Date: Thu, 8 Oct 2015 08:44:27 +0100 From: Adam Stewart Subject: The Family The Family By Adam Stewart 1. As usual Robin woke first and looked at his lover lying beside him. They'd known each other for thirteen years and his love for Dan had grown with each passing year from that first day he saw him walk into his classroom at school when he was twelve. It was the start of a new school year and Dan's parents had recently moved to Clapham in south London. They were both the same age and their birthdays were within two weeks of each other. As Dan walked in, other boys giggled at his effeminate mannerisms but Robin knew then that he would make him his special friend. Other boys called Dan a poof and tried to bully him but Robin always protected him. The bullies soon realised that if they messed with Dan they had Robin to deal with and were likely to get a bloody nose. Robin was strong like his dad and his ginger hair gave him an air of toughness. Dan, who had a small frame and dark hair, loved him so kept by his side at all times. They became the best of friends and soon realised they loved each other. By thirteen they'd confessed their love for each other having both said they much preferred boys to girls. It was 1960 so homosexuality was still illegal although that was to change in 1967. His mother had become pregnant at age fifteen so married Robin's father at age sixteen. Robin was born in the December of 1947. His father was only seventeen and loved women so took advantage whenever one showed interest him. He was a charmer as well as good looking and when he met Robin's mother with her bright ginger hair, he couldn't resist her. He was highly sexed so even after their marriage he continued to chat up women and if one showed interest he'd have his way. Robin loved his mum and dad and he could still remember his mother telling him when he was about eight that despite his father `dipping his stick in other women' he loved her and his son. Not that his mother was much better since she loved chatting up the men but as far as Robin knew, that was all she did. It wasn't until he reached puberty and understood more about sex that he realised what his mother had meant about his father `dipping his stick in'. Sadly it was his father's sexual drive that was the end of him. One day in the local pub he was involved in a brawl with a guy who accused him of messing with his woman. Whether it was true nobody knew but Robin's father was known for his sexual prowess. The guy pulled a knife and Robin's father died from fatal wounds. Robin was fourteen at the time and was heartbroken. It was Dan who consoled him and hugged him tight whilst lying in Robin's bed. Dan's parents were deeply religious so Dan knew they'd not approve of his close friendship with Robin. In fact they'd only met Robin once and he found Dan's parents overbearing. Dan hated them so spent most of his time with Robin since his family welcomed him. Robin also had a sister and she too welcomed Dan into the family. Rebecca was a year younger than Robin and by the age of nineteen had married Terry. Neither Rebecca nor Terry had any problems with Robin and Dan's love for each other. Robin's mother was also devastated by her husband's death but her way of dealing with it was to meet other men. Over the next year Robin and Rebecca got used to different men spending the night with their mum but they took it in their stride. It was quite usual to see semi naked men walking round the house or sounds of sex coming from their mother's bedroom. Whenever he could, Dan would also sleep over with Robin and they shared his single bed hugging each other close. "My parents would have a fit if they knew what went on in this house" Dan used to giggle. One day Robin's mother announced she was pregnant. The father was a guy called Len who was always very nice to Rebecca and Robin so when she announced she and Len were to be married at the local Registry Office, they were happy. Len was a market stall holder where Robin's dad had been. Robin's family had never been particularly well off but dad had always made sure there was food on the table and clothes on their backs plus a few extras to make life worth living. Len was the same so when he moved in to take their father's place, Rebecca and Robin were more than happy. Len also liked Dan and called his parents `fucking bible bashers' which always amused Dan and made him feel even more at home. Jake was born in 1962 and loved Robin and Dan because they spent hours playing with him and made him giggle. They loved Jake and never minded how often he badgered them to do things with him as he got older. Both Robin and Dan did reasonably well at school so when they left at age sixteen they decided to do a business studies course at the local technical college. Neither were university material and neither were interested in such an exalted education so both were happy with the local Tech. Besides, it meant they could continue being together which meant everything to them. By now they knew they were `gay' even though they couldn't make that public knowledge although Robin's mother had realised but said nothing. Even Len had suspicions but he believed in letting people live whatever life they wanted so he wasn't bothered. They loved college and Dan now lived permanently with Robin because his parents had moved yet again to an area which they felt was more upmarket. Robin's house was more convenient for the college which was the excuse he used when he informed his parents. As usual they had a massive argument about it but Dan held firm telling them he was leaving home and that was that. He often wished he'd had a sibling to support him during those difficult times but he knew he had a family at Robin's household who loved him. Even though they had to share a single bed because Robin's room wasn't big enough for anything larger, they managed to have plenty of sex whilst Robin's mother and Len had it away down the corridor. They soon found out they were both versatile so took it in turns to fuck one another or suck each other off Not wanting to miss out, Rebecca had her fair share of boyfriends who were more than happy to have their wicked way with her but somehow she never became pregnant. Then Terry came on the scene and she suddenly realised a baby was on the way but by the time little Terence was born in 1968 they were married. Whilst at college Robin and Dan met other guys of the same persuasion and found places to have sex. They often frequented `cottages' where guys were up for it. On one particular day whilst standing at the urinal, a guy in his mid thirties made himself known. Seeing two sexy seventeen year-olds he invited them to go back to his place which was not far away. They spent a very pleasant few hours letting him fuck them senseless. After that they met regularly and they became good friends. After one such session Robert asked "Would you guys like to spend a weekend with me; I've got a cottage near Haslemere in Surrey". Robin and Dan thought about it and finally agreed. They knew Robert well by now so felt safe enough with him and they certainly loved having sex with him since he had a long thick cock which he used to great effect. The summer break was soon to commence so it was agreed they'd tell Robin's mum they were going away together for a long weekend. She never worried about them so didn't query where they were going. They met Robert at his flat and he drove them to his cottage near Haslemere which was less than two hours away. In fact it was outside the town right in the country. "We can do what we like here without anybody bothering us" he chuckled as he drove the car off the road and parked it outside the front door. The cottage had once belonged to a local farm and was situated on its own. If the weather was nice, which it was that weekend, they could roam around naked inside and out without a care in the world. Robert loved sex, especially with young guys like these two so he looked forward to a great weekend. Once inside he told them to dump their bags and immediately stripped off. Robin and Dan grinned at each other and followed suit. Soon three naked bodies were having fun and since the sun was shining they sat in the garden in the buff having lunch before having sex on the grass. He got both of them to go on all fours whilst he stuffed his big cock into each of them. First he'd fuck Robin and then move over to Dan before going back to Robin. He continued this until he was aching to spill his load. He first filled Robin and then quickly moved over to Dan to finish off. He'd always dreamt of doing this so his dream had finally come true. They spent a wonderful time together and even though Robin and Dan each went home with a sore arse, they'd loved it. By the time they'd completed their business management studies at the Tech, they'd decided they wanted to go into the insurance broking business. By pure chance they found a firm in Brixton advertising for apprentices so they both applied and were successful. Yet again they were together so at age twenty rented a small flat in Brixton and spent the next three years gaining experience. At twenty three, they decided they'd had enough of working for someone else so decided to set up on their own. They bought a flat in Clapham not far from Robin's family home and converted what would normally have been the dining room into an office. The business was soon established and within two years it was doing well. They were now twenty five and enjoying life. Even though a same sex couple still caused people to comment, homosexuality was now legal so they put two fingers up to those who disapproved and got on with life. When Dan woke up he felt a hand holding his morning erection. "Mm morning my love, that feels nice" he said sleepily. "Morning sleepy head; happy anniversary" Dan opened his eyes and grinned at his lover. They'd celebrated this date in September since they'd first met. "And what's my present going to be?" he grinned knowing what Robin always did whenever he woke up. "Turn over and you'll find out" Robin giggled. Dan quickly did so and waited with excited anticipation. Soon he felt Robin's large well lubricated cock breach him and slowly fill him up. "Fuck, that feels so good" he gasped. He never tired of feeling his lover's big cock inside him and this morning was no exception. Robin slowly thrust gradually increasing the pace. As he did so he reached round to hold Dan's excited organ and massaged it in unison with each fuck. "Oh fuck" Dan cried out as he felt his climax rise and eventually filled Robin's hand with his morning cum. "Ah" he heard Robin sigh noisily as ribbons of his creamy cum filled him up. When they were both done they relaxed in each other's arms with Robin still inside Dan and him holding Dan's cock which always remained hard until they eventually got up to shower together. On moving into their house, they'd installed a double shower so they could enjoy a shower together so not a morning went by when they didn't do just that. Once showered and dressed, they made their way downstairs for breakfast. Both had bought cards saying how much they loved each other and wishing each a happy anniversary. They always bought each other a simple present just to show how much they loved one another and today was no exception. "Well, I presume we'd better get to work" Dan groaned rather hoping that Robin would agree to them having a day off work but he knew they had plenty to do and although it was great having the freedom to do what hours they wanted, they knew clients expected a good service. "I'm afraid so" Robin chuckled and gave Dan a wet kiss on the lips "but tonight we're going out for a slap-up meal to celebrate." Unbeknown to them when they sat down to work, their celebratory meal would not take place that evening. 2. It was just after two that afternoon when the doorbell rang. Robin glanced out the window and saw a police car parked outside their house. "What the hell do they want?" "Perhaps they've come to arrest two poofs" Dan giggled as Robin went to open the front door. As soon as he'd opened it, Jake came rushing in and wrapped his arms round Robin's legs. Jake frequently spent time with Robin and Dan and he loved them. "Hello Jake, what you doing here?" Robin looked at the police officers standing there with an enquiring look. "Are you Robin Baker?" the male officer asked. "Yeah, that's me" "And I believe this is Jake Turner your half brother." "Yeah, what's going on?" "Do you think we could come in for a moment?" Robin stepped back with Jake still clinging onto his legs as the two officers walked in. The female officer gave him a weak smile as she walked by and gently patted Jake's head. "What's going on?" Dan asked having appeared from the office. "And you are sir?" Dan didn't answer the question still wondering what was happening, especially when he saw Jake still clinging to Robin's legs. "This is Dan Fuller my partner; we're also business partners and work from home" Robin replied and then added "We run our own insurance broking business" as if that was an important fact to add. Dan invited the officers into the living room at the back of the house and Robin followed holding Jake's hand. Before the officers sat down, the male officer said "We've got some bad news I'm afraid; would you like my colleague to look after Jake whilst we speak to you?" Robin looked down at Jake who was gripping his hand as if his life depended on it. Jake was old enough to know something was wrong and didn't want to leave the guy he felt safe with so wrapped his arms round Robin's legs again. "I think he's best staying with me; he's old enough to know what's going on and our family have never hidden anything from him, but thanks." Dan invited both officers to sit down and Robin and Dan sat on the sofa with Jake standing between Robin's legs. Robin put his arm round Jake and held him tight having sensed some terrible news was about to be told. "I'm Val" the WPC said, "Jake clearly feels safe with you" she added with a smile. "I'm PC Thomas" the other officer said before continuing. He then explained that Kathy Turner and her husband Len Turner had been caught up in a shooting incident at the market where Len had his stall. It seemed a gang had been involved in a smash and grab at a jewellers and when some of the market stall holders tried to block their escape one of the gang started shooting indiscriminately. "Unfortunately Jake's parents were in the line of fire purely by chance." Robin went white knowing what was to