"No, I suppose not." He turned back toward the cabin and left John to his chopping. He cleared the brush out of the trough and discovered a washboard conveniently placed inside the tub. He also found a short hose practically buried in the grass next to it. On a hunch, he looked back at the cabin and noticed the window above the sink was right there. Of course. He knew without uncoiling the hose that it was going to be the perfect length for filling it from the pump in the kitchen. Now, if onlyÉ Yep, there it was. A small lever for opening the window from the outside protruded out of one lower corner of the window frame. They thought of everything! This time, however, despite a lot of fiddling and trying, said latch did not function properly. Andrew brought the hose inside with him, and, after a little rummaging around in the drawers, found an adapter to secure the hose to the waterspout. When he reached up to open the window, he found the reason for his failure to open it from outside: he had been thwarted by a locking latch on the inside that disabled the exterior release. With a chuckle to himself, he unlatched the mechanism and pushed the bottom edge out a bit to feed the hose through the opening. He also found the water he had set in the fireplace boiling merrily, so he brought that back out with him when he went to aim the hose. He set the piping hot pot on some nearby rocks to make sure he didn't accidentally ignite the knee-high grass and turned back to the trough. What was the best way to do this? He couldn't very well see how much water to pump from inside and he was a bit too short to reach through the window and pump from outside. Or was he? He looked around and found an old stump nearby that he wheeled into place under the window. When he stood on it, he found that with a stretch, he could indeed pump the handle through the window. He propped the tub up on one end and started pumping water to rinse out as much dirt as he could before he set it back down flat and dumped the hot water into it. Then he pumped some fresh water in with it. When it seemed about right, he tested the temperature and decided it was good enough. He grabbed the dirty bed clothes and got to work drubbing them up and down the washboard like he had seen them do on old west TV shows and movies. He had no idea what he was doing really, but the change of pace was still a novelty, so it was all good. When he felt he had done a decent job of scrubbing it clean, he started thinking about how he was going to dry it. Like an idiot, that thought had never occurred to him until this moment. He wasn't worried at all really, though: everything seemed to have been considered up to now, and he saw no reason to believe they had forgotten about drying laundry. There was no obvious clothesline strung up that he could spy, but then he saw the telltale roll shape attached to back of the house of a 50's-era clothesline reel. He managed to get it to release the line, so he attached that to a nearby tree and went back to the wet sheets in the tub. He rinsed them off and wrung them out before he drained the trough of the dirty water. He did two more rinse-and-wrings before he finally heaved the masses onto the line and stretched them all out along the line. It was just starting to get dark by the time Andrew was finished, and he had worked himself into a decent sweat. He doubted the sheets would dry before the sun went down, but he couldn't think of anything to do besides leave them out until they wereÑovernight, if necessary. He realized he hadn't seen John since his foray into the forest and wondered how he was faring. Either way, Andrew knew they would want some hot water before long, so he made his way back into the cabin. He fed the fire, refilled the pot with water, hung it over the hearth, and then ventured back outside to check on his Mr. Perfect. He found him nearly where he had left him earlier, but he had long since finished his chopping and was industriously stacking the wood in a row along one edge of the clearing. He had put his shirt back on, Andrew noted with a twinge of disappointment. Of course, it was notably cooler than it had been earlier, and Andrew was not about to remove his own, so he couldn't blame John for that. Andrew pitched in to help with the last of it, and they were done pretty quickly. This was a good thing because daylight was nearly gone by now. As they made their way through the blackening brush back to the cabin, Andrew noticed how much darker it seemed here than what he was used to. "Man, it really gets dark out here at night, doesn't it?" "Yeah, it's funny how that works in the woods where there's no street lampsÑ" John started when he was interrupted with a punch on his shoulder. "Hey!" "Hey yourself," Andrew retorted. "What?" "Nothing." "Um, okay," John said uncertainly, wracking his brain to figure out what the punch was for. "What's for dinner?" Andrew asked. "I'm hungry." "I brought stuff to make spaghetti or hobo dinners. And I also have a stash of some canned stew and stuff in the Jeep," John replied. "What are you in the mood for?" "That all sounds good right now, but you are picking this time, remember?" "Oh yeah," John agreed. "In