I'll get this to my friend and we'll just have to let events take their course." "The guy who is going to do this, you trust him?" "With my life Patrick." "Guess I can't ask for more than that." Angelo showed up about that point and we got set up for another day. Oue phones lit up even before the opening bell today and we were kept very busy. When time permitted I looked at things to see if I could spot the reason for so much activity. There was no one specific thing that I could point to for the cause. The activity was pretty much across the board in all segments of the market. 4:30 finally got there and the phones stopped ringing. "Mr Terrentolo, any ideas why it was such a busy day?" "None Mr Sawyer. Sometimes it just happens. Somebody sees something they interpret one way and others go a different way with it. People notice and it becomes a trickle, others notice that and before long it becomes a torrent. Face it, once in a while shit happens for no discernable reason." "I suppose that is what makes life interesting." "That it does Mr Sawyer. Have a good evening." "You as well sir." At that point Patrick came over to my desk. "Any idea when this is going to happen?" "Not tonight I don't think as I need to get the slip back to my guy. You've got a contact number on there right?" "Landline and cell." "I'll ask my guy to give you a call once Alex is picked up." "Thanks for trying to help Mr Sawyer." "It's Dennis Patrick. Mr Sawyer was my dad." "Wish I had known him,I got here just after the accident." "I think the two of you would have gotten along just fine. Now get out of here and try and relax." "Yes boss." I was soon enough out the door and when I pulled into the driveway Dana was there waiting on me. "You expected this to be filled out soonest I'm taking it?" I handed him the envelope with the form. "From the way you said the guy was worried, yeah I expected it to be fill out today and ready to go." "Any idea when it will happen?" "Precisely?, No but I'm betting within the next 72 hours if not sooner." "The chief is good with this?" "Oh yeah. We scare one kid straight and with any luck it has a bit of a snowball effect and a few more hit the straight and narrow." "Just let the guardian know when it happens so he doesn't get too worried." "Part of the procedure Dennis. So what's this kid to you?" "Little brother to one of my employees." "I know I don't have to ask, but why?" "Because I can and like I told my guy, we can't afford to waste a single kid or mind." "Works for me Dennis. Take it easy and I'll keep you informed." "Thanks Dana. Have a safe night." "You too Dennis." Dana got in his car and pulled away just as Karl pulled in. "What did Dana want?" I proceeded to explain the whole thing to him while Mrs Ohanlon got supper on the table. "Hope to hell you know what you're doing lover. This could blow up in your face." "It could or it could work and keep Alex from making a big mistake. If we can keep him from following in Joey Browns footsteps I'll be happy." "Speaking of, what have you heard about him lately?" "Now that I think of it I haven't. Maybe I'll call the lawyers tomorrow and see if there's anything to learn." "Are you really sure you want to learn it?" "Only way I'll find out if there's any good being done or if I'm just wasting my money." "What about the dad?" "Last I heard he was still out on bail. Don't know if or when they'll ever take him to trial." "After all of the shit he put us through they damn happy well better take him to trial." "Only so much time and so many resources Karl. There may be bigger fish to fry." "You mean folks like Teramedies." "Ya folks like him." Mrs Ohanlon was soon gone and we hit the pool tonight. Karl was still a bit upset with Mr Brown not being prosecuted yet. "Just take it easy lover,I'm sure they'll get to him evetually." "Yeah I suppose." We showered up and took some time in front of the tv before we crashed out for the night. Thursday morning broke bright and dry so it was the usual routine. Soon enough I was off to the office and found Stan. "Nothing unusual in the overnights or European markets. Even the Asian markets were quiet last night." "Why does this feel like the lull before the storm?" "Because we're all expecting Mr Teramedies to do something unexpected. It's not his style to just sit on all of that money." "What if he does something that isn't 'trackable'?" "We'd have no way of knowing, but there would be ripples somewhere. That kind of money changes hands and it still has to go into something." "This is starting to turn into an obsession. As of right now, we don't care what Andros does. We just ride the market as it comes to us." "Doesn't change how I'm going to watch things Dennis." "Didn't expect it to Stan. We're just not going to wait for the other shoe to drop anymore. If it drops it does and if it doesn't that's fine to." "Then it's time to get yurself in gear Dennis." I went to my desk and got things set for the day. Angelo and Patrick showed up at the same time this morning. Angelo looked at Patricks face and could see the question there and just motioned for him to go first. "Any news on when?" "Anytime between now and the next 72 hours. Procedure stipulates that you be called when it happens." "Thanks again Dennis." Patrick moved over to his desk and got ready for the day. "Do I want to know?" "Nope. Non business related and not for public consumption." "Anything from Mr Bellows this morning?" "Just that things seem to be getting back to normal levels." "Well that should make for an easy day." "I wish you wouldn't tempt fate like that Mr Terrentollo." Soon enough the opening bell was rung and we off to it again. It was a fairly regular day despite Angelo tempting the fates. Morning passed to afternoon which eventually brought us to 4:30. As soon as I got my desk shurdown, I headed into my dads office. I quickly dialed the lawyers. "Mr Sawyer what can I do for you today?" "I wanted to get an update on a few things Mr Jacobs. First of all on Joey Brown." "Last report I had was about a week ago. The therapist thinks they are making some progress and is hopeful that young master Brown will return to society as a useful person." "That is very encouraging to hear. And the case against his father?" "Waiting on the District Attorneys office to decide if they want to present or not." "You are ready for them should they do so, right?" "Oh you can rest assured that we shall provide them with everything they need to nail Mr Brown to the wall." "Has he engaged council?" "He will be represented by a public defender, which contrary to popular belief, doesn't mean the guy doesn't know his business." "And finally, what about the foster parents?" "Still working on getting a meeting with them Mr Sawyer." "Please keep at it Mr Jacobs, and thank you for your time." "Not at all Mr Sawyer." I got on the road home and because I had taken the time to call the lawyers Karl actually beat me tonight. "So, what kind of a day did you Den?" "Just the usual. I did call the lawyers though. Seems there might be hope for Joey, the DA hasn't reached a decision on prosecuting his father and they're still working on the foster parents. And yours?" "Dad started showing me how they match up clients and perspective employers. Not as easy as pull a file and send the people off and hope for the best." "Yeah I can imagine sending unqualified people would tend to make the perspective employers a bit cranky if it happened too often." Supper was soon on the table and we finished it off rather quickly. Tonight it was the workout room for us and then a bit of tv. I was making my rounds of the house when the phone rang. The caller ID said it was Dana. "Hey Dana." "They picked Alex up about 10 minutes ago."
