Karl showed up not that much later. "Hey lover anything happen today?" "Not that I'm aware of Karl, though Mr McEmbers did tell me that the club is reopening on Friday." "Kinda glad you have an all day Saturday in that case." "You think something is going to happen?" "Let's face it Den it is a pretty tempting target. A fight or something breaks out in there and any number of people are going to get hurt and they've already been hit once." "Always a possibility I suppose. I did offer the futon to Gordon and Aiden if the curfew is still on." "I don't have a real problem with that Den. Finding a place for them to park though." "They'll have to settle for the street. Let's eat." So supper was had and it was back to the books once again. Thursday morning was clear and bright and we were once again at it. Laps were run, breakfast eaten showered and shaved and Karl was off and I had time to kill. I did some market research just to see if there was anything new out there that looked promising. I didn't find anything that I wanted for either my real or imaginary portfolios. Time came and I headed into campus for the practicum. The usual 15 minute lecture and it being Thursday, I was over to the student union for lunch early. I did hang around until my usual time in case anybody was looking for me. I then headed over to the rec center and get changed up. It was too early for the apparatus room so I hit the weight room and just took my time with a leisurely workout. About an hour later I checked and there were others in the room by now. So it was over to the apparatus room and a run through of all of my routines. It was an open practice so just doubles today. "Looking good Dennis. Don't forget there is an all day Saturday." "I won't coach." So I changed and hit the pool for a good half hour today and then it was off to the whirlpool. I had it all to myself today, which was fine. Showered and changed I made my way to the car and gave it the once over. A quick call to Karl and I was on the road. "Don't suppose the coach cancelled the all day?" "Not a chance in hell Karl. Why, have a change of heart and want to go to Paladins tomorrow night?" "Well, I wouldn't mind, but no way I'm going without you." "Don't trust yourself?" "Lets just say I would be more likely to give in to temptation if you weren't there." "Guess I have more faith in you than that love. Go if you want to. If Gordon and Aiden do crash here they're going to need a way to get in past the gate afterall." "True enough. I've got tonight and tomorrow to think about it." Once again we settled in for supper and then hit the books. Friday morning was a bit cloudy but we got our laps in with the guys anyway. Gordon told us that he and Aiden had resevations at a local place for the night, which kind of made Karls decision for him. He was going to stay home with me for the evening. So it was back to the apartment and the usual routine to get ourselves out to classes. I was home first this afternoon and decided if we weren't going to Paladins we could at least hit Rons for supper. Gordon and Aiden joined us before they were going to head to Paladins for the evening. Pete and Susan were out and about tonight and neither one of us asked where they were spending the night. Once everybody was on their way out of Rons, Karl and I just headed home. "So we crashng early tonight lover?" "Why should we do that Karl?" "Well you do have the allday tomorrow, but if I know you, you're going to be worried all night of something happening at Paladins and won't sleep for shit." "I'm betting that place is better protected than Fort Knox tonight lover. McEmbers isn't stupid and neither is the police department." "I hope to hell you're right Den." We did crash earlier than usual, but not by that much. We slept in as we knew that we weren't going jogging with the guys this morning as they were off campus. Once we did finally get up it was a quick breakfast and I was off to the allday. I asked around when I got to the rec center and it appeared to have been a quiet night on campus at least. We got right down to it and ran a whole meet twice through this morning. It was a closed practice so I threw the triples all around today. We took our break and everybody headed over to the student union to grab something to eat. Back to the rec center and another run through and then some individual work. By about 5 we were all beat. I still went and did a couple of laps in the pool before hitting the whirlpool. By the time I got there only Dana was around. "So what's the buzz on Prescott so far this year?" "They're having a decent season so far, but I think we got this one." "I hope to hell you're right. Having the win just before Christmas would sure be good." "Having a win anytime is a plus Dennis." I was soon enough showered up and had made my call to Karl. I checked the car over and headed home. I hadn't run into any of the guys today so had no reports on what might or might not have happened at Paladins last night. I got home without incident and was quickly upstairs. "Anything happen today lover?" "Not that I saw or heard about, but I didn't see any of the guys today." "I haven't heard anything either lover. Maybe this has all blown over." "I hope so. Think we should call Gordon and Aiden?" "No I'm betting they would have called us if something had gone down." "Probably, or the whole damn campus would have been abuzz with it." "Well get the table set, supper's on in 5." So supper was had and cleaned up after and we settled in front of the tv for the night, and then it was off to sleep. Sunday morning and the routine started all over again. We were into campus and everybody was there ready to do our laps. "So how was Paladins the other night?" "Outstanding! They've got a few new guys and as invited guests we were front and center and taken very good care of." "Sounds like we missed a good time. Well let's get these laps done." So we took off and got the laps done without any interference. Karl and I got home and straightened away and settled in to study for the rest of the morning and pretty much the afternoon. I had put the books up a bit before I heard Paul and Cam pull into the driveway. "It's that time lover." "Then I supose we had best get our butts down there." We did and helped set the table and dinner was soon served. "Rumor has it they're going to lift the curfew if things stay quiet tonight." "That sounds great Cam, but if they do don't let your guard down. That means if there are any guys left on campus who were behind all of this will be out and about as well." "Believe me Den, not something we haven't thought about. But it was a pretty public thing when those guys were thrown off campus. I'm thinking the administration made their point." "I'm sure they did. Doesn't mean that those guys are going to take it to heart though." "Yeah I suppose Den, but we can always hope." "Do you suppose that means they'll be running the bus for the meet next weekend?" "It would be a close run thing, but they should be able to get back here in time if the curfew is still in effect." "I hope they are going to do it. I think the team has come to expect the support." "Guess we can check later lover and see if there is a signup sheet on the bulletin board." "True enough Karl." We finished supper and things cleared away and Cam and Paul headed back to campus and we were upstairs. I did check and the sign up sheeet was there, which was a bit of a relief. Karl and I got our stuff together for classes and then crashed. Monday morning came in cloudy, but no rain. So we were up and out and laps taken care of and then back to the apartment. Showered and fed it was off to classes. Investemnet Vehicles was gotten through as was the tax course. I stopped to speak to Mr McEmbers for a moment. "So how was the grand reopening?" "Couldn't have gone better. Missed having you there, but your friends had a good time of it." "I'm sure you had things well taken care of. I just wouldn't let up for a few weeks, especially if they lift the curfew as is rumored to be happening." "Oh we have no intention fo 'blinking' Dennis. Our security has been doubled, both internally and externally. The police departmewnt has seen to it there is always at least one car in the neighborhood and the fire department is fully staffed and ready to go, I've been told." "Sounds like the bases are all covered. I'll let you get to your next class." I headed over to the student union as usual and grabbed my sandwich, but stayed inside today. I just hung out until it was time for Risk /Rewards and then got that class taken care of. We had a mandatory workout tomorrow so I headed home. Over the course of the last year it had become a habit to check my rearview more often. Today was no different and I thought I was being followed. I took some random turns and the car that I thought was following me only took one of them and then just drove straight on when I took the second one. I got back on course for the apartment and just chalked it up to coincidence.