come next. The officer told them they'd both died on the way to the hospital having lost a lot of blood. Dan immediately put his arm round Robin and he automatically tightened his arm round Jake. Robin had now lost his mother and Jake had lost both his parents. "Oh my god" Robin finally replied once the news had sunk in. "Did they suffer do you think?" "According to the ambulance men they were both unconscious when they arrived" Val replied. Jake then looked up at Robin having processed the information. "Is mummy not coming back?" Robin held him tight and lightly kissed his head. "I'm afraid not my love and neither is your daddy." Jake just nodded as he absorbed that information but said nothing. Robin now had tears in his eyes as did Dan because he'd loved both Kathy and Len as they'd both included him in their family. Dan took hold of Jake's hand and held it tight. Jake gave him a weak smile but he had no tears. He was still trying to work it all out in his mind. Val looked at the three of them and realised how much they loved each other. She found it a touching sight and was more than satisfied that Jake was in good hands. "Are you able to look after Jake for the time being?" she asked. "Yes of course" Robin replied, "We're a close family and Jake knows us well." Jake looked at Val as if to confirm what Robin had said. "I just need to go through one or two other things" the PC said and looked at Jake as if to say it would be better if he wasn't here. Dan picked up on it and immediately stood up. "Come on Jake; let's get you something to drink and a chocolate biscuit." Val gave both Dan and Jake a smile as they disappeared from the room. Once gone, the PC went through the formalities of what happened next and explained that a post mortem would have to take place. Robin said he was well used to the procedure having gone through it with his mother when his father had been killed. Val gasped having not realised that. "He was knifed in a pub brawl eleven years ago" Dan explained. "I'm so sorry" she replied. "Was Len one of those who tried to stop the robbers?" Robin asked. The officer said from what information he had so far, he wasn't but had been in the line of fire so was in the wrong place at the wrong time. Robin nodded and assumed his mother had been helping out on the stall as she so often did. She'd loved working on the stall and had done the same for his father. "I still can't believe it" he wailed as more tears fell down his face. "And you're quite sure you can look after young Jake or perhaps you have someone else who can" the officer said. "Of course we can" Robin replied indignantly, "Just because we're gay doesn't mean we can't look after him; besides we've been part of his life throughout his ten years and often visits us and even stays here when his mum and dad have been out late." "I can see he loves you both very much and I'm sure you're both more than capable of looking after him" Val intervened and gave her colleague a dirty look. The officer stood up and said they'd go, leaving Robin sitting there still trying to come to terms with it all. Val moved over to him and placed a hand on his shoulder saying if there was anything they needed to know to contact her at the police station. Robin looked up and nodded. He liked Val and felt she was genuinely concerned about them whereas the other officer was just doing what he had to do as part of his daily job. On their way out, Val popped her head into the kitchen and said goodbye to Jake who was now tucking into his chocolate biscuit and orange juice. She acknowledged Dan who was standing by him watching every move in case he needed support. When the officers had gone, Dan and Jake returned to the living room. Robin looked up and the tears poured down his face. "Why, oh why" he wailed. Dan sat beside him and wrapped him in his arms as Jake pushed between his legs to wrap his arms round Robin's waist and rest his ginger head against Robin's chest. Dan felt his tears running down his face but he didn't care. He looked at Jake and caressed his head. "What's going to happen to me now?" Jake asked, "Will you look after me?" "Would you like that Jake?" Dan asked. Jake nodded and pulled Dan and Jake into a hug as best he could with his short arms. "Yes; I love you and Robin." "And we love you too Jake" Robin managed to say between his tears. Jake then cried so for the next few minutes they hugged each other and let their tears flow without saying a word. "I loved them so much" Dan said, "They were as much my parents as they were yours and Jake's; why is life so unfair?" "I don't know my love" Robin said and kissed his lover on the lips as Jake looked on. Jake knew Robin and Dan loved each other and as far as he was concerned there was nothing unusual about that. He'd seen his mummy and daddy kiss and love each other so it was just the natural thing to do. "I'd better call Rebecca" Robin suddenly said. Rebecca and Terry with their son Terence who was now four, had moved to Bethnal Green soon after they'd married because Terry was from there and felt more at home in the east end of London. They rented a small flat and Terry was a shop assistant at a local store. Whilst Dan looked after Jake, Robin called Rebecca. When she heard the news she was shocked and devastated as much as Robin. She asked what was happening to Jake and was relieved when Robin said they'd look after him because their flat was far too small to accommodate another child apart from the fact she found looking after Terence was all she could cope with. She knew Jake loved her brother and Dan so it was fine by her. She and Terry had no hang-ups over Robin and Dan being gay and was behind them in every way. "Thanks" she replied and asked if she needed to come over. Robin saw little point for the moment until he and Dan had sorted things out but said he'd remain in contact. "Is she okay? Dan asked as soon as Robin reappeared. Robin nodded. "You will be my mummy and daddy won't you" Jake suddenly blurted out. "Of course" Robin replied and took Jake into his arms. "Well, we can't be your mummy can we but we can be your daddy so you'll have two daddies to look after you." Jake looked up at Robin and smiled. "I know you're my half brother really but what I mean is will you and Dan act as my daddy?" "Yes we will Jake" Dan replied and gave Jake a kiss on his head. "So I'll live here" Jake said thoughtfully. "Yes; we'll make the room you've used before, your bedroom; in fact we'll collect all your things from mummy and daddy's house so you've got everything round you." Jake smiled and liked that idea. "Perhaps we should go round now and collect some things" Dan commented. Robin agreed so they put their shoes and coats on and went outside. Dan suggested they use the car even though it was just two streets away but they'd have suitcases to bring back. Jake jumped into the back of the car that was parked outside whilst Dan and Robin sat in the front. "Are you okay my love?" Dan asked as he started the car. Robin nodded. "Are you?" Dan nodded and patted his lover's leg as he drove off. When they reached the house they saw several reporters with cameras milling around. "What the hell" Robin exclaimed. As soon as they pulled up outside the house and climbed out, the reporters and cameramen crowded round them. Robin immediately held Jake close in front of him trying to shield him from the media frenzy. "Are you relatives of Mr and Mrs Turner?" they asked. Robin nodded. Suddenly a woman pushed her way through. "Hi Vicky, what's going on?" Robin asked. "This lot arrived about half an hour ago; is it true, have Kathy and Len been shot?" Robin nodded. "If you could give an interview" a reporter intervened, "I can persuade these others to leave you guys alone". Robin nodded again so Vicky said she'd take charge of Jake whilst Dan and Robin were interviewed. Robin squatted down and spoke to Jake telling him he and Dan would be with him in a few minutes and asked him to go with Vicky. Jake knew Vicky and took her hand. Once she'd taken him up the path and stood by the front door, the reporter asked the pair of them questions. He explained he was from the BBC and the others were reporters from local newspapers. They'd heard from police sources about the shooting and that two people had been shot dead. Somehow they'd been given information by the local police as to who those two were and where they lived but the source was never divulged. As the questions were fired at him, Robin explained that it was his mother and step father who'd been shot and that his own father had died several years before. "So the young fellow you came with is your half brother?" Robin nodded and said Jake was ten years old. "And you sir, are you a member of the family?" the reporter asked Dan. Dan looked at Robin and then at the film cameras that were rolling. Although he and Robin had never tried to hide their sexuality or their relationship it wasn't something they'd shouted from the rooftops. In a split moment he decided how to answer the question. "Robin and I are same sex partners and his family have always made me feel very welcome and a part of their family which is more than I can say for mine so like Robin I'm devastated about the loss of Jake's parents." Robin looked at Dan and felt proud of him knowing what the consequences of his announcement could be to him. The cameras flashed away as he spoke. "And what about Jake, what's going to happen to him now?" "He'll be well looked after by members of the family" Robin replied as he moved Dan towards the garden gate. The reporter thanked them and the others left as quickly as they'd appeared. "It's such terrible news" Vicky said as they reclaimed Jake who'd stood and watched the media circus take place. "They were both such lovely people and so kind". Dan thanked Vicky and Robin unlocked the front door. Fortunately he'd still got the key from when he lived at home. The three walked into the empty house and closed the door. For a brief moment Robin expected to see or hear his mum call out `hello darling' from the kitchen but it was only silence that met them. Robin pulled Dan into his arms and kissed him. "That was a brave thing to do; I hope you don't live to regret it but I was very proud of you." Dan thanked him and said he was fed up with hiding from his parents who he really was and his feelings so decided it was time they found out, albeit publicly. He then chuckled, "What you might call letting the shit hit the fan; that's assuming they read the reports." "Oh don't worry my love; you can guarantee that will be headline news and probably on the BBC news at six." "Oh well, we've got fame at last" he giggled and pulled Robin and Jake into a hug. "It's just us three now so we've got to look after each other." Even though Rebecca and Terry loved all of them they led their own life and didn't really want to be that involved with the rest of her family. Whilst Robin went round the house to make sure everything was switched off and emptied the fridge of food items, Dan found a suitcase under the stairs in the hallway and took Jake up to his room to pack his things. He packed the items Jake wanted to take with him, which was more or less everything including the posters on his wall. His most important items were Teddy and Rupert Bear he had in bed each night. He knew he was probably too old for them but they were comforting. He next wanted to pack his games so Dan said he'd find a cardboard box since the case had to take his clothes. Robin meanwhile went from room to room and gathered together photos of his parents and Len so they could put them round their house as reminders. He found personal papers including a copy of Kathy and Len's will which he knew left everything to him and Rebecca in the event of both their deaths. As he searched a drawer in the living room he came across old photo albums of him as a child so he took them. Beneath one was an envelope with a large amount of cash in. He smiled to himself knowing it was probably his mum who'd put it there for a rainy day. He decided to slip it into his pocket since he and Dan would need cash for Jake's expenses and as they were to look after Jake he decided his sister could do without her share. As he packed things away he found an address book so took that as well. He then suddenly remembered his aunt Rose who lived in Somerset. She'd never been particularly friendly to Robin, even as a child and she disapproved of his dad so they had little contact with her but he decided he'd better let her know. "All packed?" he asked when Dan and Jake came downstairs laden with things. Dan nodded. "I think so; are you sure you've got everything you need Jake?" Jake nodded and moved towards the front door. "He's virtually emptied his room" Dan whispered to Robin. "At least it will make him feel more settled; you're quite sure about this?" "What, taking him in?" Dan asked taken aback. "Of course I am; he's family and I love him." "Thanks" Robin replied and held his lover tight as the tears once again flowed down his face. Jake on seeing Robin crying rushed over and put his arms round his legs as if to comfort him. Robin and Dan placed a hand on his shoulder and squeezed it affectionately. With everything packed into the car and the house securely locked up, they made their way home. Once there they unpacked everything and Dan and Robin helped Jake sort out his new bedroom having cleared the cupboard of spare clothes. They'd sort those out later so dumped them in the box room which was too small to be used as a bedroom but made an ideal space to store things. They wanted to get Jake settled in and his posters on the wall with everything how he wanted. Jake felt very grown up as he was asked how he wanted everything placed including where he wanted the bed. "Okay, now it looks more like Jake's room" Dan giggled, "In fact we'll get a sign and put it on the door." Jake giggled and hugged his two new daddies to thank them. Even though he'd lost his real mummy and daddy, he knew he was going to be well looked after by his pretend daddies. "I'm exhausted" Robin declared once downstairs. "You sit down and I'll get you a Bacardi and Coke" Dan said knowing it was Robin's favourite tipple. "Are you going to join me?" "Of course; just give me a moment." Robin kicked off his shoes, opened up his shirt and sank back on the sofa to wait for Dan. Within a few minutes he came in with their drinks and three packets of crisps. Almost as soon as Dan had kicked off his shoes and joined Robin on the sofa, a pair of noisy feet came