubba happy" Bubba replied. "Good to hear it" Bill
said and dialed room service to order breakfast, "How is everyone today?"
Sam asked softly as he and Roy entered the room where the kids were. "Oh
dad! It's been awesome" Harrison said, "So we've heard" Roy said with a
chuckle. "How about you Charlie? You doing good?" Roy asked, "Yep" Charlie
replied with a smile. "A Man of few words" Sam said with chuckle. "And how
about you baby? You doing good?" Sam asked as he picked Olivia up into his
arms, "Oh real good daddy" Olivia said sweetly in her baby voice. "Charlie

long as you're happy baby" Sam said. "Now we need to get you all a bath" he
added, "If you like I can throw them in the tub while you talk to Bill" Roy

Katherine sat upon the bed and smiled upon Allison as she gently woke her

Allison sat up in bed, "Oh..hi mam" Allison said groggily. "Are you doing

you should have asked and let us discuss it first, but I'm not upset, as

bath with me and we'll discuss it there" Katherine replied with a smile and
extended her hand. Allison grasped it and the pair headed for the bathroom
while Sam returned to the kitchen to talk to Bill.

"Bubba will you be ok if I take Sam into the bedroom and talk to him? Bill
asked, "Bubba ok" Bubba said with a smile. "Alright we'll be back shortly,
maybe there is something good on TV" Bill said, "Thanks Bubba, be back
soon" Sam said and patted the heavyset man on the shoulder as he and Bill

as they entered the room and Bill shut the door behind them. "Take a seat"

time, when you said it was the best decision and it could provide for your
family, what was that? Pride ?" Bill asked. "Basically" Sam replied softly,
"To be honest, I started having trouble growing crops on my land, that's
why I leased out the land on Steele farm" he added. "Did you know about the
marijuana?" Bill asked, "Yes I was the one that helped Kevin set his
process up and showed him how to grow it, it was my payment for leasing the
land since I didn't have any money" Sam replied. "But you have to believe
me that's as far as my involvement went, I didn't take part of the selling
or distribution, and I stopped smoking that stuff the moment Pauline became
pregnant with the twins" he added. "I did what I had to do to have some
land to work to provide for my family, they mean everything to me so if it
meant helping that asshole Kevin grow some pot, then so be it" he further
added.

"I'm not going to stand here and condemn you for doing what you had to do
for your family but I wish you would have just been honest Sam, what would
have happened if the cops had somehow linked you" Bill said. "I know, don't
think I didn't think of that" Sam said, "But now that we have that sorted,
let's put that behind us and focus on where we go from here" Bill
said. "Now I just bought a nice piece of property with plenty of farm land,
in exchange for helping me work the land I want to offer you a house and
the promise that your family will be well taken care of and want for
nothing" Bill said. "My family is all there and I want to you to become
part of it, your kids will have plenty of other kids to play with, and when
school starts back they will be given a world class education on site" he
added.

"I don't know what to say" Sam said, "Just say yes son, it's not hard" Bill
said with a smile. Sam stood from the bed and embraced Bill in a hug,
"Thank you" Sam said emotionally as he began to cry, "I honestly..didn't
know..what I would have done" Sam said emotionally. "So is that a yes?"
Bill asked, "Yes..thank you" Sam replied. "Now calm yourself, there is one
other thing that I want to talk about" Bill said as Sam calmed and sat
again upon the bed. "Bubba what is the story between you two?" he added,
"Roy and I were talking last night about how crazy Bubba is about you" he
further added.

"We've known each other since we were seven, Bubba has always been big, he
was way bigger than the other kids, and talked about the same as he does
now so the kids called him Frankenstein" Sam said. "Kids can be so cruel"
Bill said, "Yeah but to me he was just Bubba, they couldn't get past his
appearance to see the gentle soul that was within" Sam said. "I'll never
forget it one day we were out playing in the woods and came across a dead
rabbit, killed by some animal obviously, now a normal person would just

off" he added. "I like to never have got him to put it down, it was only
after I offered to bury it" he further added. "I can see that" Bill said,
"But we were together all the time, my dad took up a lot of time with him
too, he was a mechanic and he taught Bubba how to work on cars" Sam said.

