Date: Sat, 25 Feb 2023 06:13:41 +1100 From: max dowling Subject: Kasey with a k / chapter 55 Adam 55 Maxieplus We stopped to get the kids McDonald's this time and we had a good talk on the way. He promised he wouldn't continue to be a pain in the ass and I promised him our sex life will return to normal tonight. No computer was seen when we got there, but he did have his phone back. I didn't light the fire because it wasn't cold and I doubt whether it will be lit again the place was quite warm. Sam ran around making sure everything was still there and I spotted something new in the bushes, the kids had built a makeshift playhouse. Sam played in it for ages, then his poppa had to walk him around the tracks so he could say hello to all the animals. I fixed yet another casserole and placed it in my pressure cooker. The boy's burgers were in the oven keeping warm, they will be here soon I can hear Sam's yells. They greeted me and I dealt out the burgers, they all went to their hut and ate them, then they played pirates. Kasey was bored but he needed to rest his eyes, he apologized for being such a dick and I let him out of jail by saying he must have been really worried, and that made him act strange, and he agreed. We only have tonight to get through then Billy and mum will be up tomorrow sometime which will give Sam something to do because the boys next door will be at school. Kasey sat looking out the window, I could see his brain ticking over. He grabbed his phone and made some notes while I went to check the salon was ok and no critters had gotten into it. I swept the floors and checked the toilet out everything was good to go. A car pulled in and a woman got out, she had a small girl with her. "Hi, are you Adam?" "Yes, that's me." "My name is Jill and this is Hayley, please I need your help?" "What can I do for you?" "She desperately needs a cut and won't let me touch it, so I thought you may help me. It needs to be shorter and cleaned up a bit." "Leave it to me." I took the little girl who was all eyes and no more than two or three then sat her on the chair, luckily I had bought some bumper seats. I talked away at her and we made faces in the mirror, as I distracted her I put her hair up into a ponytail and sprayed some hairspray on her hands so she could smell the nice perfume, then with six swift cuts off came her hair, she didn't flinch and she even giggled when I pulled a face and said. "Whoopsie" "My god she would be screaming by now if I had attempted that." "The secret is to distract them, and she doesn't know me as well as you, so I guess my job is done. I took the band off and her hair fell in layers and was now shoulder length. Marko would be so proud of me. I checked it was all even and put some more spray on her hand. Mum was so happy and wanted a cut herself but not today, when she finds time she will pop in. "How much do I owe you Adam?" "A smile will do today, next time twenty bucks. Twenty-five if you want a wash and dry." I smiled. "Thank you so much, I have to fly but I will be back." She left and I locked up before another desperate mother arrived. The stew was finished and I will thicken it and make the mash later on. The boys now had their programs on and were catching up with more gossip. I handed them a chocolate each then sat with my husband who was still talking nonsense into his phone. Well, it all sounded like nonsense to me but I'm sure it was highly technical. He looked at me and smiled, I placed my foot in its cradle and started my foreplay. "Okay boys say your good nights, it's bath time," George said as the boys whined. They left, and I dished up some dinner, there will be plenty left for tomorrow's lunch. Sam was disappointed and he sat at the table with us to eat. He was complaining he would get scared sleeping in his room on his own so I looked at Kasey and he nodded. "No baby, we are camping out tonight I want to watch the pretty lights." His grin got bigger and he started eating faster so he could organize the sleeping bags, that's his job. We didn't mind at all, he drops off early anyway, so we can fool around to our heart's content. "Quick Sam look." Kasey pointed to the bushes. "Where poppa?" "Over there a rabbit he's probably looking for a bed for the night." He screamed when the bundle of fur moved and then ran towards a clump of trees. It was a magical place for our boy he talked about the rabbit to Billy for ages after it happened, and I was pleased Kasey could see it from where he stood, it was a fair way away from the windows. Late that night I went horse riding, I kissed Kasey's face while he made love to me several ways and one was me on top, he liked that too. Our son slept on undisturbed and Kasey muffled his cries with my mouth. The morning sun streamed through the windows so I got up and dulled them a bit just to take the glare off them, Kasey wanted me to go back to bed I