Wayne's Journal - Part 26 16 January 2018, Tuesday 920 PM Daniel's Place We finally have settled in for the night. Daniel is already asleep beside me, and I'm doing my regular entry as he twitches a little in his sleep. The evening began around 530. Anna, Davis and Grayson showed up. Grayson was moving stiffly, and he looked pretty uncomfortable. I could tell his leg workout with Daniel had done a number on him. They were all in good spirits though. "Hey guys, Anna." Daniel opened the door and greeted the trio. Anna smiled and held a plate covered in plastic wrap. Under that were fresh spring rolls she must have made just a short time earlier. There looked to be some sort of dipping sauce in the middle of them all in a ramekin. "Hi Daniel." She nodded at her plate. "I'll hand this off to Martha to do with as she pleases." "You could leave them here." I reached for the plate but she pulled away with a laugh and gave me a playful shake of her head. As she went to the kitchen I turned back to the men. "How's it going fellas?" Davis' arm was draped comfortably over Grayson's shoulders. They both smiled. "Good." Davis said. "Though this one definitely needs the hot tub. His mean ole trainer apparently tried to kill him." Daniel rolled his eyes and grinned. "Sorry. I couldn't help myself." Grayson waved his hand. "I'm fine. Someone is just a little overprotective." He leaned over and kissed Davis. Both men grinned. We all entered and walked into the kitchen. Anna was in conversation with Saul and Martha. I caught the tail end of it, something about Martha's building. "That's really exciting Martha!" Anna hugged her. They seperated and Martha nodded with a smile. Martha's not really a hugger, but lately she is showing off a little more emotion to our group. I could smell dinner - a kick ass turkey and quinoa meatloaf Martha makes. Low fat, high protein, high flavor. Really good. It made me hungry, but it wasn't quite ready yet. "Thanks Anna." She put her arm around Saul's slim waist and he smiled down at her. "I'm really excited." She looked up at his face and he bent to kiss her. It was quick, but sweet. "And this one is excited for me too." Her smile broadened. "I am. You're gonna do great Martha." Saul looked at her with undisguised confidence and affection. She nodded. And looked at the rest of us. "I'm glad Daniel invited you all over. I have an idea for a long time. And Saul came up with a way to make it actually work." She squeezed him a little harder. "That building is WAAAAYYYYY bigger than I need. And ... I purchased it because of that very reason. I always sort of envisioned multiple things happening in the space." Davis frowned, peeled back the plastic that covered the the spring rolls and took one. "Like what?" He crunched on the delicate, tasty thing. I had to have one, so I grabbed my own and dipped it in the peanut chili sauce Anna had made. The dam was broken now, and everybody descended on the appetizers. Martha held her spring roll. "Well, Saul and I were sort of thinking Daniel could have a big portion of the space to develop a gym." She looked at him and Daniel's eyes grew. "That way you could train your clients there, and even have memberships for others who aren't your clients." Martha shrugged. "I could take ½ of the top floor and be fine. And the other ½ could be for someone's yoga studio, if I could find anybody who was interested." She looked sideways at Saul who smiled and shook his head. "She refocused on Daniel. "But yeah. You could take the whole bottom floor." Daniel quickly swallowed his bite of spring roll. "Martha ... are you sure?" He shook his head. "That's a big deal. Have you really thought about it?" "Yes. I've thought it through. Would you be interested?" Martha stared at him, and took a bite of her roll. She raised an eyebrow and nodded at Anna in appreciation, eliciting a smile from the blond woman. Daniel ran his hand through his hair, his mind doing some preliminary math. "I mean ... I'd need to run the numbers ... figure out what it'd cost to outfit a gym of that size, and how long it'd take to recover the start up costs." He stared back at her, then slowly nodded. "But ... yeah. Yeah, if you're sure, I'd be interested." Grayson frowned at Daniel. "Wouldn't you have to have a staff to run it? I mean, you have your business already, and you seem pretty busy doing that." Davis nodded. "Yeah. You're already jamming, pretty much all the time bro." He shook his head. "Not sure how you'll manage it." Saul smiled. "Yeah ... this was my contribution." He looked at Martha and she nodded at him. Saul continued. "You'd need