Al and I were quickly home and dinner was had with Karl. The two of us went to the workout room for an hour or so and while I worked the gymnastics equipment, Karl made the rounds of the other stuff. The rest of the evening was quiet and Karl and I sacked out around 11. The 6th and we were up and at it and out for our jogging. Roland checked with us for the "final" head count for the wedding and reception. Soon enough Al and I were off to the office. I found Stan as soon as we got there to check on the overnights. "There's nothing Dennis and the after market has been quiet,to quiet. I'd have expected more ripples than this." "Which means what?" "My best guess, somebody somewhere knows something we don't." "And we're not likely to know what until it drops into our laps. So what's our best course of action?" "Best we can do is work it out both ways. Teramedies falls apart, or it doesn't. Right now, either way I think the majority of our clients are pretty well covered." "Ok so if Teramedies recovers, who gets hurt?" "Mostly those folks who speculated on them crashing. Again, I don't think that is going to affect many of our clients but I'll look into it and it will be in the overnight report tomorrow or the next day. Best advice for today is to be conservative." "Do I need to spread the word?" "No I'll give them the heads up before the bell." I went to my desk and got it organized for the day and Angelo was soon enough there. "Mr Sawyer, what's the word?" "Mr Bellows is concerned that there hasn't been more movement over the whole Teramidies thing. His word of the day is conservative." "In other words he is waiting for the other shoe to fall." "I'd say that sums it up nicely." "His recommendations?" "Will be forthcoming in the next day or so." "Your feelings on the subject?" "I'm with Mr Bellows on this one. Somebody knows something that we don't,which I guess is true most of the time anyway, but in this case the ramifications could be far reaching." "It must be something hereditary. That sounds just exactly like what your father would have said." "And maybe I was just listening all of those years." Stan was out and gave us his morning headsup and shortly thereafter we were at it again. About mid morning there were stories starting to surface that whole divisions of Teramidies Industries were up for grabs. I chased rumors as best I could while Angelo took care of his clients. I'd get the info on one rumor and two more popped up to take its place. If what I was uncovering was indeed true, it was a wholesale sell off of assets. Which led me to believe that if Andros wasn't already in custody he was getting ready to run. If he was in custody he was building his defense fund. I motioned Al to get over to me. "Is Andros in custody at this time?" "He was last time I checked." "Check again please." Al went off into a corner and got on his phone. He was on his way back shortly. "He was released on bail about an hour ago." "Call Karl and put him and his family on alert. Have him send Mrs Ohanlon home until further notice." "You thinking he might be after you before he dissappears or something?" "The thought did cross my mind." I went and found Stan and told him what Al told me and all of the rumors I had chased down. "This could very well be your other shoe couldn't it?" "It could be Dennis. Keep a close eye on things and I will too." So I was back to my desk and Angelo just gave me a look. "Andros Teramedies is out on bail, rumors have it that whole sections of Teramidies Industries are up for sale at bargain prices. He's either preparing for a fight or getting ready to run is the best guess." "Given his reputation I'm betting on the fight. So for us it's eyes wide open I'm guessing?" "That it is." For the rest of the day I tried to follow what of Teramedies Industries was being sold off and who was buying it. The majority of the holdings was being bought by smaller companies, but when I started digging I found they were all part of Rastan Industrial Holdings. That prompted me to take a good look at the Rastan board of directors and the company hierarchy. There weren't any red flags that I could see. I decided to make use of Al and had him take a look at the people to see if any names jumped out at him. "None of them ring any bells Dennis. Can you put that into a PDF or something and send it to me and I'll forward it to Stimson and see what he has to say. The 'white collar' division might want to take a look at these folks seeing as they're scarfing up so much of the Teramedies stuff." Angelo, being right there beside me, had heard all of this and just gave me a quick wink. 4:30 finally got there and things were shut down and I went to Stan for the end of day. I told him everything that I had found out and that the info had gone to the FBI. "Not quite kosher there Den, but given what has happened in the past a good call nonetheless. Otherwise it's been a good day. See you in the morning." Al and I were on the way home and he was keeping a close watch once again. "Take a random turn Dennis." "What?" "There's a car behind us that's been there since we left the office." I looked in the mirror and I recognized the car. "That's officer Pembrose in his own car. He looks out for me as well. Likely he heard about Andros being out on bail and is doing his own security overwatch." "You sure it is him?" "99 and 44/100 percent sure. Here, speed dial 5." Al took my phone and hit the speed dial. "No sir, special agent Goulding FBI. Are you currently tailing Mr Sawyer?........I see. Thank you officer. You were right Dennis. Any reason he is so interested in you?" "He keeps trying to get me to apply to the academy, simply because I was willing to help him out on a case a couple of years ago." "Do I want to know?" "Nope and I can't tell you anyways." We were soon enough home and Dana drove on past the house. Dinner was soon had and then Karl and I spent a little time in the pool. Al followed me around tonight to double check all of the doors and windows and that the alarm was set. The night was quiet and 5:45 got there as it always did. Karl and I were up and out and this morning along with Al, there was a black and white following us. We were down to the park and made our laps and got back to the house without any problems. Showers taken, breakfast of sorts had seeing as I had sent Mrs Ohanlon home until further notice, and Al and I were off to the office followed by a black and white. Once we were in the office I went to Stan for the overnight report. "It was quiet all over again Dennis. I think we might just have ridden this one out." "I hope to hell so. I'm still going to keep and eye on whatever is left of Teramedies holdings though. Did you turn up anything on Rastan?" "Clean as a whistle as far as I can find. Looks like they are just in the right place at the right time with cash to spend." "So you'd have no problem givng them a buy recommendation?" "None what so ever, though I might keep an eye on their financials. They're spending a shit load of money on these acqusitions." "But they'll be in an excellent position to recoup that picking up the Teramedies obligations in both the short and long term." "True enough, but nothing says the other companies to which those obligations are owed will necessarily go to Rastan." "So more 'keep your eyes open'?" "As always Dennis." I made my way out to my desk and got setup for the day and Angelo showed up shortly after. "Before you ask, it's been quiet again. Stan thinks we may have seen the most of it." "I'm beginning to think so as well. Any recommendations for the day, other than keep our eyes open?" "None that I am aware of." Stan came out shortly after that and gave everyone the news for the day and just before the bell sounded Al got a phone call. He came over to me. "White collar division gives Rastan a clean bill, but Stimson appreciates that you're trying to keep us in the know." "Works both ways Al and thanks." The day got underway and it was a pretty regular day. Steady but not all out busy. I made it a point to check my imaginary investments and I was doing well. 4:30 finally came up on the clock and people started shutting down for the night. I went to find Stan for the daily recap. "Pretty standard day Dennis. Nothing big went down that I could see." "Nothing that I saw either. Looks like Teramedis has sold off all that he can easily and as far as I can tell it was all picked up by legit companies." "Looks that way to me as well. Now get out of here and try and relax tonight." Al and I were soon out the door and we again had an escort home. I did notice that it wasn't Dana but it was a face I had seen before. So it was home to Karls cooking tonight, sort of. He had ordered pizza for us,complete with breadsticks and salad. "Just so you don't turn into the takeout king lover." "Yeah not going to happen Den. I just didn't feel like cooking tonight." After we ate it was into the pool for a bit. Bobbie joined us as did Connie and the rest of Karls family for a change. It started getting dark out and the impromptu pool party broke up. Karl and I were soon ready for bed. I was making my rounds of the house to make sure everything was locked up, when Al got a phone call. He moved away from me to take it but I could see the tension in his body just by the way he was carrying himself. I didn't think this could be anything good.