"My dad would say it's obvious thinking will never be his strong suit but
that doesn't mean he can't do something with his life and wanted to teach
him everything he knew" he added. "They would spend hours in the garage
together, course I didn't mind, Bubba never had a dad and I cared nothing
about cars so it was a match made in heaven" he further added. "I"m glad
Bubba had someone like that" Bill said, "Bubba says he fell in love with me
when we were kids, I had no idea" Sam said. "I went off to Woodstock, met
Pauline, we married and started having babies, but Bubba has always been in
my life" he added. "I'm going to honest with you son, you sound conflicted
on how you feel about Bubba, is there something there between you two?"
Bill asked.

"I don't know to be honest, I've always loved him but as a brother, it
wasn't romantically but now I'm wondering..I just don't know" Sam
replied. "You know he confessed to me at the worst possible time, Pauline
hadn't long passed, me and my kids were still grieving, I couldn't think
about anything else" he added. "I know he meant no harm and it hurt to
break his heart, I'm just so mixed up about how I feel" he further
added. "Take it from an old fool son, you can go the rest of your life and
not find anyone that loves you as much as Bubba does" Bill said. "You can't
make yourself love someone but if there is even a little piece of that
wonders if there might could be something more, you owe it to yourself and
him to explore it" he added. "Living on the plantation should give you that
opportunity" he further added.

"Thank you sir, you are like some kind of angel that has come into my life"
Sam said, "I am no angel son, now let's go see if the kids are out of the
bath and maybe get some breakfast in us, I'm starving" Bill said and the
pair left for the kitchen. When they arrived back in the kitchen area
breakfast had arrived and everyone sat about eating. "There you are, we
were all hungry so hope you don't mind we started without you" Roy said a
with a grin, "Not at all" Bill said and began to fix him a plate of
food. As he ate he noticed Katherine and Allison sat next to each other
with bright smiles and giggled incessantly as they talked. "You two are
like a couple of school girls" Bill said with a chuckle, "Just two girls
having fun Bill" Katherine said with a smirk.

"So Allison what have you and Katherine been up to?" Bill asked, "Oh we
just had a nice bath" Allison replied with a giggle. "Real nice" she added
with emphasis, "You don't say" Bill said with a grin. "Ms. Katherine showed
me how to use a shower head to get my tingles" Allison said with a giggle,
"Livvy I have to show you sometime" she added as her eyes got big with
excitement. "What? It feels great, maybe you should try it" Katherine said
with a shrug as some faces turned to her with a look of confusion. As they
talked there was a knock on the hotel room door, "I'll get it" Roy said and
left to answer the door. "That was the limo driver, he said you asked for
these" Roy said to Bill as he returned with bags of clothes in his
hand. "Yes I asked him last night if he would stop and get some clothes for
Sam and his family so they could dress" Bill said. "If it's alright with
you Sam, now that we have clothes for you and the kids, once we finish
eating we can head back to your house and start making plans" he
added. "That sounds good with me sir" Sam said, "I like a plan" Bill said
with a grin. As breakfast came to a close Katherine took Allison and Olivia
to get dressed, Sam took himself and Harrison to dress, and Charlie pulled
Roy aside to talk to him. "What is it Charlie?" Roy asked softly, "Poppa
can I talk to you?" Charlie asked.

"Of course son about anything, what's on your mind?" Roy replied. "Well I
think Olivia likes me" Charlie said, "You're a great kid what's not to
like" Roy said. "No poppa like the kissy stuff" Charlie said, "Oh you
mean..oh so you think Olivia may have a crush on you like a girlfriend?"
Roy asked. "Yep" Charlie replied, "And how do you feel?" Roy asked. "Well

hand. One everyone was dressed they headed down to the limo and arrived a
short time later on Sam's property. When they entered Sam's home they were
surprised to find an average build dark brown haired boy asleep on the sofa
in only his underwear. "It's Adam!" Harrison said and went to his friend,
"Why is he here I wonder and only in his underwear, I don't see any clothes
he took off either" Sam said.

