Chapter Thirty-Five

Our future flashed before my eyes as I stood there watching events unfold. With my hands at the side of my head I yelled, 'Noooooo,' into the warm, clear morning. Someone else close by screamed and there were other cries of anguish as we all had visions of a devastating outcome.

But then, what seemed like a miracle took place. Suddenly the brake lights on his bike came on and Raffa skewed his body and the machine sideways. His right foot dropped to the concrete ramp while his hands still grasped the handlebars, and somehow, unbelievably, he came to a stop, side on and just feet from the heavy chain that had been slung across the top end of the ramp.

Holding the bike half up, with his left leg still across the seat, he looked back in my direction and shook his head. Fuck, that was a close one. And everyone watching knew it.

A few moments later Raffa sat back on his bike, then turned the front tyre before letting it coast back down the ramp, coming to a stop right beside me. Holding out a hand towards me I could see it was shaking.

I wanted to hug him so bad. I also wanted to cry, but given everything that has happened recently, coupled with the fact there were workmates who were coming our way, my initial reaction was that I shouldn't react at all. But then as Raffa pushed up the visor on his helmet and looked at me, his beautiful eyes showing fear and relief and any number of emotions, I just couldn't help myself, I reached out and hugged him to me, wanting him to know that I was feeling everything that he had felt and that I was here for him.

Somewhere behind me I heard someone snigger, then someone else said, 'Christ, can't you just give them a moment, guys?'

I let go of Raffa and turned to see who was there. I figured that the guy standing closest to us, whose name I couldn't recall, was the one who had just told everyone to give us a moment. He had been one of those who had given me support at one point, following one of the incidents I'd had with another staff member.

'That was a close one,' he said to us. 'Shopping centre management must have finally gotten fed up with the hoons using the car park as a drag strip and burn-out pad. You guys okay?'

'A bit shaken,' Raffa replied. 'Just lucky I spotted a flash of light with the sign swinging in the breeze and reflecting some sunlight or something.'

'I hate to think what might have happened if you hadn't seen it,' I said.

There were a few murmurs from our other workmates, but soon they started drifting off to go and sign in and start their day. No disaster to report, but there would certainly be enough chatter to fill everybody's day with gossip.

Raffa and I needed to do the same thing, as well as report the incident to personnel, just so they knew what had happened. There were also other cars entering the car park and we were holding some of them up, so Raffa pushed his bike into a nearby parking space and then I pulled my car in beside it before we followed the crowd towards the store entrance and the start of our working day.

When we reached the store, we found that most of our fellow workers were all standing around the front Service Desk counter, apparently at the request of Mrs Mack, who was telling us all that we would be opening a few minutes later this morning. Mr Webster would be talking to us all about changes to the staff parking policy, as the upper-level parking area would now be remaining closed until nine a.m. each day.

By the time we had signed on for the day and then returned to the Service Desk, word of Raffa's close escape had soon spread amongst our co-workers. At this time Mr Webster came back in through the staff entry door, after having visited the shopping centre management's offices, and asked us to gather around.

'Good morning, everyone,' he began. 'No doubt you are aware of the change in circumstances regarding the use of the parking area upstairs. I have just been discussing this issue with centre management and they have advised the reasons for the change in the hours when the car park will be open is due to unauthorised use and damage caused by hooligans with their vehicles.

'It is unfortunate that we weren't notified of this earlier, as this may have helped with avoiding a close call this morning for at least one of you, the result of which could have been quite catastrophic.'

He looked directly at Raffa and me as he said this, his face filled with concern.

'I have been advised that a boom gate of some sort will be installed to block access to the top parking level. So please, until further notice, you are advised that all staff parking will be on the lower levels and in the section closest to the entrance off the street, so that customers will not be inconvenienced. Now, if everyone could move to their work areas and assist in opening the store, that would be appreciated. Thank you.'

As the gathering started to break up Mr Webster motioned for Raffa to stay and soon came over to us.

'I heard what happened,' he said. 'Are you okay, Rafael. Did you hit the barricade? Or was any damage done?'

'No, sir. Just a bit shaken. I was lucky to see the chain just in time.'

