He knew that Jason went to see his nephew but didn't know why. "Hey babe, glad you're here." Jason said as he closed the door and pulled Billy into a hug and kiss. "Is everything okay, Jason?" "Yes, and no, I have somethings to tell you. Come and sit down and we will talk." Jason held Bill's hand as they walked to the living room. "Okay, as you know, I went to see my nephew yesterday in Nacogdoches but I didn't tell you why." He stopped to take a breath and gather his thoughts. "Shawn is in jail for attempted kidnapping and felony assault. He attacked my nephew Marcus' fiance, Davis." Billy had a look of utter shock on his face "is he alright?" "Yes, he is fine. He was in a coma for a few weeks. It turns out he fought them for quite a while, but they got the better of him and beat the hell out of him." Jason still felt like it was his fault for how he raised Shawn. "I went to see Marcus because I feel responsible for what happened." "So, what happened with Marcus?" "Well, we spoke a good length. He doesn't hold a grudge against me and neither does Davis. They are both great young men and I can't wait for you to meet them. That, that is after you meet my brother." The look on Bill's face was priceless. "W-what again are you actually saying, Jason?" "I told Marcus about us and our relationship. He loves that I have found someone to love and be happy with. Davis feels the same way." Billy still looked stunned. "He also told me I have to come out to my brother." "Babe, that's your decision but I would love to meet your family and for us to be together as a couple." Jason leaned forward and kissed Billy, "I know, baby, I want you to meet my family. I was stupid to hide us this long but you have already met my nephew and you know Davis' uncle very well." "What.......what do you mean, I know them?" "Do you remember when you had to deal with a fight at the fireworks show last summer? Well, that was Davis' brother Tommy, his cousin, and the big guy with black hair was Marcus." Billy let all this sink in for a few minutes. "Those were your nephews. Now which one was Davis' uncle?" Jason smiled, "The sheriff!" He chuckled at Bill, who looked like his eyes were going to pop out of his head. It took a few minutes for Billy to talk again. "So, the sheriff is related to Marcus fiance?" "Yes, he is babe, and when you are ready we know that we will have his support at your office." Jason and Billy talked for hours into the wee of the night. Billy stayed that night. He loved spending the night with the man who holds his heart. Although, he was still shocked by the conversation from earlier. He was being hopeful; could his dreams really be coming true? Was he going to be able to have a true relationship with Jason as a couple? Are they going to be able to tell their families and friends, everyone they care about in their lives? ****************************************** "Deep breath, Jason, deep breath." He kept telling himself as he walked up to the front door of his brother's house. "Hey, big brother, this is a nice surprise" Jacob said, greeting his brother at the door with a hug. "Hey, Jacob, it's good to see you. I figured I would come by because I know you might want to talk about what happen with Shawn. Instead of putting it off any longer, I just figured I would come and get it over with." Jason and Jacob walked into the den. "First, I want to say that I am sorry for what happened to Davis. I don't know what I did wrong in raising Shawn to make him do that. I never raised him to hate anyone, so I don't know how this came about. I feel like a failure as a father because of this situation." He drew a big breath. "I have already spoken with Marcus and he doesn't blame me for what happened. Also, I met Davis. He is a very nice young gentleman who I look forward to calling my nephew in the future." Jacob glanced toward the floor. He couldn't face his brother he didn't want to see anger in his brother's face. "Jason, I'm not angry with you. You've raised Shawn on your own to the best of your abilities and that is saying a lot; working a full-time job as a firefighter and being a single father. You are a good man, Jason. A man who I am proud to call my brother and is a fantastic uncle to my son, and like a second father." Jacob said while pulling Jason into a hug which caused Jason to break down in tears. "I have something else to tell you Jacob. I have been in a relationship for the last 15 years." Jacob's face never showed any emotion except a smile. "I was wondering when you were going to tell me about Billy." Jason couldn't believe his ears. "What do you mean?" "Jason, you may be my big brother but I'm more observant and I have seen you interact with him. Not to mention, I saw you two coming out of a restaurant downtown while holding hands five years ago, I was just waiting till you felt comfortable enough to tell me and for what it is worth, I think Billy is a very good man who obviously makes you very happy." Jacob smiled. "I was so scared to tell you, Jacob. I thought that you would hate me and be ashamed of me because I was your big brother." "Jason, when has that mattered to me? You know I'm always going to be there for you, no matter what! We are brothers and we stick together." Jacob was patting his brother on the knee. "So, when are you and your boyfriend going to come to dinner? I have to do my brotherly