Chapter 5

Back at work, I went over weekly figures for the restaurants and then called my
Father to go over the numbers. He was pleased with the work I was doing, as
was I, that everything was going so well, not only with the restaurants, but now

I mentioned I want to have the head chefs come in and I would do a training
seminar and to see about putting some new creations on the menu for the
restaurants. Dad, thought that was an excellent idea and we picked some dates
and decided I would contact the head Chefs about the classes. I checked my
emails and was thrilled to have one from Tommy and he stated he was looking
forward to seeing me tonight and excited about dinner. I answered back saying I
missed him and was also looking forward to seeing him tonight as well. I

care of. She said no, not at the moment, so I called my mother and asked if she

would have her cook run something up... I said I would be there in about 45 min,
as I had to drive down from town. I said I had something to chat with her about.
After saying good bye, we hung up and I prepared to leave. I told Susan to call if
anything came up and that I was going down to have lunch with my Mother.

The drive down was fine and very little traffic so I made good time...I pulled thru
the gates and admired the beautiful gardens my mother was so very proud of.

I parked, and went to front door and was greeted by their houseman, George
and was admitted in saying Mother was on the patio and was, of course,
expecting me... I strolled outside and reached over to kiss my Mother on the
cheek. I, then presented her with a lovely long stem pink rose, her favorite. She
was wearing a beautiful Caftan of abundant, bright colors, a rather large strand
of pearls and matching earrings and looked splendid, as always.

Mother asked how were things going and I said fabulous. I mentioned the
meeting with all the head chefs for the following week and she seemed pleased.
I, then mentioned I had met someone and proceeded to tell her about Tommy
leaving out the explicit details, but did mention he was coming for dinner, and I
would learn more about him and his family. She inquired what he did and told
her he was a partner in a large law firm downtown and did corporate law.  She
asked, which law firm, and I said, Gilman and Son, Law Associates. She said it
was a wonderful and extremely well-known firm and quite large.

I told her how we met and she smiled when I told her what he looked like...She
then told me to bring him down for dinner the following weekend. I said had
asked him to come over for dinner at my apt. The maid served us on the patio, a
wonderful fresh Chef Salad and cool refreshing iced tea with mint and lemon.
We chatted about this and that, I inquired about her charity work and he bridge
club...I gazed down at my watch and realized we had been chatting for over 2
hrs. We had a small scoop of mint sorbet and small demitasse of fabulous
coffee. "I hate to run Mother, but I have a hot date and still have to stop at
Farmers market and then get home and cook. With a kiss, I bid farewell to my
mother and dashed out the door.

I drove to the nearest Farmers market and picked up some fresh Aubergine,
(eggplant), onions, fresh tomatoes, garlic, parsley, chives and lemons. I then
stopped at the local fish and poultry shop and picked up some fresh chicken
thighs. I went mentally through my pantry and I had everything else. So back in
to the car I went and drove home listening to an old radio show, "The Shadow"
on Serious Radio.

Tommy called me on my mobile and inquired if he could bring anything for
tonight? I said, just your sexy self and a great bottle of a French white. We will
dine about 7:30 and said I was so looking forward to seeing him and how much I
missed him through the day, Tommy said he had missed me too and was very

When reaching my Apt, I walked straight into the kitchen and started to put
things away and organizing the kitchen and started to prep for my dinner. I had
decided on Ratatouille, with broiled chicken thighs and some Lyonnaise
potatoes and for dessert and layered mousse au chocolate with fresh raspberry
puree and topped with orange liquor scented whipped cream. I prepared the
veggies and seasoned the chicken.

Then went into the dining room and set my table, with a stunning white damask
table cloth with matching napkins, Waterford candle sticks with white candles,
got out one of the silver chests and picked out my Reed and Barton "Francis the
First silverware" and some of my Waterford crystal wine glasses. I had picked up
some red roses at the farmers market and made a stunning arrangement and
set in in between the candle sticks. In my opinion the table looked fabulous.
Gleaming silver and crystal, with just a hint of red from the beautiful roses..

then in a skillet with olive oil, some fresh thyme, added a splash of wine and my
ratatouille was cooking, on low heat, I marinated my chicken in lemon, herbs d'
province, some white wine, olive oil, a bit a fresh garlic and S & P. I decided to
make Lyonnaise potatoes, so I prepped those. Everything was ready, the smells
coming off the stove were making my mouth water. I also started my chocolate
mousse and pur?ed the fresh raspberries and put that together for dessert. I
placed the Mousse and raspberry puree into crystal glasses and placed them in
the fridge...YUMMO!!

 I went into my bedroom to see about what to wear. I thought about just an
apron with no clothes, but thought that was a bit tacky, at least for now.. I had
to laugh at myself. I laid down and read for a bit and checked the time. Tommy
was due at 7 and now just after 6, so went in to shower and dress, I decided to
dress all in black, beautifully cut slacks, black pecay shirt with the cuffs slightly

cologne, did my hair and I was ready for my love to arrive.