that case, let's make hobo dinners since the ingredients for the other stuff can last longer." "Great!" replied Andrew as they came in sight of the cabin once again. "Is the food all still in the Jeep?" "Yeah." "Okay," said Andrew as they marched right past the cabin and back out to where they had parked the Jeep. John opened the appropriate utility boxes to pull out what they needed and split the load between the two of them. "Do we need to bring in the stuff for the other meals too?" "Nah, they're better out here in the boxes. One of them is a makeshift cooler with Blue Ice in it, and there's no reason to clutter up the cabin with them or tempt the wildlife with food laying around. These boxes seal up pretty well, so they're good out here." "Fair enough!" They trudged back to the cabin and after stoking the fire, they set about cutting up the veggies, meat, and potatoes and packing them into aluminum foil along with a healthy dose of seasonings. John nestled them down into the well-developed coals while Andrew made some hot chocolate. "Mmm," John said after tasting his. "That hits the spot!" "I agree! Is there anything else that needs doing while we wait for dinner to cook?" "Indeed there is. We both worked up a sweat out there today and I think we should clean up." "Now? Really?" "Well yeah. Why not?" "It's dark outside!" "What's wrong with that? Were you planning to put on a show for me?" John asked with a twinkle in his eye. "No, but how will we see what we are doing?" "I was thinking we could do it by touch, actually." "And the water's cold." "You do have a point there, but I can stand a little bit of that if it means being clean. I suppose if you can't, we could drive down to the facilities. It's dark, but not too far and you will have all the amenities you need." Andrew thought for a moment. He in no way relished the idea of a cold shower in the dark, but John was here so he wouldn't be alone. More than that, John had sounded a bit taken aback at Andrew's reticence. He betrayed no trace of disappointment in Andrew, just surprise. That suddenly made Andrew a little embarrassed, and in an effort not to lose face with John, he quickly made up his mind. "I suppose I can survive a cold shower if it's short." "That's my boy!" Andrew grinned back at him. It didn't have much feeling behind itÑhe really hated being coldÑbut Andrew hoped it was genuine enough to suffice. John grabbed a big bowl out of the cupboard and poured what remained of the hot water into it. After he refilled it and replaced the pot over the hearth, he tossed some soap to Andrew to carry out and then led the way back outside with the bowl of hot water. The light from the window was enough for them to make their way through the darkness until they stopped right below it. John opened the window with the little release Andrew had previously discovered and propped the window open. John then unclipped a metal rod from underneath the windowsill that Andrew hadn't noticed earlier and stuck it through the window and into the water pump handle. "Oh!" exclaimed a surprised Andrew. "What?" "I didn't see that earlier." "My bad: I didn't think of showing you how all this works, did I? How did you wash the bedding?" "I figured out the window release and found the hose, but I didn't see the rod for pumping the water. I found a stump to stand on and reached through the window to pump it by hand." "Resourceful scout that you are," John chuckled. "Well done!" "Thanks, though I think I still have a couple slivers from leaning through the window," Andrew chuckled. "Want me to suck those out for you?" "If you wouldn't mind, yes," said Andrew with a laugh. "I happen to know you are good at sucking things out." "I do try, you know." "I do!" John pumped some fresh water into the steaming bowl he had brought out until it was cooled down a little bit and then turned to Andrew. "So here's the plan: we rinse off just enough to get wet, then we soap up with the warm water. Once we are done with that, we will do as quick a rinse as we can that gets the soap off, `kay?" "Sounds good, though I forgot to grab washcloths. Hold on a sec." Andrew was back in a moment, and they quickly shucked their clothes in preparation. "Ready?" "As I'll ever be." "Alright, let's do this." Andrew braced himself and John sprayed him down. "Dance around a bit and turn around," John instructed. "That way I can get all of you." Andrew did as instructed, adding jumping jacks and a spin just because before John passed him the hose to have himself doused as well. They each dipped their washcloths in the warm water and started to wash themselves off before naturally switching strategies to wash each other off instead. It was too cold to be sexy and develop into more as it usually did, but they both enjoyed it for what it was. In no time, they were ready for the rinse. "Okay, brace yourself," John warned. "Hit me baby one more time!" cried Andrew with a laugh. Once again, John sprayed down his cavorting partner before trading places with him at the end of the hose. "Oh man!" exclaimed Andrew once they were finished. "We forgot towels too!" "Grab our clothes while I rinse this bowl out and then we'll go in where it's warm." No