Date: Sun, 14 Apr 2024 14:30:49 +0000 (UTC) From: CJ Wilson Subject: My long-range forecast - chapter 70 Hello there. My apologies for the delay in submission of this chapter. Several of us decided at the last minute to take a road trip to Ohio to view the total eclipse on April 8. What an experience, and I'm so glad I made the trip with my friends. We got back to St Pete Beach late this week and I'm slowly getting back to my normal routine. Thanks to those of you who checked in on me asking if I'm okay. I am fine and still in awe at the beautiful event I was able to witness last Monday. As they say, a 'once in a lifetime' event for me. Please let me know if you were in the path of totality and how your experience was. I continue to rewrite, add to and write more chapters of this story and I'm seeking any suggestions, constructive criticms or positive feedback you have about the story. Please send information to cjwilson328@aol.com. For those if you who have already reached out to me - my thanks! I'm working your ideas into future storylines. This chapter moves ahead a couple of weeks. UD and Jack have returned to Cincinnati, and Jimmy's big day at the science fair is upon us. Please consider making a donation to Nifty (using link https://donate.nifty.org/). Let's keep this site going so that we all can enjoy the continued submission of stories. It's been a couple of weeks since UD and Jack returned to Ohio. St Pete Beach is now safe for everyone again! They had a wonderful time, and I've checked in with UD daily to make sure he is doing okay. Jack is emailing me every couple of days with updates on UD's mood as well. Before they left the beach, UD came clean with Wally on what all is happening with him and Sally. I felt better that UD told him, and I know that UD is relieved, knowing we are both available to support him in anyway needed. UD was up and waiting for me on his last day in St Pete Beach. I was shocked to see him and Wally at the breakfast bar waiting for me. He got up from the chair and said "this is too damn early, but I had to see you before I leave. Thank you, my son, for everything this trip. Please know I am feeling well, and I need to go back to figure things out with Sally now. We'll be in touch, and I need you both to stay strong for me." Upon saying that, Wally joined us in a three-way hug. I looked UD in his eyes and replied "we're all here for you UD, whenever you need us. You stay strong, and let us know how we can help you out." October has rolled around, and I'm excited to formally have vacation to use! I know that Bailey has been flexible with my needs, but I feel much better asking for time off knowing I'm official! As of now, I have not requested anytime off. My mistake -- as Daniel has requested time off during Thanksgiving and Christmas weeks. It looks like I'm working the evening shifts during the holidays. I'll miss celebrating the holidays in Ohio, but maybe it's time to start my own holiday traditions in Florida. I know that Alex and Wally will be up for anything, and it looks as though Ronny will be working the holidays with me. Just the way it should be for the television terminators -- we can spread holiday cheer to our devoted fans in the bay area. I do want to return to Ohio in November, but it will be a short trip for me. Wally has already told me to just tell him the dates, and he will go with me. My two goals for this trip are to visit my parents' gravesite and drop my big news on Aunt Sally. I'm not sure how she will take the news, but at this point I know I need to share it with her before the end of the year. However she reacts, I know I am surrounded by love with all of my Florida family and I will always have UD in my life moving forward. Laura and I have been corresponding quite a bit. Bailey and Angela have sent her plenty of work, and she is enjoying performing her assignments at the Maumee studio. Bailey keeps encouraging her with comments such as "you're following in your cousin's footsteps. You have a natural talent for broadcasting, and it's going to be my pleasure to mentor you along the way." She's very excited about the work, and I believe she is already planning to attend Maumee College. I worry about Laura the most as UD and Sally have not shared any news with the three girls. Laura will take the news the hardest as she is close to both UD and Sally. Maddie and Josie will both survive. I know they'll cling to Sally, and continue to use UD as an open checkbook. As long as the money does not stop flowing their way, all will be okay in their world. Some things will never change with those two. Life at the condo complex has been very smooth. Wally, Alex and I have been helping Fred and Jimmy on the weekends. Fred closed on his condo, and began making changes to it on closing day. Jimmy is so excited about everything and has been involved with all of the renovations. Wally got him a special construction helmet with the title of "Chief Boss" on it. He looks so damn cute in it, and has been a tremendous help to all of us. Ronny has been on the road with the Buccaneers and has not had the time to help out. I know Alex misses him on the weekends, but we have not lacked in additional help on the condo renovations. Toby has travelled every weekend to our place to help out. He's learning quite a bit about home renovations, and it's apparent that Fred and him are enjoying their time together. Jimmy's happy about Toby helping out, and I've heard Jimmy say "Toby, if you get a job here in St Pete, you can live with daddy and me." Each time he says it, I see grins appear on Fred's and Toby's faces. Toby has kept Wally and me in the loop on his adventures with Fred. He has asked us both advice on how he should proceed, and Fred has also been asking us for advice. It's been so gratifying for me to help them both and I hope they continue to both grow together in their love and adventures ahead of them. I know Toby is concerned about leaving Zeke on the weekends. However, he's quickly realizing that Zeke will be fine. Since Zeke met Jer, they have hit it off very well. Jer visited Zeke the weekend after he and Toby returned to Bradenton Beach. Jer has even been a regular drop in guest at Zeke's restaurant and even spends the night. It turns out that Zeke has a huge admiration for muscular, uncut red heads. Zeke