I had told the door-man already that when Tommy arrived he was to be sent
right up at all times and he was going to be a frequent visitor. I told the door-
man his name and requested he always be treated with the up-most respect.
I then walked into the living room, got out some antique crystal glasses, for
drinks and went into the kitchen to make some hors 'd oeuvres. I took some
sliced Baggett and made a mixture of mayo, chopped green onions, some grated

I went into the dining room, lit the candles, dimmed the lights placed the wine

to get his. I said we would be in touch and discuss lunch when we each got the

Arriving at the office, Tommy smiled as he walked in and his secretary, Sheila,

broad smile on his face. She handed him his messages and asked about coffee.
He simply nodded and went to his expansive office. He called his father, in his
office and said he would like to speak to him this morning, if he was free. Dad
said to come down in a few minutes. Tommy hung up and Sheila, his right hand

Robbie and we met last week and are now boyfriends. You will meet him
around lunch time, if he is free for lunch. I am going in to see Dad and explain
things to him...I am sure he will be happy as he always askes when am I going to
settle down and find a partner. I think Mom and Dad will be happy for me and
then I want to arrange a dinner, so they can meet Robbie.

I walked down to Dads office and strolled in with a big grin...Dad got up and
came around his desk, hugged me and asked what was up? I started to tell him

he could meet him...I said we were possibly going to meet for lunch depending
on schedules. He asked what Robbie did and told him about the Restaurants.
Dad said, he knows the restaurants well and likes then a lot. "What is his last

totally surprised and repeated.. "BLACKFORD? You mean as in the 'Blackford
Corporation???' "I think so, but we haven't really discussed that..."

 Just then Robbie called and said he was free for lunch, and should I come to
you? I said yes and I wanted him to meet my dad and we could have lunch
together..  Great idea.. "What time?" I looked at Dad and he said about 12:30.
We agreed and hung up.

Robbie finished up some things regarding the meeting with all the head Chefs.
He looked at his watch and thought it was about time to leave. So, he got into
his car and drove over to the Gilman building and had the valet park his car. He
was dressed in a blue dress shirt the same color of his eyes, dark grey slacks and
a grey and blue plaid sport coat. He thought he looked good for a lunch meeting
where he was to meet Tommy's dad.

He strolled into the office, where the receptionist asked for his name, and she
said both Mr. Gilmans were expecting him and said to go down the hall and
the office was last door on the right. Slightly anxious, Robbie walked down the
long hallway and knocked on the closed door. Tommy answered, with a HUGE
smile and said to come in. Sitting behind his desk, sat Thomas Sr. and while on
the phone he waved Robbie over and to have a seat in front of the desk, while

had gone to CIA, and Le Gordon Bleu and was in charge of over-seeing the 10
restaurants in the family chain of Blackford's chain, as Senior Executive Chef.
Thomas Sr. said he had met Robbie's father several times at different functions
and his lovely Mother, as well.

Lunch was smashing success. Over coffee, Robbie suggested the families get
together soon for an informal meet and greet now that the guys were in a solid
relationship. He would check schedules and may be this coming weekend, in
Hillsborough at his parents' home for a get acquainted dinner. Robbie paid the

introduce both sets of parents. Daniel and Cynthia were excited and they

breakfast, a naked Tommy walked in and circled his strong arms and produced a
kiss on Robbie's neck. Good Morning lover, mine.. Smiling Robbie slightly turned
around and kissed his man deeply with great passion and returned the good
morning. They sat at the breakfast bar, ate and discussed their day with each
other. Tommy said he had a new client coming in at 9 and Robbie said he had to
prepare for his Executive meeting with all his chefs for tomorrow.

They showered together, and got off together, dried off and got dressed for the
day. Robbie mentioned lunch, but Tommy said he would just eat at his desk and
would be very busy for the whole day.

So, they were off and agreed to meet at home about 7 and maybe go out to
dinner, depending on how the day went. As Tommy drove to the office in the
financial district, he had stopped at a red light, when he was plowed into, from
behind, by a car who hadn't noticed the red light.. Tommy's car was spun
around and pushed into the intersection, the air-bags deployed and everything
came to a sudden halt... People rushed to the victims, and 911 was called.
Tommy was semi-conscious and stunned and not quite sure what happened. He
slowly came too and realized he had been in an accident. His first thought was
Robbie. The paramedics arrived, and the fire department removed Tommy from
the wrecked car.. Still stunned, he asked about the other driver. He was told the
driver was in bad shape with head injuries.. Both victims were transported to St
Francis Hosp.