running down the stairs to join them. "I guess we'll have to get used to that" Dan chuckled and pulled Robin into a kiss. Jake giggled as he saw his two favourite guys kissing and cuddling. He liked to see that and jumped onto them. They both hugged him and when he saw the crisps looked longingly. Dan told him there was a packet for him so quickly grabbed it and ripped it opened. He loved crisps and munched away. Suddenly he paused and looked at Robin. "Why am I your half brother Robin?" It was something that had never been discussed before and Robin could understand why Jake had asked. "We have different fathers." "Why?" Robin explained that his dad had died before Jake was born and that his mother had married Len so when he came along he had a different father to him. "But why does having a different daddy to you make me a half brother if we have the same mummy." "Do you understand how babies are made?" Dan asked. Jake shook his head and felt he should know. Dan told him to get a piece of paper and a pencil so Jake ran off to the kitchen where he knew he could find what he needed. When he came back, Dan drew a woman and a man side by side. "This is your mummy and daddy; now daddy plants one of his seeds inside your mummy and it joins with one of her seeds to form a baby which grows inside her tummy until it's time for it to be born." Jake nodded trying to understand. "How does daddy get his seed inside mummy?" Dan looked at Robin and grinned. "When you're a bit older Jake, I'll explain it to you but for the moment just accept that he does" Robin smiled. "So, after nine months the baby is born." Dan then drew a baby and a line from the mummy and the daddy to show they were a family. He then drew another daddy with another baby beneath the mummy. "The first baby is Robin and this is his daddy. The second baby is you and this is your daddy so as you see you both have the same mummy but different daddies because each planted their seed inside your mummy." He then drew a circle around all the characters and explained that was the family he was part of. Jake nodded. "Yeah, think I get it but I still don't understand how daddy gets his seed inside mummy." "When you're older you will" Robin chuckled suddenly realising the responsibility they'd taken on. When it was time for Jake to go to bed Robin said he'd take him upstairs and get him ready. Dan would come and say goodnight once he was in bed. As Robin pulled out his pyjamas, Jake pulled a face. "Do I have to wear those; I hate them; you and Dan don't wear pyjamas." Robin smiled. It was true neither he nor Dan wore anything in bed and wondered whether they might have to do so in future. "True so what do you want to wear?" "What you wear" Jake giggled knowing only too well that he'd seen Robin and Dad naked in bed when he'd stayed before. Robin thought for a moment. "Undress down to your pants and go and clean your teeth whilst I have a word with Dan." Jake grinned and quickly undressed. Robin went to find Dan and posed the question. "So, what do we do? Do we force him to wear pyjamas which he says he hates, make him wear pants knowing only too well he'll know we don't, or let him do what he wants?" Dan laughed. "I get the feeling he's going to test us a lot before we're done but I think we should let him decide. I can remember my parents forcing me to do things I didn't want and I hated them for it; I don't want him to hate us. What did you wear in bed at his age?" Robin grinned. "Nothing; I used to wear my pants when mum was around but as soon as I was on my own they came off; I'm sure mum and dad knew but never said anything." "Then that's your answer; let him decide and if he wants to sleep naked then let him do so; at least it means we can continue doing so as well." Robin kissed Dan and ran back upstairs to find Jake sitting on his bed in his pants. "Teeth all done?" "Yes, sparkling white" he giggled. "Okay; what we've decided is that you choose what you want to do." "Me?" Jake exclaimed and felt very grown up. Without saying anything he stripped off his pants, threw them on the floor and stood naked. Robin smiled but told him to always put his clothes in a neat pile on the chair. Jake dutifully did so and climbed into bed making sure his Teddy and Rupert Bear were with him. Robin sat down on the bed and hugged him tight. "Are mummy and daddy in heaven?" Robin had wondered if Jake would ask this. He explained that he and Dan didn't believe in heaven but they were still nearby even though they were not in person. "They'll always be in here" he said as he patted his chest, "so never think they've left you and forgotten you because they'll always be there and whenever you want to you can think of all the nice things you did with them. You'll never forget them Jake and they loved you a lot." "Is your daddy in here?" he asked patting his own chest. Robin nodded. "Yes, always and I frequently think about him as I will mummy." He leaned forward to give Jake a kiss on his forehead and told him he loved him a lot. "And don't forget, Dan and I will always be here for you so if you have any worries or things you want to talk about, you just tell us." Jake nodded and looked over to Dan who was standing in the doorway listening to what Robin had said. He felt tears well up in his eyes but forced them back because he knew he had to be strong for Jake as well as the guy he loved with all heart. He took Robin's place on the side of the bed and hugged Jake before giving him a goodnight kiss. "Sweet dreams and if you wake up in the night and want us you just come into our room; okay?" Jake nodded as he settled down to sleep. Once downstairs, Robin and Dan sat on the sofa and fell into each other's arms. "We'll manage my love; you're a natural father figure." Robin nodded. "Yeah, I know; the problem is that I keep thinking back to when dad died and how I felt then, and I was four years older than Jake." "He's a strong guy and will cope with our support and I'm here for both of you." Hearing that caused Robin to burst into tears; it was the first time he'd really cried since hearing the news and sank his head into Dan's shoulder. He knew he was going to miss his mum and Len so much as would Dan but somehow he knew they would get through the ordeal ahead of them. 3. "Reports have come in of a shooting in Clapham following a smash and grab raid on a jeweller. The police have said that two bystanders were shot and died on the way to hospital. The deceased have been named as Kathy and Len Turner. Their son aged ten is now being looked after by his half brother." The news item continued showing the interview with Robin in which Dan publicly described them as a same sex couple. As Dan watched he wondered whether his parents were watching. Robin took hold of his hand having sensed what he was thinking. Only time would tell. When the news had finished they went to bed. They looked in on Jake and he was sound asleep. Robin wasn't sure he'd get to sleep so easily but at least he'd have his lover beside him. Once in bed they wrapped their naked bodies round each other and held them tight. Neither were in the mood for sex but the contact felt good. "I love you so much" Robin whispered. "And I you" Dan replied, "And we've got a great kid next door who needs us." Robin nodded as the realisation sank in of how their life had changed in so few hours. Their slap-up celebration meal had been forgotten and this date would have a whole new meaning in future. When Robin woke the following morning he looked at the guy he loved slumbering away. Dan looked as beautiful and gorgeous asleep as he did when he was awake. He leant over and kissed the side of his face. "Dan grinned" as he slowly came to and felt his lover's warm body up close to his. "Have you checked in on Jake?" Robin said he too had only just woken up but would do so. It looked as if their morning love making would have to take a backseat, at least for a while until Jake had settled in. He climbed out of bed and slipped on his robe to make him decent. Not that he was bothered about Jake seeing him naked since he had done in the past when he'd stayed with them. He peered round Jake's open bedroom door and smiled. Jake was already awake and sitting up in bed reading a book. Robin walked in and for a brief moment Jake expected to see his mum before realising he'd never see her again. Jake smiled at Robin. "Okay?" Jake nodded. "Sleep okay?" He nodded again as Robin sat on the side of the bed. "This bed's much nicer than my other one" he giggled. "Can I get up now?" "Of course you can" Robin smiled. "Didn't want to disturb you just in case you were doing, you know" Jake giggled. Robin could never get used to how adult Jake was. He clearly knew from previous visits what he and Dan normally did in bed each morning before they got up. Jake sprang out of bed and sat across Robin's legs. He wrapped his arms round Robin and snuggled his head up against his chest. "It'll take time Jake but the pain will slowly disappear" Robin said gently guessing what Jake was thinking. "I'm gonna miss them so much" he whimpered. "I know; we all are but we've got to be brave and we have got each other." This caused Jake to wrap his arms round Robin's waist even tighter as if he was going to lose him too. "I need a pee" Jake suddenly said and scampered off to the bathroom. Whilst Robin waited for him to return, Dan came in and sat down beside Robin. "Is he okay?" Robin nodded and relayed what Jake had said. Dan asked what they were going to do about school that day since he was sure they would understand if Jake didn't go. Robin suggested they ask Jake what he'd like to do. In some respects getting back to his usual routine was probably better. Dan agreed as Jake came scurrying back. This time he jumped onto Dan's lap. Robin was pleased that Jake saw Dan as an equal to him because he knew having Jake living with them would put pressure on their relationship. Dan hugged Jake's naked body and marvelled at how developed he was in more ways than one. He was sure when he was Jake's age he was a scrawny individual but Jake was already showing signs of having a gorgeous body which would be even more so as he got older. He quickly put the thought out of his head knowing he shouldn't be thinking like that. "So young man" Dan smiled, "Do you want to go to school today or stay at home?" Jake thought for a moment. He'd never been asked that question before. He replied that being a Friday he had PE and English, both of which he liked so he opted to go to school much to Dan and Robin's surprise. "Quite sure" Robin said. Jake nodded so Robin said they'd better get washed and dressed. He added that he and Dan would take him to school that morning as they felt they should introduce themselves to the head teacher and explain that Jake would be living with them in future. Jake nodded and jumped off Dan's lap. Knowing his parents didn't have a shower as they much preferred a bath, Robin asked if Jake could manage the shower okay. "Could you come and help me Dan; just until I get used to it." As Jake scampered off to the bathroom to clean his teeth, Robin looked at Dan. "Sorry" he mouthed but was pleased Jake had involved Dan. "What are you sorry about?" Dan asked, "We're a family and I'm happy to share everything with you so don't feel just because he's your half brother you've got to do everything for him. I love having him here and am going to enjoy being a dad for him along with you." Robin felt tears fill his eyes and pulled Dan into a hug. "Thank you" he whispered. He knew their life from now on was going to be so different to what they'd thought it would be but having Dan by his side would make all the difference. "I'm ready" they heard a voice call out. Dan giggled and ran off to the bathroom leaving Robin to calm down and get Jake's school clothes ready plus his PE things. He wasn't sure if Jake normally did this for himself but he wanted to do so today. Having laid everything out on the bed, he went into the bathroom to find Dan and Jake in the shower together. He giggled as he watched Dan wash Jake's hair before getting him to wash his own body. Once rinsed off, Jake clambered out and Robin wrapped him in a bath towel. "You're being spoilt today but don't expect this kind of service everyday" he chuckled. Jake giggled and gave Robin and then Dan a kiss. Robin said he'd put his clothes out but expected him to do so in future as well as making his own bed. Jake nodded. He was used to doing this in any event. When he'd dried himself off and hung his towel on the rail, he left Dan and Robin to have their shower together. This was something they weren't going to stop because they enjoyed that each morning. Robin closed the bathroom door to indicate to Jake he was not to disturb them. "Are you okay?" Dan asked once they were in the shower and enjoying the warm water fall over their bodies. Robin nodded and gave Dan a hug. Dan kissed him and ran his hands up and down his lover's body. As usual it caused each of them to have a reaction despite what had happened less than twenty four hours before but it helped them get back to normality, or at least a new normality now they had a ten year old to look after. As they kissed passionately, they massaged each other's cocks until their morning load had been released. "That should help" Dan giggled once they'd both done so. They then soaped and washed each other before rinsing off and climbing out. Not bothering to put their robes back on they walked naked to their bedroom. Jake's door was wide open and he grinned as he saw two naked bodies walk by. "How about some porridge for breakfast" Dan asked. Jake nodded enthusiastically. He loved porridge, especially on cold days. The autumn weather had now set in so the air was turning colder as each day passed. Being the better cook, Dan had taken over all culinary matters leaving Robin to clear up afterwards. As Dan prepared breakfast, Jake and Robin laid the table. One of the reasons why Dan and Robin had bought this house was that it had a kitchen large enough to accommodate a table to eat at. As they were using the dining room as an office, they only used the round table at the back of the living room when they entertained. The kitchen had long ago been extended into what had once been a scullery so now provided ample space for everything including a fridge freezer and a washing machine. A backdoor on the side of the house, gave access to the garden, which although small provided outside space for them to sit in when the weather was warm enough. The