duties and grill him and what not." Jacob almost laughed while a big smile spread across his face. They laughed and talked for a while longer until plans were made for him and Billy to come over next week for dinner. It was no surprise that when Jason arrived home, he was on cloud 9 so much so that he decided it was time to propose to Billy and ask him to move in with him. So, he planned for a couple of days and decided to do it after his brother and sister-in-law met Billy. The dinner with Jacob went well that weekend, of course his brother had to be a butt, however, it was all in good fun making Jason laugh. Both Billy and Jason were impressed with the dinner that was prepared for them and spoke of it on their way home. ******************************************* "Babe, can I ask you something?" Jason's eyes were gazing directly into Billy's. "Anything." Billy replied with curiosity. Getting down on one knee, and taking Billy's hand with his, he smiled as he said, "You have made my life happier every new day throughout all these years. I have been the luckiest man on earth since you came into my life. You are my rock. You are so kind and caring with the heart of an angel. When I met you, the sun came out and our lives grew together. I know I have hidden our love from view, but now I must ask," he took a breath, "I cannot live without you here with me. Will you marry me?" With that, he kissed the palm of Billy's hand and folded it within his own. With tears in his eyes, Billy screamed "Yes! Yes! Yes! A million times, yes!" He pulled Jason from the floor, planting a huge, deeply passionate kiss on his new fiance, hot and fiery. As they stood there breathing each other in, all the world ceased to exist. They held each other so closely, they could feel the other's heartbeats racing against their chests; their lips pressing with an electrical charge, every kiss with renewed intensity, connecting them saying they were forever one. "Billy, I also want you to move in with me. I have this big house and I want us to share it together, raising our children here." Jason slowly exhaled. "Do you mean it? Do you want to have kids?" he leaned back, smiling from ear-to-ear while staring deeply into Jason's eyes. Jason cuddled closer and spoke softly in Billy's ear, "Yes, I want to have kids. I love you and I want to raise children with you. It will help me right the mistakes I made with Shawn, to be able to raise kids again. Plus, you will make a great father. You're always talking about wanting to have kids someday and I didn't realize how much I want to be a father again until this whole incident with Shawn. I knew something was wrong but I didn't think I screwed up that badly with him." "Baby, you didn't screw up with Shawn at all. He made his own choices. He is a grown ass man. You can't control him anymore nor take responsibilities for his actions." Billy kissed Jason gently on the lips. Of course, the next day, Jason called all his family to tell them the good news about him and Billy. Billy decided to tell his boss about his upcoming nuptials. "Sheriff, can we speak in private for a second?" "Yeah, sure, Billy come on in my office. Now, what's this all about?" "Well, sir, I'm getting Married" "Congratulations, Billy! Who is the lucky young lady?" "Well, sir, it's actually a man and its Jason Pedallow, the fire chief." "He wouldn't happen to be related to the same Pedallow family that my nephew is marrying into, now is he?" "Yes, sir, Jason is Marcus' uncle." "Then I'm happy for you, Billy. Jason is a good man. I have met him before. I wish you both all the happiness in the world." "Thank you, sir, especially for being so cool with this." "Son, how could I not? My son and nephew are gay and I love them both very much. You being gay does not bother me, and listen, if anyone gives you grief you just tell me. Okay? They will be in serious trouble; you understand me?" "Yes, sir." Billy smiled and saluted with a grin. ****************************************************** Life started returning to normal. Marcus and Davis had a long talk, which ultimately concluded that Marcus was going to go to med school in the fall and Davis was going with him, along with Carl and William. They set about looking for a nice house to rent or a townhome to buy since they all had nice nest eggs which they built up. They weren't going on a trip this year and hadn't done any traveling over the summer. For spring break, the guys just hung out in Houston and went to a couple of movies. They also went to San Antonio to go house hunting and found a great townhouse not too far from Campus. They closed on the house by the end of March and were going to move in during June. "Here we are guys, our new humble abode." Carl said as we pulled up to a very nice townhouse. We were able acquire a very nice four-bedroom, three bath, house for about two-hundred and fifty thousand and I will be honest, we had help from papa Seth along with papa Jacob. But it's a great house, and they had no problem helping us get it, since we are all going to be going to school in San Antonio for a while anyway. Although, I did not realize how much stuff we had and brought for the house but the funny thing is we needed more. We were going to go to an outlet furniture store for the extra stuff we need to fill the house out. We went into the furniture store and it was a great