Now that that's out of the way, sit back and enjoy! +++ The night before was crazy. It was the first official day of the new year and everyone was spending it in bed sleeping. It seemed as if the entire city slept in except for the few dragging and pushing long brooms, gathering the confetti and plastic cups thrown on the street floor from the heavy party goers the night before. Even though cleaning was going on, the street was opened for the commuters to get to and from their destinations, the city once again had blood pumping through it's veins. People littered the streets, walking passed each other like corpses heading back to their hell known to some as nine to five jobs inside a crammed office space. They looked as if they had been brainwashed to forget the fun and excitement they had the day before. The apartment was quiet, the clocks hands ticking could be heard clearly across the entire place yet soft enough to allow everyone to remain in the comforting slumber they lay in. Maggie and Peter lay in bed together, Peter's arm over Maggie's body, keeping her safe. Jake slept in the extra bed on the opposite side of the room, his gentle snoring only audible to himself. He stirred for a moment and awakened from his sleep to the sound of traffic in the distance then turned over to face Peter and his sister. He noticed that they were still sleeping and decided to close his eyes again; not wanting to be the first one to awaken. Jake felt like he'd been sleeping for what felt like hours but really only twelve minutes. Frustrated by his lack of sleep, Jake stood up off the bed carefully; trying not to make it squeak much then opened the bedroom door, pulling it towards him slowly. He stepped into the short hallway leading into living room and kitchen to grab a drink of water to satisfy his dry mouth. He was surprised to see Kate up and about inside her small kitchen, pulling out ingredients from the large steel refrigerator propped up on the wall next to the long granite counter top and sink. "What are you doing awake so early?" Jake asked Kate, stepping up on the small platform made for the kitchen area. "I thought I'd get breakfast ready for you guys so when you wake up the food will still be warm." Kate replied, mixing the freshly spilled eggs around in the hot skillet. The sound of eggs sizzling and becoming solid emanated through the apartment, seeping through the walls and causing Peter to walk out of the guest room and into the other half of the house with Jake and Kate. "Oh, sorry. Was I too loud?" Kate asked innocently. "No, no, it's fine. The smell of eggs woke me up." Peter smiled sweetly, scratching his lower back and sitting on one of the chairs surrounding the large wooden table. "Is Maggie still sleeping?" Jake asked. "No, she's up. I think she's changing though." Just then Maggie joined the others, tugging down her blouse and fixing her hair. "Good morning." She yawned and kissed Peter on the head then walked to Jake and playfully pinched his sides. "Morning." Jake flinched, half smiling. "Good morning, do you want some breakfast?" Kate asked, turning the flame on the stove down and reaching to grab plates from the wood and glass cupboards. "Yes please." Maggie went and sat besides Peter while Jake walked to Kate and helped her serve up the food. "So..." Peter started as a plate of steamy breakfast was being placed in front of him. "Last night was fun." "It was amazing!" Kate said, sitting down and placing the white fabric napkin on her lap. Jake did the same when he sat down. "Great atmosphere, great people." "Did you get any sleep? You were up really early and we left the club at around, what, two or two-thirty." Jake tilted the big glass filled of fresh orange juice over and poured everyone a full glass. He slid the last glass of juice to Maggie and started to eat. "The clock in my head always goes off early so waking up is no problem." Kate said, pushing the fork holding a bit of eggs and ham into her mouth. "You're lucky." "I'm just so used to waking up at a specific time." After everyone finished eating breakfast, Kate and Maggie decided to have a girls day out while Jake and Peter stayed in the large apartment; watching television in the living room. "How was it?" Peter asked, never taking his eyes off the television screen. "What?" "Kissing Kate." He looked at Jake and smiled. "You guys were really going at it last night." "We were not." "Yeah, you were. I looked away once and five minutes later I saw you two still sucking face. It was disgusting." "Fuck you." Jake giggled. "How was it." "I don't know, it was good, I guess." "Yeah? So can we officially say Jake and Kate are an item?" "Don't get ahead of