is falling madly in love with Jer, and even though Jer and I have not talked, I can tell the feeling is mutual with him. He's transferring his main job to the company store in Bradenton and is looking for an apartment to rent close to the beach. Toby told me that he thinks Zeke and Jer will end up living together. I asked Toby how he feels about that? Toby just smiled at me and said "if it makes Dad happy, it makes me happy. I believe Jer will be good for Dad in the long-run. They're already acting like a married couple, and it's making me feel less guilty if I do move to St Pete Beach to be with Fred. I knew the night of the football game that dad had the hots for Jer. I asked him once what his ideal man looks like, and the description he gave me fits Jer. The only thing missing on Jer is nipple piercings, but I'm sure dad will convince him to add them to his muscular chest." All of us took the first Saturday in October off from condo renovations to attend Jimmy's science fair. As the judging was going on, parents and guests were asked to sit in the gym bleachers or go outside of the school building. I'm not sure who was the most nervous in the group for Jimmy. Fred, Alex, Toby, Wally and I watched Jimmy as he talked to the judges. It looked as though he was talking continuously to them. Once they had finished with Jimmy, he looked at all of us and gave us a big wave. Fred smiled, jumped up excitedly from his seat and waved back to him. The remainder of us also stood and all gave Jimmy two thumbs up. After all of the students had been interviewed by the judges, all of the projects were on display for parents, guests and the public. I tried to make my way to Jimmy, but I was asked by several students and their parents for my autograph. I spent some time with each child, and asked them questions about their project. It's so much fun for me to see children excited about science and their projects. A number of parents took pictures of me with their children. I worried that Jimmy might think I was ignoring him, but each time I looked over at him he was talking to someone new from the audience. Fred was smiling, talking to other people and displayed his proud parent persona as he always does so well with Jimmy. I finally made my way to Jimmy and gave him a hand shake. I apologized to him for not getting to him sooner and he said "that's okay CJ. Actually, I think it's great that you're talking to so many students. We won't draw a lot of attention for working together this way." I smiled and replied to him "okay big guy. I'm going to learn about other science projects then." He smiled at me, gave me a wink and said "thanks for getting me here, CJ." I caught up with Wally who was engaged in a conversation with Ralphie about his project. Wally remembered who all I worked with and made sure to stop by their projects and ask them questions. When Ralphie saw me, he smiled and said "CJ, you came out today to see us?" I smiled at him and said "I sure did Ralphie. You did such a good job on your project, and I'm so proud of you. Did you enjoy discussing it with the judges?" Ralphie replied "I sure did. They asked me a lot of questions about winter storms, but I was able to answer all of them. I'm glad you're here today. Thanks for everything you have done for me in study hall. I'm looking forward to our next big project together." I found Betsy and Scott who sat their projects up next to each other. Both of them were glad to see me and told me about their time with the judges. All four of the kids I worked with had a very positive experience. Their comments left me with such a special feeling in my heart. I know that after today, I'm going to continue working with kids who need help. I hope Randy will continue to let me work with kids in the study hall at the center. It's been a rewarding experience for me, and I look forward to meeting more children and help them with their studies. I lost track of Alex along the way. I assumed he was making his way around the projects and talking with children. As Wally and I finished up with Betsy and Scott, I saw Alex waiving furiously at me from the door leading to the gym atrium. He motioned for Wally and I to come to him, which we did. Once we entered the atrium, I saw Alex standing next to two tall men. As Wally and I approached, the gentlemen even towered above Wally. I recalled Alex's story of his kindergarten teacher Mr. Star, and thought to myself "could this be him?" Alex excitedly introduced Wally and I to Joe Starsyntorski and his partner Roger. We all exchanged handshakes and Joe said "it's great to meet both of you. Alex has shared so much with me about you two, and it's such a pleasure to meet you both. CJ, I know this may sound corny, but will you join Roger and I in a photo with a celebrity weatherman? It will be a treat for all of the students in Bartow on Monday morning." I accepted, and before I knew it multiple pictures were taken of all of us in different combinations. Alex started the conversation back up after the pictures and said "Joe surprised me by being here today. Ronny and I are supposed to meet up with Joe and Roger next weekend. Joe has been selected as the new school superintendent for St Petersburg schools, and is starting here next January. He and Roger decided to stop by the science fair today and meet teachers, students and the public." Both Wally and I congratulated Joe on his new job and I asked Roger if he is joining Joe in the district? Roger said "yes, I have interviewed for two different positions that are available next year due to teachers going on leave. It's going to be a such a change working in a much larger district versus the Polk County School District, but I'm looking forward to it. I'll be teaching chemistry and physics at central high school." Our conversation with Joe and Roger went on for quite a while. We were interrupted by Jimmy and Toby as I heard "there they are Toby, let's go get them." Wally and Alex cracked up when they heard Jimmy's voice. Alex turned to Joe and Roger and said "you're now going to meet our bundle of joy gentlemen. Be prepared for lots of inquisitive questions from our friend Jimmy." Jimmy made it to Alex first and said "hi everyone, Toby and I have been looking for you. The contest winners are going to be announced in fifteen minutes. I don't