sooner said than done and they were inside again. The cabin felt wonderfully warm and cozy after being wet outside. They toweled off quickly, but Andrew was still shivering a bit, so John had him sit on the bear skin rug in front of the fire and John sat down right behind him and wrapped his arms and legs around him. It didn't take Andrew long to warm up completely after that. Of course, the skin-on-skin factor had its natural result, and Andrew was hard before he was warm. He could feel John in the same state behind him as he was being prodded at the base of his spine by John's thick hot poker. But both cocks were largely ignored for now. "Think dinner is ready yet?" Andrew asked. "No, not yet," chuckled John. "But almost." "Hmm," Andrew responded. He was so happy again that he felt like he was going to start purring. He covered John's hands with his own and leaned back against the man holding him. Yes, he would definitely be purring if he were a cat. John nuzzled his ear and neck while they sat enjoying the fire together. Andrew was enjoying this so much that he didn't want to ruin the vibe by speaking, so they just sat there holding each other in a comfortable silence. Eventually, John had to interrupt their cuddling to check on dinner. After stirring himself by kissing Andrew's neck again and stroking his chest for a bit, John slowly pulled back, stood up, and stepped closer to the fire so he could pull out the food and check on it. Every move was taken in by Andrew's hungry eyes: John's furry butt clenching and unclenching as he walked forward. The tension and release in John's legs as he moved. John's dangling balls that came into view and nearly fell on the floor as he squatted in front of the fire. The rippling of his arm muscles as he stirred the fire and moved things around. Andrew sighed in contentment. "What's wrong?" Asked John, turning toward him at the sound of the sigh. "Absolutely nothing. I was just thinking how perfect this is." "You're always surprising me! We don't even have electricity here!" "Oh, not the cabinÑthough I do kind of like its rustic charm. I'm talking about being here with you with no hassles of schedules or to-do lists or anyone else around." "I'm liking it too," John agreed. "It wouldn't be hard to talk me into living like this the rest of our lives." "I don't know about that, but I love how this particular place puts all that into the periphery." "Oh wow! `Periphery?' I can't think of the last time I heard someone actually use that word in conversation!" "Well it fits." "It does fit perfectly," John agreed. "And speaking of perfectly, I think I'm going to say dinner is ready. It's actually just a little shy of perfect, but I can't wait anymore. And if I did, I'm certain I would get distracted until well after it's burned to a crisp." "What makes you say that?" "I know you and I know me. And I know how to read the signs," he said, gesturing to his crotch as he turned toward Andrew a little more. His hard cock was leaking precum, and Andrew subconsciously licked his lips. "See? That's what I'm talking about! Now come get your food before we go to bed hungry!" "Yes sir," Andrew answered brightly. The hobo dinner was good enough that they both devoured it with gusto. John was right about not being quite finished cooking: the carrots and potatoes were still a little hard, but not enough that it slowed them down in the least. Andrew wasn't sure whether John really was this good at seasoning or whether he had worked up such an appetite today that anything would taste amazing. He decided he would give the credit to John. "That was excellent," Andrew said after he had finished. "Thanks!" said John. "Old family recipe, you know: meat, veggies, seasonings, and a big hearth full of coals!" "I'm sure," Andrew replied drolly. "Still sleepy?" "Yeah, actually. I don't know why though." "Think it might be the manual labor today? We did get a lot done." "Maybe that's it. All I know is I am beat." "I hear you. But I also can't get enough of this fire." "Me neither," Andrew murmured. "Let's lay out by the fire tonight. We can always retreat to the bed later if we want to." "I'm all for that!" Andrew agreed. "Cool. Why don't you lay out sideways in front of it so you don't burn your head or feet." "But I don't want to hog all the heat from you." "Have you seen me lately? I generate enough heat on my own that I don't really need it." "If you say so..." Andrew said doubtfully. "I do, now lay down." "Okay, okay, calm down. Sheesh!" Andrew lay out as instructed on the bristly bear rug. It proved interesting. If you rubbed it one direction, it was very pokey, but in the other direction it was just like petting a dog. He wondered if his smooth skin highlighted the textures or if it would have felt the same if he hadn't been shaved smooth. He was pretty sure it would still feel rough regardless. A few moments later, though, John laid down behind him. He put one arm under Andrew's head and the other wrapped around his waist, pulling him close. As they drew closer together, Andrew noticed John's fur was soft and springy and begged to be snuggled into. So he did. And promptly fell asleep. ********* Check out my other posts!