yourself." Jake took the remote from Peters hands and started to flip through the channels. "It was a new years kiss." "Well can we at least admit that I did a good job?" Peter joked, taking back the small remote. "A good job on what?" Jake laughed. "Hey, I brought you two together, remember?" "Yeah, okay, man. What ever you say." Jake chuckled, letting Peter believe what ever he wanted to believe. The next morning, everyone got up early to get their things down and into the taxi car waiting out on the curb. It was Jake, Maggie and Peter's last day in New York and they had to be heading back to Los Angeles to get back to their normal lives. "Everything packed, nothing left up in the apartment?" Kate asked after the cars trunk was slammed shut by the driver. "Yep, everything's here and ready to go." Maggie replied, throwing her small purse into the taxi's back seat. "Thanks for everything, Kate. You've been really welcoming and hospitable." "It's not problem at all. You guys are like my seconds family so when ever you want to come back to New York just give me a call and I'll make room." "Well when, ever you want to go back to L.A. let us know and you can stay with us at the house." Jake added. He smiled politely and nodded, getting his point across. "Okay, sounds good. Maybe I'll take you up on that offer. I have to go to L.A. in a few weeks to oversee the construction of the office I'm moving into." Said Kate. "Great, we'll keep a bed warm for you." "Jake will keep his bed warm for you." Peter spoke under his breath, he was only heard by Jake who was standing right besides him. Jake turned to Peter in dismay, stunned by his comment. He was relieved that he was the only one to hear what Peter announced and gently shoved Peter away with his arm. "Well, we have to get going if we want to make the flight so thanks again." Maggie hugged Kate then Jake and Peter followed behind. They got into the yellow car and sent out one last wave then shut the door and the driver drove off. Kate stood on the sidewalk, watching the taxi ride off into the distance, finally disappearing around the corner. Upon arriving in LAX Airport, the threesome got their things from the large merry-go-round of luggage and went through the hassle of having their things scanned and checked by the metal detectors. Maggie and Peter left Jake to get his things from the security guards to meet their driver outside. Jake managed to take his things soon and walked through the sliding doors with the "EXIT" sign above. As soon as he stepped onto the concrete floor, Jake was rushed by three photographers snapping pictures of him as he tried to walk to the car Maggie and Peter were now inside of. "Jake! Jake!" They yelled, trying to get him to look up and snap a picture of his face. "Jake, where are you coming from?" One of the men asked, looking over his camera. Jake stayed quiet and continued on his way past the paparazzi, his feet picking up pace with every flashing light bulb. Jake got inside the auto and closed the door. "Shit." Jake sighed. He was amazed at how different New York and Los Angeles were compared to each other. In New York nobody gave a rats ass who you were. They didn't care who you were or what you did for a living. All they knew was that you were just one of the many faces in their way as they tried to get to their jobs and homes. It was a big change and Jake told himself that one day he would move to New York to live out his life. +++ A month had come and passed quickly. It was Now February and Jake, Maggie and Peter were scheduled to show up at The Independent Spirit Awards shot at Santa Monica beach. On the day of the awards, Jake spent most of the morning working out at a secluded park near his house. After running for a an hour or two, he called it a day and went home to shower since he was covered in sweat and needed to get ready for his afternoon out. "It's about time!" Maggie howled in disturbed tone. She was dressed in a sea blue dress that went down to her knees, the bottom half was flowy and light. Also, a pair of black heels wrapped around her feet, making her seem a little taller than she already was. "Where have you been?" "I went jogging." Jake said, lowering his sunglasses down from his face and clipping them to his shirt. "What's the matter?" "You have to go get ready. Peter's going to be here any minute." "Maggie, relax. I'm going up to take a shower now." Jake moved to the stairs and placed his feet on the first step before turning back to face his sister. "Oh, can you call Steph to bring over the suit?" "Already did." Maggie cut him off, walking back into her bedroom. Jake continued on his way up to his room to clean off in the comfort of