want any of you to lose your seats." Jimmy took a breath, and noticed Joe and Roger. He went up to Joe first, stuck his hand out for a handshake and said "hello sir, my name is Jimmy Peterson and I'm in the third grade." He repeated the process with Roger, and they both introduced themselves to Jimmy. Once Jimmy heard the name of Mr. Starsyntorski, he looked at Alex and said "Alex is this Mr. Star, your favorite teacher you told me about?" Alex laughed, ruffled Jimmy's hair, lifted him up in his arms and said "you're right Jimmy, this is Mr. Star. How did you remember that?" Jimmy smiled and said "I'm sorry Mr. Star, I won't be able to pronounce your name right without some practice. I remember Alex saying you told all of your class to call you Mr. Star on the first day and that's how I made the connection." Joe got a big smile on his face and said "well Jimmy, that's so wonderful that you remember Alex's story. He is my most favorite student I have ever taught." Alex looked at Jimmy in the face and said "guess what?" Jimmy said "I can't handle too many guesses today Alex so just tell me." Alex smiled at him and said Mr. Star is going to be the new superintendent for the St Petersburg school district in January. Do you know what a superintendent does?" Jimmy smiled and said "yeah, that's the person who is in charge for all of the schools, principals, teachers and students in the school system." Jimmy stuck his hand out again to Mr. Star and said "congratulations Mr. Star. I'll learn how to say your name as fast as I can so that when I see you again, I'll be able to pronounce it correctly." Joe laughed and said "don't worry Jimmy. You and all the students can call me Mr. Star whenever you want." Jimmy turned next to Roger and said "are you a superintendent also Mr. Bishop?" Roger smiled at him and said "no Jimmy, I am going to teach chemistry and physics at central high school starting in January." Jimmy got a big smile on his face and said "oh wow, I'm going to have you as a teacher when I get to high school then. I love chemistry, and I like to study the periodic table of elements. I know that water is H2O, salt is NaCl and hydrogen peroxide is H2O2." Roger excitedly said "you're absolutely right Jimmy. Did you do you're science project on chemistry today?" Jimmy shook his head no and said "I wanted to learn as much as I can about hurricanes. I can give you and Mr. Star my presentation later if you want to hear it?" Both Joe and Roger said "We'd really like to hear it, Jimmy." Joe followed up with a question of "do you want to be like CJ and be a weatherman on television?" Jimmy thought for a few seconds and said "I'm not sure what I want to do yet Mr. Star. I like to read and learn. There are so many fun things I can be when I grow up so it's going to be a hard choice for me." I did not notice Fred came up behind Toby. Jimmy noticed him and said "daddy, please meet Mr. Star and Mr. Bishop. Mr. Star is going to be our school superintendent next year, and Mr. Bishop will be teaching chemistry and physics to me when I get to high school." Alex made proper introductions of Joe and Roger to Fred and Toby. Once everyone had finished their greetings Jimmy said "okay everyone, we should get back into the gym so you can all get a seat. My teacher told me to stand by my project when they announce the winners." Joe and Roger took a seat in the front row as the current superintendent wants to introduce both of them to the audience. The rest of us took a seat in the third row of bleachers where we had an excellent view of Jimmy. The school principal and current superintendent kicked off the awards program. Each of the commented on how proud they are of everyone who took part in the science fair. The principal explained that the judges found four different areas which will receive an award today. He said "there will be an award presented for biology, chemistry, meteorology and anatomy." In addition to the four areas, there will be a best of show winner for the top project discovered today. I know that all four of "my kids" cannot be a winner, but down deep I hope one of them wins the meteorology award with another one of them being the best in show winner. The superintendent then introduced Roger and Joe along with their upcoming new positions in the St Petersburg school district. Roger made his comments first by saying "it's an honor to be here with all of you today, and I ask all of you future scientists to continue in your studies. Your teachers asked me to let you know that everyone who completed their project here today gets an `A' on it." All of the kids erupted in cheers of excitement, along with a thunder of applause from the audience. Roger finished up his comments with "I look so forward to teaching all of you chemistry and physics when you reach high school. Keep up the good work, and now let's hear who the winners are from our new superintendent." Joe stepped up and said "it is such a privilege to be here with all of you today. It's been an extreme pleasure to meet a number of the students, parents and community members here today. Whenever you see me in a school, in a shop or on a street in town, please call me Mr. Star. Mr. Starsyntorski is such a difficult name for our youngsters to pronounce. I even have problems pronouncing it on my difficult days." The crowd left loose with a huge round of applause and laughter. Joe continued and said "seriously though, seeing the turnout here today fills me with so much joy. I've dedicated my life to educating youth, and meeting so many of you today makes me happy that I have decided to join the St Petersburg school district." He turned to all of the kids and said "you're all winners here today. Please do me a favor today and introduce yourself to me before you leave today." He returned to facing the audience and said "and now, let's get down to business and announce our winners. If your name is called, please come up and join Mr. Bishop and myself. I also ask that your parents join us from the audience." Joe announced the winner of the anatomy, biology and chemistry categories first. The children came up to Joe and Roger, along with their parents joining them. Each of the children were given a blue ribbon along with a trophy. Joe then said "now for our meteorology award, I'm happy to announce that Ralphie