Subject: 42 Robbie's True Love

42.

Robbie lay unconscious in his wrecked Mercedes. The airbags had deployed
and from the looks of things the car was pretty much totaled. The On-Star
feature went off and the police and medics were alerted. Also, as a special
feature they had added, the house phone rang at the residence.

Elsa answered, and said, "Blackford residence."

"This is the police calling to alert the household of an auto accident."

Elsa screamed for Tommy to pick up right now. Tommy answered and asked if
there was a problem. He was informed of an auto accident involving a
vehicle from this address. Tommy was shocked but had the presence of mind
to ask "Is everyone alright?"

The dispatcher said the male person driving the light-colored MB was being
taken out of the car by the fire department and would be transported to
Kaiser Hospital in Palm Desert. "We don't know his condition at this
point. This is all we know."

In shock and with tears running down his face, Tommy turned to find Elsa
and Daryl standing there is shock as well. "Let's get to Kaiser Hospital
ASAP. That is where they are taking Robbie.  Daryl will you drive, please?
I've got to call his parents right now and my folks as well." They all ran
to the SUV and started off to the hospital. With Daryl driving, Tommy
called Daniel on the plane since they were flying from Dallas to Palm
Desert.

Daniel answered right away, recognizing the number and said, "Hello Son,
what's up? Is everything ok?" In a very upset voice, Tommy croaked, "No
Daniel , it's not. Robbie was driving to the restaurant, when his car was
broadsided on the passenger side and pretty much totaled.  The fire
department had to get him out of the car and are rushing him to Kaiser here
in the Desert. I don't know his condition and I am scared shitless right
now. Daryl and Elsa are with me. Daryl is driving.  Meet us there as soon
as you can. We are almost to the hospital. Could you please call Dad and
tell them to meet us there too? How soon do you land?"

Daniel said, "We land in about 30 minutes and will be there as soon as we
can. Hang in thereson, we love you. I will call Thom right now and let them
know what is happening."

Daniel hung up and stared at Cynthia. With tears running down his face, he
told her what had happened and they would go straight to the hospital when
they arrived. Cynthia started to cry, "Oh God, please let our son be ok!!!"

"Daniel, you need to call Jr. and tell them to get hereÉor should we
wait to see how things are before we call? I think we should call and tell
them what is going on before telling them to fly down."  Daniel again
picked up the phone and call his other son and daughter-in-law. Dan
Jr. answered and was surprised by the call.  "Jr, I have some not so good
news about your brother. He was involved in an auto accident while driving
to the restaurant this afternoon to finish up for the party tonight. His MB
was hit broadside on the passenger side and it pretty much totaled the
car. The firemen had to get him out and they are rushing him to Kaiser. We
don't know how badly he is hurt. We land in Palm Desert in about 20 minutes
and are going straight to the hospital. I called Thom and Danielle and they
will meet us at the hospital as well. They were also flying in for the
party tonight. Jr. said they would fly down right away and they could use
the smaller jet. Daniel advised him to wait until they got more
information. We will call you as soon as we find out the facts. Dan said to
call ASAP and tell Tommy we love him and prayers are with you all. Daniel
cut the call and the parents hugged each other and Cynthia was still
crying.

Tommy, Daryl and Elsa arrived at the hospital and Tommy jumped immediately
out of the car before it had barely stopped. He ran through the emergency
doors and ran right to the admitting desk. In a panicked voice, he told the
lady his name and that they had brought in his husband, Mr. Robbie
Blackford, from a car accident. The Nurse looked at her screen and said yes
he was there and being looked after by the ER Dr. on duty.

"Is he ok? I need to know right away. PLEASE!!!" with tears running down
his face, "Let me get the Dr. for you. He will be with you ASAP."

Tommy went over to Elsa and Daryl and told them that he was there and being
treated. "But I don't know his condition. the Dr. will be out shortly."
Elsa was crying softly and Daryl was visibly very upset as well.

The trio sat down and held each other. It seemed like hours before the Dr
arrived in front of them. "Are you Tommy Gilman? I am Dr. Wilson."

Tommy interrupted the Dr. "PLEASE tell me Robbie is going to be OK and how
badly is he hurt?"

The Dr. smiled and replied, "He is going to be ok. He has a broken left arm
and a badly sprained right ankle and some cuts on his face from broken
glass. There is a pretty bad cut on his forehead from hitting the side
window. He is currently getting some stitches by a plastic surgeon, but he
will recover nicely. He is going to be pretty sore for a while and his arm
will be in a cast for about 6 weeks. There will be no permanent damage. We
will keep him here for a few days and then you can take him home!"


"I understand that you are from San Francisco and you have a home here
too. Is that right?  Tommy answered yes to both questions. I suggest you
all stay down here for a week or so and let him recover here and then you
can fly home. I suggest 1st class only please!"