wanted coffee. Sam wasn't awake yet but he won't be far away. I will light the fire this afternoon so mum has some warmth upstairs, or maybe she would like to sleep in the bunk bed. Kasey got up as I made the coffee, he had the biggest boner but it was because he wanted the toilet. I also have to talk to him about finances today, all this would have cost him something, not everything is on the military. He hasn't said anything, and with everything else that's going on, I forgot to ask him. He came back and kissed me, then Sam stirred and he pounced on him. He squealed and I started telling him to be more careful, so Kase with his tail between his legs came back and sat with me, Sam ran to the toilet. "How much do I owe you for this?" "It was free Adam, no charge." "But you must have paid out something, not everything is free." "Yes, all I paid for was hamburgers, pizzas and beers, the military paid for the rest." "Then I owe you some money." "It's peanuts Adam but you can go me halves in a small hut for the kids to play in." "It needs to be old Kasey they won't be comfortable in a new build." "Let me think about it then." "Maybe get Wilson to check out the one they have already put together and maybe leave a hammer and nails and more wood nearby so they can extend it." He did look me straight in the eyes and nodded his understanding, little boys like rough, homemade stuff. "Can you see me Kase?" "Yes Adam, a little misty but I can see you and your eyes." "Good, it looks like you are healing rapidly. All the redness seems to be going, but we will still use the drops." "Yes, we will." He grinned. "So you and Trish are opening next week?" "Yes Sunday and Monday, the first weekend of the month." "Adam, I want to talk to you about something. The men will be back Monday to finish the garage off, do you need any more room?" "I don't think so Kase, maybe you can get them to put a sliding door in between the two rooms and if I need more space I can place another chair out in it, and take the car out." "Ok, I will talk to Wilson." Sam came back and he wanted a drink so I made him one then I put the toast on, he sat quietly by the window looking out, I think he is trying to find that rabbit he saw last night. I did think about buying him a few as pets, but it's not practical up here we would have to rely on the neighbors to feed them when we are away. Kasey had the doorbell on the cabin wired up to that tv so whenever anyone pushed it a picture of them flashes on the screen. Sam screamed so loud I thought he had hurt himself, but when I looked at the tv mum and Billy were standing at the door. "Can you answer it, baby?" Too late he was halfway up the stairs before I reacted. I heard a lot of wows, and I went up to see if mum needed a hand. She didn't have a lot because like us she had left a lot of Bill's clothes here and some for her and dad. I hugged my brother, then mum, and put her bag in her room. "You have a choice, this room or downstairs in a bunk bed." I smiled. "Here will do son, I'm a bit old for camping." She walked out to the balcony and looked around, then said. "It looks good son, but I'm guessing by Bill's description there more to see." "Come with me mum." I didn't light the fire again it was still quite warm inside the house. Bill and Sam were well ahead of us and both noses were pressed up against the windows. "Why so early mum?" "You know who has things to do urgently, so I obliged him." "Is dad coming?" "He will be here after work." She smiled. "Good." Kasey got us a coffee and the boys were jumping up and down wanting to go exploring. I gave them some rules and unlocked the door for them, they shot off ignoring my suggestion that they don't run. We watched from the warmth as they played in the makeshift cubby house, then it was the animal's turn, and Sam was the guide. "This is beautiful Kasey you did a good job," Mum said. "Adams idea mum, Wilson put it together very nicely." He smiled, I know he was very proud of the home. She popped her head into Sam's bedroom then she closed the door. I don't think those beds are for her and dad, I fussed with her hair and told her I will fix it later in my new salon. "Yes I poked my face in the window, it looks small will you cope?" "Yes mum, we don't need a lot of room, the salon in the city is big because the building is large we can work anywhere as you well know." "Where are your waiting clients going to sit Adam, we forgot them?" Kase asked. "I thought I might place some picnic tables out the front, George has plenty of that stuff hanging around we can borrow." His mind was onto it, I know the garage will be extended and probably a verandah will appear up the side in case it rains. "Have you eaten?" "Yes son, we had an egg and bacon burger on the way, so we are fed." She grinned. I started our breakfast and Kasey was looking out the window for the kids. "Come for a walk mum, I