Smothers is the winner today." I was so proud of Ralphie and saw the excitement in him as he went to the stage. His mom and dad also went to the stage and each of them gave him a big hug and kiss. Ralphie saw me in the audience, and waived at me as he accepted his ribbon and trophy. Joe went back up to the microphone and said "our best in show award also comes from the meteorology subject. I had the pleasure to meet this young man earlier today and I'm very impressed with his knowledge of both meteorology and chemistry. Please join me in congratulating our best of show winner everyone, who is Jimmy Peterson." Jimmy excitedly put both of his hands up to his mouth, and ran up to the stage. All of us near Fred jumped out of our seats and shook Fred's hand as he exited the row. Fred made his way to the stage, and gave Jimmy a big hug. Joe then said "Jimmy, do you have anything you want to say to the audience?" Jimmy went to Joe who handed him the microphone. Jimmy smiled at the crowd and said "I want to thank everyone who came out here today to support all of us kids. It's been so much fun working on my project with my friends Ralphie, Scott and Betsy. We all learned a lot from each other. I know that the four of us also want to thank CJ Walters for his help at the Pinellas Partners in Action Community Center. CJ has given us so much encouragement in order to be here today. He's makes me want to learn so much more about science in my future. I'd also like to thank my dad for his support, love and encouragement that he gives me on a daily basis. I love you daddy and CJ." The crowd gave Jimmy a round of applause, and the principal ended the program by thanking everyone for their attendance and support of the entrants today. I sat in my seat for a few minutes after the principal ended the show. Wally was on my right side, and Alex was on my left. Both of them leaned into me and Wally said "how does it feel my love to have coached the meteorology and the best in show winners today?" I wiped a few tears from my cheeks and looked at each one of them. I then said "this is one of my most pleasant memories in my life. I'm so fortunate to have had the opportunity to work with my kids, and I want to continue the work at the center with so many more children. Thank you both for supporting me through this, and accepting that sweetheart of a boy out there. He's changed my life in such a positive way. Let's go congratulate all of the winners." Before we got to the stage, Alex said "I've got to make some calls. Bailey and several others are ready to start celebratory party preparations if Jimmy wins the contest. We even have a cake on standby at the bakery. Do you two care if everyone invades our place to celebrate Jimmy's win?" Wally and I looked at each other, smiled and Wally said to Alex "I expected you to have something in the works chief. Let's go for it, and give Jimmy a wonderful afternoon party." I said "do you care chief if I add some more guests to the party list? I'd like to invite Ralphie, Scott, Betsy and their parents to our place?" Alex just smiled and said "go for it, CJ. You can also invite all of the winners, and I'll have the cake decorated saying congratulations to all of the scientists on a job well done." I just smiled at him and said "thanks Alex, let's go with that in case we have more show up than anticipated. I know they'll all love the recognition. Does Randy and Leo know about this, as I know Randy will want to congratulate all of them?" Alex cracked a smile and said "Randy is on-call to pick up the cake. Most of the crew will be in attendance to celebrate Jimmy's win! Toby and I are going to head out early to help get the patio in order." I finally made my way to Jimmy and picked him up to give him a big hug. Fred was by me when I said "congratulations Jimmy, you did it. I'm so proud of you and all of the hard work you put into your project." He looked at me and said "thanks CJ. This makes me want to learn so much more about science." He then put his lips next to my ear and said "thank you for all the help and encouragement. You're a great mentor and friend. I love you." I put Jimmy down and said "be sure and congratulate all of the other winners, and make sure you follow up with Ralphie, Scott and Betsy." Jimmy just smiled at me and said "I will CJ. I'll see you later." I was surprised when Josh tapped me on the shoulder. He had a camera operator with him, and said "hey CJ. Bailey wanted us to come out and get footage of the contest today. Will you point the four you helped, so I can interview them for the news shows tonight?" I pointed out my four kids, as well as all of the winners. Josh took it from there and got small interviews with all of them. I'm anxious to see the segment on the news tonight. The crowd lingered around the school for almost one hour. Wally and I made invites to a number of kids and their parents. We clued Fred into what was going on, but Alex and Toby had beaten us to him. He smiled at both of us and said "Toby already left me know that him and Alex were leaving to go get things set up. Thanks, you two for hosting the party and inviting so many people. I know Jimmy is going to be so surprised and excited about it. I have not told him about the party, as I want it to be a surprise to him." I made my last invite to Scott and his father who I met before at the center. I told Scott how proud I am of him and said "I hope you and your dad can attend a party this afternoon to celebrate everyone's success on their project?" Scott looked at his dad and said "that sounds like fun dad. Can we please go?" Eddie, his father, said "sure sport, that sounds like a lot of fun. Thank you, CJ, that's such a generous offer from you." Scott said "hey dad, I want to go and introduce myself to Mr. Star before he leaves. I'll be back." I smiled at Eddie as Scott ran towards Joe and Roger. I said "little does Scott know that Mr. Star and Mr. Bishop will be at the party later. Their first names are Joe and Roger, and they're both very nice." Eddie replied "they both seem very nice, and I love how Mr. Star interacted with the kids and parents today. CJ, I'm not sure if you know that I'm in a gay relationship? My partner Taylor and I don't advertise it too much, as we don't want to hurt Scott in anyway." I gave Eddie a large smile and said "I'm