find. We separated and went to pick out our choices. I found this great blood red sectional sofa and foot rest with great big teal pillows. I love the color teal and it would look great in the living room since we are using our old living room furniture for our library/office. I waved the guys over to show them my find. "Davis, this is perfect. I don't think we need to look for anything else. What do you guys think?" Carl asked Marcus and William and they both loved the couch. "Okay, I will get this. You guys go look for a couple of chairs for our rooms and the guest room; oh, and bookshelves, if they have any." As they all went off to do more shopping, I caught the sales associate's attention and, of course, he is a good-looking guy. "Yes, sir, my name is Kenny. How may I help you?" I had to admit he is quite sexy. I'm not going to lie. I gave him the look up and down; he had a charming smile. "Yes, I would like to purchase this please." I said while pointing to the sofa. "Oh, good choice, sir. I love this couch. It's perfect for naps. I'm guilty of catching a few z's on here before work." he laughed putting his hand on my shoulder. He has strong hands which I like; oh boy! I thought to myself. "Let's go over here and get you squared away." I followed him over to the checkout desk. As we did the paperwork we chatted a bit. After having everything paid and having the delivery set up, he handed me the paperwork. "Here you go sir. I hope you have a nice day and thank you for shopping with us." he said with a bright smile. If I were single, I would have totally been all over this guy. "I will, and thank you for your service. You were a big help." "Davis, I was wondering if I could get your number?" "Oh, Kenny, I'm sorry. I appreciate the offer but I'm engaged." I said holding out my hand "I'm sorry, Davis, I just thought you were very attractive and I was hoping for a date. I would kill to find a guy like you." "Don't worry about it. I find it flattering that you are attracted to me. Not to long ago I was a chubby guy who thought he didn't look good at all until Marcus saw me and fell in love, as did I, and we have been together ever since." I was pointing towards Marcus. "Wow! He is a gorgeous boy doctor. Love did well for you." "I think I will keep him. But, don't worry Kenny, a handsome man like you will find a guy that is perfect and here is my number keep in touch if you ever need to talk, okay?" "Yeah," he sighed, "that would be great I don't have many friends here. I just moved her over the summer to go to school." "We did too; my fiance and myself along with my cousin Carl and his fiance. We are all going to school at the University of Texas San Antonio (UTSA)." "Well, this is a small world, so am I. I'm in the computer science program." "So am I! I'm a junior, are you a freshman?" "I'm a junior. I had to transfer from my last school." Kenny said and I could hear a tint of despair in his voice but I decided not to push it. "Hey baby!" calling to my love, "I would like you to meet my new friend Kenny. Kenny this is my big ape, Marcus." I said rather jestingly, which caused Kenny to laugh and for me to receive a slap on the ass. Marcus stuck his hand out and shook Kenny's. "It's nice to meet you." I decided to play a little. "Yeah, he wanted my phone number. He thought I was hot!" Oh! the look on poor Kenny's face was priceless. "Don't worry, Kenny, he has that effect on me too, and you can stop looking for an escape route. I know he is being an ass and I will punish him later." Marcus added in his sinister, sexy voice. "Oh, my! I'm being punished! I like your punishment. I can't wait." I shot back. "Okay now! You two have to stop or I'm going to have to change my pants." Kenny laughed. "Sorry, Kenny, he has this way with me. Back to business; did you guys find everything?" "Yes, master, we found everything on your list." Carl said to me, folding his hands and bowing. I slapped him upside the head. They showed Kenny what they wanted. I loved the chair Marcus picked for our room. We will definitely be having lots of hot sex on it; of course, leather does that to me. We paid for everything and headed home. Our stuff is going to be delivered tomorrow. It's a good thing too, because tomorrow was going to be the only time anyone is going to be home. This next week, Marcus and Carl had orientation all week and William is starting his job. I don't start until Wednesday. Here we are in San Antonio, living are lives as young college students. I'm fixing to start my junior year as an undergrad. William is starting his Master's program. Carl and Marcus are looking forward to med school. All of us are taking part-time jobs. I've been hired on at the university to work in their IT department along with William. Carl and Marcus haven't been able to find anything yet, but that was okay me. William and I made a very good amount, being part time workers. ***************************************************** "Well, here we are baby. Our first day of school in a new school at that." I said as Marcus drove into the parking lot. "Yeah, it's going to be tough these next few years. But, we will make it; won't we?" Marcus asked, sounding a little too reflective. "Yep, we will we have a great house." "You and William have great jobs; we are all good right now." "Yes, it will be just fine, baby." I replied, leaning over and