his shower. Once in the privacy of his room, Jake threw off his shirt damp with sweat and tossed it onto the floor while inching himself closer to the large white row of drawers pressed up against the back wall. He grabbed a fresh towel folded neatly in it's place and threw it over his shoulder. Before heading into the oversized bathroom decorated neatly and expensively, he slid his index and middle fingers in between his socks and foot then slid them off with ease, curling them into a ball and placing them into his running shoes. The tiles on the restroom floor felt like pins to Jakes feet, the shock of his warm feet touching the frigid cold floor sent chills up his legs. Jake placed the white linen over his shoulder onto the marble sink and lowered the blue shorts from his hips, allowing them to fall to his ankles. Jake kicked the shorts off and looked at himself in the enormous mirror before him, looking at his reflection and running a hand over his stomach. His muscular physique he had months before had started to wither down and it was very apparent to Jake. He curled his fingers around the waistband of his fitted boxers and pulled them down to his feet, pulling them off and sliding them over. After one last glance into the mirror, Jake bent down and started the water. The roaring of water hitting the porcelain shower bed sounded strongly, deafening all minor sounds in the room. After Jake finished showering, he stepped out from the bathroom and into his bedroom, not needing to cover up with the towel his left hand clung to. As he ruffled through his drawers; pulling out a thin under shirt and cargo shorts, there was a row of knocks on the door. "I'll be right out." Jake yelled. "Jake, Stephanie is waiting downstairs." "Shit." He whispered to himself, pulling up the shorts and clipping the buttons together and zipping up the zipper, not bothering with underwear. He rushed to the door, opened it and stepped out to meet his sister. "She's already here?" "Yes, come on." Maggie led the way downstairs and into the living room. Stephanie sat on the plush couch, sipping from a glass of water and setting it back down on the glass table in front of her. "Hey Steph." Jake said. She spun around and stood up to hug Jake, her petite arms wrapping around Jakes large frame. "Hi, how are you? Long time no see." "I know." "I love the shaved head, it looks really good. Very manly." Jake giggled and separated from Stephanie's hold. "Thank you." He replied. "Don't get too carried away with the compliments, Steph. His head could get bigger than it already is." Maggie teased. Jake jokingly placed his middle finger up to Maggie's face and smiled coyly. Maggie slapped his hand away and moved to sit down. "Is that the clothes?" Jake nodded to the long black body bag laid neatly over the couch. "Oh, yeah. I hope everything fits well." She handed the bag over to Jake and he took it in his arms. "Alright, I'm going to get dressed and I'll come back down in a few." Said Jake, stepping back. He went up to his room again and came down several minutes later, Peter had arrived only seconds before, dressed in dark gray slacks and a light gray dress shirt with it's first two buttons undone. "What do you guys think?" Jake asked, extending his arms out to his sides; allowing his friends and sister to see around him. "Wow, look at you looking all pretty." Peter joked. "I can say the same to you." "It looks really nice, Jake." Maggie added, a wide smile across her face. "Yeah? It's too formal don't you think? I mean, the show is going to be near the beach shouldn't I, like, be a little more casual?" "What are you thinking?" Stephanie asked. "I don't know. What if I wear dark jeans instead of slacks? Like dark blue jeans and a vest instead of the t-shirt." "That actually sounds like it would work." "Since when are you such a fashionista?" Peter asked. "Fuck off." Jake smiled. "No, do you have the vest and pants? It's too late to call someone to go look around the stores." Stephanie asked. "Yeah." "Oh, well let's see how it looks and we'll go from there." Jake went back up to his room to change for the last time. While he was away there was a knock on the front door. Peter got up then went to answer and was greeted by a short woman with a headset on her brown hair and a black zip up folder clutched tightly to her breasts. "Can I help you?" Peter asked, squinting from the sunlight sneaking into the house. "My names Elizabeth. I'm here to pick up Jake and Maggie Gyllenhaal and Peter Sarsgaard, I'm with IPS." "Oh, great. Come on in." Peter stepped aside and allowed Elizabeth to walk into the house. "We're all ready but we've got to wait for Jake to get done changing." The