"Yeah I screwed up big time looks like." "Looks like is the operative phrase here Pete. Hey according to the grades I got the other day I flunked every course. The long and short of it is the was a computer foul up. Accident or intentional is under investigation right now. I'm on my way home from the college now. I spoke to Dean Evans and he hopes to have the real grades out within the month." "So I'm not in trouble?" "I'm doubting it Pete. So try and relax. We'll be home in a couple of hours if you want to come over." "OK Den. Maybe I'll see you later." I hung up with Pete and thought about it for a second. I hit the speeddial for Gordon. "Hey Dennis. You calling about the computer snafu?" "Then you got the word already?" "Yeah dad was on the phone Friday night to Dean Evans. You heard anything new?" "Just that they're working on it and hope to have the revised grades our within a month." "This going to screw with the all state standings?" "Not according to Dean Evans." "Well that's good at least. So I'll see you the end of next month if not sooner." "Damn right! Take care Gordon and say hi to Aiden." "Will do, later." We were back on the road in short order and back home by mid afternoon. "You get things all straightened out boyo?" "Far from in Mrs Ohanlon but everything that could be done has been." "Things will work out." "I'm sure. I'm going for a swim." I went in and changed into a suit as did Karl. Bobbie joined us not much later. We all horsed around for a while until Mrs Ohanlon gave us a 15 minute warning for supper. Bobbie headed home, Karl and I showered off and changed and supper was had and Mrs Ohanlon was on her way home. Karl , Al and I settled in for a little tv and along about 11 we sacked out. Tuesday and we were up and out for our jogging and Al and I were soon enough off to the office. By this time everybody had heard about what had happened so there was no need for me to explain where I had been. At this point I had read my way through the course materials and it boiled down to doing whatever little tasks that Angelo assigned me,listening to him council clients, and watching over my imaginary $10,000 investment. I made exacting notes for each trade as Angelo had instructed. I started reviewing the directional notes Stan Bellows put out every couple of days as well as the recommended investments guide that he put out every week. The brokers were by no means locked into just those items that were reviewed, so it wasn't a big deal when I noticed that Angelo was recommending things other than what was on the list. I did ask him about it though. "Mr Bellows recommendations are fine for about 95% of the clients that I handle. He is a bit conservative. Those other 5% are willing to take bigger risks than your average investor. I don't have to tell you that there is potentially a bigger reward with that higher risk. I do my homework Mr Sawyer and anything that looks too risky I will steer my clients away from." "Fair enough Mr Terrentollo." 4:30 finally rolled around and I went to my dads office and called the lawyers to find out where they were on that. "Ah Dennis. I was wondering when I was going to hear from you." "I'm sure you've heard about the computer snafu at state Mr Jacobs, otherwise you would have gotten this call yesterday." "Yes I have heard. Well, let me tell you what we have at this point. We believe we have found your brothers adoptive parents. Until we verify everything I can't in good conscious give you their name or location. The detectives are working on it and I hope to have further word in a couple of days." "If this is them for sure, is it going to be difficult for me to meet them?" "Not as far as the logistics of it are concerned, but the question is if they will be willing to see you. We don't at this point know if they know of you or not. This may be just as big a shock for them as it was for you Dennis." "I hadn't thought of that, or if my brother would even want to see me. I sure as hell can't force him into it can I?" "No you can't Dennis and I'm glad that you realized that on your own. We'll handle this a delicately as we can." "Alright Mr Jacobs. Please just keep me informed." "Of course Mr Sawyer. Have a good evening." Al and I were soon on our way back to the house. Dinner was had and I got in a swim and that was the end of a Tuesday. The week wore on and finally we came to another Friday. Angelo asked me for a progress report on my $10,000 imaginary investment and if I cashed out everything right at that moment I would have been about $112 ahead of the game. Al and I were soon back at the house and Pete was there waiting for us. "Hey Pete! You holding up?" "Hey Den. Yeah I am. Still worried about the grades though." "We