garden was mainly Robin's domain and he'd re-designed it to make it mainly flowering shrubs and paving to save having to cut a lawn. Jake's school was just ten minutes walk away so once ready and Robin had again checked that Jake was sure he wanted to go in that day, they set off. Jake walked between them holding their hand with his satchel on his back. As they neared the school several boys came running up to him. They'd all heard the news and wanted to make sure he was okay. Dan and Robin were touched by their concern. A few parents also said hello and offered their sympathy. Most smiled at Robin and Dan without any judgement having seen the news item in which Dan had announced that he and Robin were same sex partners but one mother looked at them with a disapproving expression. Dan and Robin ignored her and asked Jake to take them to the head teacher's office. The school secretary said how sorry she was to hear the tragic news and asked Jake if he was okay before letting the head know they were there to see him. "Mr Blake will see you now." Robin and Dan walked into the head's office both feeling somewhat overawed since it reminded them of their school days. Jake just walked in holding his half brother's hand without any sign of concern. Mr Blake first spoke to Jake and said how sorry he was to hear the tragic news but they were all there for him and he was to speak to his class teacher if he had any worries or problems. The other guys were touched by his concern and relaxed. The secretary had been despatched to find Mr Parker, Jake's class teacher, and when he arrived he put a comforting arm round Jake's shoulder. It was clear that Jake liked Mr Parker which pleased Robin. He remembered back to his class teacher at that age and shuddered. The guy was a miserable bugger and all the children hated him. Robin told Jake he'd meet him after school but to let Mr Parker know if he felt he needed him to come earlier to collect him. Both Mr Blake and Mr Parker confirmed that should Jake feel he wanted to go home at any time he was to say so. Robin and Dan hugged and kissed Jake before Mr Parker led him away. "He seems to be holding up well" Mr Blake commented once Jake had left. Robin said he was. "It never ceases to amaze me how resilient children are in such situations" Mr Blake continued. "It's us adults who find it more difficult". He went onto to say how devastated Robin must feel about losing his mother having lost his father several years before. Quite how Mr Blake knew that, Robin was not sure but assumed he'd seen the news report the previous evening. Robin explained he and Dan were going to look after Jake and gave Mr Blake their address. He looked at the business card Robin gave him and nodded. `Baker & Fuller Limited, Insurance Brokers' he read, "I might be in touch sometime" he smiled, "I'm not convinced my current broker is providing me with the best deal." Ever the salesman, Dan quickly said they'd be delighted to quote for Mr Blake's insurance so to make contact a few weeks before his policy expired. He nodded before moving onto the issue at hand. He commented it wasn't going to be an easy task taking on the responsibility of a ten year old but was sure Robin and Dan could cope. He added that he could see the three of them were very much a family and Jake appeared settled with them already. Dan pointed out that Jake had been very much a part of their lives and they'd watched him grow up so it was only natural that he and Robin take him in. Mr Blake smiled but both Robin and Dan could sense what he was thinking. "I have no problem with same sex couples and I admire the way you've provided a loving stable home for Jake but as you well know there are some around who don't feel the same way as us so you need to be prepared for a rocky road ahead." Robin and Dan nodded saying they were both well aware of some people's views; Dan's parents being one. Mr Blake wished them every success and said the school would support them all the way as well as keeping a watchful eye on Jake to make sure he was okay. They all shook hands and the two guys thanked Mr Blake for his support. On their way out, the secretary gave them her best wishes and added that Jake was a lovely lad and very popular so she was sure he'd get through this terrible time. They walked home in silence both deep in their own thoughts. When they got home, Robin took Dan into his arms.M"You are sure about this aren't you?" "Of course I am; don't be daft; I love Jake and will love looking after him; why, are you worried?" Robin shook his head but he needed to know that the guy who was the most important person in his life was prepared for their life to change beyond recognition. Dan gave Robin a long kiss, hugging their bodies together. "I accept there will be headaches and hills to climb but together we will manage; let's face it, Jake is the most beautiful wonderful lad you could ever wish for; in fact very much like the guy I love with all my heart." Robin grinned. Dan always had a way of making him feel special irrespective of what concerns he might have or problems he'd had to face over the years. For the next hour they made a list of things they had to do which included going to the Registry Office to register both deaths. Robin certainly wasn't looking forward to that having gone with his mother just eleven years before to register his father's death. They'd just finished their lunch when the doorbell rang. They'd spent the morning making calls to people on their list who needed to be told and made an appointment with their solicitor to put matters concerning Kathy and Len's estate into motion. They'd also called the Registry office and made an appointment for the Monday morning. Dan said he'd answer the door and left Robin clearing away the lunch dishes. As soon as Dan had opened the door a woman forced her way in. He suddenly realised it was his mother who he'd not seen or spoken to for at least two years. "What the fuck" he exclaimed. Robin rushed out of the kitchen with tea towel in hand to see what was happening. "How could you? How dare you humiliate your father and me like that? And you I presume are my son's disgusting same sex partner he's told the world about. You're both disgusting." Robin stood back in shock. He'd only ever met Dan's mother the once but this woman was like a dragon breathing fire and brimstone. Even Dan was dumbfounded for a moment. "How dare you come into our house and tell us we're disgusting. You and father are the disgusting creatures I'm ashamed to be a part of. You've never shown any love towards me and you've never once tried to understand me or ask how I feel. Instead you come here and shout abuse at me and the person I love with all my heart." His outburst seemed to have little effect on his mother who continued "And this brat you had with you; who's he?" she shouted. "He's my half brother whose parents were shot down dead if you'd bothered to listen to the news report and Dan and I have taken him in and agreed to provide him with a loving home; something which you seem unable to provide." "Shut up you horrible disgusting creature; this has nothing to do with you" she shouted at Robin, "This is a family matter." Robin rushed forward and stood beside his partner with his arm round him. Dan was physically shaking. "Get out of our house; now" Robin shouted. Just as he uttered those words, the doorbell rang again. For a moment all three just looked without moving. Robin then opened the door and was relieved to see Val, the WPC standing there. She looked at Robin and Dan and then at Dan's mother. "What the hell do you want?" Dan's mother shouted. Robin turned to Val and said, "Would you mind asking this woman to leave our house; she's stormed in shouting, has been abusive to me and Dan and is basically harassing us so we'd like her to leave immediately." Val moved inside and closed the door behind her. "Madam, you've heard what Mr Baker has said so I must ask you to leave immediately" the WPC said calmly. "This has nothing to do with you so kindly leave; this is a family matter." "Mother, Robin and I do not want you here; you were not invited, you stormed in and having heard your abusive comments about us and an innocent ten year old, we never want to see or hear from you ever again and that goes for father too since I assume he's sent you; so get out now." By this time Dan was shaking and Robin was too. "Madam, I will say this once more" Val said using her officious voice, "both Mr Baker and Mr Fuller require you to leave, so please do so." "No, not until I've received an apology from my son and this disgusting man." Val immediately pulled out the handcuffs from the case on her belt and moved towards Dan's mother. "In that case I have no alternative but to arrest you on the grounds of trespass and refusing the lawful command of a police officer." Seeing the WPC meant business, Dan's mother pushed past her, opened the front door and walked out with Val following her whilst the other two looked on. Having checked she had actually left and driven off, Val returned to the house. "It seems I arrived at just the right time" she grinned. Robin and Dan agreed and moved into the kitchen to sit down. Val followed them and asked what it was all about. Dan gave her a brief synopsis of his parents and how obsessively religious they were and had made his early life hell. He explained he'd never told them he was gay or lived with Robin because he knew what their reaction would be as witnessed from his mother's outburst. "Ah, so I assume she saw your TV interview" Val chuckled. "Yeah, do you think I was wrong to do that?" Val said he had every right to tell the world the way things were and added that a colleague of hers who worked in local news said his office had been inundated with calls of support and sympathy about the tragedy and saying how wonderful it was to see two young man clearly concerned about a ten year old. "Wow, didn't think it would have that effect" Dan said. "You wait until the local press comes out next week" Val laughed. "I hope we don't get hoards of press here; I don't want Jake bothered by newsmen" Robin said. Val said the press were unlikely to want any more news on the item and it was unfortunate in a way that there'd been a leak from their end. Dan laughed and said at least it had sorted a long standing problem he had with his parents. "Anyhow, I came round for two reasons; the main one being to see how things were and how Jake is doing; where is he by the way?" Robin explained he'd gone to school having said he wanted to and that they'd seen the head teacher. Val agreed it was good that he wanted to go rather than be at home thinking about things. As it happened it was good he was not there to witness the outburst earlier. She then said the second reason was to give them Kathy and Len's personal effects. "Would you like a cup of tea?" Dan asked Val. She said she'd love one so whilst Robin went through the items and signed for them, Dan made the tea. As he did so he kept an eye on Robin guessing it would be hard for him to handle his mother's personal items such as her rings, her watch and her handbag. He then watched him do the same for Len's things and noted tears forming in his eyes. He went over to him and held him in his arms. So as to give the two guys a moment, Val made the tea. "This is the hardest part of my job" she commented as she placed the mugs of tea on the table before sitting down. Robin and Dan nodded and gave her a weak smile. She really was very kind and they appreciated the way she'd dealt with them. "I'd like to tell you guys something because I think it will help." She then announced that she too had a same sex partner and they'd been together for three years. Kate, her partner had been pressured into marriage and had a child. Tom was now eight years old and lived with them. The father had abandoned Kate and Tom long ago. "To be honest I'd never thought I'd have children but Tom has been a delight and the last three years have been the happiest of my life; okay children change your life but it's worth it in the end. From what I've seen of Jake, he's a lovely lad and he's lucky to have two equally lovely guys to look after him so don't ever let the likes of Mrs Fuller make you think you were wrong in doing what you did, because in no way were you." Robin and Dan just sat and listened as she continued. She told them that her parents had been very supportive when she told them she was a lesbian and even more so when they met Kate and Tom. But Kate's parents are very homophobic and made hurtful comments to Kate and Val when they heard they were bringing up Tom. "I'm sure you're aware there are many such people around like Kate's parents and yours Dan but equally there are lots of people who support the likes of us and it's my view that as time goes on the number of people who support us will outgrow those who don't. In the meantime we have to support each other and not let it get to us." When she'd finished talking, Robin and Dan just looked at her. What she'd said meant a lot to them. "Thanks for telling us that Val" Robin replied. "I reckon Tom and Jake would like each other; in fact they may already know one another because Tom goes to the same school as Jake but is in a different class of course. Why don't we get together sometime and see how the two boys get on?" Dan and Robin thought that a great idea so it was decided they'd go round to Val and Kate's house for Sunday lunch since Val was off duty this weekend. "It will do you both good to get away for a while and Jake too." Robin and Dan nodded as they thanked her. She gave them her address and phone number and told them to go round about twelve thirty. "See you all on Sunday then" Val smiled as she made her way out. When she'd gone, Robin looked at Dan. "Well, now we're friends with a lesbian" Dan chuckled, "I had a feeling she wasn't an ordinary copper by the way she dealt with us yesterday." Robin took Dan into his arms and hugged him. "Are you okay my love?" "Yeah, I'm fine; to be honest I'm glad it's all over between me and my parents because I knew they'd never accept us and I don't want Jake to be exposed to bigots like them." "Fuck yes; I'm so glad he wasn't here to witness that; I think I'd have hit her had he heard her call him a brat; the fucking bitch." "I'm sorry my love but at least we can now move on." "Dan, it's not your fault; I'm just so sorry you've had to deal with it for so many years." "Why the fuck is it that the good people in this world get shot and not the