Logan sighed and apologized. "I'm sorry Patrick... I felt like you were saying we wouldn't work out, I overreacted. Can you forgive me for being an ass?" "Yes, if you can forgive me too, I wasn't saying class is more important than you are Logan... I just want to get to know you better, I don't even know what your favorite music is? Things like that." I did want to know him better and college was important to me but there was a bit more than that to it for me as well. "But... If I fail...Logan, I have nowhere to go. My dad disowned me and told the rest of the family I cursed him out and did things I have in no way done. I'm here on Pell and scholarships. All it's going to take is one bad grade... But I don't want to lose what we already have either." I heard my own voice crack, doing my best not to tear up. Dad had always chewed me out for crying `like a little girl' too easily. Neil came and sat on one side of me on the floor and Logan came to the other, arms around my shoulders. Neil huffed a bit. "Hey, I didn't know that, and I've been rooming with you a week. Look we have ethics and intro to computers together, if you need help there, I can tutor you. Hell, I'm already halfway through the first quarters coursework... um, not to brag. Its stuff I already know." "and I've got a class with you as well, if either of us slip the other can kick butt to get back on track, right?" Logan had a way of making me smile with the way he talked. "You are so crass Logan. " I leaned a bit against his shoulder and gave him a short kiss on the lips that had Neil rolling his eyes the other way as he got up and went back to his side of the room. "Foods here!" Pete just walked right in and Neil whooped, never one to turn down free food. Logan got an odd smirk. "Now, what was it you were saying about setting ground rules and being respectful?" "Guess that means you don't want a nice burger then Logan, man, I told you to give Pat his shirt back." I could not help but laugh, Logan's arm tightening around my shoulders and I felt good about this semester now. Though I hoped this tantrum was a one-off and the last one for a while. We all ate rather quickly, the burgers were fairly good, from a mom and pop shop up the road that I decided when finances allowed, we would visit again. Logan suddenly belting out. "Weird Al, Christmas at Ground Zero is one of my all-time favorites." I blinked a moment and could not recall hearing that one. "I'll have to listen to it sometime then. I'm weird. I love Celtic music. Tir'na'nog is one of my favorites right now. It's what I was listening to when I met you." "Oh God, Sappy." Pete rolled his eyes and laughed, interrupting us, and having parked on my computer chair. He was a decent guy and seemed willing to bring us food, always a plus in my book. "So? Alright, let's set some rules. I have homework to do, I'll type it up and we can sign off that we all know them so there is no arguing later." Neil had his laptop beside him and open again. He was rather levelheaded and nonplus about everything it seemed, unless it was his favorite game of the week. A quality I wished I had. ~~~~Logan~~~~ It seemed to take forever to hash out the do's and don'ts for the four of us. At one-point Gabe stopped by and questioned `all the hoopla' but got called away to do his R.A. thing when he spotted someone in the hallway with a beer in hand. By the time we were done it was late and Patrick seemed happy, hell, I felt good leaning against the wall with him while we all talked. In the end we decided to keep the roomies we had and if everything worked out switch come thanksgiving, unofficially if Gabe let us. Though as I stood and rubbed my suddenly awakening legs something dawned on me. "Pat? Where are you going for thanksgiving break and Christmas if they close the dorms?" "I haven't thought about that yet..." His smile faded, and I regretted the question. Thinking fast I considered a solution. "Let me talk to Dad. I think he won't mind having an extra hand around. Do you like horses?" His eyes widened a tiny bit and I was worried he was scared of them before he answered. "I like them, yes, I've never actually been near one that wasn't in a parade though." Oh this was going to be fun. I kissed him goodnight and shoved Pete's shoulder as he made a gagging noise in jest at us. Even so I heard my phone `ding' as I changed and went to bed. Patrick of course. "Goodnight lover. Sexy dreams." "My bed smells like you, they will be sexy dreams. G'night Lover." The next week kicked into high gear with all the teachers thinking they were the only ones and each one expecting us to do `only' two to three hours' worth of homework. I did have to take the other two and Gabe up on a few tutoring sessions to catch up from my missed first few classes. Finally, it was the weekend and I collapsed on my bed, texting Patrick. "I miss you. Come over?" "Be there soon." His reply a very welcome thing.