help. For sure. And it's pretty lucky that you already know someone local in the industry." His eyes shifted over to Davis. "Someone who could manage the space, and even train his own clients there too." Davis and Daniel turned from Saul and both looked at one another, both now thinking furiously. "Would ... would you wanna hire me for something like this?" Davis asked. I could tell he was interested just from how intensely he looked at Daniel. Daniel's eyes shifted as he thought. Then he slowly nodded. "Yeah." He looked at Davis and then at Grayson. "For it to really work, I'd need you both." He took a breath and shook his head. "Okay, confession time - Martha knows I've wanted my own gym space for years. And I don't want to push you guys into something you don't wanna do, or aren't ready to do." He licked his lips. "So, I'm asking ... are we really gonna do this? Everybody. Are we all on board with this?" Davis smirked. "Daniel man, I respect the hell out of you. If anybody can do it you can." Then he looked around the kitchen island. "Especially with this crew in your corner." He nodded. "Yep. I'm on board." Grayson nodded. "Whatever you need done, you guys have earned my help and you'll get it. Count me in." "Whatever I can do to help, I'll do it." I said and smiled at Daniel. Saul and Anna both nodded too. Daniel smiled and looked around the island. His eyes stopped on Martha and it broadened into a grin. "Looks like we're going to need to take a trip to your building soon. I need to see it, and see if it'll work." Martha nodded a satisfied expression on her face. "Good. If it won't work, then that's all right. But I do think it will." She raised the remains of her spring roll. "To partnerships." The rest of us echoed her, and we broke into little groups and chatted about the possibilities while Martha took dinner out of the oven. Roasted veggies, Martha's meatloaf, a spinach salad, and brown rice made up dinner. It all smelled and looked fantastic. I selfishly hoped it'd work out to have Martha continue to perform her duties as Daniel's housekeeper/cook. The remaining spring rolls were farmed out to everyone as well. We all dug in. And of course, it was delicious. The meal ended. Everyone but Martha and Saul changed to our swim trunks and bathing suits. They both cleaned up the mess left in the kitchen. For the rest of us it was out to the hot tub. Grayson sighed and his face took on an expression of utter contentment as he got in, and the hot water began to work on his body. "Unnnn ..." he blinked slowly. "I really need this." Davis sat beside him in the tub and grinned. He threw his arm around Grayson and the thin man leaned into him. Anna sat on the other side and Davis gave her a kiss as he put his arm around her as well. The three of them looked pretty happy and satisfied. Soon Martha and Saul joined us. We sat in the tub and all relaxed, socialized, and shared our excitement about the building project. That's when Daniel brought up Grayson's training. "So ... Wayne and Martha." He turned to look at us in turn. "After doing Grayson's session I wondered if you'd both be able to assess him for maybe learning some Shotokan or Krav Maga." He glanced at Grayson. "I think he'd pick up either pretty quickly, just based on how fast he caught onto the form for all of the exercises." Martha looked from Daniel to Grayson. "You interested in learning?" Grayson nodded. "Yeah. I mean ... I can't really afford it right now, but I'd like to see if it's something I might want to try down the line. Maybe a trial little thing, then when I can afford it I'll pay for the class? That work?" Martha waved a hand, unconcerned with the money. "I've never instructed apart from family members." She smiled. "It'd be a good test case for me. Consider it doing me a favor." Grayson smiled back. "Well, that'd be great Martha. I'd appreciate it." She only nodded. "I'd be happy to show you a few things too. Just to see if Shotokan agrees with you more, or maybe if you'd want to try both." I shrugged. "Anytime you want to come over in the evenings or on weekends we could do some training. It'd help keep me sharp too." Grayson nodded. "Thanks Wayne." Then I realized what Martha had said. That she had only trained family. I narrowed my eyes in thought. I knew she had done some training with Daniel. Basic stuff, yeah. But still, it's not like Martha to speak imprecisely. I filed it away as something to ask about later. Soon we were all pretty well done in the tub, and we got out. Grayson stretched on the deck and smiled. "Ahhhh ... much better." He turned to Daniel. "Thanks for the