kissing him good-bye. "Hey, say hello to Kenny for me if you see him today." I heard Marcus say as I got out of the car. My first day was just great. I had Kenny in all my classes today. I'm glad we met, he has turned into a very good friend. He can drive me home, since Marcus gets out later than I do. We went inside and bee-lined to the kitchen. I was starving and so was Kenny. I put some pizza rolls in the oven. "Man, this semester is going to be tough!" "I know what you mean. Professor Andrews' class is going to be murder. Can you believe how big our research assignment is and then having to turn around and do another one for our final while doing other stuff for his class? Man, we are going to be zombies this semester." Kenny grumbled. "I know I'm not bad at writing big papers. But, how he wants them and how much research he wants us to have, handing in all our notes and stuff, I was like, dang man, what do you want a book?" I added, laughing, causing Kenny to bust out laughing as well. "Hey, Kenny, can I ask you something?" "Sure, what's up?" "Well, I was wondering why you left Houston? I mean, that's a really good school." "I don't want to talk about it, Davis. Please don't make me. Something severely bad happened there that I'm still trying to forget and I'm just not ready to talk about it, okay? Can we please drop the subject?" "Okay, I will drop it. But, I just want you to know that we are friends and I'm a great listener if you ever want to talk about it. Please don't be afraid to ask." I became concerned but realized I would hear it from him when the time was right. Marcus' POV We have been in school for over a month, and man, am I exhausted. My schedule is a killer; lots of tough classes. But, I must do it if I'm going to follow in my dad's footsteps. Davis and I are doing well. Our relationship is so much stronger now after that whole ordeal. I'm just nervous because the case is coming up and I'm afraid of what this kind of stress this will put on him. I mean, he still isn't 100 percent yet. He has been seeing a therapist since he woke up from his coma. He is off the sleeping pills but he still has nightmares. Some of them are so bad, he wakes me up in the middle of the night crying for help because the pain is too much. The only way I can calm him down is talking to him and holding him as tight as I possibly can. When the nightmares first started, there were a few nights that I received quite a few battle wounds, but that hasn't happened in a while. I have gone to a few of the sessions with him and I hurt hearing just how scared he was and still is; how he feels like he still must look over his shoulder out of fear. There were a few times I almost cried tears of anger. I wanted to murder Shawn and make him feel as bad as Davis is feeling. But I knew I couldn't. I need to be strong for him. I need to be that shoulder he could cry on. "Hey, Marcus, how is it going?" Carl said coming up to me at our usual lunch spot. "I'm good, what about you?" "Oh, good, my lab was boring this morning so I'm glad that it's over." "So, how is William doing? I don't get to see him much with his job and class schedule." "He doing just fine. He and Davis talk all the time at work, especially about us. They compare notes apparently. I am glad that Davis is doing better." "Yeah, I am too, but he still has nightmares sometimes and he is jumpy sometimes. He still feels like somebody is watching him. I get a little worried about him. I mean, I don't know if you have seen it, I have noticed that at times he is even scared to go outside, especially at night. He has improved some but I still notice his hesitation sometimes." Marcus said ruefully. "I've noticed it too, Marcus, but I think he is getting a lot better. It's just going to be a while before he is back to normal." Carl put his hand on Marcus' shoulder and gave him an affirming squeeze. "Honestly, Carl, I don't think he will ever be back to normal. At least not the normal we knew. What happened to Davis changed him and he will never be the same guy that we knew and loved before the incident." "But, hopefully, one day he will be back to 100 percent and he will be better than ever." "I do hope so, Carl. Hell, one of the first things he did when we moved here is find a karate studio so he can continue his training so that he will never be taken by a surprise attack again. He wants to be prepared for anything. There have been times he has come back from a training session all bruised up and exhausted but he doesn't tell me anything. So, I had to go to his studio and watch, only to find out he has a group of students fight him just like what happened that night. I asked him about it but he just played it off as nothing." "I never knew that. I knew that he was taking classes but I didn't know it was that extreme." Carl stood stunned. "I know he hasn't done one of those types of fights in a while. I made him promise me but I know he is still pushing his limits with his training and now I know he is working with self-defense weapons. He already knows how to use the baton but he wants to know more. I mean, honestly, what scares me the most, Carl, is that he is putting a lot of time and effort into this and I don't want him to become obsessed with fighting." "Don't worry, he won't. He is just scared and needs to work out his anger in his own way." "I know. I'm worried