This story is a fan ficition in this franchise universe, categorized under fan fiction. This story is obviously fiction. It's also PG-13, so... yeah. Probably won't offend anybody, but err, I guess you never know? Huh. Analias Part Two The moonlight crawled through the the sliver of the sliding paper door, silver midnight lighting the room with glitter. Ash opened his eyes to the gentle breathing of Pikachu next to his head, Dawn to his left, and Brock to his right. He got up slowly, scratching his hair. Ash stood up, stretching his arms and his legs. He saw the shaft of moonlight through the door, and walked to it. Quietly, so that no one would hear, Ash slid it open. He faced the beautiful prairie, the bold colors hushed and sleeping under a gorgeous full moon. He squinted his eyes- was there a shadow in the garden? There was. The shadow was Kai. Ash saw Kai squatting down, arms around his knees, and his face bathing in the gentle light. His eyes were closed, a look of perfect tranquility pasted on his face. Ash slipped on a pair of slippers and closed the door behind him with a hushed slide. He stepped down from the porch, and walked to where Kai was. Ash stood next to him, and Kai finally opened his eyes, not in the least surprised. He gave a glowering smile. Ash couldn't help but respond with another smile. He patted his hand on the ground next to him, offering Ash to sit down. He did, going down cross-legged and staring at the moon as well. Kai finally spoke, his voice smooth and contemplative. "Do you believe in life? In light? That these things are worth the world that we live in?" Ash looked down at his feet, folded over each other. He thought a little bit about what he said. "I know what I see. I believe what I see." Kai sighed. "You have seen much in your life, haven't you, Ash? Myself, I see a lot of things in your eyes. Things that have come, and yet to come as well... An electric romance... a dragon's dance...a rainbow bird heralds a neverending journey." Ash turned to him, his eyes wide and mouth agape. Kai was still gazing at the moon, his position not at all changed. "How did you... know? I've never told anyone that." "Well, Ash, knowing things is easy. What's harder is convincing people that you know." Kai leaned his head back further, closing his eyes again. Ash noticed something strange; Kai's normal dark brown hair in the silver light had turned blue and shiny. It was nearly alien. Kai opened his eyes again; Ash saw that his irises were no longer dark, but a fiery mix of red and orange. Kai peeked out of the corners of his eyes, and noticed Ash staring at him. He gave a sly smile. "Don't worry about the hair. Analia isn't contagious. Reece told you, right?" Ash nodded. "I'm sorry." Kai's smile disappeared. "Be sorry for them. They don't know. They can't know." He sighed again. "But sometimes I really wish they could." His crimson eyes met with Ash's, and he was mesmerized. "Why are you here?" Ash asked. Kai did not respond. He simply continued to take in the night, drinking up the watery light as if the aqueous stuff was what kept him alive. Ash's voice suddenly became drained of strength. "...Thank you, Kai. For letting us stay." Kai let a very faint, very restrained laugh escape, quiet enough to fit the floating quiet. He pointed up at the sky, at the points of light. "We see a lot of shooting stars here. If you're lucky, one will fall right before your eyes. They float down to the earth from some faraway place deep in space... from the belly of a moon, or- or the tears of a sun. Their journey ends on the earth. Can you imagine that? Millions of miles in a path of light, only to die from a curse of gravity." "I don't like to think of it as dying, actually." Ash said in response. "I like to think it's... finding a new home." "Hm." Kai gave Ash the sort of smile given to an ignorant child whom trusts himself more than he should. Ash wasn't offended. Kai continued. "...You're insightful in a very simple way, Ash." "Thanks. I get that a lot." A smile. "...You know? I think I believe in life too. There's always hope, no matter what you're waiting for. Ash, are you waiting for something?" "Sure, maybe a little." "I know I am." Kai stood up, not without watching the moon. He looked down at Ash, and grinned, patting his back. "Come on, get some sleep. Aren't we gonna battle tomorrow morning?" Ash turned around, in time to see Kai already walking back to the house. His blue hair shone heavily in the moonlight, trailing after him. Ash sighed, and looked at the night sky. It was so clear, but the stars seemed dull. ============ Greetings and salutations! Huh... this is uncharacteristically short for something I upload, but oh well. It makes sense to divide the story like this, I guess :). An interesting, sorta talky scene, that it is. Thanks for reading! Questions? Comments? Recommendations? Fan Mail? Hate Mail, maybe?