suggestion and the invite. It was really nice." Daniel nodded in response. "No problem Grayson." Then he smirked. "Hope you're ready to get the upper half sore tomorrow." Grayson groaned then laughed. We all filed inside and got changed into our dry clothes. By this time it was after 8 and we were all settling into evening mode. Grayson, Anna and Davis bid goodbye and they left to head home. Martha and Saul quickly retired to the cottage and Daniel and I went to bed. Daniel climbed in under the covers, and lay to watch as I got undressed. His eyes took me in, and his lips pulled into a smile. I had questions for him ... but now wasn't really the time so I returned his smile and crawled in. He immediately scooted into and pressed himself against me. We lay on our sides, chest to chest, and we both had as much skin as possible against one another. His hands rubbed up and down my back, from my head down to my rear, and his face moved against my neck. It caused my skin to tingle, and I took great pleasure from his simple touch. We both responded predictably to the contact, but neither of us seemed to be in a rush to do anything about it. Instead we lay and petted, kissed, smelled, and loved on the other for quite some time. Finally I pushed him onto his back and climbed on top. I slowly began to grind my hips into his and I smiled. Daniel reached up, put a hand behind my head and drew me in for a kiss. We made out, and I continued my slow motion grinding. He pulled away and his head dropped back on the pillow. He exhaled in short panting breaths, and I knew he would be able to get off this way. "Want me to keep going?" I watched his face as his pleasure rolled. He nodded and wet his lips with his tongue. I kept the same pace, and my teeth found his neck. I latched on gently and sucked his skin into my mouth, just a bit. He inhaled and his jaw dropped. I worked my teeth up and down just a little and he made a groaning noise. The slow pace of my hips was the only reason he hadn't gotten off yet, but even that wouldn't hold him off for long. At this point I was nearing completion as well. Tasting, kissing, touching, and the friction of rubbing against him all pushed me to finish. But Daniel was going to beat me to it. I could feel his skin flexing against my chin from where I bit him, and there was a vibration from his throat as he moaned. I pulled back so I could watch his face, and kept my hips going. His expression is always so amazing as he's getting off. His mouth opened slightly and his eyes locked onto mine. He grunted, and pulled me back to him. We kissed as he got off, and his eyes rolled back in his head. The new slickness from his come, and the smell of it helped me along, and I added to the mess with a groan around his mouth as we kissed. Soon I lay still, my head down against his neck. I heard him smile and his hands rubbed my back as I lay on top of him. I raised myself up, kissed my lover, and I got up for a towel. We both wiped semi clean, and then I pulled him to me. Soon he was asleep, and I stared at his beautiful face. I can't believe how lucky I am. And instead of wasting time sitting up and journaling, I'm gonna lay back down with this man. Till next time. Daniel 18 January 2018, Thursday 535 PM Daniel's Place Wayne gets home and he pokes his head into my office as I finish up a new routine I designed. He smiles at me. "Hey." I turn and he steps up, puts his hand behind my head and gives me a sweet lingering kiss. My brain lights up with all sorts of emotion and desire. We part and I rub his face. For a minute I just stare at him. "What have you done to me?" His eyes crinkle as he smiles. "Same thing you've done to me Mr. Ison." He kneels in front of me and he puts his head in my lap. He sighs and seems to be content to simply stay there. I stroke his black curly hair and he closes his eyes. It's almost painful, to feel so much for someone, and not really be able to express it. Not really. Not fully. I struggle with it sometimes. But all I can do is try. He shifts and rolls his head to look at me. "How was your day?" I continue petting him. "Good. Got a lot done. Had six in-person sessions today!" I shake my head. "That's the most I've ever done in a day. I'm lucky most were at Healthsport., and I didn't have to run all over to meet up with clients." He smiles at me, then the expression changes to something curious. "Daniel. I'd like to ask you a few questions. Stuff about you and Martha. Is that all right?" I feel ... I don't know ... something close to fear and resignation. He deserves to know, though I hate dragging it up. He must