It was about 8:00 Sunday morning and they decided that they would go for a bike ride around town after breakfast. They went down to the kitchen and had some cereal. "So, how long are we gonna be out for?" Brian asked. "I dunno, we'll be spending time together, that's all that matters," Steve said and smiled. "Yeah," Brian said happily. They finished their breakfast and got dressed in some loose clothes. They went to the garage and got on their bikes. They started by riding around the park and then went around the old church when Steve stopped to talk to Brian about something. "Brian, after last night I started thinking about us a lot and I thought I should give this to you," Steve said as he pulled out his favorite cold chain necklace and handed it to Brian. "Oh my god, Steve, you love this necklace, I couldn't take it," Brian said struggling not to cry. "I want you to, look at the clasp," Steve said motioning to the necklace. Brian looked at the clasp and gasped, upon it were the engraved words, "I Love You." "How?" Brian started. "I did it when you fell asleep, I found my dad's engraving tool and did it myself," Steve replied. "Oh my god, Steven, I love it, thank you so much. I'm sorry, I don't have anything to give to you yet," Brian said as he choked upon tears. "That's fine, I don't want anything but you," Steve said and he hugged Brian. "God I love you," Brian said. "You too," Steve replied. They kissed and got back on their bikes and began the ride home. They were about a mile from their destination when Steven tried to do a trick on his bike he ended up landing right in the middle of the street. Before he could do anything a huge log truck ran right over him. All Brian could hear was the scream and the crunch. Brian looked back and saw the most horrible sight of his life, Steven lying on the ground next to his bike bloody and broken. Brian ran to Steven and screamed for help. He looked into the eyes of his love and they were filled with tears. "Steve, oh god, hold on, the truck driver is coming," Brian said trying not to panic. "...Cant...breath," Steven gasped. "Shit, Oh god, I am so sorry, I'm going to go call 911," the driver said after he finally arrived. The driver ran off to the nearest house and called 911. "Just hold on baby, it'll be alright," Brian said trying to comfort Steve. "...Getting dark...so tired..." Steve said in short wheezes. "Just hold on!" Brian screamed through tears. "...I love you...always...remember...th..at...goodbye..." Steven managed as his eyes closed and his chest stopped heaving. "No! You can't die! Please don't leave me," Brian sobbed. Brian began to try and give Steven mouth to mouth, but it was no good, Steve was gone. "I love you, Steven," was all he could manage through his mournful sobs. Brian sat there and held Steven's lifeless body until the ambulance arrived, they announced him dead on the spot. They began to load Steve's body into the ambulance when Brian asked if he could go with. They said only family was allowed and Brian began to sob. They finally agreed and Brian held Steve's cold hand all the way to the hospital morg. Then his parents were called, they arrived ver shortly after and could not stop sobbing. Brian stood by his lover's corpse for over an hour just staring into his lifeless eyes. A steady stream of tears flowed from Brian's eyes until his parents came to take him home. Mr. And Mrs. Yanez tried to comfort their son as much as possible, but Brian just stayed locked in his room staring at the gold chain Steve gave to him. "I never even gave him anything back," Brian said quietly to himself. "Why Steven? Why did you have to go?" He asked. He stayed in his room for two straight days without eating, just lying on his bed and holding the necklace close to him , it was all he had left. His mother knocked on the door and told him as gently as possible that Steve's funeral was set for the day after the next. Brian just said thank you and went back to holding the chain. It was over, he had loved so briefly and now it was over. TBC... Hi Everybody. I know this was a shocker and a really short series, but it isn't quite over yet there will be one or two more chapters.