"Allison, Charlie, Olivia, let's go outside and play while they tend to
Adam" Katherine said softly, "Bubba come play with us" Charlie said as he
took hold of the heavyset man's hand. "Oks Bubba come play" Bubba said and
left with Katherine and the three kids outside.  "Should I wake him up?"
Harrison asked, "I think so son so we can figure out why he's here" Sam
replied and Adam began to gently shake his friend awake. Adam slowly opened
his eyelids as his light green eyes shifted their gaze upward. "Harrison!"
Adam exclaimed as he jumped to his feet and hugged his friend tightly,
"Adam what are you doing here? Did you come to go fishing?" Harrison
asked. "And why are you in your underwear? that normally comes later" he
added with a giggle, "She told, Harrison" Adam said as he began to cry
openly still embraced his friend tightly. "Any idea what's going on Sam?"
Bill asked, "I haven't the foggiest" Sam replied. "Harrison let's see if we
can get him calmed down so we can get to the bottom of this" he
added. "Adam here sit" Harrison said as he forcefully broke from their
embrace, he sat Adam down on the sofa and took a seat next to him. "Now
what's wrong?" Harrison asked as he wrapped his arm around Adam to pull
them tightly together and Adam laid his head on Harrison's chest as he
looked around the room with tear filled eyes.

"Adam what's wrong?" Sam asked softly as he knelt in front of the emotional
boy, "What did you mean when you said she told on you? Who's she?" he added
as he placed his hand on Adam's cheek.  "My..sister..told my daddy" Adam
said as he began to cry and sniveled between words, "You mean about
catching us?" Harrison asked and Adam nodded his head against his friend's
chest. "Harrison it sounds like you might know what's going on" Sam said
softly as he shifted his gaze to his son, "Eh..yeah" Harrison said as his
face grimaced. "We were fishing last week and nothing was biting..and
well.. we started doing humpies instead and his sister Stephanie caught us"
he added. "And what happened?" Sam asked, "Well she screamed what the fuck
are you doing" Harrison replied animatedly. "Harrison language" Sam said,
"Well that's what she said" Harrison said.

"Ok then what happened?" Sam asked, "Well then she made him get dressed and
took him home" Harrison replied. "I dunno what happened after that, what
happened Adam?" he added as he gently shook his friend, "She made me do her
chores, said I had to wait on her hand and foot or she'd tell on me" Adam
replied. "I did at first but then I told her no, and she told my
daddy..and..and" he added as he began to cry again. "And what?" Sam asked
softly, "He came in..my room this morning..when I was sleeping...and
screamed at me..to get out..I was so scared" Adam replied as he
sniveled. "He told me..to come here to..live with..the other animals...if I
was going..to squeal like a pig" he added as he continued to cry and
snivel. "And you walked here barefoot in just your underwear?" Sam asked
and Adam nodded his head against Harrison's chest.

"Dad we have to help him" Harrison said, "I'm not sure we can Harrison and
here we are about to move to Georgia" Sam said. "We're not moving!"
Harrison said, "Yes we are son, these people are offering us a place to
live and I have decided this is what is best for our family, so we are
moving to Georgia" Sam said. "No!" Harrison exclaimed, "I'm not leaving
Adam, we'll stay here, I have a tent we'll live in it and fish for food" he
continued as he squeezed his friend tight. "Harrison" Sam said, "Dad no!
I'm not leaving him..I..we're" Harrison said as he stammered. "What is it
Harrison?" Sam asked, "We're boyfriends ok, I love him and he loves me, so
I'm not leaving him!" Harrison replied as Adam's eyes got wide.

"What? Why didn't you tell me?" Sam asked, "Adam told me we couldn't tell
anyone, but now that doesn't matter, we're boyfriends and I'm not leaving
him" Harrison replied. "Sam can we talk outside?" Bill asked, "Sure" Sam
replied. "Alright boys try to get calmed down while I talk to Bill" he
added and walked outside with Bill and Roy. "I certainly didn't expect
this, I don't know what to do" Sam said, "Do you know where the boy lives?
I think we need to go talk to Adam's father and attempt to talk some sense
into him" Bill said. "We can try, I mean Scott his father can be an
asshole, they live not far from here, maybe a twenty minute walk, shorter
if we drove" Sam said. "Alright" Bill said, "Katherine!" he added as he
waved his arms. "What is it Bill?" Katherine asked as she came over, "I
need you to hold down the fort here for me, we have something that we need
to tend to" Bill replied.