aware of it, Eddie and I bet you did not know that I'm gay as well? My partner and I are low-key in the community, but we take pride in our relationship. We have a number of gay friends. You, Scott and Taylor are welcome into our community for any event you can attend. We have quite a few Friday happy hour celebrations at our condo complex. Jimmy and his dad Fred are moving into the complex. We'd all love for you three to come and join us. It's a great group of guys, and Jimmy has adopted us all as parents." Eddie gave me a bigger smile, shook my hand sand said "thank you CJ. You did not have to disclose any of your personal information to me, but I'm glad you did. Taylor is working now, but is off at 3:00 pm. He's a registered nurse at the local hospital in town, where I work also as a hospital pharmacist. I know he will be ecstatic for the invite, and you can count us in for attending once he is off work. Will it put a spoiler on the event if an interracial gay couple appears this afternoon?" I gave Eddie a smile, put my hand on his shoulder and said "absolutely not! Everyone is welcome, and I hope today puts you three at ease so you will join us in future events. We usually have something brewing each weekend and invite all we can to our festivities. I know after this afternoon, you, Taylor and Scott will have 20 plus new friends. Here, let me give you my contact information and address. We'll see you three later this afternoon." I lost track of Wally, but saw him with Joe and Roger talking away. I tried to make my way to them, but continued to get requests by kids and their parents for autographs and a picture with them. The parents were all very nice to me and complimented me on coming to the contest to support and encourage children. I was glad that I was wearing a channel 2 polo as it made for good public relations. Josh came back around to me and said "the camera operator wants to get video of you, me and the five winners. Will you help out with it?" I smiled at Josh and said "let's gather the winners up." I was exhausted by the time the crowd starting thinning out. I finally did catch up with Wally, Joe and Roger. They were talking about houses in the area and Wally is going to show two houses to them tomorrow morning that he does not have a contract on yet. Joe and Roger are staying at a hotel tonight, so we made sure to invite them over for food and beverages before going to the hotel. They were both appreciative of the invite with Joe saying "thanks guys. Alex has told me so much about the party patio. I'm anxious to see the complex with a different perspective now. I'm not sure what all Alex has shared with you about my previous experience at the complex, but it's easier for me to go there now knowing it's a home for Alex and so many interesting people. Can we bring anything for the party?" I replied "just bring yourselves. I know the kids and parents who will be there will appreciate you both showing up." I'm glad we brought multiple cars to the science fair. Jimmy and Fred were still talking to people when Wally and I decided to make our exit. I went up to them and told them that Wally and I are leaving, but for them to continue to enjoy themselves. Jimmy said "okay CJ. Will we get to see you later today?" I ruffled Jimmy's hair and said "yeah, we'll see you later. Maybe we can even have cheeseburgers tonight together." Jimmy just smiled at me and said "cool CJ. Thanks again, and I'll see you later." Wally and I made our way back to the condo. The crew had everything ready to go, and several of them were out on the patio enjoying an early afternoon beer. I was surprised to see Jer sitting with the group. I went to him, gave him a hug and said "it's a great surprise to see you today. I thought you'd be in Bradenton by now for the rest of the weekend." He replied "well when Toby texted Zeke and me about Jimmy's big win, Zeke and I decided to join in the celebration. That little guy touched both of our hearts and it's also wonderful to see all of you again. I also think Zeke wants me in the sling, swing and fuck bench again this weekend. I'm in full agreement with his plan." We both cracked up on that comment and Jer said "Zeke is on his way now and should be here within the hour. We've got big news as well. I'm transferring to the Bradenton store for my main job, and will be moving in with Zeke. I'm still going to work at the Buccaneers games. What can I say CJ other than he swept me off my feet, and lust has quickly turned into love at first sight." I gave Jer a big hug and said "congratulations to both of you. I'm so happy for both of you. Do you care if share the news with UD and Jack?" Jer replied "not at all. Be sure to mention that we welcome them back anytime they can make it down for another wild and crazy adventure together." I checked in with a few of my closest allies in the group and informed them about Eddie, Taylor and Scott coming later today. I said "Scott is one of the four kids I have worked with. His biological father is Eddie and his other father is Taylor. Eddie is very concerned to show up today as he does not want to cause any problems for us. I told him that anyone is welcome and by the end of the day they will have over twenty new friends." Aaron quickly replied saying "it's a shame that anyone has those worries in today's society. Don't worry CJ, we'll make them feel welcome." Bailey smiled at his partner, gave him a kiss on the cheek and said "absolutely right my love. We'll make them feel very welcome CJ, and maybe they can join us for future parties and happy hours." Alex, Trev and Carl concurred with the sentiments expressed by Aaron and Bailey. I gave everyone a smile and said "thanks my friends, I'm so blessed to have you all in my life." A few minutes later, Randy entered the condo with a huge sheet cake. It was beautiful and very appropriate for all of the kids who will show up. Randy looked at me and said "I hope you don't mind, but I asked Jan to stop by after she closes the bakery. She remembers Jimmy and wants to congratulate him." I smiled at Randy and said "no problem at all. She can join us in some food and a piece of cake. It may also be a good event for her to make new contacts for future business. Where is Leo at today?" Randy said "Leo could not get off work. He has a wedding party that he's