I only needed the room for a couple of weeks, until I got myself situated and comfortable at the university. Then I could find permanent quarters. In the meantime, this would do fine. She was such a sweet, grandmotherly type. And the weekly rent was perfect for my meager finances. I'd have to find a part-time job soon. Father was taking care of the tuition, but housing, meals and extras were strictly my own responsibility. "You can have the second room on the left on the first landing. You'll be sharing an adjoining bathroom with two other fine college boys who share the room next to yours." That sounded okay to me. Perhaps, if the fellows were decent enough, we could strike up a friendship. Maybe indulge in a game of Monopoly or Chess on occasion. <