two walked into the living room right as Jake walked down the steps. "Oh yeah, I think this is going to work a lot better." Jake said. Everyone agreed and Elizabeth introduced herself. They all walked outside and to the stretch limo waiting at the base of the driveway after Stephanie said her goodbye. Jake, Maggie, Peter and Elizabeth got into the long dark car after Elizabeth handed them their laminated passes to the award ceremony then they were driven to Santa Monica. Upon arrival, Jake got out of the car first and made his way onto the blue carpet; Peter and Maggie were going to walk the carpet behind him. "Jake!" The photographers all yelled out in unison. Jake smiled and stood in place, letting the photographers take as many pictures possible. Elizabeth came over and leaned over to Jakes ear. "Start moving down so that everyone can take their pictures." Lisa whispered. Jake did as she said and moved down. After doing some interviews for television networks and stopping for more pictures, Jake moved directly into the building to be seated for the show. +++ Christian and Randy had spent a lot of time together. Through out the holidays they had become closer and even started dating. Work at the theatre had become stable and easy since most of the time renovations and make over were going due to the new year. Christian came out from the supply closet holding onto a banner that was folded up under his arm and ladder being carried behind him. He set the latter up against the wall leading up to one of the show rooms and cautiously stepped up to the top while carefully unraveling the banner and holding it over his head. "Shit." He hissed at himself. "I forgot the tape." Christian got down and went back into the utility closet to fetch the tape needed to decorate the hall. After taking it down from the tall shelf, he made his way back up the latter to do what needed to be done. Christian was almost done placing the banner with the faces of the characters in the upcoming movie when he felt two hands clutch onto his sides. Christian jumped and nearly fell back onto the floor but managed to catch his balance. He looked over and saw Randy standing behind him with a wide grin on his face. "Jesus Christ!" Christian said, irritated and slowly stepping down. "What are you trying to do?" "I'm sorry." Randy giggled. "You looked like you were having a hard time. It was cute." "Wouldn't have been so cute if I was laying unconscious on the floor right now." "Sorry." Randy apologized again, his grin becoming a smile and his eyes burning through Christian. "Come on, let me help you out." Randy got up on the latter and held the long banner up against the wall firmly. "Hand me some tape." They placed the picture on the wall and put the supplies back into the utility closet and went back to helping and cleaning the floors. After work, Christian stepped into the locker room occupied briefly buy one of his co-workers. He opened up his locker and stuck his hand inside, grabbing his clothes and bringing them into the bright lights. In the middle of changing, Randy walked in and started to mimic Christian in the process of getting out of his work clothes. After a long day of work, the two men head outside to find that the clouds that were once white were now stained with deep orange and reds from the suns rays rubbing off on them. Over in the distance was the enormous ball of fire burning brighter than ever, lowering itself behind the bed of glossy clouds laid out before it. The sky was split in two sections, the deep blue showing the evenings transformation to night and the orange red section following behind the suns tail. Christian stepped out of the sliding glass doors first but was followed by Randy close at his heels. They walked side by side to the parking lot sparsely covered by cars of all sizes, their owners crawling inside and slipping out to make their way inside the theatre. "Are you excited about next week?" Randy asked, taking his car keys from deep inside his pockets and inserting his finger into the circular ring, throwing the keys in a circle around his slender finger and catching them in his hands once again. "Three days all to ourselves." "Yeah, ourselves and a few others." Christian smiled and looked down at his fingers switching off one key with the next, finding the right one to open his car door. "Eh, either way we get some time alone." "Yeah, I know. I could use a little time off. Oh, did you talk to Mr. Anderson, is he 100% set on letting us go?" "Oh totally, he already scheduled Shaun and Mike to fill in for us." Randy said, wrapping his fingers around his hips and standing with one side of his hip higher than the other. "You