While places and locations are or were real, all names of persons are strictly a figment of the author's imagination. Chance Meeting in a Bar Hi, I'm Bob. I am 29, 5'6" (1.67 metres), 135 lbs. (61.2 kg), single and VERY active sexually. As usual, on the weekend, I leave my parents home in Dorval to spend a couple of days & nights cruising Montréal. I normally hit the gay bar BUD'S to grab a beer and either suck or be sucked in the backroom. I had just been there around 30 minutes when in walks a really cute sexy guy about my age and height and slightly slimmer than myself wearing a beige jump suit that showed an exceptional package. I didn't even have a second to react, when he came up to the bar and sat down right beside me. I could see him eying me from the corner of his eye and so I introduced myself to him and he replied with a heavy French accent, that his name was Claude. Luckily he was able to speak English (my French being non-existent) and we got to know each other a little. I invited him up to my room at the YMCA and we spent the night together. We agreed to meet again a BUD'S in two weeks time, but having often made arrangements to meet other guys and either they or I never showing up, I was sure that I would never see him again. Two weeks later, much to my surprise, in walks Claude who looks around and spies me at the bar and immediately comes over to sit at my side. We spent the entire evening just talking and getting to know each other. This time however, it was he who invited me to his room in the northern part of the city and I stayed at his place from Friday night until Sunday when I had to leave my room at the YMCA. Saturday night, when Claude thought that I was asleep, I heard him whisper, "Je t'aime, I love you". I didn't say anything because I still wanted to be a free spirit and have all the sex I could want with everyone I could. As the saying goes, So many men, so little time. Six months later, we took an apartment together and remained a number of years in Montréal until his employment required him to move to his home in Québec City. Obviously, there were the occasional squabbles as both of us were the only children in our respective families plus the fact that often we could not understand each other due to language. In spite of this, a strong attachment formed between us and I found myself moving to Québec City to be with him. I finally had to admit it; I was in love with him. Neither of us wanted to visit Europe and so we travelled to places in North America -- the Maritime Provinces in the east and Vancouver in the west. Going south, we stayed a couple of weeks in Los Angeles and visited Santa Catalina, San Diego, and Capistrano. We also stayed for 3 weeks at the HIDEAWAY (no longer in existence) a gay resort in Rancho Mirage. As all good tourists, we visited Las Vegas & Phoenix (more precisely, Tempe). Every couple of years, Claude had to relocate either to Montréal or back to Québec City and I, Bob, being my own boss, was able to move back and forth with him. He taught me French and he improved his English making each of us bilingual -- so much so, that often we don't know if we are speaking the language of Shakespeare, or that of Molière. We eventually bought our own home in the suburbs of Québec City. We finally decided that we had enough confidence in each other so that five years ago, we got married to celebrate fifty years together.