have caught the look on my face. "You don't have to." Disappointment flashes across his features, for just a moment. Then he squashes it. "I'll go see what's for dinner." He starts to push himself to his feet. "Wait." He stops and looks at me. I take a breath and meet his eye. "There are some things Martha has to tell you, and not me. But other than that ... okay. Ask away." After a moment Wayne settles back between my feet on his knees. "Okay. Well, first I want to know how you met. And then how you became so close." Yep, this was going to be a real whopper of a night. I draw in a breath. "First I have to go back farther. Back to my childhood." I rub my face and try to work out how best to tell what amounts to a pretty sad story. "So, I was born in Kentucky. As rural, and as backward as you can get too. Well, early childhood was pretty fun, and not bad at all. I mean, I was like everybody else there, and so it was good." Wayne's brown eyes are locked on my face, and he watches me as I tell my story. I look into those steady orbs and I keep going. "That is, till I realize I'm different. I figured out I liked boys at the age of 11. And let me tell you, rural Kentucky is not the place for that." Wayne kisses my hand and I go back to stroking his head. "Anyway. It wasn't long before my parents found out. And that's when my father began beating me." I shrug sadly at Wayne's horrified expression. That wasn't the worst part of it. "My mom wasn't very happy about it either. But ... she loved me. And she was terrified that my father would end up killing me." "She had a brother in California, my uncle Jessie. Well, she asked him if I could come stay with him for a while. She didn't tell him the real reason. I don't know what it was she made up. But he agreed, and at eleven years old I was sent by bus to San Diego California." "I didn't have much money. Mom gave me what she could - just enough to buy a meal a day. I was hungry, but I somehow made it in one piece and unharmed. I arrived at the bus station in San Diego, and my uncle was there. He picked me up, and we headed to his house." I smile. "It was okay for a while. Uncle Jessie was good to me. He'd always wanted kids, and I think he liked having me around." "I enrolled in school that fall. And I met a whole new crop of students. Most made fun of me because of my really thick appalachian accent. But ... there was this one girl, this quiet, brown girl who didn't." I smile at Wayne. "Martha and I became something of a pair. We stuck together, became pretty good friends." My eyes fall and I stare at the floor beside Wayne. "I guess I didn't know good of a friend she was back then. Not at first." "My twelfth birthday rolled around. And my uncle and I were celebrating. He had even made a cake for me. Yeah, it was out of a box ... but still. It meant a lot to me." I frown, the memory still sharp and still clear. "I blew out the candles, but before I did I made a wish. There was this boy at school named Nathan. And I wished he would be my boyfriend. Out loud ..." "My uncle's face ... I'll never forget it. It went from smiling and happy to dead and emotionless. `You're a fag?' He stood up. And ..." I swallow. "I tried to walk it back, but it was too late. He literally threw me out of the house, and then threw the cake out the door onto the ground." I draw a breath. "And that's the last time I saw my uncle Jessie. Or any of my family." Wayne shakes his head. "God ... I'm sorry Daniel." His eyes tell me that he'd take this from me if he could. That alone helps. I nod at him. "Well, at this point I was a homeless 12 year old boy in San Diego. While I wandered I somehow stumbled into a hostel and the owner took pity on me. He let me have a bed for the weekend, and a shower. But the place was scary. There were guys there who looked at me in a way I knew wasn't good. And I didn't sleep well." "I went to school on Monday. School was the one safe thing I had. I was still in my grubby clothes from Friday, when I was tossed out of the house. Martha noticed. She asked what was going on, and I just spilled it all to her. Up till then I hadn't cried. But telling her seemed to unlock that particular flood gate, and it all just came out." "Anyway ... school let out. And I was trying to figure out where I was going to spend the night. I was afraid of the hostel, and I didn't want to go back. Martha asked me to walk her to the corner where her dad always met her after his work. So we walked a few blocks and we sat on a bench at the corner. Pretty soon an old beat up clunker of a car pulls up, and Martha took me by the hand." "Rapid