Tommy sort of smiled and informed the Dr. they had their own private plane,
so it was not a problem. The Dr. smiled and said he could go see Robbie
shortly when they got him in a private room.

Tommy, Elsa and Daryl were hugging when Daniel and Cynthia flew into the
waiting room with panic on their faces. Cynthia went right to Tommy and
hugged him tightly. "How is he Tommy??  Please, we need to know! Daniel
hugged his son-in-law as well and Tommy repeated what the Dr. had told
them. With a huge sigh of relief, they all sat down. Elsa and Daryl offered
to get drinks for everyone. Daniel asked for black coffee and Cynthia hot
tea with a little cream and sugar. Tommy asked for iced tea with sugar. The
pair went off for the drinks. After about 10 minutes of sitting there, Thom
and Daniella walked in. They went straight to their son and asked how
Robbie was. With a huge sigh of relief, Tommy told them what had happened
and that Robbie was going to be fine after explaining what the Dr. had
said. There was a big sigh of relief and then they asked when they could
all see him?

"When they move him to a private room, but I want to be first if everyone
is okay with that!"  Everyone said of course.

A nurse came in at that moment asking for Tommy. He stepped forward and was
taken to Robbie's suite.

Robbie's head was wrapped in white bandages and his left arm was in a
cast. Among his cuts and bruises, a lot black and blue was forming with
bandages and a foot wrap on his right ankle, he was sitting there quietly,
sort of smiling, and look to be in pain, but was clearly happy to see his
frightened husband. Tommy quickly came over to the bed, leaned down and
gently kissed Robbie's lips. "God, you scared the living shit out of me
today, Mister man! Don't you ever fucking do this again and by the way, I
love you so damned much! Oh, and if you really didn't want to go to our
party tonight, couldn't you just fucking say so??"

Robbie sort of smiled and replied, "I was so scared and thought I was going
to die there in the car.  The paramedics were great as was the Fire
Department. The police kept the crowds back. I think I passed out in the
ambulance. But you're here now and I know you still love this banged up
body. I am going to be a mess for a while. They are going to keep me here
for about 3-4 days and then send me home to rest!"

Tommy said "both sets of or parents are here and want to come see you. Can
I bring them in?"  "yes, but let's keep in short and simple cause I am
really tired and want to go to sleep. I love you, baby!!!" Tommy smiled and
the men kissed gently once more. Tommy walked out to the waiting room to
get said parents.

First in were Daniel and Cynthia. Cynthia had been crying and was so happy
her boy was going to be ok!! She leaned over and kissed him on the cheek
and so did Daniel.. They were both so elated he was going to be ok.

Next in were Tommy's parents, Thom Sr. and Daniella. She also kissed Robbie
and Thom sort of shook hands and patted his shoulder gently. "You had us
pretty scared there, bub!!"Everyone laughed. "God, what some people will do
for a little attention!!"Everyone laughed again of course!!

 They said they would see him tomorrow before they left for home unless
they needed to stay."  "There is no need to stay. I will be out of hospital
in 2-3 days and at home down here for a while, until I can fly home. I will
be out of commission for a couple of weeks but can work from here and sort
of oversee things, and of course I have Tommy to help.

As Thom and Daniella were leaving, in came Elsa and Daryl. Elsa was a
member of the family and had been with Robbie for years before he even met
Tommy and was treasured by both men. She walked over and gave Robbie a big
kiss and said softly, "You scare me like this again, and you will really
need a Dr. Mister!!!" Everyone laughed. Robbie then looked at everyone and
asked, don't y'all have a party to get to??" Tommy said, "I am not leaving
you darling tonight or ever!!"

"But honey, you have to be there to represent us at the opening of the
restaurant. Please don't worry about me, I am going to have some yummy
tasteless broth and if I am good boy maybe some red Jell-O, (OH YUM), and
then slip into dreamland and that's if the fucking sweet nightingale's
don't come in every five minutes to check on me. Everyone laughed and said
their goodbyes. Tommy stayed for a bit. One of the orderlies brought Robbie
his luscious dinner and he did get his red Jell-O cubes: OH JOYÉOH
RAPTUREÉOH BLISS!!

Tommy said "I really want to be here with you baby, but I guess I will have
to go to the party tonight, at least for a while, and represent us. Then I
want to come back and spend the night with you!!"

"UUUMMMM, what part of you need to go home and rest after the party don't
you understand? I am going to try to sleep so I will get well quicker and
get the hell out of here sooner!

You go to the party with our parents and then go home and get some rest,
PLEASE baby. I love you so fucking much but please do as I ask. Now you
need to get going to change. OH, please check with the nurses station that
they have everything of mine, my wallet and all my jewelry, please. Go
check on that right now please and let me know. I know it is insured, but I
would be sick if my diamond and sapphire pendant and my diamond wedding
ring were gone. They are special baby since you gave them to me for our
wedding!"

