CHAPTER ELEVEN James I was such an asshole for having lost my cool at Daniel's boss. It must've been the wine talking, but I hated the way that idiot treated him. As I get back from the tour, I order a large bottle of water to help me stop any chance of a splitting hangover tomorrow. At 7:30 pm, I enjoy a steak with an assortment of roasted vegetables, in my room, and then lie down on my bed to watch a comedy. Trying to take my mind off Daniel. I'll let him cool off for a day or two and then send him a message to see if he's ok, and invite him out. He deserves to be spoilt on his day off, even if it just for me to apologize. *** The following day, I head out after breakfast and take a long walk on the beach in Camps Bay, before I catch a cab to explore Die Kasteel in the city itself. It's a fortress built by the Dutch when they first colonized the Cape, in the seventeenth century. But I can't wait to message Daniel and see if he's in fact alright. The threat his boss levelled at him is bothering me. He sounded sincere and looked the type to see it through. When I arrive back at my hotel, I can't stand it any longer and send him a message. He doesn't respond, but I can see that he hasn't been online yet. I hope he isn't still mad at me, or worse, lying in a ditch somewhere. I'm not sure what a threat means around here but if this was Italy or Russia, I'd be seriously concerned. They don't threaten anyone lightly. But, thank God, he replies eventually and we arrange for me to fetch him tomorrow at eleven. I'm ecstatic and my heart flutters at the thought of seeing him again. I picture him in those swim briefs of his, where I could see his circumcised cock clearly contoured as he filled it snugly. Mm. He looked delectable. I'm instantly hard from that image in my mind and so I take my cock out and give myself good and fast jerk-off before jumping in the shower and getting into bed. I don't care if I have to say goodbye in a few weeks. Let me enjoy him while we're together. I'll deal with the inevitable heartache later on. "You can't spend your life avoiding joy just because you are afraid of pain, James." I say out loud before I turn to my side and fall asleep. Dreaming of the young wine-maker. *** Just after 6:00 am, I wake up and faff and moan the whole morning away, until the cab arrives to take me to him. Like a grumpy old faggot. My mom would call me on it, if she was here. The concierge warns me that the trip will be pricey, as it's about twenty-five miles from here to the estate, but I tell him it's fine. It's worth every dime, only to get to see him again. I get into the cab and we head off. We arrive earlier than I'd planned, at the main gate and I message Daniel that we've arrived. He replies almost immediately and informs me that he's already on his way down and should join us in ten minutes. The security guard, stationed in the little guardhouse, watches us through the window and I decide to get out and stretch my legs, just so he doesn't think we're some pranksters looking for an opportunity to cause mischief. I get back into the cab, hoping it worked. Notwithstanding, almost to the exact estimation, Daniel comes walking through the gates and heads towards us. He's dressed in fitting, black pair of jeans, a red long-sleeved T-shirt, and black boots. His hair is `neatly' done into the spikey look he likes so much. It does suits him. We sort of match with my red wife-beater and lose-fitting black jeans but I have black sneakers on. Come to think of it, he looks classier than I do. Doesn't matter. Daniel beams as he comes towards the cab and I lean over and open the door for him. He jumps in. "Hi there, James. Had a good night?" I ignore him and kiss him quickly but deeply. "Morning sunshine! You look happy." "To see you." He blushes slightly. "Then I'm happy." I grin sweetly at him. "So, where are we going?" His one eyebrow arcs. Fuck, he's cute. "You suggest where." I do a resignation gesture with my hands. "We can go to Cape Gate. It's a mall, a few kilometres from here. I think you say miles in the US." I nod. He continues, "Then we can have lunch and maybe catch a movie. There's a new Guardians of the Galaxy movie I want to see. Or, if you prefer, I can show you the area around here?" "I like your first idea. Sitting in the cab the entire day, isn't my idea of a good time." And I tell the cab driver to take us to this Cape Gate. We drive off but, as we leave, I notice another car drive out and follow us at a distance. I can't see the driver from here. Maybe it's simply a coincidence. This is a rural road passing a farm, so he or she is probably also heading towards the main road. I turn to Daniel and don't give it much further thought. *** We arrive at the `huge' mall, though honestly speaking some of the ones we have back home are larger. The cab drops us off at entrance one. Daniel and I make our way into the mall and, as we enter the main doors, I take his hand. He glances at me quickly and smirks. "Scared I'll run away?" "Not at all. Just don't want any delusional suitors thinking you're not spoken for. At least for today." I study his reaction to my blatant come-on. "Suits me fine." He chuckles. This guy's just so natural, it's endearing. If I haven't already, I could easily fall for a guy like him. Hard. We walk around the mall and up the escalators to the upper level. Close to the cinemas, I see they have two American diners. "Imagine finding this all the way down here in Africa." I say amusingly. "See. We're not so backwater." He tugs at my arm and pulls me towards a steakhouse. "This is very South African, although I'm sure you'll spot the American Indian theme." The server at the door welcomes