have something to show you." She followed Kasey out and he took her to see the barbeque area. I think he was going to look for the kids, I couldn't hear anything from inside, better to be safe than sorry. I spied them running towards mum and Kasey as they came up to the house. Billy was over-excited and was naming all the animals he had seen, Sam helped him and mum listened. I placed the food on the table and Kasey started eating, mum made Sam and Billy a small egg and bacon burger while they climbed into the sleeping bag to watch some tv. "It is amazing Steven, I could live here permanently." "You could mum, the house across the road is up for sale." "No this place Steven, I could live just here." She smiled, well she's not going to get my house anytime soon. "You can live here mum, but be aware we will be here every weekend." I am sure Kasey will come here a lot its the perfect place for him to do his work. The boys were ready to go again, and I cleaned up I thought I would take mum for a walk around the gulley, and as the kids ran off I sang out. "Meet us at the swings in ten minutes boys." Kasey tagged along and he was still trying to focus, it won't take him long he's a very lucky man. We spent an hour in the forest and the kids had a swing and then ran off to do something in the play hut, they were going to build a verandah out of two planks of timber. We watched them toil away and place it in a good spot then I saw them drag some chairs across from the sitting area. While this was happening Kasey started yawning, he had completely relaxed. "I think I will have a nap Adam, I'm feeling a bit tired." "You go baby I will come in soon, what do you want for lunch?" "I don't know I'll leave it up to you." "Leftover casserole, will that do?" "Yes." He walked off and closed the bedroom door behind him. Mum started watching something on tv and I excused myself and went to go horse riding again. Kasey was so horned up it didn't take us long to get off, then we had a nap. Mum was upstairs napping when I appeared, and the kids were also up there, they had dragged their sleeping bag up and mum had lit the fire for them. When I looked they were asleep. I started making some lunch and we will have pizza tonight. Kasey came out and I went and hugged him and thanked him for my lovely romp. I know he's maybe bored but I can't allow him to sit in front of a computer or read a book for at least another week and I was at a loss as to what to do for him, entertainment-wise. "There's still all those offcuts behind the salon they can use for their hut, why don't you bring some around?" "I will look at it later baby, where are the boys?" "Asleep upstairs with mum." "I'm bored." "I know but you can't work yet, it will strain your eyes." "Maybe just something with big print." "Is dad bringing your laptop up?" "No, it's in the car still, I can make the printing bigger and at least read something." "Why didn't you bring it in yesterday?" He looked me up and down and smiled. "Go and get it, but I warn you I will be watching, we can do the drops later on in the day, that way your eyes won't be so watery." It didn't take him long to go get it, and he dragged two young men back with him. I gave them a drink and some biscuits and Kasey finished off the packet. It seems like we are back to normal again. He also had some paperwork he was working on but to his credit, he photographed each page and then fed it into the laptop. I watched as he made the print bigger, and with the light behind him, he said he could see very clearly. Mum arrived and kissed everyone she asked me if Kasey was allowed to do that and I rolled my eyes. He was happy now he had something to do and so was I as I trimmed mums hair and dried it into a better shape. The kids had to have some spray and we all grazed on the casserole as we got hungry, I know one man that was saving it all up for tonight's dinner. "Daddy!" Billy screamed, these kids don't yell they scream. Sure enough, dads face was at the door so they went to let him in. No big trucks this time just dad being dropped off, he and mum will go home together. I hugged him and he had a boy in both arms wanting to be tour guides, he put them down and looked around I think he approves. Mum gave him a bowl of stew and coffee and Kasey eyed it, he gave in and had another small bowl. "What are you working on Lieutenant, or should I say, why are you working?" "I got bored, it's ok I got this. And I am working on paragraph number thirty-two." "The border laws?" "Yes, it's going to take me months I think." "Well, it is a mess." "It sure is, we have to start again and weed out all the petty crap governments have added throughout the years. When you look at the overall subject it isn't that hard, it's the wording that will take some time." "Ok but don't strain your eyes son, youre too valuable to us to be hobbled." "Thank you general and thank