"Oh sure, everything alright?" Katherine asked, "I'm afraid not" Bill
replied. "That's a shame, but go take care of it, I have everything under
control here" Katherine said. "Thank you Ms. Katherine" Sam said with a
smile, "Alright let's go" Bill said and he along with Roy and Sam left in
the limo for Adam's house. When they arrived a man came from out of the
house with an irate look about him, "What in the hell is a limo doing here,
do I know you?" the man asked as Bill stepped from the vehicle followed by
Roy and Sam. "I'm guessing you're Scott?" Bill asked, "Yes I'm Scott, again
who are you and why are you here?" Scott replied. "My name is Bill
Ravencroft, my friend Roy Maxwell, and I think you know Sam there" Bill
replied, "Oh yeah I know him alright, that queer son of his went and turned
my boy queer" Scott said. "How do you know he's queer? It could just be
boys being boys, didn't you play around with your friends when you were a
kid?" Bill asked.

"Hell no I didn't" Scott replied, "Scott you can't just throw your son out
like that, he's nine years old for Christ sake" Sam said. "He should have

"That's a pretty clear sign that Adam has done turned queer and ain't no

do we do?" Roy asked, "Sam, Roy here recently had to take custody of his
grandson due to his living situation, would you be willing to take custody
of Adam?" Bill asked. "Well of course, but how can I take care of another
child? I can barely take care of my own" Sam replied.

"I've already told you Sam, I am going to take care of you and your family,
and it sounds like Adam needs to join us too" Bill said, "Are you sure you
aren't an angel Bill?" Sam asked with a smile. "Angel?!" Roy asked shocked,
"I already told you I am no angel Sam, will you look after Adam?" Bill
asked. "Yes I'd be glad to take on Adam, especially since Harrison isn't
leaving Kansas without him" Sam replied. "That does solve that issue" Bill
said, "Let's see what Mr. asshole says to that" he added as they broke from
their huddle. "Scott throwing your child out like this is child
abandonment, abuse and neglect, we could easily turn you over to the
authorities" Bill said. "But if you are willing to relinquish your parental
rights to Sam, then we won't cause you any trouble, and I can assure you he
will have a better life than living here with a narrow minded asshole like
you" Bill said with a smirk.

"You don't have to threaten me, I'll happily sign my rights over" Scott
said, "Alright let me make a call" Bill said. "Mr. Fremont?" Roy asked,
"Mr. Fremont" Bill replied and knocked on the limo's window where the
driver sat. "Yes sir?" The driver asked after he rolled down the window, "I
need a call do you have a mobile phone?" Bill asked. "Oh yes sir" the
driver said and presented the phone to Bill, "I hope one day they make
these things more portable" Bill said as he began to dial the number of
Mr. Fremont. "George It's Bill" Bill said after Mr. Fremont answered,
"Don't you ever get tired of calling me?" Mr. Fremont asked. "Look I got a
situation" Bill said, "Of course you do" Mr. Fremont said and Bill went on
to explain the entire situation. "Is he out of his damn mind? He can't
throw a child out like that" Mr. Fremont said, "We are in agreement" Bill
said.

"Yes I can help you take care of the legal end of this but it won't be as
easy as it was with Charlie, I don't have the type of pull in the Kansas
courts as I do in Georgia" Mr. Fremont said. "It will have to go before a
judge and he'll have to sign off on it, and I'm almost positive they will
do a check to determine if Mr. Allen is fit before the judge signs off and
if his finances are as bad as you say I don't think any judge would allow
it" he added. "So I guess what I'm saying Bill is it is you will have to
take custody of this child" he further added, "Alright if that's the way it
has to be fine" Bill said. "I'll have to start working on this on Monday,
oh that reminds me Mr. Ash is being released on Monday" Mr. Fremont
said. "I got word late yesterday I was going to call you today anyway, this
saves me the trouble" he added, "That's great news George, thank you" Bill
said.