all are I'm sure. Should be taken care of pretty soon." "I sure as hell hope so. Not knowing is going to drive me bughouse." "You staying for supper?" "Yeah Karl here already invited me." "Mrs Ohanlon, how much time do we have?" "Just a few." "Guess I'll have to wait until after for my swim." Pete and Karl had obviously been enjoying the pool this afternoon. Dinner was soon enough finished and Mrs Ohanlon was on here way. The three of us horsed around in the pool for a while before Pete decided to head home. I locked the place up for the night and Karl and I were soon asleep. Saturday morning jogging and breakfast were taken care of and we were off to Edgeton for practice. Coach Matthews was there waiting on me and today we concentrated on landing the triple vault solidly. It was a quick run through of everything else. "Dennis, you're looking pretty damn good. The last thing you really need is a triple somewhere in your floor." "I've tried before coach. I just can't seem to get enough height and momentum from the floor to get it." "Next week we're going to put you in the harness and work on it." "We can sure as hell try coach. I land a triple in the floor and I'd be damn near unbeatable, unless of course somebody else steps it up this summer." "Dwayne wrote me last week that he is working on it for his floor and a couple of other routines as well." "More power to him. We both can carry it off and the team can well have a hell of a season next year." "Not my team, but I'm counting on you having a good one regardless. Now get out of here." I went and changed into my bathing suit and hit the jacuzzi for a while before showering up and heading out front to meet Karl and Al. "That triple in the vault is looking real good lover." "Yeah I'm pretty happy with it. Which ever coach we have at State will likely be impressed to, I hope." We grabbed a late lunch and headed home. Once again it was still light out when we got home. We ended up going over to Karls for supper tonight. "Occurs to me I had better start getting some cooking lessons before to much longer." "I'm taking care of that Den. Not much else for me to do all day." "You could always come to work with me son." "I could dad but I need to just chill out. School was a bear this last year and I'm betting it isn't going to be any better the next two years." "Hey I understand burnout son, just an alternative." "I'll keep it in mind dad, but our summer is damn near half over already." "Yeah and only 6 weeks to the wedding. Have you boys thought about your honeymoon yet?" "We thought about going traditional and going to the Falls for our honeymoon, at least for a couple of days,or maybe just take a mystery tour." "Maybe combine the two Den. A few days at the Falls and a mystery tour for the rest of the week or maybe a bit more?" "Certainly something to think about." "Sure not a shortage of stuff to see. Historic Boston, Mount Washington. the Old Man in the Mountain who knows what else?" "Something for us to look into lover." We were back over to my place a short time later. A little TV and before we knew it, it was time to lock up for the night. Sunday was pretty much spent hanging around the pool with supper over at Karls house again. Monday morning and jogging and breakfast were taken care of and Al and I were off to the office. This week I ended up wearing a headset and listening directly in on Angelos phone calls. I got to hear both sides of the conversation. Objections that were raised along with concerns over certain options. I learned what to expect from a client and how to address their concerns. As far as I was concerned it was probably the most productive time to date in the training cycle. Friday rolled around as it had a habit of doing and I turned my weekly synopsis in to Angelo. My profit, had I sold everything off, would have been up to almost $500 in just two weeks. "I see you had a loss on this sale Mr Sawyer. What happened there?" "The stock simply didn't perform as I expected it to Mr Terrentollo. I sold it off before it lost anymore of its value. I did watch it and it eventually bottomed out at $6.12 a share and has not rebounded at all since." "Why did you buy it in the first place?" "If you will refer to last weeks report you will see that they had a very solid plan in place, right up until their financeing fell through." "And why did their financing fall through?" "I believe becuase interest rates on home mortgages went down again and there was a demand for the money that offered the banks a better long term investment." "Sound reasoning. Very good Mr Sawyer. See you next week." "Have yourself a good weekend Mr Terrentollo." At that point the pa system came on. "Mr Sawyer you have a call on line 3."