fucking shits like them?" Robin grinned. He knew Dan didn't really mean that but the same thought had gone through his head. 4. "I'm off to collect Jake" Robin called out at three fifteen not wanting to be late when Jake came out of school at three thirty. They'd discussed whether both would go but didn't want to make Jake feel uncomfortable having his two `daddies' collect him. As Robin walked to the school the realisation of how different their lives were going to be hit him once again but he looked forward to it. The thought of being responsible for raising a child excited him. Once outside the school he joined other parents waiting for their offspring. In view of the short distance they were from the school he imagined Jake would be perfectly able to walk home on his own but he wanted to meet him on his first day at school after the tragedy. The bell rang and within minutes there was scampering of feet as children of all ages appeared. Several parents had acknowledged him although he wasn't sure whether that was because he was the only man or whether they knew he was the `gay man' who'd taken on the mantel of looking after a child whose parents had been killed. Perhaps he was being over sensitive even though nobody had given any indication of disapproval but the scene with Dan's mother earlier had put him on edge. Suddenly he saw Jake's ginger mop of hair walking towards the gate. He moved forward so he could see him not wanting to call out and embarrass him. Jake scanned the crowd of adults looking for his mum out of habit before seeing Robin. He guessed this would happen for some while longer. Robin waved and Jake grinned as he quickened his pace knowing the school didn't approve of running out the gate. "Hi" Robin said once Jake was near him. "Hello" Jake replied and immediately took hold of Robin's hand. Robin was pleased that Jake had done that and led him away from the other parents to make their way home. "How's today gone?" "Yeah, good; we had PE this morning and English this afternoon." "And you managed the whole day; I'm proud of you." Jake squeezed Robin's hand as a thank you. "Is Dan at home?" "Yes, he's busy working; we thought you wouldn't want both of us collecting you. Did your mum always collect you or were you allowed to go home on your own?" Jake said his mum always collected him although he did feel he was old enough now to go home by himself. He didn't have to cross any major roads and it wasn't that far. "Some other boys my age go home on their own", he added. "So would you like to?" Jake said he would so it was agreed he'd go to school on his own for a week and Robin or Dan would collect him to see how he got on. If he felt okay making the journey on his own then they'd only meet him if they happened to be passing by. Jake was happy with that arrangement and felt very grown up. Dan met him once through the door and gave him a hug and a kiss. "Pop upstairs to take off your shoes and wash your hands and then come back down; have got a drink and a surprise waiting for you." Robin watched as Jake ran upstairs. "I can see who's going to spoil him" he chuckled. "Well, he deserves spoiling and it's only an oat biscuit I made earlier. Within minutes, Jake was running down the stairs again wanting to see his surprise. When he saw a glass of orange juice and a homemade biscuit on the table he ran over to Dan and put his arms round him to say thank you. Jake then sat down and consumed the biscuit within seconds. Val and Kate lived just ten minutes walk away so they decided not to use the car. It also meant they could drink, assuming the two women did so. Kate was delightful and made Robin and Dan very welcome. She expressed her sympathy for their loss and gave them a hug and a kiss on the cheek. As Val did the same, Kate got down to Jake's level and hugged him. He too immediately liked her and as she hugged, he saw Tom looking on. Although they went to the same school they'd never spoken. Kate introduced them and once coats and shoes had been discarded Tom excitedly led Jake up to his room informing him he was making something awesome with Lego. Jake's face lit up because he too loved playing with Lego. "I think that's all we'll see of them until their stomachs bring them back" Val chuckled and watched the two lads scamper up the stairs. She invited the two guys into the living room which was every bit as large as theirs. "So how are things?" she asked as Kate poured out some wine. "Slowly getting used to a new life" Robin commented. "Jake is not any bother" Dan added, "He seems to be coping better than us in some ways." "I just worry he's bottling it all up and at some point it will all pour out" Robin said. "All you can do is to be there for him when the time comes" Val replied. "And if we can help in any way don't hesitate to ask" Kate added. Dan and Robin thanked her for the offer knowing at some point in time they'd probably welcome some help. They then talked about each other's careers and the women were really interested in hearing about their business. "So if you need house insurance any time, let us know" Dan said. "This guy never stops doing the sales pitch" Robin laughed. "Well, someone has to" Dan giggled. "I'm the technical side of things and the administrator" Robin exclaimed. Val said she wasn't surprised since Robin had struck her as being the organised one. "See, I do have my uses" Robin teased Dan. Kate said it was good to complement one another and made a good team. Dan asked whether she worked bearing in mind there was Tom to look after. She agreed that looking after a child could often be a full time job but she was a proof reader for technical documents so fitted that round her duties as a mother. Robin commented that Val's hours must be demanding in her job. "Not as much as male officers. There's still a feeling in the police force that WPC's aren't as capable as males so are seldom called in for major incidents but it suits me if that's what they want." "A bit like gays and straights then" Robin grinned. "Precisely; the police force definitely doesn't think much of gays, or lesbians for that matter." "We had that feeling from your male colleague the other day" Dan chuckled. "Oh, that guy is a complete twat and on the verge of being homophobic with it, but I soon put him in his place if he steps out of line." The guys laughed. They could imagine her doing that. "And homophobic mothers" Robin chuckled. Kate laughed, "Yeah, I understand you had a ranting maniac to deal with". "When are we eating? We're starving" a voice suddenly announced. The adults grinned and Kate said the meal would be ready in fifteen minutes. "We've made this awesome Lego castle" Jake told Robin and settled between his legs. Val and Kate watched the half brothers hug each other for a moment. The love for each was oozing out and it was nice to watch. They then saw how Jake included Dan and knew they were very much a family. For a moment, Tom felt slightly jealous so moved beside his two mummies. They each put an arm round him and he felt wanted again. He and Jake had talked about having two daddies and mummies and compared notes. Tom had told Jake that he'd never known his dad since he'd left him and his mum when Tom was two. They both felt they had something in common, in addition to their love of Lego, so they'd made a pact to be good pals and look after each other. The meal Kate prepared was delicious and both Dan and Robin congratulated her on it. Val and Kate were also impressed with Jake's table manners having noted he sat their quietly waiting patiently unlike Tom. When it was time to leave the guys thanked the girls and it was agreed they'd definitely meet up again. It was also noted that Tom and Jake had got on well together. On their way back home, Robin asked Jake if he liked Tom. "Yeah, he's good fun and we made a wicked castle with Lego; he's got the big set which mum said was too expensive but it has lots more bits than mine." Robin smiled and made a note of that. It was Jake's birthday in just a few weeks in October so he decided they'd buy the big Lego set for him. Fortunately their business was doing well so they could afford to spoil Jake and Robin intended doing so. They had long talks with Jake about whether or not he wanted to attend the funeral but he said he did so he could say goodbye to his mum and dad. Robin was pleased since he'd felt the same way when his dad died even though he was older but he knew Jake would always regret it if he didn't go although he and Dan knew they'd receive a few black looks from some who thought it was not the place for a ten year old. Robin had spoken to Kate about it and she agreed that Jake should attend if he wanted. Rebecca and Terry said they'd meet them at the crematorium so it was only the three of them in the official car that followed the two hearses. As they drove along, Robin's mind flashed back to when he'd done the same with his mum all those years ago. Dan sensed his unease and asked if he was okay. He nodded and gripped Jake's hand to let him know he was there for him. It was a simple service since neither Kathy nor Len were religious. Robin said a few words saying what a wonderful mother Kathy had been to him and Rebecca and how Kathy and Len had been wonderful parents to Jake. Dan had also wanted to say a few words and in his address he praised both Kathy and Len for making him feel a very important part of their family and how much he missed them. By the time they'd both finished there was hardly a dry eye in the place. They then watched the two coffins disappear behind the curtain and both Robin and Dan clasped Jake's hands. They'd explained what cremation meant and he just nodded but Robin told him that the memories of his mummy and daddy would carry on inside him. Dan had organised a get together of family members and friends at a local hotel who'd put on a simple buffet. Robin wasn't looking forward to this one bit and was worried about how Jake would cope so he made sure he had him by his side at all times. They'd been surprised at how many people attended the funeral. There were friends and neighbours many of whom they didn't know. Val and Kate attended which they really appreciated because in the two weeks since they'd first met they'd become close friends. Jake and Tom were also good friends and made sure they met up at school in the playground during breaks and even spent time at each other's houses after school. As they stood there shaking hands with everyone and accepting their condolences, Robin hardly noticed who everyone was until suddenly his Aunt Rose barged her way towards him. "So this is your mother's child by the other man" she said in a very brusque voice. Robin immediately felt hostile towards her. He'd never liked the woman and as a child he'd always kept out of her way when she visited her brother, who was his dad. "Yes, this is Jake" he said curtly and placed a protecting arm round Jake. "So what's happening to him?" she asked in her brusque tone. "He's living with us" Dan replied having seen Robin's reaction to the woman. "How come; a boy needs a mother and a father, not two men" and added after a pause "like you two". Robin had known his aunt fully disapproved of his sexuality and even more so when she heard he was living with a man. "Since it's not your concern Aunt Rose I suggest you leave us to get on with our lives." "I agree" Kate chipped in having heard this obnoxious woman's comments. "You clearly don't know your nephew or his partner very well if you think they're not capable or suitable to bring up a child. For your information both Robin and Dan are extremely capable and can provide a stable loving home for Jake so I suggest you leave them to it. As it happens I too have a son who I raise with my same sex partner; my son's father fucked off when he was two so saying that a boy needs a mother and a father is complete rubbish woman." All those nearby stood motionless as did Robin and Dan. Seeing she was not going to win the argument, Aunt Rose grabbed her husband's hand and dragged him off. He'd just stood by as usual saying nothing having found long ago he couldn't argue with his wife. When she'd walked out of the room with her husband running behind her, Dan turned to Kate and thanked her for coming to their rescue. "You're welcome my love; that kind of woman really gets my goat; stupid bitch." Jake giggled when he heard Kate's comment. He'd never seen the battle-axe before so had no idea she was family. Needless to say that was the last time anyone saw or heard anything from Aunt Rose which suited Robin and scrubbed her off the Christmas card list. That evening after the funeral, Robin and Dan made sure that Jake had plenty of attention. They could tell he was thinking about the day's events and wanted him to feel loved before he went to bed. The funeral had been on a Friday so Jake asked if he could stay up later than normal. Robin said he could but suggested he get ready for bed and then they'd play one of his games with him. He ran upstairs, brushed his teeth and undressed before slipping on his dressing gown. He'd discarded wearing pyjamas for good but occasionally wore a pair of boxer shorts in bed. That night he decided not to, so went back downstairs in just his dressing gown. He knew Robin and Dan were casual about nakedness having seen them walk round without clothes on. "Can I sit on your lap?" he asked Robin. Robin agreed so Jake jumped on. "I see we're nude" Robin chuckled and tickled Jake's leg which made him giggle. He'd brought with him his Etch a Sketch so they first played with that. Jake drew a witch on it and giggled. Dan, who was sitting beside Robin, asked who it was and Jake said it was Aunt Rose. They had a good laugh which was good to relieve the tension of the day. Having completed more pictures of people they'd met that day, they played a game of snap which was always one of Jake's favourite games. Finally it was time for Jake to go to bed so Dan kissed him goodnight and Robin went upstairs with him. Once in bed he took Jake into his arms and hugged him tight. "Never forget Jake, we're always here for you." Jake nodded and gave Robin a big wet kiss. He loved his half brother and Dan, and even though he missed his mum and dad terribly, he knew he'd be okay. When Robin returned downstairs, Dan patted the seat beside him. Robin sat down and they fell into each other's arms. "I love you so much" Dan whispered into his ear. "And I you; I really don't know how I'd manage without you." They hugged and felt over each other as Dan allowed