'Damned irresponsible of the shopping centre management to do that,' Webster added. 'Especially given that there was no notification that they were going to do so. I'm just glad you managed to avoid it.'

'So am I, sir,' Raffa replied.

With a wry smile he dismissed us and we headed back down the main aisle of the store towards our work stations.

'Lunch time?' Raffa said to me when we reached the spot where we needed to go our different ways.

'As if you even need to ask,' I replied, as I held out my fist for him, which he duly bumped.

'See you at the front doors.'

‘Unless I see you earlier.’

When I reached the loading dock the bell was already ringing, so I quickly punched the button to raise the doors, then my workday began.

Nothing startling happened for the remainder of the morning, just delivery after delivery and quite a bit of chatter going on between staff members, which wasn't really a surprise.

There was no word about how long Mike might be away, but I thought I might have heard from him at some point, so I decided to send him a text message. It wasn't my first to him while he has been away, and I didn't really have any expectation of receiving a reply, but I thought it would have been nice if he had at least acknowledged my message. Though maybe I was expecting too much.

Mrs Mack came to see me to let me know she had arranged for some extra help for me for the week, with Hoppy coming in mid-morning and some other casuals apparently rostered to help on other days. I was grateful that at least I wouldn't have to be doing it all on my own.

Following a busy morning I left Hoppy to look after the loading dock and met up with Raffa at lunch time. We picked up something to eat and then headed for a nearby park where we enjoyed the sunshine and could talk without anyone else bothering us, with the topic of conversation today largely revolving around the events of this morning.

'Webster came to see me and said that he was pretty pissed off with the shopping centre management over what happened. They didn't tell anyone what their plans were.'

'Bloody typical,' I replied.

'He said that they would have been screwed if I'd have actually had an accident and had been hurt.'

'And wouldn't they have known it if you had have been hurt! The fuss that we would have kicked up would have been heard everywhere!'

'Awww . . .'

'I'm serious. There's no accounting for what I might do if you got hurt, or if I lost you. You mean the world to me now that I've finally found you and I don't know what I would do if I lost you like that.'

'Well, let's hope we never have to find that out,' Raffa replied, as he slid a little closer to me and placed a hand on my thigh, giving me a gentle squeeze.

We were sitting on a park bench facing the fountain in the middle or the park as we ate our lunch and watched the world stroll by. It is surprising the number of people who do this when the weather is fine.

I looked down at his hand, then back up at his face.

'What are you trying to do?' I hoarsely whispered. 'Because if you keep that up there might be consequences.'

'Think I can't handle them? The consequences, I mean.'

'Oh, I know you can handle things just fine . . . just not out here, you know, in the open.'

'So how about we head for the rest rooms then? I could do with a piss, and it's not like we haven't still got time before we're due back at work.'

'You're fucking crazy. You know that don't you?'

'Just crazy about you, babe. And remember, I missed out on some of you last night, so I'm pining for you now.'

I looked at him and grinned.

'You're incorrigible,' I said to him.

'I'm not sure I know what that means. But I am as horny as fuck, if that's of any help?'

'And what do you expect me to do about that?'

'Babe, you don't have to do anything but lean back and enjoy it.'

'Well, in that case, who am I to argue. It's the best offer I've had all day!'

'I would hope it's the only offer you've had all day.'

'Of course it is. Come on, I'll race you to the rest rooms . . . at a walk, of course.'

'Of course.'

We got to our feet, and I tossed our rubbish into a nearby garbage bin, then we leisurely strolled the fifty metres or so to the old brick toilet block, which was located on the far side of the fountain. I couldn't know about how Raffa was feeling, but my heart was racing and my dick was stretching my pants at the thought of what might soon come. This was the most outrageous and risky thing I had ever contemplated doing in public. I must have been nuts. But there was no way I was backing out now.

Furtive glances passed between the two of us as we kept up the charade of our race to the toilets and before long we were entering the cool, dark building, but not before I glance quickly around to see if anyone had noticed us. Once inside I was pleasantly surprised by the scent of flowers, obviously from the air fresheners or urinal cakes or whatever they used.

Raffa quickly checked the cubicles to make sure we were alone, then ushered me into the end cubicle.

'This is fucking insane,' I whispered.