carting around town today and tonight. He said to tell everyone hello." We set the cake up on the dining room table. Between the table and breakfast bar, we should have enough room for all of the food. Bailey and Carl got a few extra tables and chairs from the station which were set up in the living room. There are plenty of beverages for the kids, and the kegerator and bar are well stocked for any adult beverages desired. I hope there is enough room for everyone, but Carl said "don't sweat the small stuff CJ. We can always add an overflow area into our place if we need to." Alex cracked up once he said it and added "yeah, maybe Zeke and Jer can put on a show for everyone." All of us busted out in thunderous laughter as Jer blushed into three different shades of red which clashed terribly with his body hair. People started to show up after 3:30. Betsy and her parents were the first to arrive of my kids. The crew went into overdrive making everyone feel welcome. Bailey kicked in as the host of the day offering drinks to all and making sure he asked each child what they did for their science fair project. He showed so much interest in each child that came in. I went over to Aaron who was watching Bailey interact with the kids. I put my arm on his shoulder and said "wow, he is a natural magnet with children, isn't he?" Aaron smiled and said "he sure is. We have actually been talking seriously about adoption. Seeing him like this brings out so many warm feelings in me. I think he and I can be good parents to a child, and maybe it can fill the void in his life left by his daughter." I responded with "perhaps Aaron, I know he loves you so much and you my friend have filled his void in life thoroughly. You two will be good parents if you decide to adopt." Eventually there were enough people to where Alex kicked in on grill duties. I offered to help him, with him saying "go mingle with everyone and spread that dazzling personality of yours." I cracked up at him and said "I should have reserved the community room for this had I been thinking." He said "I checked earlier in the week on it, and it's already booked. We'll be fine with space -- life Carl said, don't sweat the small stuff CJ." Each child that came in noticed the cake and wanted a picture of them taken with the cake before it was cut. They were impressed with it, and I don't know how many thank-you acknowledgements I received from children and their parents. It's going to be an enjoyable afternoon for everyone, and we're not even an hour into the party. The condo and patio were buzzing with conversation, laughs and soft music suited for kids. I remember the first Taylor Swift song coming on and before I knew it several of the children were singing and screaming on the patio with the music. As the song was playing, I heard the voice that I have learned to love so well. Jimmy entered and said "hi Bailey, what's going on today?" I looked over and Jimmy had come in with Fred behind him. Bailey shook Fred's hand then got down on one knee and said "it's a congratulations party for you and all of your classmates on doing such a good job on your science projects." Jimmy looked around the room, noticed the food on the table and breakfast counter and then said "how did you guy's plan all of this without me knowing about it?" He threw his arms around Bailey's neck and gave him a hug. Bailey looked into his eyes and said "we wanted to surprise you for being the best in show today. Are you surprised?" He smiled and said "yeah, I am Bailey. You're even playing a Taylor Swift song for me!" With that, Jimmy headed for the patio to see who all was outside. Soon, he and a number of children were laughing, singing and dancing to the music. Fred came over to me and gave me a hug. He looked me square in the eyes and said "thank you for getting Jimmy back to the Jimmy I know he can be. He's so happy with how our lives are changing, and we owe quite a bit of the change to you CJ." I looked at Fred and said "my pleasure, my friend. It's me who should be thanking you. That little guy has brought a new avenue for me to pursue in my life. I love working with children, and want to continue it in our community." I returned a hug to Fred, and he said "is Toby here?" I nodded my head to him and said "I saw him last on the patio talking to some people. If you need a few private minutes with him, Carl and Trev's place is open." Fred grinned at me and said "okay thanks for that piece of information. I do need a few minutes with him, but we won't use the playroom!" Fred and I busted out in laughter, and he then exited to the patio to find his love. A few minutes later, I saw Zeke entering with Eddie, Taylor, Scott and Jan with him. I went over and joined Bailey in welcoming everyone. I first gave Zeke a hug and said "glad to see you, my friend. I'm so glad you could be here with us, and congratulations on your news!" Zeke just smiled at me and said "thanks CJ. After hearing Jimmy's presentation a couple of times, I wanted to come and congratulate him in person. As far as the news, I'm very happy and I have you to thank for the invite to the football game that day. Jer is the ideal partner I have been searching for. I'm so happy, and in love. Is he here yet?" I smiled, pointed to the patio and said "the last I saw him he was pouring some beer for our guests." Zeke smiled at me and headed for the patio. I gave Jan a hug next and said "thank you so much for the on-call cake. I hope you brought some business cards with you. I've already had several parents ask me who made the cake." Jan laughed and said "where's that future meteorologist? I want to congratulate him." I replied "the last I saw him, he and several children were singing and dancing on the patio." While Zeke, Jan and I were talking, Bailey was charming Eddie, Taylor and Scott. When I joined the conversation, Scott was telling Bailey about the Fujita scale of tornadoes. I shook hands with both Eddie and Taylor. Taylor just looked at Eddie and said "you weren't kidding me, were you?" Eddie just cracked up laughing as Taylor said "hello CJ, it's wonderful to meet you. I thought my husband was pulling my leg when he told me you were at the science fair and invited the three of us to your condo for a party. I can't thank you enough for the invite, as well as all of the help