Tommy walked out to the nurses station and asked for Robbie's personal
effects. The head nurse said they were in the safe at the Administrator's
office, for safe keeping. Here is the list of items. 1 Gucci wallet, with
credit cards. Two Visa, 1 Black AMX, $327 in cash and some coins.  Also,
there is a diamond and sapphire pendant, 1 wedding ring with 6 diamonds in
gold and 1 pair of diamond cufflinks in gold. 1 Presidential gold and
diamond Rolex watch. 1 large square diamond ring in gold. The office is
closed for the night and you can retrieve them in the morning to take them
home. Tommy smiled and thanked the nurse for the information.

He walked back to Robbie's suite and showed him the list and said he would
collect them in the morning since the office was closed for the
night. "Darling, thank you for being you and for loving this old battered
person!"

Tommy leaned over and gently kissed the man he loved and adored more than
life. "I love you with my soul and all of my heart baby. I'll leave now as
I need to get ready for the party and represent us. The Rents will be
there. You know I was thinking, I am pretty well dressed and I am just
going to go to the party like this. I think I look OK and after what we
have been through today, if they don't like it, FUCK them all. They kissed
once more and as he exited the room, he turned once more and looked at the
love of his life. He had so much to be thankful for. As he walked out of
the door, he smiled, `Robbie was alive and going to be fine.'

Everyone had left the hospital and he was going to jump in a cab and get to
the party. It was already 7:30 and the party started at 7:00 He was already
late. He would get there. The cab pulled up in front of the restaurant. He
paid the cab driver and walked into the restaurant. He was greeted by the
Ma"tre' D, Pierre. "Tommy, how is Robbie, we have been very worried!

Tommy was tired but answered calmly, "He is pretty banged up with a broken
arm and sprained ankle and some cuts and lots of bruising, but he will be
fine, thanks for asking!" He moved into the main dining room and was
swarmed with people. He stood in the middle of the room and asked for
everyone's attention please. Both sets of parent's joined him at his side.

"Late this afternoon, Robbie was involved in a really bad car
accident. Someone ran a red light and ran into the passenger side of the
car, basically totaling it. He is pretty banged up, he has a broken left
arm, but just a cast and no surgery. He has a badly sprained right ankle
and has some cuts and bruises, but he will be fine in a couple of weeks. We
both thank you for your concern and you well wishes. He would want everyone
to have a good time. There will be another larger party in two weeks, where
we will have a group flying down from our restaurants up north. It will be
black-tie. Please join us. You all will receive formal invitations this
week. Now will somebody please get me a drink and make it a double!!"
Everyone applauded and many greeted Tommy as he sat and tried to relax.

The food was passed and everyone seemed to be having a good time. Elsa and
Daryl came over and asked if he needed anything? He looked up and saw the
love and care in their eyes. "Just for my husband to be well and not be in
pain!!!" Elsa went and got Tommy a plate of food and his mother sat next to
him, assuring, "He will be fine son and he has all of us. You want us to
stay for a few days?"

"No Mom. Thanks for the offer, but there is nothing you can really do and
now that I have made an appearance, I think I will bid everyone a good
night and go home and collapse. If you're ready to leave I could use a ride
if you don't mind. Daniella raised her hand and Thom came over and asked of
everything was OK?. "Tommy wants to go home now, as you can see he is
exhausted. we are giving him a ride back to the house."

Tommy stood and said good night to everyone and hoped everyone was having a
good time!!  They exited the restaurant and climbed into the limo that was
waiting out front. Tommy all but collapsed into the seat and the driver
prepared to whisk them back to the house. A policeman approached the limo
before they could depart and told Tommy he was at the scene of the accident
and that they needed to discuss a few things.

"Sargent Clark, thanks for your help today. Robbie will be fine but will be
there anywhere from 2-4 days. He is very tired and very sore and I am
totally wiped out. My dear husband is laid up in pain and there is nothing
I can do for him right now. Can we meet say tomorrow morning at the
hospital say 10 AM and we can over everything then? Please, I am dead on my
feet, so to speak!! Thank you for your understanding." The men shook hands
and said goodnight to the Sargent. The family drove home and Tommy took off
his clothes and fell into bed, alone and totally exhausted.

Well gang, here ends Chapter 42. I hope everyone liked the little twist I
added. What is the meeting with Sargent going to reveal and how soon will
Robbi get out of the hospital? So many questions. They will all be
revealed, so please stay tuned. I sincerely hope everyone had a happy and
safe New Year's. Allen and I were very quiet and I think I went to bed
about 10:30 after a lovely gourmet steak dinner, on good china and grand
glass of great fizzy water with a hint of lemon. (I gave up drinking liquor
about 3 years ago. my choice.) LOL,