his hand to trace the shape of Robin's thigh with his palm, enjoying the physical contact. Even after all their years together, they both still felt that jolt of electricity when they touched. "How about going to bed early" Robin grinned, "I need to feel you inside me". They hadn't had proper sex since Jake had joined them. Not that they felt they couldn't but their emotions had been all over the place since that fateful day and sex was the last thing on their mind but the funeral seemed to be the moment to move on. Dan grinned and immediately stood up lifting Robin with him. They switched off the lights, checked the front and back doors were locked and made their way to bed. Once in bed they pressed their naked bodies against each other. For a while they just kissed and hugged both feeling their cocks rise to the occasion. Without actually saying anything, Dan rolled Robin onto his back and lifted his legs. Robin smiled knowing what would happen next. His cock jumped to attention as he watched Dan lubricate his before gently pushing it against his entrance. Robin sighed contentedly as he felt Dan's long thick organ slowly fill him up and then thrust back and forward. Dan too was giving out contented sighs and Robin wondered whether Jake would hear them since the bedroom doors were never closed right to. After a long wonderful fuck, Dan's body tensed and he knew he was about to release his load. He grabbed hold of Robin's cock which was oozing pre-cum. As he increased his pace, he massaged Robin until they were both shooting ribbons of cum. "Oh god, that felt so good" Dan said loudly and suddenly remembered they had a ten year old down the corridor. Robin grinned. "I shouldn't worry; he's got to know at some point in time what we get up to." Before they knew it, Jake's eleventh birthday was upon them. Both Dan and Robin wanted to make it very special as it was the first one since his mum and dad had died so Dan baked a cake in the shape of a castle with Jake's help since it was impossible to do it without him knowing and Robin asked him if he'd like to invite Tom round for a birthday tea with Val and Kate. He jumped at the idea so it was agreed they'd hold that on the Saturday since his actual birthday was on the Thursday. On the morning of his birthday, both Dan and Robin made sure they were awake early and went into Jake's room to wish him a happy birthday. They gave him a big birthday card which he immediately ripped open. Inside he read `A very happy birthday and lots of love from your two `daddies' Robin and Dan.' At the bottom of the card was another note which said `Mummy and Daddy are here in spirit and also wish you a very happy birthday'. Jake smiled and pulled the two guys into a big hug and gave each of them an equally big kiss. "Thank you and thank you mummy and daddy. I know you're still here even though I can't see you. I love you." The words caused Robin's eyes to fill with tears. This wonderful lad never ceased to amaze him. "I think you'd better get up because there might be some presents waiting for you downstairs" Dan grinned. Within seconds Jake was out of his bed and running naked to the bathroom. He now showered on his own having decided he was grown up enough to do so without any help. Robin and Dan grinned before hugging each other and then kissed. They'd not done so in bed so made up for it whilst Jake was in the bathroom and had a good feel of each other. Suddenly they realised Jake was back and giggling. "I see we're nude" he laughed having seen Robin's and Dan's dressing gown wide open. Robin immediately covered himself but Dan stood up, slipped off his robe and threw it over his shoulder. "Come on Robin, I need you" he giggled. Jake loved watching the two guys like this and giggled as Robin removed his robe and followed his lover. When Jake went into the kitchen he saw two large parcels on the table where he normally sat. He gasped and ached to open them but Dan said he must eat his breakfast first. He gobbled it down hardly taking breath as he looked at each one wondering what they could be. "Okay, you can open them now" Robin smiled knowing that Jake couldn't hold back any longer. Jake took the largest one first and ripped open the brightly coloured paper. As soon as he saw the box he gasped, looked at Robin then at Dan and back to the box. "It's the big set" he exclaimed and hugged it against his chest. "So that's the one you wanted is it?" Robin grinned. "Yes, it's wicked" Jake rushed round to give Robin and Dan a big kiss before rushing back to his seat to open the other one. When he'd opened that he again gasped. This was a Sony Walkman with a couple of music tapes Dan knew Jake liked. "It's the latest model" Dan grinned knowing more about these things than Robin. Finally Jake calmed down and Robin got him ready for school. He told him that by the time he came home the post would have arrived so hopefully there'd be more cards and hopefully a present from Rebecca and Terry. When Jake had gone, Dan took Robin into his arms. "I think the presents went down well." Robin nodded. He so wanted to make it a special day for Jake. "Now we're on our own, how about we have some fun" Dan said with a wicked grin on his face. "We've got work to do." "The work can wait; I want to fuck you." Before Robin could respond, Dan was already undressing him. When he was stark naked, Dan pulled him up close and they kissed. As they did so, Robin removed Dan's clothes. When they were both naked they walked upstairs and made love on the bed which ended with Dan giving his lover a long hard fuck. The party on the Saturday was very successful and the birthday cake went down well. When Kate heard that Dan had made it she was very impressed and said she'd be knocking on the door the next time she wanted one as she and Val were hopeless when it came to baking. Dan said he and Jake loved baking and Jake said he did the mixing. Christmas was soon upon them. Robin wasn't really looking forward to it since they'd always spent it with his mum and Len. In the end, Val and Kate invited them for Christmas lunch and they joined the guys for Boxing Day. The two boys had a great time playing with each other so it went by without too many tears. Several months later, Terry and Rebecca announced they were moving to Costa del Sol with Terry's parents to run a small hotel together. Robin was shocked and couldn't see Rebecca being the jovial host. Because Terry wanted to do it, she'd used her share from their mother's estate to go into business with his parents. Robin was sure she was making a big mistake but she'd never taken notice of her brother so he said nothing. She and Terry had seldom been in contact with them since their mother had died and she almost ignored Jake so they were no loss. Even so, he felt it was another family loss so it really was just the three of them now. Jake was happy and fully settled in with Robin and Dan who enjoyed family life. In fact time seemed to rush by and they watched Jake grow into a fine young man. He loved school and he and Tom were seldom apart. The two guys found their friendship with the two lesbians grew even stronger and they often did things as a group. If the girls wanted a night out then Tom would sleep over with Jake and the reverse would happen. As the boys grew older Dan noticed they were inseparable. It reminded him of how he and Robin had been at their age and began to wonder. "Do you reckon they're gay?" Dan asked Robin one day, "Neither have girlfriends". The same thoughts had gone through Robin's mind. Jake would soon be fifteen and Tom was thirteen. "Would it bother you if they were?" "Of course not, but do you reckon they are?" Robin shrugged his shoulders and said time will tell. "I'm sure Jake will tell us when he's ready to do so." Dan agreed. At least the boys knew they'd not get a negative reaction like he had from his parents, who he'd not been in contact with since his mother stormed into their house that day. 5. Robin couldn't believe that five years had gone by already. He and Dan had enjoyed their role as a dad to Jake despite the ups and downs that is part of growing up but overall Jake was a lovely lad and even the heartaches were worth it. He'd just celebrated his fifteenth birthday and they'd taken Jake, with Tom of course, to the west end to see Chorus Line. The two lads loved it and Robin noticed they held hands most of the performance. There was no doubt in either his or Dan's mind that the two lads were gay but nothing had been said as yet. A few days later, Jake asked Robin if he could have a private word. Over the years he'd always gone to Robin for personal chats even though he loved Dan but Robin was his half brother so felt he was the one who should be his mentor. They went up to Jake's room and sat on the bed. "When did you know you were gay?" Robin smiled. He'd been expecting this conversation for quite a while. He said he'd been thirteen when he was sure although he'd suspected before then. "And how did you know?" "Simple; I was never interested in girls and boys always turned me on." "How long did you know Dan before you knew you loved each other?" "More or less from the moment we first met; we were twelve at the time." They looked at each other for a few moments and Robin waited for Jake to continue. "Are you trying to tell me something Jake?" Jake nodded and moved closer. "I think I'm gay, in fact I know I am and so is Tom and we're in love with each other." Robin put his arms round Jake, who was no longer the little boy he'd once known but a strapping lad. Jake put his arm round Robin and they hugged each other tight. "I'm not surprised; Dan and I recognised this coming a long time ago." "Were we that obvious? Jake laughed. "Shall we say we could both see you loved each but it's good and as long as you're both happy don't give a fuck what anyone else says; just remember you're both below the legal limit." "We've not done anything" Jake exclaimed, "Well apart from sucking each other off." "I never heard that" Robin chuckled, "Just make sure you keep it to yourself. Has Tom told Val and Kate?" Jake said he hadn't because he was worried they'd think he was too young. "I presume he is really but we love each other so much." Robin said it had to be up to Tom to decide when he told them but as far as he and Dan were concerned they were happy for them. "Thanks; I love you so much." Jake gave Robin a quick kiss on the lips which he'd never done before. He knew that his little half brother was now an adult and wondered what new challenges that would bring. When he went downstairs into the office, Robin moved up behind Dan and held him tight. Dan never minded receiving love and attention from his partner so stopped what he was doing. Robin kissed the back of his neck and slowly unbuttoned his shirt until he had naked flesh to feel. As usual Dan's cock was soon reacting and he wanted to release it. "What's brought this on?" he giggled rather enjoying the attention. Robin told him Jake's news. "Yeah, knew they were; is he okay?" Robin said he was and had reminded Jake they were underage. "Don't seem to remember that stopped us" Dan giggled. "Yeah, well; what we don't know we can't worry about can we; but in the meantime I want to feel this inside me." Dan giggled as Robin unfastened his trousers and took hold of Dan's cock which was now fully erect. He was certainly up for some sex and asked Robin if he wanted to go upstairs. Robin giggled and said he'd always wanted Dan to fuck him over his desk. Being ever prepared, Dan opened a drawer and pulled out some lube. Having closed the door to the office, Robin pulled his trousers down and leaned over his desk pulling his entrance wide open for Dan to fuck him. Dan soon had his rampant cock inside Robin and fucked like mad. It was pure sex and they both loved it. "Oh yeah, that cock of yours feels so good inside me" "Sure does mate" It didn't take long for Dan to reach his climax so he was soon shooting his hot cum inside of Robin. Once done he pulled out and told Robin to fuck him. Robin lubricated his stiff cock and offered it up to Dan's entrance. With one push he thrust it in and Dan gasped but he loved rough sex every so often. Robin then gave him a good hard fuck until he too had shot his load. "Fuck, that was good" Dan said once Robin had finished. He stood up and they pulled each other into a kiss with their trousers still round their ankles. Upstairs, Jake was massaging his cock. He felt so much happier now he'd come out to Robin. As he brought himself to a climax he imagined his cock deep inside Tom. Finally he reached his point of no return and ribbons of creamy cum shot over his naked chest. He looked over to the door and realised he'd not closed it so hoped neither Robin nor Dan would come in. He then grinned "What if they did; it wouldn't bother me or them" he chuckled. Several weeks later Robin could tell that Jake was not his usual bubbly self when he came home from school. "Is everything okay?" Jake just nodded as he made his way up to his room. Robin knew something was wrong so after a few minutes decided to follow him. "What's wrong my love?" Jake just looked at him but Robin could see something was definitely troubling him. "Come on Jake, talk to me" he said gently and put his arms round Jake. Jake squeezed Robin's hands and pulled his arms tighter. "Have you fallen out with Tom?" Jake shook his head vehemently so Robin knew that wasn't the problem. "Is it something to do with school?" Jake nodded and tears filled his eyes. Robin gently led him to the bed and they sat side by side. Eventually he persuaded Jake to talk. Two boys were bullying him and Tom and calling them names. "They call us fucking poofs and queers and today one of them said they weren't surprised we were both gay because we lived with fucking queers. That's not true is it; just living with two gays wouldn't make us gay would it?" For a moment Robin was shocked but knew how hurtful boys could be to each other. He told Jake that of course it wasn't true. "We're made the way we are; just living with two gays is certainly not going to make you gay; do you have any doubts in your own mind as to whether you're gay?" Jake said he didn't and was one hundred percent certain he was gay and Tom felt the same. "Tom was really upset today and I don't know what to do." Robin suggested he invite him round so they could comfort each other. Jake nodded so set off to phone Tom immediately. "Can he join us for a meal?" Robin said of course he could. "What about staying over? I think Val's