you for this lovely getaway also." "My pleasure, when I brought it up at the meeting there was no contest, the plain fact is the Australian government owes you." I looked at dad and smiled. Billy then dragged him outside to look at the wonders of their forest. I could hear more screams and looked at my watch. The kids from next door have arrived. I didn't have any treats for them today but I do have a packet of chocolate biscuits hidden away somewhere. I went up the stairs to find them, no, not here. Big arms went around me and Kasey said in my ear. "I ate them." "Oh, now what do I do they will expect a treat." He kissed my neck and whispered. "Mum has plenty, I saw her put it in the cupboard after she arrived." "Well done, I'm surprised it lasted this long." He spun me around and kissed me, then he looked me in the eyes and said. "I'm having a rest for a bit, want to show me your salon?" He doesn't want to see it, he's rubbing me up and down, and he wants sex, again. I looked around the small room and decided that we will ask Wilson's men to extend it another six feet. It may get cramped in here, there was only Kasey and me in here and it felt crowded. He had taken me on the floor which was nice but his legs kept banging on the wall to the potential garage, yes it needs to be bigger, maybe we will get a carport for the car. I showered and changed as mum did a crossword at the table, Kasey went back to his computer and when I came out I could see dad and the kids playing in the hut. Of course, it wasn't big enough for him, but he looked like he was having some fun. I sat with a coffee and looked out and remembered those days when I was a young kid. Dad was always by my side looking out for me, I had forgotten the bond we had back then. Billy was standing there watching dad place a plank on the roof, his grin said it all, and I could almost see the pride in his eyes. A memory, and a jolt to my system. I did the same with my daddy so many years ago and if I was to be honest, I am still a proud son. I wiped my eyes because they had started to leak, Kasey was looking at me and I smiled. "I will get to you later." "Promise?" "Oh yes, I promise." He replied as mum giggled. June and George came looking for their kids and I told them it will be pizza tonight, they accepted the invitation with a proviso they shout this time. I let them do that and they wrote their orders down, then the kids converged on us with dad. Mum got up and dished out a chocolate each and dad raved on about the forest, it was awesome. "We can dress you up as a gnome dad, it could be on the front of your Christmas cards this year." He grunted and Kasey tapped my foot, so I placed it in his lap and shut up. June was telling us she has had a lot of interest in her home and George reinforced that cars were still pulling up. "I did a little girl's haircut yesterday, she wouldn't let her mummy touch it." "We heard, it's all over town Adam, the kids very happy, and she loves you." June smiled. "That was quick I hope no one turned up when Kasey and I were looking in it." Kasey blushed. "We will hear about it by dinnertime if they did." "The local community page on Facebook is running hot with sighting posts, you were even sighted sitting with Rhoda a week or so ago and kissing your boyfriend in the car park yesterday. Who I might mention got the girls gossiping about his good looks." She laughed. "I had better watch that then, I don't want anyone thinking I'm always having coffee in town and forever kissing my husband." Mum giggled again. "They are your neighbors Adam, they don't care what you are or who you are. They have made you and Kasey a part of their community without even meeting you." "I had better put an opening special on then." "No, don't do that, if I know this community you will be loaded up with cakes, scones, and homemade wine. Your prices are reasonable and they will be happy to pay them." I heard from the peanut gallery across the table. "What kind of cakes?" We all stared at him and the fun began. The pizzas arrived and we ate everything in sight, Kasey and dad had a competition, and mum and I laughed so much the boys were all sitting with us. I guess there was nothing too interesting on the tv. June and I cleared the table and George produced a pack of cards. "Snap or old maid?" "Snap, daddy." "Who's playing?" All the boys lifted their arms except Sam, he doesn't know snap, or cards. He looked around at me but dad was too quick, he placed Sam on his lap and started showing him how to play, Billy already knew how, so he was content to sit on mum's knees. Dad wasn't playing and I didn't partake in the loud games. I sat next to Kasey and watched Sams smile, he won a few rounds but still wasn't sure, but dad had this. I don't know if it was all the magical lights in the forest or the smiles on the kid's faces that forced a memory into my head. I remembered