Mrs Castanza came out to see us as we pulled into the driveway and over to where it was agreed that Karl and I would park. "Well so good to see you boys so early. You had a good summer I hope?" "We did Mrs Castanza. I take it Paul is on campus?" "He is, but I suspect he will be home in short order. Will you boys be joining us for supper?" "I don't think so. We need to get ourselves set up and probably hit Wally World for some groceries." "Well don't forget that you are expected for dinners on Sundays." "We won't and on those rare occassions when we might be away we will make you aware." Karl and I started unloading those few things we had brought with us. That only took us about an hour. We took Karls car out to the mall and loaded up with some food and drink and a cookware set, a set of plates and cutlery. When we got back Paul had gotten home for a few hours at least. "Hey guys! Good to see you made it, but I wouldn't have expected you until the weekend." "Yeah I hear that, but I needed to be here for Frathouse Friday." "Yeah I was going to pass on that, but my roomie talked me into it just for shits and laughter. Let me help you guys get this stuff inside." While Karl was getting the groceries situated I loaded up the dishwasher with our new plates and cutlery. The cookware set I washed by hand. "Doesn't look like you guys will be cooking tonight." "We hadn't planned on it. Thought we might go hit up Rons." "He's still there and just as good as always. Maybe I'll see you out there." We got a few more things settled and then headed for Rons. The place was fairly crowded tonight but we found a place to park and made our way inside. There was an empty booth so we grabbed it and Gladys was soon there. "Well, that time already? Good to see you boys back. Menus?" "No for me. I'm having the bacon cheeseburger and a vanilla shake." "Make it two." "You guys make it so easy." Gladys was off to place our order and get our shakes. It wasn't too long before Paul did show up and when I saw who he had in tow you could have knocked me over with a feather. It was Cameron from the riding stables. When they both spotted us an waved they looked at each other as if to say 'what the hell?' They made their way over and sat down with us. "Thought you didn't want the college guys finding out about this place Paul?" "Yeah well I could hardly leave my roomie stranded now could I? So how is it that you guys all seem to know each other?" "That's easy roomie. I told you my dad runs a riding stable. These two have been clients for a few years. They're also the ones who encouraged me to get in shape." "If you're still jogging in the morning Cam, there are a couple of sophmores, who I bet will be in Cochran, that hit the bricks at about 6 in the morning. Unless they've upped their game over the summer they do 5 laps around the quad, about 4 miles." "I might just meet up with them. You guys going to be there with them?" "Up in the air at the moment. We need to see how the timing works out and we can't do that until tomorrow when we pick up our packets." Just about that time our food got there and Karl and I dug in. Paul and Cameron went off to see some other of Pauls friends. When we were finished we headed back to the apartment and settled in for the night. Friday morning I grabbed my gymnastics gear and Karl and I headed for campus. First thing first, we got our class schedules and headed over to the bookstore before things got crowded. That taken care of if was off to the rec center. It was time to find out if our original coach was back this year or if coach Warren had returned. I also needed to pick up the schedule for this year. When we got there I found the gymnastics room locked up with a notice posted. The room was closed until Monday afternoon at 4:30 at which time tryouts for the gymnastics team were to be held. What really got my attention was the last bit of the anouncement that all team members had to tryout. There would be no "carry overs" from last year. It was signed by a coach A. Wheeler, someone I had never heard of. "Why don't I like the looks of this Karl?" "Because it is the unknown. You're not worried that you won't qualify are you lover?" "Not a bit, but something about the whole thing is already rubbing me the wrong way." "So?" "I see some time on the computer over the weekend." "Another hunch?" "No just something just doesn't track." While we were here today I checked the locations for my classes and they were all pretty much clustered so I knew I wouldn't have a problem getting to them. Now I took a minute to look at the times. Not one of them started before 10 or went past 4. So with a little luck I at least could make the jogging with Gordon and Aiden and have enough time to get back for a shower and breakfast. Classes this year included Investment Vehicles on Monday Wednesday, and Friday,10-11. Next was a course on the law as they pertained to taxes on investments, 11:15 to 12:30. I then had a break until 3 when it