do not have to worry about anything anymore." "I know, I just don't want a repeat of what happened when I used to work at the restaurant." Christian slid the single key into the key hole below the door handle and twist it around; the small mushroom shaped knob inside the car popped up on the other side of the glass. He opened the door and threw his backpack onto the backseat and stood up to face Randy again. Randy leaned forward and cupped Christians jaw in his firm hands, placing a gently kiss on his lips. "Everything is taken care of, relax." Christian smiled and sighed. He was happy to be reassured by Randy and knew things would turn out the way they were meant to so putting it all aside, Christian lowered Randy's hands away from his face and sat behind the steering wheel. Randy closed the car door and bent down to look through small window opening and said "Drive safe, I'll see you later." Christian smiled and nodded then started the engine. "I'll see you." Randy stepped back and Christian drove out of the parking lot and into the street. +++ The award show season officially kicked off with The Independent Spirit Awards showing on the IFC T.V. station. Since Christian was a big fan of independent movies, he and Ashley decided to make a night of watching the show along with some of their friends who were also movie buffs. "Christian! Hurry up, it's starting in a few minutes!" Ashley yelled out at Christian who was in the kitchen gathering snacks and drinks for everyone sitting in the living room. "Jesus Christ! I think you just woke up the entire neighborhood with that shriek of yours." Christian joked, walking into the oversized living room carrying a large bowl of pretzels in one hand and a liter bottle of soda in the other. He was careful not to trip over anyone as he cautiously stepped through the maze of arms, legs and bodies scattered around the tile floor. Christian placed the things on the small coffee table in the center of the room and sat himself down on the floor besides Randy who was sprawled out with a pillow under his head. "Good evening ladies and gentlemen and welcome to the 2005 Independent Spirit Awards honoring the independent movies of 2004." The man hosting the pre-show came over the television speakers as clips of the nominees came on screen. Everyone sat tight in their seats, awaiting to see who would arrive first and who would arrive with who. Anticipation ended when Michelle Trachtenberg was shown posing in front of the backdrop, flashes of light going off a mile a minute, Michelle never loosing the sweet smile on her face. For the next several minutes they showed clips from the nominated movies and interviews from the actors and directors. One of the movies they profiled was a movie named "Kinsey" where Peter Sarsgaard was one of the actors interviewed. His face came on screen and Christian smiled; it was one thing to see an actor on screen but it was another thing to see someone you knew on television. "Speaking of actors to look for this upcoming year, here's Peter Sarsgaard with companion Maggie Gyllenhaal looking incredibly stunning." The T.V. spoke again. Christian watched with a cheerful grin on his face as Maggie and Peter took turns talking to the reporter on the blue carpet. During the pre-show, Christian was feeling comfortable until he noticed a familiar face on the screen. It was Jake standing still before the sea of ruthless photographers. "Now here's an actor who has had several hits when it comes to independent movies. The one and only Mr. Jake Gyllenhaal. Now, an interesting fact about Jake is that when he was younger he had a starring role in Kenneth Lonergan's revival of This Is Our Youth in London's West End. He even received an Evening Standard Theatre Award in the 'Outstanding Newcomer' category." Christian shifted nervously on the floor, crossing and hitching his right ankle to his left. His heart began to pace faster, picking up speed and making the blood inside his body pump twice as fast. "Let's see what Jake had to say when we brought up a sore subject." "How does it feel to be a sex symbol?" Jake repeated the interviewers question and threw his head back to laugh. "Well I always knew I was sexy but now that others tell me I'm sexy then that makes me feel even sexier." Jakes answer was elate in sarcasm and humor as a childish smile appeared on his face. "He's so full of himself." Margarita, one of Ashley's close friends spoke softly. "No he's not." Ashley returned. "What ever happened to him, Chris?" Chills exploded all over Christians body when he heard Ashley ask him about Jake. He stayed quiet for a moment; thinking about what to say. "Uh, I don't know. Haven't talked