the hours I spent on dads knees playing snap with him and mum. It was just a feeling but I felt so warm and loved, and they made such a fuss if I won a hand. Mum was doing the same with Billy and dad with Sam, his giggles had restarted that memory I had lost many years ago. "Adam can I see you outside." Kasey needs a break. He walked me to the barbeque area I could hear muffled laughter and we sat on the sofa after he lit the fire. "Now tell me what is getting you all down, this is the second time today." "Nothing much Kase, just watching Sam with dad bought back a few old memories. Things I had forgotten years ago like playing snap and sitting on his knees, that kind of stuff." "He loves you Adam, he would never in your wildest dreams harm you. He thinks you are a wonderful man and an awesome daddy for Sam." "How do you know all that?" "He told me." "He talked to you about all that sort of stuff?" "Yes Adam, he's always asking how you are going, he knows you are strong, but also very vulnerable. He uses the word sensitive a lot." "Well I maybe had better start treating him a lot better, it's just whenever he's around I feel a bit on the defensive. Like I think he's going to overwork you and I want to stick to our plan." "He knows that, he doesn't want you to change one bit, he wants you to grow even more protective of me and Sam, he knows you will be the voice of reason in a crisis." "You sure do know a lot mister Kasey, how many times have you had these deep and meaningful talks with my father?" "Every time we meet, he asks about you both, and I tell him." "How do I fix it with him, I love him to bits but I don't trust him." "You don't include him and that hurts him Adam. You could try by asking for his advice on Sam's upbringing, from where I stand he did an awesome job with you, and Bill is a beautiful little kid. I bet he is just like you when you were small." "He is baby." I have some more stuff to think about now, I shouldn't shut dad out like I have been doing I should be using his knowledge, and mums. If I ever wanted to know something I always refer to mum, maybe I'm not doing it right, or maybe it's my dad that needs to counsel me from time to time. We sat there for ages, and apart from the gentle kisses I was receiving, all I could hear was giggling coming from the house. "We had better go in baby, the noise has settled down." He turned the fire pit off and we tidied up, then went back inside. Dad was on the floor playing with the kids and mum was back to her crossword, the boys had gone home, no sleepovers tonight. "I guess it's up to us tonight, sorry Kase." I figured we would camp out with the boys. "No chance these little munchkins are camping out with me upstairs." Dad looked at me. "Well make sure they feel warm dad." "I will." "I meant a story and a cuddle before they go to sleep." I smiled at him. "I can do that son." "I know you can." I went to turn our bed down, Kasey was behind me and I started to go out and see if the kids wanted anything. He pushed me onto the bed and straddled me. "They know what they are doing Adam, stay here." So I stayed with him, and I was very happy I did because he had a big surprise ready for me. My day started with the kids sitting at the table talking their heads off, the tv was on, but being ignored. Dad was eating with them and mum fussed around in the kitchen. I said good morning and was passed a coffee. As soon as I sat down Sam started telling me about their sleepover at grandad's house, he had a magnificent night and it was just like old times, he informed me. "Magnificent?" I looked at dad. "Well I am son, they look up to me so I taught them a new word." He chuckled. Mum sat with her coffee she was smiling and Billy moved to her lap just as Kasey came out. He grabbed coffee and sat down at the table, so Sam moved to his lap. I started laughing and moved to dads, he tickled me. The boys wanted a few games of snap and mum cooked breakfast, I helped her, and dad and Kasey played. He still had one eye on I lap top, but I think he is resisting the urge so he could play with his son. After breakfast they spied three little kids in the forest, so off they went on another adventure for the day. Kasey and dad looked behind the salon and found some big pieces of wood, so they carried them through the house to go do some work on the hut. Hammer and nails were borrowed from next door and George joined in on extending it, so everyone could fit inside. When the kids returned they started helping. Sam was hoisted up on the roof to make sure it was stable, he danced away and deemed it safe and sound. Then Billy had to have a turn then the others, we made up some drinks and took them out to the seating area, biscuits and fizzy drinks were on offer with coffee. Kasey was asking June if she had enough work, she was saying she's mostly busy at tax time, and what carries her through the year