on duty tonight and Kate is going out." Robin smiled and said of course he could, provided they could manage in Robin's single bed. Not that it had stopped them sleeping together before. Jake grinned and ran downstairs to call his lover. When Tom arrived Robin watched the two guys embrace and kiss each other. Jake had told Tom that Robin and Dan knew about them so they felt they could show how much they loved each other without having to hide their feelings. Tom had still not told his mum as yet but knew he'd have to do so soon. When Dan had supplied them with drinks and a piece of the latest fruit cake he and Jake had made, they sat down to talk. It was clear that Tom was very upset over the latest remarks made by the two bullies. With due questioning, they admitted the bullying had been going on for a long time but had ignored it. These latest comments about the people who'd provided a safe and loving home for them really upset them. "You could just ignore them" Dan commented, "Those kinds of guys soon get tired of it if they find they're not getting a reaction." Tom said they also bullied other guys who were perceived as being gay. Jake agreed and felt the school should do something about it before someone was really hurt. Robin said he was willing to take it up with the headmaster if they agreed. "What about your mum Tom, wouldn't she want to be involved?" Tom agreed she would but didn't feel he could raise the issue without coming out as gay. "Are you unsure about your sexuality Tom?" Dan asked. Tom said he knew he was definitely gay and loved Jake but wasn't sure how his mum and Val would react. "Come off it guys, they both understand how it feels; I'm sure they'll both be very supportive." Tom said it was different for him because Kate was his mum whereas Robin was Jake's half brother. "I told my mum and she was fine about it" Robin replied. "And she was when she knew I was gay" Dan added, "It was my homophobic bible bashing parents who were the problem but let's face it both Val and Kate are not like that." "So you think I should tell them." Robin said it had to be his choice and nobody else could make that decision for him but all he could say was he was sure his mum and her partner would be fine. Tom smiled and thanked him saying he'd tell them the very next day. It was agreed that once he'd done so, Robin would speak to Kate about approaching the school to discuss the bullying issue because he was sure Kate would feel angry about that. With that agreed, the two lads went up to Jake's room to do their homework, although how much they actually got done, Robin wasn't sure. "The joys of growing up" Dan chuckled once the two lads had left them. "And the joys of parenthood" Robin replied. After they'd finished their meal and the two lads had cleared away the dishes with Tom's insistence that they did so, they returned to Jake's bedroom. Once there they lay on the bed hugging and kissing each other. It didn't take long for cocks to be hard and for hands to be delving inside their pants. Jake was itching to have real sex with Tom but so far hadn't felt he should although he knew Tom's fourteenth was only a few weeks away. He looked over to the door and decided to close it shut since this was the `keep out' signal for everyone in the house. As soon as he'd done so he slipped off his T shirt and his socks. Tom grinned at him guessing what was coming next. He watched Jake remove his jeans and gazed at the hard organ pushing out his pants. "Well, are you going to just sit there?" Jake giggled. Tom immediately stripped down to his briefs and joined Jake on the bed. It wasn't long before the briefs were also removed and they rubbed their rampant organs together as they kissed. They were so happy and so much in love that it almost burst their hearts. Jake turned Tom onto his side, facing away from him. As he kissed the back of Tom's neck, which they both found very erotic, he slipped his lubricated erection between Tom's legs right in his crotch. He reached round and took hold of Tom's erection and commenced massaging. He rubbed his own erection back and forth between Tom's legs slowing bringing it to a climax. It wasn't fucking in the true sense but it was the next best thing. They both knew what the real thing involved having read dirty magazines but neither had felt it right to go that far just yet. "Ah, fuck, I'm coming" Jake cried out just as Tom released his load. When they were both spent, they collapsed into each other's arms. "You will tell your mum tomorrow won't you" Jake whispered. Tom nodded. He'd made up his mind to do so. "I see the bedroom door is well and truly shut" Dan giggled having gone upstairs to use the bathroom. "Fuck, does that mean they're at it?" "We were at their age" Dan chuckled. Robin nodded and wondered what his mum had thought when she saw his bedroom door well and truly shut with him and Dan inside. Two days later Jake announced that Tom had come out to his mum so the issue of the bullying at school could now be tackled. The two concerned were still doing it at every opportunity so Jake and Tom definitely wanted something done otherwise they'd get into a fighting match with the two concerned and Jake for one certainly didn't want that. "Has Tom mentioned anything to you about bullying at school?" Robin asked Kate when he called one morning knowing she'd be home. "Not exactly but I had a feeling something was going on; I understand Jake and Tom have told you about them." Robin said they had and asked if she and Val were okay about it. Kate laughed and said of course they were but she was more concerned about the bullying. It was agreed that he and Dan would go round that afternoon to discuss the matter since Val would be home by then. When Kate and Val heard what the bullies had said about them and the guys, Kate was furious. It was agreed that all four would see the headmaster together. They decided it was time the school did something about bullying on the grounds of sexuality or anything else for that matter so Robin said he'd arrange a meeting with the headmaster. As it happened, the headmaster was able to see them the following morning which suited Val since she was not on shift until that afternoon. They decided to travel together in Dan's car so as to arrive together. When Robin saw Val in her WPC uniform he grinned. "Thought it might give the meeting a bit more weight" she chuckled. On seeing a WPC arrive with three other parents, the headmaster was slightly taken aback. Robin had said the meeting was to discuss bullying at the school but he didn't provide any further details. Robin and Kate put the facts on the table and named the two boys concerned but added that it seemed the teaching staff had done nothing to stop it despite some knowing what was going on. "It has to stop" Val said in her officious voice which made the headmaster look up. "Bullying on any grounds is unacceptable, especially something as sensitive as sexuality. You must have a number of pupils who are going through the difficult stage of dealing with their sexuality and they should receive support from the school and not be the butt of some ignorant pupils, or staff for that matter and being made to feel inferior. Despite what some may think, Kate and I and Robin and Dan provide a very stable home for our boys and we expect the school to support us in that." The headmaster nodded having taken it all in and questioned whether it was just the two boys. "Who knows" Dan replied "but it's been going on for quite some time now so it's possible there are others and from our knowledge of the school when Robin and I were here, there were members of staff who clearly had homophobic feelings." The headmaster was concerned to hear this having only been in post for just on a year so said he would most definitely deal with the matter. "Perhaps we should consider holding some sessions for pupils and teachers on the issue of sexuality. Would any of you be interested in taking part?" All four said they would so it was agreed the headmaster would raise the matter with the governors to obtain their agreement. "Well, I think that went rather well don't you?" Val chuckled once outside. The others agreed and hoped something positive would come out of it. Several days later, Jake announced that the two bullies had been spoken to by the headmaster and given sharp rebukes so they'd been shut up for the moment at least, but he'd also raised the matter at the school assembly and told everyone that bullying was not acceptable at all and any pupil found bullying would be dealt with most seriously. A few weeks afterwards the headmaster contacted Robin to say he'd agreed with the Governors to run sessions with the senior school pupils who aged from thirteen to sixteen. It was suggested they do these on a class by class basis. It was agreed that Robin and Kate would be the guinea pigs to start with so they prepared a format to use having agreed with the headmaster they'd start with the fifteen to sixteen year-olds and work their way down even though this meant that Jake would be present at the first session but he was prepared to take any flack that might arise. The headmaster decided to chair the first session just in case things got out of hand and a couple of senior teachers also attended. Robin and Kate introduced themselves as a gay man and a lesbian who lived with their partners. There was immediate sniggering from two or three pupils at the back of the room. All pupils had been given the choice to attend or not but everyone had done so either because they were genuinely interested or wanted a good laugh. "What is it you find funny young man?" Robin immediately asked one of the culprits. "Nothing sir" "So why laugh when you are introduced to a lesbian and a gay man?" The boy didn't answer and slumped down in his seat trying to hide. "That kind of reaction is precisely what we want to talk about" Robin continued and then asked whether anyone knew how someone became gay. Several hands went up and Kate asked a couple to give their views. Each said that a person was born that way so had no control over their feelings for the same sex. "So, you young man" Robin said pointing to the pupil who'd sniggered, "Did you know that?" "No sir" "Well that's one thing you've learnt from today's session" Kate replied before going on to explain how difficult it was to come to terms with your sexuality as a teenager and the struggle a young person went through. She added that several young people committed suicide rather than face their true sexuality and that bullying had generally been a significant factor in that. The class was stunned and sat silent as she continued. Robin then talked about how bullying affected a young person and asked for a show of hands of those who'd been bullied at some point during their school life. The headmaster was shocked to see the number of hands. Robin and Kate then asked several of those who'd put their hand up if they were prepared to say why they'd been bullied. The range of reasons varied from the colour of their skin, the colour of their hair, the shape of their bodies and one boy admitted it was because of his perceived sexuality. By the end of the session the headmaster was dumfounded. He'd no idea that bullying went on for so many different reasons. "So, as you can see" Robin concluded, "bullying is not only because of whether someone is perceived to be gay but for a host of other reasons. The question is, will any of you decide to bully someone just because they appear to be different from you?" There was a general shaking of heads so to that extent they came away feeling the session had been useful. Kate and Robin along with the two senior teachers were invited back to the headmaster's office for a debriefing. "I'd like to thank Kate and Robin for coming today and running that session" the headmaster started "but I'm interested in hearing your thoughts on how it went and how useful it was" he said directing his remark to the two teachers. They both said they'd thought it went well and was very useful. "I agree. I not only found it enlightening but felt it was extremely useful so would definitely like to run more sessions with other classes if Robin and Kate are agreeable." They both said they were so dates were arranged. "I just hope Tom and Jake don't get ribbed over this" Robin told Kate once they were on their way home. "Come off it Robin, you know Jake; like his half brother he's able to take what comes along and Tom knows he's got Jake to protect him." Robin smiled. Those words reminded him so much of when he and Dan first met and Robin had to protect him. 6. Jake felt he'd done reasonably well in his final exams at the end of that term but had decided he didn't want to go further. He was interested in joining Robin and Dan's company and gain experience as an insurance broker. They were happy to have him join the firm since they had more than enough work. The problem was that Jake couldn't legally leave full-time education until he reached age sixteen which wasn't until the October. Following discussion with the school it was agreed he'd commence a two year part-time business studies course at the local polytechnic and attend the first part of an A level course in English and Maths for the Autumn term. He'd then start working for the company after Christmas. Jake was so excited that he jumped up and down and gave Robin and Dan lots of hugs and kisses. Tom still had almost two more years at school and was depressed at the thought of not having his lover with him. "It will soon be over my love" Jake told him trying to cheer Tom up, "And we can see each other every day." This did cheer Tom up to some extent but was still not sure how he'd cope on his own. "You'll still love me won't you" Tom said tearfully. "Of course I will, I'll always love you just like Robin and Dan have loved each other since they first fell in love." Robin and Dan meanwhile, were trying to decide how they could accommodate a third person in their somewhat cramped office. "I think we need to think about renting a proper office" Robin said, "We no longer need to work from home". Dan nodded. Their young charge had grown up and no doubt would be flying the nest in due course. It was agreed they'd start looking for suitable office space immediately so they were ready for Jake when the time came. As luck would have it an office above the local shops was vacant. It was only a few minutes' walk away and was ideal. Having agreed the rent subject to the office being redecorated and new carpet tiles