'You'll be thanking me soon enough,' he replied, and I knew he was right, of course.

Shutting the door to lock us in he then turned to face me, placing one hand over the throbbing bulge in my pants and giving me a quick rub, while his other hand reached around the back of my neck and pulled my head towards his. As he kissed me, I felt him also fumbling with my belt and zipper.

This really was insane. But there was no way I wanted him to stop now.

'What if someone comes in?' I whispered once we had broken off the kiss.

'Have you ever done anything like this?'

'Never!'

'Okay, how about you step back into that corner. That way if anyone does come in and looks under the wall I can block their view of your feet with mine, so they'll only think there is one person in here.'

I did as he asked, then he sat down on the seat. I quickly realised what he meant by his being able to block anyone seeing there were two people in the cubicle. Once I was standing where he wanted me, he twisted on the seat and reached for my belt, quickly undoing that and the zipper of my pants, then allowing my pants to fall to my knees.

Looking up at me and grinning, he hooked his fingers into the waistband of my jocks, then pulled these down also, allowing my now rock hard and dripping penis to spring free.

'How am I doing so far?' he whispered.

'Just fucking get on with it!' I hissed.

He chuckled, then dove down on my cock, going to town bobbing up and down on it, licking it, spreading his saliva around, using his hands and his mouth in unison as he drove me wild. My entire body was trembling at his touch, so much so that I had to place my hands on his shoulders to steady myself.

Within a minute I could feel those now familiar feelings building deep within me, only this time the intensity seemed way off the charts. Pretty soon I found myself standing on tiptoes, my fingers on Raffa's shoulders as I tried balancing myself, before I delivered my load to his hungry mouth in the briefest, yet most powerful orgasm of my life, accompanied by strangled grunts of, 'Ugh' and 'Arrgghh.'

After I had cum and he had swallowed everything I had to offer, still he suckled on me, wanting more. In the end I had to push him off me, due to my cock becoming so sensitive it hurt, even if in a good way. I collapsed back against the wall, breathing hard, sweat streaming down my face, and still shaking from our exertions.

'Holy fuck!' was all I could say, as I tried catching my breath.

He grinned up at me, before then getting to his feet and pulling me to him for a wet, sloppy kiss. I could taste my lingering essence on his tongue. I could feel the silky remainder of my juices in his mouth.

'I did good, yes?' he enquired once our lips had parted.

'You did very good,' I hoarsely replied, resting my forehead against his.

After cleaning myself up and zipping up, we left the cubicle, extremely thankful that nobody had interrupted our little dalliance, then after washing hands and faces we ventured back out into the afternoon, before seconds later a man about twice our age passed us as he hurried inside the toilets.

Raffa and I looked at each other, then both started laughing. Man, that was a close call.

It was only about a five-minute walk back to the store and we had plenty of time up our sleeve, so we took our time reaching the intersection and the traffic crossing we needed to navigate, by checking out a few of the sculptures that were scattered along the footpaths through the park.

There were some oddball looking creations here, difficult to determine exactly what they were supposed to be, but still people stopped to look at them, and at least their creators would have been happy to be have been able to sell them to the local council for them to go on display. Both Raffa and I could only shake our heads at this so-called art, before we continued on our way.

A few minutes later we came to the traffic crossing at the intersection closest to our store and waited for the lights to change so we could cross over. Once that happened, we started to cross, but just then a car came speeding towards the intersection, the driver slamming the brakes on just as we readied ourselves to jump out of the way.

Once he had stopped, the driver revved the motor a few times as we continued to cross in front of him. Initially I hadn't taken much notice of him, but when I glanced that way and took a closer look there seemed to be something familiar about the guy who was behind the wheel, leering back at Raffa and me.

Instinctively I stopped, grabbing Raffa's arm as I did so.

'What the . . .' he began to say, before noticing me staring at the driver and then looking that way himself.

The driver’s window was down and as we took a few more steps, to get off the traffic crossing and out of his way, we got a much better view.

'Hmmm . . . fresh meat!' the guy said to us, licking his lips as he did so, until the lights changed. Then he planted his foot and sped off through the intersection.

There was no mistaking who it was. Animal was back in town.

To be continued . . .