was doing some bookwork for the home businesses. "You will let me know if it drops off, I can maybe throw some work your way." "Thank you Kasey but when the house sells I will be cashed up again. Then I have to start up a trust fund for the boy's college fees. So I will be busy." "Well let me know when you do that I have been working with trusts for years now." "Interesting, I will consult you then." She smiled. We had a great morning and made sandwiches for lunch while the boys watched tv, some went to sleep and some went home to do schoolwork. Dad and mum went for a nap and Kasey and I took the opportunity to go for a walk. Interestingly enough we found a very secluded spot to have a quick fiddle, it was so liberating being naked in the forest. She couldn't help herself or in her words she missed us, but Trish turned up around three. No Mick this time he was busy with something else. "Do we have room?" "Of course we do just pull up a piece of floor." I chuckled. "Your old bedroom is free or Sam's new one that hasn't been used yet." "I'll take the old one and thank you." "You are welcome." I took her out to the salon so she can hear my thoughts on its size, she thought it was a good idea to utilize the garage, especially for the few days we are open. I told her about the community page and she will look at it later on. As I locked up two ladies in desperate need of a wash and cut drove up. "Are you open yet Adam?" One called from the driver's seat. I looked at Trish and she said. "Why not." "Yes come in." I sang out with a smile on my face. Country people are more relaxed than the city folk and they were so grateful we could attend to them, one said she had a chicken farm and the other was her neighbor, they thought they might take a chance and drive by. Trish and I washed styled and dried their new looks and they were almost signing over their properties to us, they were so grateful. "How much Adam?" "Forty each thank you, ladies." "That cheap?" "Sixty then." I laughed, but I couldn't charge city prices here. We had a good laugh and the chicken lady went out to her car and grabbed four dozen eggs. "Here forty and some eggs." "My god thank you so much, I am running low." "Free range Adam, large." We waved them goodbye and cleaned up the salon. We smiled at each other and Trish said." "I think this is going to be good for both of us." "I think it will be too, why no Mick?" "Hot date Adam, another online meet-up." She winked. "But I thought he was ......" "Straight?" "Well yes." "No Adam, trust me, he's as gay as you are, nothing's happening between us and nothing ever will." "Oh, so the search goes on then." "Yes, poor me nobody loves me." She put on a sad face. "I do, that's enough." So I hugged her. "Let's get out of here before others arrive." We almost ran back into the cabin and I helped Trish take her bags in. We then made coffee and discussed with mum what we were doing for dinner. "Wine and pizza." Trish put her hand up. "We had that last night," I said. "My shout." She yelled. "Good wine and pizza it is," I shouted back, I loved them up here they are so addictive. Kasey and dad agreed with us it was a good choice then they started looking at the menu. The kids next door arrived but they put on sad faces because they couldn't stay the night, they had to go to grandma's place and probably stay with her for the night. They hugged us all and Sam and Billy got a good one, and plans for next weekend were made. We will get onto Wilson sometime tomorrow and talk about the extension and the hut it has to be checked out thoroughly. The tv was going and two kids were watching a cartoon with dad, I squeezed his shoulder when I passed by, my attempt at telling him he is doing a great job. "Daddy someone at the door." I looked at the tv and standing there was a first-class country hunk, plaid shirt hat, jeans all the trimmings, in other words, a three-day growth. I went upstairs and opened the door. "Are you Adam?" "That would be me." "Adam, I'm Joe, I run the dairy just up over the hill, my sister came by before and said it looked like you were open. Please please can you do my hair it's driving me nuts." I almost giggled because it was all hidden by his farmer's hat. His eyes were the greenest I have ever seen, this guy is unaware of how good-looking he is, and desperately needs to be on the cover of a men's health magazine. "I am a bit busy at the moment, but Trish my business partner isn't. Stay there and I will get her, don't worry she's an excellent hairdresser." I went downstairs and grabbed the keys then handed them to Trish. "It's for you." I winked. "Who is it, Adam?" "A dairy farmer, desperate for a haircut, I'm busy being a daddy." She giggled and went upstairs, then I winked at Kasey. I didn't notice any wedding rings on his fingers so I reckon Trish is good to go, and I had better lose this boner before Kasey sees it.