being laid, they'd move in at the end of August which was just three weeks away. It was one large space with plenty of room for file storage and an alcove for making cups of tea. All they now had to do was arrange a removal company to move their desks, filing units and equipment. They also decided to ditch their old manual typewriters and buy three IBM electric machines which excited Jake since he'd now learnt how to touch type like the other two. In the January, Jake started his new job and felt so happy. He was not only going to work with the two guys he adored but he had another whom he loved with all his heart. What's more, over Christmas he and Tom had lost their virginity in the new double bed Robin had bought for him having decided that a single was not big enough for two strapping young men to sleep in. Robin and Dan knew what they'd get up to but they turned a blind eye like his mum had done. On his first morning, dressed in a smart new outfit to fit the part, Jake walked to the office with Robin and Dan and his head held high. He'd seen the new office and had worked in the old one to do odd jobs to help out but today he was walking in as a proper employee and would be earning his first salary. He sat down at his shiny new desk and ran a hand over his new IBM electric typewriter. He placed the new pen Robin had given him for Christmas beside a clean pad ready for work. One of his tasks would be to answer the phone and put the caller through to Robin or Dan as appropriate using the new switchboard system. It had also been agreed that to start with he'd type the quotations for clients so as to get used to the jargon used and the different types of insurance the company handled. Once he had a good knowledge of that he'd start to learn the art of brokering. His desk faced Robin and Dan's each of which had a low sound absorbing screen round it to keep the noise levels down when on the phone but they could still see each other over them. Robin smiled at Jake as he got to work. "Happy?" "Never more so" Jake grinned. Over the next few months Jake absorbed the information like a sponge and was soon making a useful contribution to the business. Robin and Dan were more than happy with his progress but didn't allow him to let that information go to his head. He still had a lot more to learn but there was no doubt he was a natural and was soon respected by clients as an efficient part of the team. The months flew by and it was nearly Christmas again. Almost each evening Jake and Tom got together and often Tom would have a meal with the three guys. On other days Jake would go to Tom's and they spent most weekends together with Tom frequently staying over. Robin and Dan turned a blind eye as to what went on in their bedroom but were happy that the two guys were still very much in love with each other. "That lad gets more like his gorgeous half brother every day" Dan commented one night when they'd seen a naked Jake walk past their bedroom door to go to the bathroom. "I hope you're not lusting over him" Robin teased. "Nah, don't need to; I've got a gorgeous sexy guy right here." This led to a very passionate embrace with lots of kisses and Dan kneeling across Robin. When Jake walked back to his room he could hear the pair of them at it. "Randy buggers" he giggled but was secretly envious and massaged his growing organ to satisfy it. As Val's parents had now both passed away, Robin invited the three of them for Christmas Day. Kate's parents were still just as homophobic so all contact with them had been broken. After a wonderful Christmas lunch which Dan and Jake prepared, Val mentioned to Robin that she and Kate would like a quiet word with him and Dan. Once Jake and Tom had disappeared to Jake's room upstairs, Robin closed the living room door guessing that what Val and Kate wanted to talk about was confidential. Some months earlier, Val had been injured whilst on duty when the police car she was driving had been rammed by another during a car chase. The jolt had injured her back and she'd been off work for several weeks. "I've been offered early retirement on the grounds of ill health or I can take an office job; I've decided to accept the former since an office job would drive me mad." Robin and Dan agreed that sounded the best option. Val went on to explain that her parents had left her sufficient money to buy another property. "The thing is the place we've seen and want to buy is in Brighton; we both love the sea and would like to retire down there. It doesn't matter where Kate works and I'll probably do some charity work and get a part-time job to keep me occupied." "Sounds brilliant" Dan replied. Robin immediately realised why the girls wanted to speak to them and asked whether they were planning to sell their house in London. "No, we've decided to rent that out for the time being; our thoughts were that if Jake and Tom want to eventually set up home together we could let them rent it at an affordable price since one day it will be Tom's." Robin nodded and agreed that was an excellent idea. "But I assume your problem in the short term is where Tom lives bearing in mind he's now in his final school year." "That's exactly our dilemma" Kate replied, "and we're not sure what to do." Dan asked if Tom knew about these plans and the girls said he didn't because they wanted to have something in place for him before they spilt the beans. "He could always live with us" Robin said, "Let's face it he spends a lot of his time here in any event and frequently stays over." Both Val and Kate gave a sigh of relief and said they were rather hoping Robin and Dan would suggest that since they knew Tom would jump at the opportunity. "There seems no doubt they're both very much in love with each other" Kate added. Dan grinned and said there was no doubt about it. "And I assume neither are virgins anymore" Val laughed. "We certainly weren't at their age" Dan chuckled. "We'd pay you something towards his food and general upkeep" Kate added. Robin said they certainly wouldn't accept that since they'd love having Tom around and another to feed wouldn't make that amount of difference. "You don't know how much food Tom gets through" Val laughed. "From what we've seen it's no more than Jake but where they both put it beats me seeing how slim the pair of them are." "Yeah, like two other guys we know" Kate giggled. Robin felt he should speak to Jake first since it was his bed Tom would be sleeping in. "Not that I doubt he'll say yes and jump with joy but it's only fair he's consulted." The others agreed so Robin went upstairs to see Jake. Having told Tom he wanted a private word with Jake he packed him off downstairs and sat on the bed with Jake. "What's up?" Jake asked somewhat concerned. "How would you feel about Tom moving in permanently with us and him sharing your room?" Jake looked at Robin to make sure he fully understand. "Tom, permanently live here and sleep with me in this bed?" Robin nodded with a big grin on his face. "Fucking fantastic but why, what's happening to Val and Kate?" Robin told Jake the news about Val and Kate moving to Brighton and them renting their house until such time as he and Tom felt they wanted to set up home on their own which wouldn't be until Tom was at least eighteen. Jake gasped and couldn't believe what he was hearing. "And you and Dan are okay with this are you?" "Of course; we love Tom as much as you so why not; besides he spends the majority of his time here already so you can fuck each other senseless." Jake blushed and grinned. "Thanks Robin; you and Dan are the best." "Yeah I know we are so just remember that when we ask you both to take a share of the household chores." "We will, we will" Jake replied jumping up and down with excitement and then asked when this was going to happen. "They've got to buy the house in Brighton first but from what they're saying it could go through fairly quickly, so a month or two." Jake threw his arms round Robin and hugged him tight whilst giving him a full on wet kiss on the lips. "I love you so much." "Come on, we'd better let Tom know because he's totally in the dark at present." Downstairs, Tom was looking worried having been asked to leave Robin and Jake alone. Dan and the girls tried to talk of things in general to distract him but his thoughts were on what was happening upstairs. Finally Robin and Jake entered the room and he could tell from Jake's face he was really happy about something. He sat on the floor beside Tom but said nothing in accordance with Robin's instructions. Robin nodded to Kate and Val to indicate that Jake was happy with the arrangement so Kate proceeded to tell Tom their news. As she did so he kept looking at Robin and then at Jake sensing they knew. "So, if it's alright with you Tom, Robin, Dan and Jake have agreed you could move in here and live with them permanently until such time as you and Jake want to set up home on your own but that wouldn't be until you're at least eighteen." Tom gasped not knowing what to say for a moment. He looked at his lover and they immediately held hands and kissed. "Would you like to?" Jake eventually asked. "Fuck yes" Tom exclaimed and then rushed over to Robin and Dan to give each of them a big hug and a kiss before doing the same to his mum and finally Val. "We've told Robin and Dan that you two can come and stay with us during holidays to give them a break. The house has two bedrooms so there'll be room." Tom nodded still taking it all in. The thought of living with the guy he loved was like nothing he'd dreamt of doing until they were much older. With everything agreed they talked about the finer details. The girls had put in an offer which had been accepted so things were in motion although they'd have pulled out of the sale if necessary. "Can Tom stay over tonight" Jake asked when they'd finished discussing everything. The girls looked at the two guys and grinned. "Yeah, why not" Robin laughed. The purchase of the house in Brighton went through very smoothly so five weeks later Val and Kate were in the process of moving. The day before, Kate had driven Tom round with his clothes and personal items which somehow they fitted into Jake's room with overflow items in the box room. Now there was no longer an office, the room downstairs had been made into a dining room to give more space in the living room so Tom used that to study in since he had his final exams within the next few months. They'd also discussed what he wanted to do once he'd left school and when he announced he wanted to qualify as an accountant, Robin and Dan said they'd be willing to employ him in the business and let him study part-time. Currently Robin handled all accounting matters using an auditor to prepare the end of year accounts but it was taking up valuable time which he could ill afford with the business growing. Tom immediately accepted the offer since it meant he'd be working alongside his lover and Jake certainly had no objections. "It'll take several years to become fully qualified" Robin told him but Tom was more than happy to put in the work with Jake's support. So, once Tom had finished his full-time education and sat all his exams, he joined the family firm as the accounts assistant. When he'd completed the first stage of the accountancy qualification he'd be made company accountant and continue to the final stage. Another desk had been purchased and put alongside Jake's plus the necessary equipment that Tom required. For a while, Robin wondered whether he and Dan had made the right decision in offering Tom the job but once he saw Tom's level of dedication in his new role and how he and Jake put their love for each other to one side whilst they got on with their work, he soon realised they had done so. They were now set to grow the company to the next level. As expected, Tom fitted into the family with ease and was always ready and willing to help out with things. In fact Robin and Dan noticed that Jake readily took on more of the chores which released them. For two weeks over the first Easter, Tom and Jake went to stay with the girls in Brighton which meant the two guys could go out and enjoy themselves. Even so, they missed having two strapping young men prancing around naked at times but made up for it by having lots of sessions in which they made love and had sex without any worry of two teenagers seeing them. Once again the years quickly went by and Jake celebrated his nineteen birthday. A few months later Tom celebrated his eighteenth. Val and Kate stayed with friends locally so all six of them could go out for a slap up meal and then onto a west end show to celebrate. As they sat enjoying themselves, Robin thought back to that day when the police had arrived to tell them about Kathy and Len. It seemed a lifetime ago now and he wondered how different life would have been had the tragedy not happened. Each year he and Dan still gave each other a gift on that day to celebrate their first meeting together but it now always had a sadness attached to it. They'd always visit the cemetery and put fresh flowers by the spot that marked where Kathy and Len's ashes had been buried. "So, have you guys thought about setting up home on your own?" Kate asked. Jake said they had and decided to wait until he was twenty and Tom nineteen so it would be another year before they left the roost. "That's if Robin and Dan can put up with us for another year" Tom laughed. "Mm will have to think about that" Dan laughed. "What he means is yes, of course we can; besides we like having you guys around." "Thanks" Tom and Jake replied and blew a kiss to each of them. A year later Jake and Tom did as planned and moved into Val and Kate's house once the tenant had been given notice to leave. As their contribution, Robin and Dan agreed to pay for the whole house to be redecorated and for some new furniture since the girls had furnished it with basic items for renting out. Once it was done, they helped the two young men move in. By the time everything was in place, both Jake and Tom had tears in their eyes. "Thank you so much" Jake wept as he hugged his half brother, "And thank you for everything you and Dan have done for me since mum and dad died." Tom then thanked the two guys for what they'd done for him and gave each an equally emotional hug and kiss. When Robin and Dan got back home they looked at each other. "Just us now" Robin said. "Yep, but I'm happy; I'm with the man of my dreams and part of a wonderful family." ~~~~~ Other stories by Adam Stewart can be found on the Prolific Authors list.