was risk rewards analysis, bascially for to figure out if a company was worth investing in and just how risky it might be. Tuesday and Thursday were something else all together. It was simply listed as a practicum, and from what I got from the course syllabus was that it was the same thing I had just done for Angelo. It met from 12 to 1:30. So it looked like I was going to have plenty of time to practice my gymnastics and still be home in time to help Karl cook. We were headed back to the car when we ran into Paul and Cameron, who were on their way to the rec center. "Hey guys. Up to no good?" "Yeah just getting ourselves organized for the year. You guys getting lockers for the year?" "Damn right Den. I worked to hard to get in shape not to keep it up here. You never know what might present itself to be won over." I looked at Paul and could see in his eyes that he might well be hoping he fell into that category. Now I didn't know which way Cameron was going, but one comment that I did recall was that he had gotten attention for both sexes once he developed his body. Of course there was no mention on just which attentions he had returned. "Well they certainly have the facilities to take care of that for you Cam. Will I be seeing you guys at the Frat tonight?" "More than likely,we plan on hitting all of the houses." "Then we'll catch you later. Go get yourselves a workout." At which point Karl and I made our way back to my car and home to the apartment. Even in traffic it only took us a few minutes. I got on my computer to set up the new emails for all of the courses and when I was done with that I went and started a search on A. Wheeler. As you might expect I got dozens if not hundreds of hits ranging in age from 16 to 91. This was going to take a long time. I didn't even want to start it this afternoon and just shutdown the computer. I knew it was going to be a long night,so I took a bit of a nap. When I woke up Karl already had supper ready for us. It was simple enough, hot dogs with mac and cheese. "So are you coming with me tonight? I'm sure the guys won't mind." "Nope, I'm just going to kick back. I know that you won't be 'showing your room' to anybody." "Damn I better camp out near the door so I can warn Paul and Cameron." "Hey they're big boys now. They can make their own decisions." "They can indeed, but they should at least be informed decisions." "Yeah I suppose." I quickly finished dinner and hit the shower. Once dressed I headed over to the frat early so I could help set up if need be. I rolled into the houses parking lot and made my way inside. The guys were all there to glad hand me and congratulate me on the marriage. Kurt made no bones about wanting to have me by the front door merely for my "star" value. That was fine by me as it would make it easy to intercept Paul and Cameron. I lent a hand where needed to get things set up and the first guys showed up at the front door at about 8. I was keeping a watch out the front to make sure there wasn't a repeat of the red neck squad this year. Apparently word had gotten around from last year. Apparently there were a few gymnastics hopefuls in those that made it as far as our house as I was recognized more than once. It was about 9:30 when I saw Paul and Cameron walking up to the front of the house. Once Kurt welcomed them in I got them aside real quick and gave them the word about being invited upstairs. "Thanks for the heads up Den. You going to invite us upstairs?" "Paul, I'm a married man and you know it." I did see Camerons head turn back towards Paul with a bit of a questioning look on his face. I concluded that Paul hadn't told Cameron that he was gay yet. "Yeah, we'll go mingle and talk to folks." They melted into the crowd and I got back to the front door. As fewer people were heading our way I made my way back into the house. I was keeping my eyes open for Paul and Cameron. I spotted Paul on the stairs and heading up with Jared. Cameron I saw over in a corner with a couple of the other guys. He was just shaking his head no. Kurt was taking appilcations by this point so I started to mingle. Eventually I joined up with Cameron. "Nice bunch of guys in here." "For the most part yeah." "So, can I assume from what Paul said about going upstairs that he is at least bi?" "You can assume anything you want. Facts you will have to get from Paul." "Fair enough. Kinda thought I'd see Karl with you tonight." "He's not a member of the frat. He could have come with me but he decided to stay home." "Which is where now?" "Paul didn't tell you? We're renting an apartment from his dad. It's just a few minutes from campus. By the way I looked at my schedule and I'll be over for jogging in the morning." "Great! At least one familiar face." I caught movement on the stairs and saw Paul coming down with a smile on his face. "Guess he likes the rooms." "Cam, just take it easy if that's the way you want to go." "I'm giving it serious thought Den, but yeah I'll take it easy."