fire Spanish between father and daughter. And she's standing there, hand locked on mine. Antonio kept looking at me, then back to Martha. Then after a bit he nodded. `You jump in.' He patted the seat. `Come on.'" "Martha smiled at me, and ... I did it. I got into the car with her, and off we went." I laughed. "Best choice I'd made in a while. Antonio took us to their tiny apartment, and I still remember - he made us quesadillas. Then while Martha and I ate he got on the phone. I heard him call a number of people. Most of the conversations were in Spanish, and I didn't understand at the time. But the last one was in English. He had found my uncle." "Antonio looked at me as he spoke to Jessie. I know my uncle told him about me. Antonio frowned a moment, and I thought it was because I liked a boy. So I sat there ... terrified that it was just going to happen all over again. But as he stared at me he said into the phone `You're a disgrace. And God will judge you.' Then he hung up." My eyes well up remembering it. "Ah, I've never heard anything so sweet in my life." I swipe at my eyes and Wayne does the same. "I don't remember too much of them, but over the next few weeks there were some legal proceedings after. I was considered abandoned by my family, and entered into the foster care system. Thanks to his financial circumstances, Antonio had next to no chance of actually adopting me - though he was willing to do so. But nobody really counted on the sheer stubbornness I displayed. I was placed repeatedly with other families and I repeatedly ran away. Poor Antonio. I know he felt awful, but he did as he was supposed to do, and each time I showed up at their door he'd let me spend the night. Then he'd call and they'd pick me up the next day." "They finally recommended he be allowed to foster me." I smile. "And after a probationary period he was allowed to adopt. Antonio is my dad. He's not my father, but he's my dad." I nod at Wayne. "And that's why Martha and I are so close." I shrug. "We grew up together. She's my sister." Wayne looks at me, and I can see all the pieces falling into place in his mind. "I ... wow." He shakes his head. "I had no idea." He smiles. "Wow Daniel. Thank you for telling me." His face falls. "I'm so sorry all that happened to you." I shrug. "I wouldn't be here if it hadn't. I wouldn't have met Martha. And Wayne ..." I stand and I pull him up with me, "I would never have met you." I push an errant lock of hair off his forehead. "And that would be the greatest tragedy I could possibly imagine ever to befall me." I stare into his eyes. "Every moment of pain I've ever had is worth enduring all over again, because it brought me here. To this moment." My eyes again fill, and I let them. "I love you so much. I wish there was a way I could let you FEEL it. So that you could know." Wayne's eyes glitter and he pulls me close. He puts his lips on my neck and he kisses the skin there. "I do know. I know because I feel it too." He leans back and wipes his face. We both do, and we laugh. "Ugh, I've never cried so much in my life!" I grin at him. "Yeah. Me either." We leave the office and wander to the kitchen. Our arms are around one another's waists, and Wayne leans into me as we walk. Martha and Saul are in the kitchen, and they're plating dinner for the evening. We walk in and we have our seat at the island. Ever since Wayne has been here we use the kitchen table only rarely. The island seems to suit us better now. Martha looks at us and frowns for a split second. "Everything okay?" Wayne nods. "Yeah." He looks at me and smiles. "Yeah, everything's fine." We all sit. Martha and Saul are comfortably close to one another, and he periodically smiles at her. I can tell he is in love with her. I could tell even before Wayne told me about the moment he witnessed between them. It has been hard in a way to watch, just as it has probably been hard on Martha to watch Wayne and I grow close. I mean ... she's mine. But now I have to share her. Though as I watch them, and I spend time with them I realize how right they are for one another. It makes me far happier for her than I could ever be sad for myself. As I think about it Martha looks up at me, and the frown returns. "Okay, what's up?" She narrows her eyes. "You're acting weird." Her eyes flick to Wayne. "You both are." Wayne and I both grin at the same time. "I'm just glad we're all here." I say, and I mean it. "Honestly Martha." She still frowns, but she seems to accept that. We eat our dinner, and I feel so lucky to be here. I sit in the presence of family, love and friendship. I can't ask for more.
