"We got jumped after our last class. Didn't see who they were though. They had masks on." "Damn it! I was afraid this was going to happen. Have you guys pissed anyone off lately?" "Not that I can think of Den. Why what are you getting at?" "You heard what happened at Paladins last week right?" "Yeah." "Well I'm afraid those same guys are getting a bit more brave and going after individuals. This could get damn serious and in pretty short order." "Damn, you did warn us." "Yeah I wish to hell I had been wrong. The campus cops break it up?" "No, but we did make a report." "So no arrests and probably won't make it up to Dean Evans except as a footnote." "What are you getting at Den?" "Just trying to link it back to the guys that are trying to get the frat dissolved. We did that and the college could well move against them I think on harrassment charges, let alone what they could get for trashing Paladins." "This could end up being a major scandal for the college Den." "Yeah it could. Even worse if say any of the football team were involved, hell any of the sports teams." "You don't think they are do you Den?" "Hell if I know Cam. I sure as hell hope not. Mr Mcembers is getting me a list of the guys who were arrested and I'll turn that over to Dean Evans so he can check it against whoever is bringing suit against the frat. Then it is up to him." "Think if there is any crossover the Dean will do anything about it?" "I have no doubt that he will do everything he legally can Paul." We soon had our food eaten and headed back to the apartment. I was just hoping that nobody else got jumped today. Karl and I were soon enough sacked out for the night. Thursday rolled around bright and crisp and we were out for the usual routine. Comment was made by Aiden and Gordon on the conditon of Paul and Cams faces. Laps run and Karl and I were back to the apartment, showered and fed. He was off and I took my time. Eventually I headed in for the practicum. I didn't have to hang around for a review today and went a grabbed some lunch and finally went to the rec center for a workout. I changed up and stretched out and by the time I was ready to go there were quite a few of the other guys around as well. After we stretched out I must have stood there thinking for a few minutes as Dana was at my side. "You ok Dennis? Usually you get right to it." "Preoccupied I guess Dana." "Anything I or the team can help with?" "I doubt it like hell. Did you hear about the fight at a club last week?" "Yeah I heard something about a fight." "Well it was a gay club. Then yesterday a couple of gay friends of mine got jumped after class. Throw in on top of all of that there is a group trying to get the Frat I belong to dissolved. I'm thinking that there might well be a big problem developing." "Sure as hell sounds like it to me too. What can be done?" "Not a hell of a lot. I'm trying to get the names of the guys arrested for the club fight. I plan on turning that over to Dean Evans. If he can match even one of those names to the guys who are trying to get the frat thrown off campus, well I guess that would trigger a major investigation here on campus at least;which may see the frat case either dismissed or found in our favor." "I'll pass the word around for the guys to keep their eyes and ears open if you want." "Much as I am sure it might help, there's no telling who might be in on this and I don't want word getting back to them that somebody suspects. That'll make them shut things down and we might never find out for sure." "Yeah but it might also help keep more guys from getting beat up too." "Always possible Dana. Anybody you might have the slightest doubt about, I'd keep it to yourself." "Easy enough Den. Now you going to get to it?" "Yeah I will." I started at the pommel horse and worked through things, taking extra time to work on my floor and rings routines. Then it was into the pool for a few laps and the whirlpool before I hit the showers. It was strange that I was in the showers alone today, and then the lights went out. I instantly went into a crouch, to make myself a smaller target, and backed as quietly as I could, up against a wall. I started moving towards the light at the opening to the showers. I didn't see anything obscure the light so I was fairly certain I was in here alone, at least for the time being. "Who the hell turned the lights off in here?" It was a voice that I recognized as Danas, at which point the lights came back on, and Dana walked into the showers. "What the hell Den?" "If I had to guess a war of nerves has been launched. Probably just the first of many harrassing type moves to put people on edge." "You mean gay people?" "Precisely, but straight people might well get jumpy to if somebody planted the idea that gays were jumping straight guys." "Ok Dennis if you don't take this to Dean Evans I sure as hell am." "It's one incident that you've witnessed Dana, and it could just as easily have been an accident and somebody brushed up against the switch." "Yeah I suppose it could be no matter how unlikely. I'm keeping my eyes open from now on Den." "That's all that can be done Dana. I'll catch you when I catch you." I got dried off and dressed and headed home. Karl was already there when I pulled in. He knew something was eating me when I walked in the door. "What now lover?" "I think the situation just took another bump up. When I was in the showers alone after working out, the lights went out." "Shit! Did anything else happen?" "Thankfully no, but Dana showed up and he might have interupted things without realizing it." "You going to Dean Evans or campus security with it?" "Not at this point love, it could just as easily been an accident. After supper though I am going to make a quick trip to the frat and give them a heads up." "Kurt will probably laugh at you." "I doubting that Karl. I lay it all out for him and the others and I'm sure I'll be taken seriously." "I hope so Den." We had a quick supper and then we headed over to the frat. The guys were always happy to see us. I laid out my suspicions for Kurt and whoever else wanted to listen. "Dennis, I'm convinced enough to take it to the Dean even if you're not." "I'm thinking we should wait until I get that list of guys who were arrested from the bar fight. Make it all one package." "Yeah that would be the way to do it I suppose. Ok you guys, when possible try and travel in groups, When it's not keep your eyes open. I don't want to see anybody getting hurt." When we left the frat I checked the car over and didn't find anything. Karl and I drove back to the apartment and pretty much called it a night. Friday morning and we were up and at it again. When we got to campus for our jogging I didn't see any new bruises amongst our group. Laps were run and Karl and I made it home without any problems. We were soon enough fed and changed and on our way back to campus for classes. When I was on my way out of the tax class Mr Mcembers simply passed me an envelope. I didn't need to open it to know what was inside. I went and got my lunch and did open the envelope just to be sure it was what I thought it was. and then it was off to Risk/Rewards and the end of my school week. After class I made my way over to the admin building and to the Deans office. Once I was admited I laid my fears out for the Dean. "Given the past history Dennis I can see where you're coming from. At this point though it is all circumstantial. I'll check these names against the group filing suit against the frat and see if there is any corroboration. In the mean time I'm going to be posting a notice to the school bullettin board and an editorial to the school paper. I hope we can nip this in the bud." "I certainly hope so as well sir. There's no need for anyone to get hurt in all of this." I left the Deans office and went out and checked my car over and then headed home. I got there first and went upstairs and started to get things together for supper. Karl was late tonight, but I didn't think much of it until he walked in. He was sporting a few bruises tonight. "Son of a bitch! Those assholes want war then that is what they are going to get!" "Easy does it love. I gave a lot worse than I got, I think. They had masks so no idea who they were, and they split before campus security got there." "I don't much give a shit Karl. I'm not putting up with this shit." I went rummageing through my things and dug out the pepper spray and the taser I had ordered last year. "Those mother fuckers try anything with me and they are damn sure going to regret it or if I can catch them at any other gay guys." "Which may be just what they are aiming at Den. You get the gay populace up in arms and can't prove anything against the guys who are instigating things and opinion may well turn against us." "But we can't just sit here and let it happen either." "True enough love, so we remain defensive. We go on offense and that just escalates the whole damn thing even more." "Well I stopped and talked to Dean Evans before I came home tonight. He's going to post something to the bulletin board and submit an editorial to the school paper. I hope to hell that is enough to quiet things down." "If anybody bothers to read either one." "If they don't I'm willing to bet he will call a special assembly for the whole damn school." "It might be worthwhile if he had somebody to make an example of." "We can always hope somebody is stupid enough to volunteer." "Yeah not holding my breath on that one lover."