to him in a while, we sort of got busy doing our own thing." Christian finally spoke, his face warm and his hands moist. They watched the rest of the pre-show onto the actual award ceremony but Chris couldn't get his mind off of Jake and the fact that a part of him did miss the comfort he felt around Jake but he surely wasn't about to admit that to himself; he was too stubborn. Two hours later, Christian was driven home by Randy and went straight up to his apartment, not stopping for anything. He advanced into the lonely dwelling, dropping his cote onto the couch and traversed into his bedroom, pulling his door shut along the way. Upon turning the bathroom lights on and standing in front of the mirror, ignoring his reflection, Christian began to think back about Jake. For some odd reason, the vision of Jake could, in no way, leave his head much like a stain or rash pestering his tender skin. He reached into his pants, not bothering with undoing the buttons of zipper and started to run his fingers along the top of his cock head; jolts pain laced in pleasure seeped into his veins, controlling all his senses. His penis grew bigger and bigger in his hands as his thoughts deceived him and continued to bring the shaved and handsome man into his head. "Ahhh." Christian shut his eyes and sighed. He snatched his own hand away and undid his pants, pushing them down to his shoes. He was standing bare from his waist to his ankles, his now excited cock pointing upwards and dripping small amounts of clear liquid that ran down in a straight line right under the helmet. Christian moved over and positioned himself next to the open toilet. With his right hand he gripped his stiff penis, wrapping his fingers around the warm shaft, slowly bringing the skin up and down and placing his hand under his shirt; grazing his fingers along his stomach. All the while his eyes fasten shut and his mouth open a bit, allowing small, warm breaths of air to escape his lips. Chris looked down at his hand working his cock and more of the clear fluid escaping. Seeing this made him more excited and brought his left hand up to his lips, sticking his tongue out and licking the tips of his fingers then bringing them down to rub onto his pink cock head. He was suddenly overcome by an arousing sensation being sent up his legs and back and back down to his feet. Christian pumped his fist faster, his fingers squeezing tighter around his prick. It was becoming too much for him to take so, bracing himself, he stroke and stroke until a pleasurable tingle formed in his thighs, traveling to his groin and buttocks. Christian watched his hands move faster, his wet cock becoming engorged and finally shooting long strands of semen into the toilet water. "Ahh, ahhh." He sighed uncontrollably, licking his lips; making them moist and slippery. When Christian finished, he flushed the water and stood silent, feeling shame for what he had just done and to the memories he had done it to. The water flushed and roared as it settled to it's normal level then more silence. He washed up and went back into his room to lay down. +++ Jake walked on the concrete floor with his hands buried deep into his pockets, his small Puggle named Boo walking joyfully at his side. It was a nice day in Los Angeles, as usual, so Jake had decided to take Boo out on an afternoon walk in the park. Jake lifted his head from watching his dog and noticed a man off in the distance kneeling, petting his own dog on the head and chest. He moved along with out thinking much of it and realized that the man he stared at was Christian, tossing a small ball out on the grassy field and waiting for Sargent to bring it back to him. Jake stopped for a moment, not knowing of what to do next. Should he go and say something or turn around and take Boo to a different place in the park? He repeated that question in his head for a few seconds; thinking it was time to make a move, Jake decided to go on and say hello. "Sargent, come on boy!" Jake heard Christian yell out. Jake inched his way closer, hoping he could get to him with out Christian seeing him first. "Come on Sargent." Jake stood behind Christian and spoke softly. "Hey Christian." Said Jake. Christian looked at Jake as if he was big foot; not believing who he was looking at. "Jake." Sargent pounced on Chris' legs with the ball clamped tightly in his mouth. "Hey." "Hey, how are you?" Jake smiled, waiting for Christian's next words to tumble out of his mouth. Their surroundings suddenly became strange and familiar all at once. Christian stared at those blue eyes that he had once become accustomed to a long time ago. +++ That was the latest addition to TGE. I hope you all liked it!