us and asks if we want a table for two. "Yeah." I reply and she realizes that I'm a foreigner, by my accent. Her face beams, probably knowing she'll get a huge tip if she behaves herself. She leads us to our table and she puts two large double-sided menus in front of us, introduces herself and asks us if we want something to drink. "Wait. We're in no hurry. Let's settle in for a few minutes and then come and ask us again." I instruct her. Can't a person first relax before lunch? "Ok sir." She toddles off. "They're very impatient here, for a restaurant." I slip a comment to Daniel. "It's only because they're usually very busy and we're a little early for lunch. They could get a queue at around lunchtime and they simply don't want to be left without as many tables as they possibly can have available." He explains. "Makes sense, but I'm not in a hurry. Are you?" And I caress his hand with my thumb. "No, not at all." He smiles at me from across the table. Let me get this over with. "I'm really sorry I punched your boss, Daniel. I should have let you deal with it but you know he assaulted me first?" "I know and was only stressed about losing my job and having behaved so childish. I shouldn't have taken you into that office in the first place." "I'm not sorry about that." He continues, "He's been on my case since I first arrived last year. I personally think he's jealous of my upbringing. My parents own a farm in the Kwazulu-Natal midlands and they're the reason I'm here to study. My dad and I want to convert our, mostly live-stock farm, into a wine estate. It will be hard ... but I'm convinced it will work. Johan is only an employee with no family or any assets, that I know of." "Ï thought the Cape was the wine region of your country. Why there?" I take a look at what's on the menu but carry on listening. "Climate change has resulted in this area being less suitable for wine farming and yet, at the same time, it has caused the area back home to become more appropriate." "Makes sense. So, what has that boss of yours done to you since our altercation? I was worried because he threatened you before he ran out." His face darkens somewhat and now I'm really concerned. "He phoned my dad to tell them I kissed you. My mom called me and made it clear, in no uncertain terms, that if I'm gay they'll cut me off." "Christ! Just like that." I take his hands into mine. "Yes. I told them not to worry. It's not that I'm ashamed of who I am but just ..." "I fully understand. You need to be pragmatic. Your future's very important." I squeeze his hands and let them go. "But that's for another time and place. For today, we enjoy ourselves. Right?" His eyes light up and his smile returns. "Right!" We spend the rest of the day together and after lunch, which, I might add, was delicious but not really American, the portions were way too small for a typical Texan steakhouse, we go and watch this film he wants to see. I end up enjoying it and make a note to see the previous one, as soon as I have the time. When the movie ends, we remain seated until the lights come on, kissing passionately. Haring a cough behind us, we both stop. "Excuse me sirs. We need to clean for the next show. Can you please leave?" "Yeah. Yes" We both say in unison and get up. Leaving the cinema, we laugh like a bunch of naughty teenagers. An overwhelming desire grips me to take him back to my hotel tonight and enjoy that body of his. Mm, maybe not such a good idea, yet. I want to really get to know him first and the danger of this becoming too serious, too quickly, is still a risk. Regardless, I still have two weeks left of my vacation and will invite him out again later this week. I want our first time to be as romantic as I can possibly make it. There are gorgeous guest-houses on some other wine estates nearby and I'll just book in there for a night or two to spend some quality time with him. Who knows, I may even relocate there for the remainder of my vacation. After strolling around the mall some more, looking at the various shops and boutiques, I turn to him. "Daniel. I've spent a lovely day with you and you're really something special. I'll be honest, I'm attracted to you. You have no idea. But ... I think we should not rush into anything. I'll call you tomorrow and we can make plans for our next date." "I'll only be off again in a week." He's eyes darken a bit from disappointment. "I'm actually thinking of moving to one of the estates closest to you. Then you can come over to me when your shift ends, every day." He beams, "That'll be perfect!" Eagerness all over his face. No pressure, as far as my sexual prowess are concerned. "Let me call the cab to come collect us. I'm sure he's been hanging around here all day, since I tip him well. Then he can drop you off and I can head back to my hotel. Not a good idea to be on the roads after dark, if I can help it. Especially, since I don't know Cape Town so well and have to consider my personal safety. The American embassy often warns us of this when we travel to Africa." "I completely understand. You can't stay at my place either. Imagine what a shit-storm that'd cause." "Agreed." We take the cab back to his place and just before he steps out, I lean in and we kiss passionately for a good few minutes before he pushes me away. "I'm not doing it in a car with the driver watching and if you carry on I'm going to lose my inhibitions and seduce you right here." I wipe my mouth off. "Gotcha." He gets out and crosses the road before entering the gate. Just as he passes the large ornate gates, he turns back to me and waves. Returning his wave, I tell the cab driver to go. My hard-on is aching for release. It's been an awesome day.