"You should thank me, all the bullshit I had to through but I must admit it
was fun watching that old blowhard squirm when I threatened to get his ass
disbarred if he didn't reverse his decision" Mr. Fremont said. "That's why
you're the best George" Bill said, "Hey you have fun last night?" he added
and heard the click of the phone as he was hung up on. Bill shook his head
and chuckled, "Thank you" he said as he handed the phone back to the
driver. "Alright Scott, my attorney is going to get to work on this on
Monday, he said it will have to go in front of a judge but shouldn't be any
trouble, but as of now Adam is in our care" Bill said. "Fine, you just let
me know when and where to be to sign the papers" Scott said, "How about his
clothes and personal belongings?" Bill asked. "Well seeing as how I paid
for them and he obviously doesn't appreciate them, he can just damn well do
without" Scott replied, "You say he's in your care now and you obviously
have money so you deal with it" he added and went inside the
house. "Alright let's head back to your place Sam, we need to form a game
plan as things just got a lot more complicated" Bill said as the three got
back into the limo and the driver departed.

"How is old George? He have fun last night?" Roy asked with a chuckle,
"That's what I asked and the old grump hung up on me" Bill said. "So this
has to go before a judge?" Sam asked, "Yes and my attorney tells me that
due to your finances he doubts that a judge would sign off on you assuming
custody so it will have to be me" Bill replied. "It doesn't really matter
who it is, as long as Adam is taken care of" Sam said, "He'll still reside
with you and you'll be the one primarily to look after him, that won't
change" Bill said.  "This really complicates things though as Bobby is
being released on Monday" Bill said, "Now that's some damn good news" Roy
said. "Whose Bobby?" Sam asked, "Let's save that talk for later if you
don't mind" Bill replied. "So what this means is Roy I'm going to have to
ask you to fly back with Katherine, Charlie and if Sam is ok we can go
ahead and fly the girls back too" he added.

"That's fine by me sir" Sam said, "I'll stay with Sam, Bubba, Harrison, and
Adam to handle things here, Roy I'll trust you to help Ruth handle things
at home" Bill said. "You got it boss" Roy said with a laugh, "Smart ass"
Bill said as he joined in the laugh. "Sam maybe you can take this time to
explore your feelings with Bubba, I'll look after the boys to give you two
the chance to do so" he added. "Well I appreciate that sir, I `m still not
sure how I feel" Sam said, "I hope you give Bubba a chance, that man loves
you something fierce, I don't even think Bill loves me that much" Roy said
with a chuckle. "I'm just teasing snookums" he added with a grin as he
pinched Bill's cheek when he saw the glare he got, "I know Bubba loves me a
lot so I'll take Bill's advice and use this opportunity to explore how I
feel" Sam said.

"Sam I noticed you had a few livestock left, if you wanted to bring those
with you, you're welcome to" Bill said. "Oh that's great, I was wondering
what to do with them when we moved, it's just a few goats and a breeding
pair of donkeys, most of the animals were processed for food back before
winter" Sam said. "Only other animal is Daisy our yellow lab, that's
Harrison's dog, follows him everywhere" he added, "Well she'll have to come
too, I'm sure the kids back home would love to have a dog to play with"
Bill said with a smile.  "My son Ian is turning nine next Saturday and he's
been wanting a dog, so for his birthday I'm going to take him to pick one
out as a surprise" he added. "That's great" Sam said as the limo pulled
back on to Sam's property, "Poppa let's go see the goats!" Charlie
exclaimed as he ran naked up to Roy and was picked up into his poppa's
arms. "Katherine let you get naked?" Roy asked with a grin as they walked
towards the enclosure that held three goats, "Yep" Charlie replied with a
giggle. "Mommy Katherine says that these are girls" he added as they stood
in front of the enclosure, "From what I can see they are" Roy said with a
chuckle. "Are they going to come live with us poppa?" Charlie asked, "Yes
they are" Roy replied.

"Great! because now Fred can have a girlfriend..like me" Charlie said as
his face blushed, "Oh when did you get a girlfriend?" Roy asked as he
looked into his grandson's face. "Well after you left Olivia and I did
kissy stuff" Charlie said, "They did way more than kissy stuff!" Katherine
called out. "Hey..." Charlie whined and when Roy turned him to look at
Katherine, "I'm just teasing sweet boy" Katherine said as she came over and
ruffled Charlie's hair. "So what happened after you did kissy stuff?" Roy
asked with a chuckle, "Well I asked her if she wanted to be my girlfriend
and she said yes" Charlie replied. "Isn't this great poppa?!" he added
excitedly with a bright smile, "I think it's wonderful Charlie" Roy said
and gave his grandson a kiss on the cheek.