you have given Scott with his project. It's people like you who make this community a better place to live. We need more CJ's in St Pete." I just cracked up and Bailey interjected before I could saying, "one CJ is enough, and I was the smart one to bring him to St Pete for a job." Taylor just smiled and said "well Bailey, congrats to you for spotting such a wonderful individual." Bailey then poured a lemonade for Scott, and escorted Eddie and Taylor to the kegerator. As I pulled the screen door shut, a hand appeared which stopped my pull. Joe and Roger were towering over me as I said "I'm so glad you two could make it here today. We've got plenty of children and parents who will be glad to see you. Please make yourself at home today, and can I get you two anything to drink?" Joe said "thanks CJ, we're so glad to be here with all of you. Maybe we'll both start with an ice tea, and perhaps switch to a beer or a mixed drink after some families leave. I hear that you and Wally make a killer bourbon drink?" I smiled at them, gave them a wink and said "sounds great Mr. Star. Before you start your new job, will you agree to an interview with me on television? I think it will be a great segment to introduce you and your educational thoughts for the school district." Joe just smiled and replied "I love that idea CJ, and will be happy to sit down with you before I start in January." I shut the screen door, left it unlocked and followed Joe and Roger into the kitchen area getting them each an ice tea. It was not long at all when several children approached him saying "it's Mr. Star, thanks for coming out to celebrate with us." It turned out to be a wonderful afternoon. Alex took a break from grill duties with Carl relieving him. I mingled with so many children and parents which was very rewarding for me. Alex came up to me and said "hey big guy, did you ever picture a party of this nature in the condo and on the patio?" I cracked up and said "no, not of this nature. It's a nice mix of people and everyone is enjoying themselves tremendously. It's just what I wanted though, a place for people to relax, enjoy themselves and not worry about putting on a show for others. Thank you, my friend for getting this organized. Once again you have surpassed my expectations on how many people we can fit on this patio." Alex just smiled at me and replied "I've enjoyed getting it organized CJ. It's helped me pass the time today, being away from my hairless stud. I wish he was here enjoying the day with us." Bailey and I found ourselves at the high-top table. I said "hey boss, thanks for all of your help in planning the party today. I know that Jimmy and all of the kids have tremendously enjoyed it." Bailey replied "I've enjoyed it as well. That child has just inspired me in so many ways CJ and it's been nice to recognize him and all of the other children here today." I said "I agree Bailey, and I have two ideas that I want to run by you next week for future stories or segments." Bailey pulled out a chair and said "why wait until next week, give me a sales pitch now you television stud!" I pulled out a chair as well and said "my first idea is an interview with Joe before he assumes the superintendent role. We can use it as an introduction to the community for him. Perhaps we can have him in two times a month then for a recurring segment on what's occurring in St Petersburg school district." Bailey just smiled at me and said "stop thinking with that GM mind of yours. I love the idea, and I want you to take it and run with it." I gave him a big smile and said "great, except I may want to do the next idea and have Jennifer do the recurring school segment. I want to do a weekly segment with children between the ages of eight through ten. I see other stations focusing on high school students or athletes of the week. What about a segment highlighting the leaders of the future. Ask the kids questions about what they think of the future and how they see themselves in their vision?" Bailey sat for a minute and I could tell the wheels were spinning in his mind. He finally spoke up with "I love the idea CJ; except I want to do this segment. After talking with the children today, I am in absolute awe of their knowledge, their curiosity and their genuine simplicity of events going on around them. This is a killer idea CJ, and we need to both work on it together." I shook his hand and said "sounds great Bailey. Let's start on it tonight after the families leave. We can develop more ideas around it over drinks and cigars." Bailey just smiled at me and said "you're on my friend. Thank you for reviving this old geezer and giving him a new purpose in his broadcasting career." The party started winding down before 7:00 with families starting to leave. Everyone was so appreciative of the event. I was not the only one receiving acknowledgements as so many of my group members were thanked for their efforts and hospitality in throwing the party. Around 7:30, the place had cleared out tremendously. There were additions to the usual suspects with Zeke, Jer, Joe, Roger, Eddie, Taylor and Scott staying behind. Jimmy and Scott went into my office, as Jimmy wanted to show him my pictures. When they returned to the patio, Jimmy went to Fred and said "daddy, is it okay if Scott stays here tonight? I want to show him my new room. We can listen to some music, play some games and try out the bunk beds?" Fred smiled at him and said "sure Jimmy, it's okay with me if it's okay with Scott's parents?" Eddie and Taylor both gave a big smile with Eddie saying "that sounds very nice. How does it sound to you Scott?" Scott just smiled and said "I'd really like to stay over dad. This has been a fun day, and Jimmy wants to show me his new room and house." Taylor spoke up and said "Fred it's fine with us. Are you sure it's not too much trouble?" Fred replied "it's no problem at all. Jimmy has been wanting to use his new bunk beds with a friend." Jimmy and Scott screamed in excitement and Jimmy said "daddy, can we go ahead to our place and you can follow us later?" Fred said "how about if Toby and I go to our place with you two. We can sit on the patio there, and if you two need us for anything you can just come out and get us?" Jimmy smiled and said "that sounds fine daddy. Come on everyone, let's go!" Taylor said "Fred, do