When Tommy was in the ER he asked for someone to call his partner at
Blackford Corp and ask for Robbie Blackford and tell him what happened and
the call his Father at Gilman & Son, Law Assoc. Tommy laid back and now the
pain was starting to come while he was examined by the Doctors and nurse.  He
drifted off to sleep and then the Dr. gently asked if he was awake enough to
chat about his condition. Tommy said sure but was getting a bit achy and the
pain was increasing all over and had a head ache. That is to be expected due to
the accident. He asked if anyone was there for him. Dr. Jones said there was a
dark-haired man quite frantic, asking about him. That would most likely be my
partner Robbie Blackford. I will go get him for you. Robbie walked in to the
room and walked over and kissed Tommy and asked how he felt. I hurt all over
and a head ache but so glad you are here with me! Robbie said where else
would be! If you wanted some more attention, just ask, you dumb ass, and this
hospital crap, STOPS NOW!! And then kissed him on the fore-head
Slightly laughing. Tommy's parents walked in looking quite concerned.

Hey, Mom, Dad, sorry to be such a bother, but glad you're here. This handsome
man is Robbie Blackford, my new boyfriend. Dr. Jones just walked in and the
Gilman's introduced them-selves. Dr. Jones said there was nothing broken, but
some strained muscles and some bruising. Tommy could go home this
afternoon, and was to be on bed rest for the next day or two. Some pain meds
were prescribed. Thomas Sr. said he would go down the pharmacy and get
those. Tommy was released after two hrs and Robbie drove them home to
his apt, and asked the Gilman Sr.'s not to come tonight but tomorrow would be
better and Tommy was going to have a very light dinner, some pain meds and
off to dreamland. Danielle, had asked earlier, if there was anything she could do
for the boys and they thanked her and then prepared to go home...

Slowly they arrived at the apt. building and rode up in the elevator and walked
in to the apt. Tommy looked so tired as they walked into the bedroom, where
Robbie undressed Tommy, put him to bed and asked if he wanted anything.
Some juice or water would be nice and a kiss and then sleep. Robbie went to get
the juice and when he got back to their bedroom, Tommy was already asleep.

Robbie feeling lucky to have been let into the ER with Tommy. He, then decided
to talk to the family law firm and have Power of Attorney papers prepared for
them both to sign. The next day. This was important step but had to be taken,
for emergencies like this.. He got on the phone and called his parents and told
them what had happened. Both Daniel Sr. and Cynthia, were both very
concerned and asked if they could do anything. Nothing yet, replied Robbie, but
would keep them informed. What a day so far, Robbie thought to him-self, as he
sank deep into a chair in the living room and started to sob, letting his emotions
out. The tension relieved partly, he went to the kitchen, poured himself an iced
tea. He thought what he had to do to make Tommy as comfortable as possible
for the next week. He then got up and started to make a pot of vegetable soup
for supper. Made more iced tea. As the soup cooked away he gently walked into
the bedroom to check on the most precious thing in his life. Tommy seemed to
be sleeping peacefully and there was nothing more than Robbie wanted, was to
crawl into bed and hold his love and make the pain go away.

Robbie walked into the kitchen, checked the soup and made himself a
sandwich. He sat at the breakfast bar and slowly ate, not really hungry, but
knew he had to eat.

In a while he heard Tommy call his name. he got up and walked into the
bedroom, quietly and asked Tommy how he felt, "sore as hell but glad he was
home with Robbie. Robbie told him about the Power of Attorney papers he
talked to his lawyer about Tommy smiled and said he would take care of it
through his law firm. Robbie said fine, but didn't want him to over-do. Tommy
asked about the other driver and Robbie said he would check later, but he knew
he was transported to a hospital as well. He thought it was SF General. The he
asked about his car. Robbie was not sure but they would check with the SFPD
later. The called the SFPD later and asked about the car. The reply was it was
most likely totaled. Then a call to the Farmer's Ins. Co. and put in a claim...

Robbie asked Tommy if he was hungry, and he said a bit. Robbie asked what he
wanted and said a sandwich would be nice and maybe some iced tea. Robbie
brought the sandwich and a small bowl of soup, and tea and sat with his love
after delivering a kiss and said he was greatly relieved he would be ok! Tommy, I
love you so much and at first I thought I was going to lose you!!! Robbie then
started to cry and Tommy reached up and pulled Robbie to him gently and said
things were going to be fine. Just some rest and peace and quiet. After a while
Tommy dozed off and went to sleep for a few hours.

Both sets of parents called and came by that evening with dinner and flowers
for Tommy. Everyone and a fine large time getting re-acquainted with dinner,
laughter and some cute stories... It all soon ended, as Tommy was hurting and a
bit done in... Parents left and Robbie asked if Tommy wanted a shower...YES!!!
Was the answer so Robbie got Tommy up, stripped him and turned on the
shower for them both. Nothing too strenuous but some fun happened anyway
and it was off to bed for Tommy.

Obviously, Tommy was going to be off work for a while recovering and Robbie
was going to take a few days to be with Tommy.

Robbie was working on his meeting with the chefs, that had been changed to
Monday morning, due to the accident. Robbie reveled on how his life had
changed so completely over the last few weeks. He was in love with the greatest
and the sexiest guy he had ever met... and was sure the feelings were mutual.

After working for a while, he shut everything off, set the alarm, and crawled
into bed with Tommy. Tommy move over and put his arms around Robbie as
Robbie drifted off to sleep with a big smile on his face.
