First of all I must apologise for the long delays between this and the last
chapter. This was caused by major family upheaval and a computer crash
which lost the original chapter 6 I had written. I want to thank all my
many readers for their patience.

First a recap

Justin and Matt had settled into life as a couple living at the cottage
attached to the farm. Ryan was busy making cheese and has found a new love
in Mark son of the local beef herd farmer. Simon has recently realised that

account for wining and dining people from these companies which is against

that wasn't supplied by local suppliers in a big way. Mills have always
prided themselves on being a local business using local suppliers. Andrew
knew that the customers come to Mills because they can get locally produced
goods and that they could go down the road to a rival supermarket to get
the bigger brand goods.

Andrew then summoned Lucy to his office and told her that as from now Mills
doesn't stock big brand cheeses and yoghurts. Lucy protested but Andrew
told her it is his business and what he says goes and if she didn't like it
maybe she should find a job elsewhere.

Lucy was furious and left the office in a rage.

Andrew wasn't happy with Lucy's attitude and started to look into her work
more he then discovered the irregularities in her expenses account

Lucy arrived at Mills Group head office at 9am the next morning not knowing
that Andrew was on to her. Andrew had asked to be informed the minute she
had arrived. Andrew then went down to her office and walked in and
suspended her from duty pending disciplinary meeting.

Lucy was dismissed two days later swearing that she would get her
revenge. However it was Andrew who got the last laugh as he later called in
the police and Lucy was arrested and charged with theft and fraud after
further investigations discovered that she has stolen money from the
company over a four year period.

Andrew head hunted David Taylor from a national food store chain which was
closing its offices after being taken over.

David was having the morning from hell he had had a puncture on a country
lane and now was stuck in traffic after a car had collided with a tractor
he saw that he was now late for his appointment and dialled the number into
his phone.

went. Justin picked it up and said "good morning Brooklands Farm Cheese
Company can I help you?"

David explained that he has been held up but would be with them as soon as
possible.

It was around an hour later that a smart looking bmw pulled into the lane
leading to the farm. David saw the sign "Brooklands Farm Cheese Company
Home of Xtra Kick" and also saw the other sign saying "Ivy Cottage Goats
Cheese"

David didn't know about the goat's cheese but decided that today was about
the superb farmhouse cheddar he had tasted recently at a farmers market him
and his wife visited.

Justin spotted the car and went out to meet David.

"Hi I'm David Taylor from Mills Group" David said smiling at the blonde

"I'm Justin Baker Managing Director of Brooklands Farm Cheese Company"

Justin and David walked into the cheese factory and David was impressed by
the clean and airy set up Brooklands had. "This is Matthew Barrett my

Matt smiled and said "hi welcome to Brooklands Farm"

"This is my main cheese maker Ryan Dexter" Justin said

"And this is my younger brother and trainee cheese maker Simon"

"Yeah it was set up by our late mother as a sideline to the main farm but

Justin soon had David sampling the cheese. David also told Justin that he
had actually tried his cheese at a farmer market with his wife and in fact

Justin was on top of the world when David left with three boxes of samples
for the Andrew to sample.

Justin was sat in the office around an hour or so later when he received an
email. He looked up and saw it was from Mills.

Justin opened the email and saw it was from David and it was an order for

"I know where it is I've been there before when barchfield used to supply

"Ok you can take it there for use then that way Matt can concentrate on our

Justin was also busy organising another event his up coming civil
partnership ceremony with the love of his life Matthew.

The date was set the marquee was ordered. Muriel was doing the food she
insisted. The marquee would be set up on the lawn behind ivy cottage on the
Friday the day before the ceremony. The lads were having the ceremony in
the registry office in Exeter and would then come back to the farm for the
reception. Both lads would be dressed in black suits with white shirts and
purple ties and a pink rose in their lapels. Matthew's best friend and

Three months later

It was early at Brooklands farm and Ryan was up getting ready for

Muriel put up and notice on her door saying "due to a bereavement the store
will closed today sorry"

Muriel then got into her car and drove to Mavis's cottage.

Mavis was an early riser and had been up for an hour when she heard a car
pull up outside. Mavis went over to the front window and saw an upset

Soon the passing of Ted was all over the local area. The condolence cards
were arriving daily. Justin hasn't opened the cheese factory for a few days

answer machine. Justin listened to them and all were condolences from
customers who had heard the sad news.

Justin looked at the photo on his desk of Ted Jill Justin and Simon

David was now getting worried it was then that the market inspector Tim
walked passed

Tim said "well the owner Ted Baker has died so what I have been told is
that the cheese company is not trading at the moment"

"No problem just hope they come back they one of our best cheese makers"
Tim said

Justin refused to leave the office saying "i have to make one call first

Justin looked up David's number while Matt stood there with his hands on

Justin found the number and dialled it in

David's phone went off

David answered the phone "David Taylor"

"Hi David its Justin from Brooklands farm here I'm sorry that we failed to
deliver this morning but my dad passed away on Tuesday so we haven't been

"I'm sorry to hear that Justin not the worry I had just found out that at
the farmers market in Exeter I was just about to phone you to pass our
condolences to you." David said

"We will resume operating after the funeral Monday and I promise your order
will be the first to be delivered" Justin said

"Ok no rush Justin you take your time and pass my condolences onto Simon as

"Thank you I will" Justin said

Monday

The whole local farming community ground to a halt as the funeral of local
farmer Ted Baker took place at St Anne's parish church. The church bell

well since moving to take over the parish four years ago. Among the

The service lasted just under an hour and then the mourners followed the
bearers carrying the coffin to the grave where his beloved wife Jill had
been buried a couple of years earlier.

dad"

Matthew walked over and dropped earth in and said "bye ted really miss you"

Mavis followed and said "Bye Ted loves say hi to Jill and Charles for me"