you mind if Eddie and I join you and Toby? I'd really like to see some of the renovations you're doing. The ideas you told me about sounded like ideas Eddie and I have been discussing." Fred said "that sounds great guys. It's not all finished yet, but I'd love for you two to see it. I don't think that CJ and Wally will even mind if we take a couple of pitchers of beer with us to drink on the patio?" Before I could even answer, my handsome stud spoke up and said "Fred and Toby know where the pitchers are at. Help yourselves, and if you need any more, we'll leave the front door unlocked." The four adults and two boys said their farewells and went to Fred's place. Hugs were exchanged between so many people. Fred gave me a bear hug and said "thanks for everything today. I'll be here tomorrow to help you clean up." I smiled and said "enjoy your evening and don't worry about here." Eddie and Taylor then approached me each with a hug. Eddie said "thank you so much, and if you don't mind, we'd love to join you for any weekend events here at the complex. We've been searching for new friends, and like you told me earlier today I feel as though I gained 20 plus new friends today." Taylor echoed similar sentiments and I said "thank you for both coming out today. You two and Scott are welcome here anytime you can make it." Toby was bringing up the rear of the group with a big smile on his face. He gave me a hug, kissed me on the cheek and said "it was an absolute perfect day. Thanks for everything. It's going to be a special night tonight. Fred told me earlier he wants to try a sixty-nine position along with more tonight. I'll share more with you tomorrow." I gave Toby a big smile and said "enjoy yourself and take care of Fred for us." As he left, he turned around to me and said "don't worry CJ, he's in good hands." Everyone returned to the patio except for Wally and myself. He pulled me in for a hug, gave me a kiss to end all kisses and squeezed both of my ass cheeks. After he broke the kiss, he looked deep into my eyes and said "after we throw out all of the remaining partiers, can I interest you in a night of passionate love making? I don't think I've told you how much I love you today and need to make it up to you." A big smile appeared on my face and I gave my man a return kiss to try and top the one he just finished with me. As I broke the kiss, I said "I will be ready for you, stud. It's been such a nice day, and I cannot think of a better way to finish it off with you and me making unbridled passionate love all night long." It was a nice evening on the patio. Wally's bourbon drinks and Bailey's vodka specials are flowing well. Everyone is enjoying getting to know Joe and Roger better. I can tell already that they'll be part of the Friday happy hours at the complex. After a couple of drinks, Joe and Roger decided to call it a night and return to their hotel. Wally suggested that we meet up at 9:00 in the morning for breakfast first, followed by tours of the two houses under construction. Joe and Roger agreed to the plan, as they still will have time to go to open houses in the afternoon. The chief was getting a little toasted and yelled out said "Joe and Roger, trust me after you see a Walters Construction home, you'll buy it on the spot! I'll even put in all the finish work for you two." Wally cracked up and said "Alex is quickly becoming the king of finish work in the St Pete Beach area. Both of the houses are near completion. We're holding on a number of items to see if a buyer comes through and wants to choose the interior finishing. I just appreciate you two taking the time to look at them. I can tell that the one on Bayside Street may appeal to both of you. If not, no worries -- I'm just so happy that you're joining our community and it will be great to have you attend our future happy hours together." Roger smiled and said "I can tell that the St Petersburg area is going to be good for both of us. This has been such a nice day, and it's been so nice getting to know all of you." Wally, Alex and I walked Joe and Roger to the door. We said our farewells to them and wished them a good evening. As they were heading to the elevator, Toby was heading back to our place with two empty pitchers. As he got closer, he said "hey everyone we ran out of beer. The boys are playing games in Jimmy's room, we've got Taylor Swift vibrating the speakers for the boys and the rest of us are enjoying an evening of playing euchre on the patio. Eddie and Taylor are great people, and I can't believe how loose and comfortable Fred is tonight. He's even showing affection at the table with me while we're playing cards. Fred told the guys they're welcome to use the spare bedroom tonight if they don't feel like driving home." Wally smiled and said "I trust you're staying over as well Toby?" Toby grinned at Wally and said "yeah, and I think tonight might be a big night for the two of us. Fred whispered to me before I left to refill the pitchers saying he wants to feel me inside him tonight." I smiled at Toby, pulled him in for a hug and said "you better fill those up quick, and get back to your man! The door will be unlocked tonight if you need any more beer to go." The rest of our patio partiers decided to either go to the playroom or hot tubbing with Bailey and Aaron. Soon, it was just Wally and me alone in the condo. I looked deep into his eyes and said "hey sweetheart, when was the last time we were alone in our place?" He pulled me in for a hug and began ravaging my mouth with a beautiful kiss. As we were kissing, he worked my shorts off and dropped them to the floor. He broke the kiss and said "I'm not sure baby when the last time was that we had this place to ourselves. Let's make the most of it though. You and Toby can trade stories tomorrow of who had the bigger night." He picked me up and carried me into the bedroom just as though we were crossing the threshold once again. I kicked the door closed, and he locked it. What a day, and what a beautiful evening it's shaping up to be. I feel great and my love for Wally continues to grow more than I ever thought possible. The condo complex is full of love tonight, and I can't stop wishing that Toby and Fred enjoy their first sexual experience together. The long-range forecast is looking wonderful for so many people in my life.