about him and I deeply love him, Carl. I don't want him to go down a dark path" Marcus said sadly. "I know, buddy, and if we have to, we will hog tie him to the bed and make sure he knows how much we love him and will be there for him whenever he needs it." "I hope so, Carl. I can only do so much for him and I'm afraid it may not be enough." "Don't you worry about that! You are plenty for him and he loves you, Marcus. It's just going to take some time. Have patience and always be there when he needs it." Carl spoke with affirmation. Marcus shook his head in agreement. Williams' POV "Davis, how are we going to decorate our house for our first Christmas together?" I asked as they we're doing some shopping for groceries. "I think a nice tree in the living room is a given. Then, I thought we could put small trees in our bedrooms, office and the guestroom since our families are visiting for our first Christmas. We need to get some decent lights for the house. I know my cousin and Christmas lights, so I figured they can do the outside while we did the inside. We will need stockings and garland and whatever else. We can't make it look like Santa threw up in the house but a few lights inside would be good like light up garland on the stair case and around the entry way to the kitchen and dining room; oh, and a wreath for the front door." "That's a bit much, isn't it?" I was smiling. "Yeah, I know. But it is also our first Christmas in our new house and I want it to be special. I realize we have had a tough year and I know I haven't made it any easier with having Marcus worry about me." "What do you mean?" "You know, with what I was doing in my karate classes, having several guys attack me until I couldn't stand; until I could beat them all." Davis. I looked at the ground. "Yeah, I remember. You told me what you were doing and I tried to stop you but I couldn't, so I was the one who told Marcus and y'all had that fight about it." I just couldn't look him in the eyes, feeling I was the cause. "William, I'm glad you did. I was so angry that I wanted to punish anyone including myself. After that fight with Marcus, I realized just what I was doing to myself and I realized that I was doing it to Marcus as well. I know he still worries about me and I know I still have a couple of issues but I'm trying to work through them". "I know you are, Davis. I see it all the time when we leave from work and it's dark. I instantly see you go on alert while we're walking to our car. You always think that someone is going to get you if you go out at night. I also notice it when we are with the guys and we are going to dinner or whatever. You are always looking out at your surroundings, expecting an attack any second." "I am? I didn't even realize I've been doing all of that." "Believe me, Davis, I understand why you do it. I still did it sometimes after I was attack by me parents. I was afraid that there was some member of my family at every corner ready to attack me. So, I know out of everybody what you are going through but you are taking the right steps in still seeing your therapist. You never fully get over what happens to you, especially something like that, but you learn to deal with it so that it doesn't control your life." "I know, William, and I'm glad I have you to talk to about it, since you went through sort of the same thing." They finished their shopping, also buying a few things to decorate this house with. They decided they would pick up more that weekend with the guys, including the trees. That following weekend they went back to the store and bought all their stuff for decorating the house. William and Davis decided to get fake trees for the smaller rooms and a real one for the living room. They all picked out their stockings and other ornaments. They went to a local tree farm and picked a big beautiful nine-foot tree for the living room. Marcus and Carl laughed at them because they were like kids in a candy store getting stuff for the house. They bought a lot of lights and other decorations for the house. As soon as they arrived home, they started decorating. Marcus and Carl went outside while Davis and William started with the big tree. It was decided that the big tree would have multi-colored lights over the branches along with a beautiful star on top. After they finished with the lights, they hung the ornaments with care, along with some tinsel. They put the lighted garland on the banister and the entryways. William hung the stockings over the fireplace while Davis put garland over the doors upstairs. Then they both went upstairs and set up the trees. They purchased six-foot trees for all the upstairs rooms and decided to decorate them simply with just lights and a star tree topper, of course. Once they were done, they loved how it came out. The inside looked fantastic but boy, they were tired. They hung the wreath on the door just as the guys finished outside and it all looked so beautiful and festive. Since everyone was tired out, they just decided to order pizza for dinner and call it quits. They ordered three pizzas and Davis made a salad so at least they would feel a little better about eating all this pizza. But, hey, they're all in good shape, so they can be a little bad with eating pizza. Plus, they did a lot of work all day and deserved it. The house looked amazing, almost like a fairytale Christmas.
