Monday morning saw us kicking in the routine and Karl and I were soon enough back to the apartment to get ready for the day. "You doing anything after your last class Den?" "Nope, I'll be heading home today, why?" "Just checking lover." We headed into campus and I hit the Investment Vehicles class. The review only took about half the time so I had time to kill before heading into the tax class. Mr McEmbers took the entire time for review and then I headed over to the student union for my lunch. Pete happened by today. "So rumor is you're going to be taking classes next year." "It's a distinct possibility Pete, and I am leaning in that direction." "I'm sure your coach is happy about that." "He is, and it puts off the decision to just how I'll stay connected to the sport for another year." "You could still go the Olympic route." "I could, but I'm not going to. I need to take care of business." "Yeah, I suppose. I need to get going Den. Later." I finished my lunch and just waited until it was time for Risk/Rewards. That review taken care of, I headed back to the apartment. For the rest of the week, the only thing I had to do was go in and pick up my practicum results and then the 3 tests on Friday. I had supper just about ready when Karl pulled in. "So anything happen for you today lover?" "Not a thing Den, you?" "Nope with the exception of picking up my practicum results, I'm done until Friday morning. I'm still going to hit the apparatus room tomorrow and Thursday though." "When is coach calling the all day?" "Both Saturdays before we leave." "That's going to keep everybody on their toes." "Yeah, and I'm pretty sure there will be work done in between as well." "Oh, I have no doubt in my mind lover. Just take some time to relax as well." "Hey, I'll have you around this year so I'll make time." We sat down and had our supper and then we both went to reviewing for our tests. Tuesday morning dawned and we were up and out for the usual routine. Karl headed in for his reviews and I waited until almost 12 to head in and pick up my graded paper. "Ahh Mr Sawyer, congratulations you got the highest grade in the class." "Thank you, Mr Wells. Just as a matter of curiosity, did everyone pass?" "They did Mr Sawyer. Keeping an eye on the competition?" "Wouldn't you sir?" "Quite right. Good Luck with your exams Mr Sawyer." "Thank you, sir." I then headed over to the student union and got myself some lunch. I walked some of that off and then headed over to the rec center for my workout. There wasn't anyone there to spot me this early in the day with reviews going on. I considered working out anyway and then thought of the consequences if coach caught me at it. So I waited and about an hour later a couple of the guys showed up. We all took turns spotting each other. We all worked each piece of equipment and eventually, I headed off to the pool and then the whirlpool. I headed home and found that Karl was there ahead of me today. "So anything special today Den?" "Other than acing the practicum, not a thing." "Congrats. Let's just hope the rest of it goes as well." "Amen to that." After supper, we settled down to review again. Wednesday after jogging with the guys, was again spent in review. Thursday dawned a bit cloudy, but we went and got our jogging in with the guys anyway. Once back to the apartment, Karl got ready for the day of testing. "Good luck today lover." "You just behave yourself until I get home." "You may well get home ahead of me if I hit the gym this afternoon." "If you do go, just take it easy. You still have tests tomorrow." "And then I have to move into the dorms. At least I have until 10 pm to do that." Karl was off and settled into review once again. After lunch, I was getting a bit restless, so I headed into the rec center. Once again there wasn't anybody there so I had to wait. Gary came strolling in. "I can spot you, Dennis." "Like hell, you can. Almost two years into treatment and you think I'm going to put you at risk like that?" "Dennis I've been watching and in all of those two years, I think I've seen you need help a total of twice. I'm willing to take the chance." "Well, I'm not. I can wait for somebody to show up. I won't take the risk of undoing all the work and pain you've already gone through." "Have it your way, Dennis." I waited a bit longer and the guys did start to drift in. Today it was Greg and Josh who showed up. Things had long since worked themselves out and there wasn't any problem with us all spotting each other. I worked all of the equipment today and then made my way to the pool. It was pretty deserted today with testing going on and then reviewing for tomorrow's tests. I eventually had enough and headed for the whirlpool. Once again I had it all to myself today. 15 minutes of soaking and I headed for the showers and shortly after that on my way back to the apartment. Karl came in not too long after I got there. "How'd it go today lover?" "Smooth sailing Den. I may not have aced things but I know I did damn well." "Out fucking standing! Tomorrow is going to be just as good." "I can only hope." We had our supper and then settled into review one more time. Friday morning and we were up and out once again. "How'd yesterday go for you guys?" "I think I'm good to go Den." "Good to hear Paul." "Yeah me too" "Me three." "Me four." "Good to hear guys. In case I don't see you all before you leave, have a good summer." "Hell Den I don't know about these other guys, but Aiden and I already got our reservations and tickets for the all-state." "I'm not likely to have any time to socialize Gordon." "I know Den, but I want to see you guys whip ass." "Hope we don't disappoint you." We finally got our laps in and everybody headed for their showers. So it was off to Investment Vehicles and the first of my finals. It was a pretty straightforward test. We had to define the pros and cons of each type of investment. Most of the class was done with it in fairly quickly. So now it was time to kill until the tax course with Mr McEmbers. I was outside and just skimming my notes again. Bob Watson found me sitting there. "So Dennis, any truth to the rumor that you'll be back taking classes next year?" "I'm considering it Bob, but that's hardly a story." "Yeah, I was just curious for my one sake. Maybe I'll still have something to write about after all." "Always a possibility, but I wouldn't count on it. Now I have to get it in gear for a final." "Yeah so do it. Good luck at the all-state." "Thanks." Bob headed off and so did I. The test in the tax class was situational. Given the facts of a business, we had to determine which laws, in general, were particular to it. This one took me almost all of the time allotted. When I handed in my paper Mr McEmbers wished me luck at the all-state and a safe summer. Now I had a full hour and a half to kill before Risk/Rewards, so it was over to the student union for some lunch and a quick review of those notes. Nobody stopped to talk today as they could see I had my nose buried in my notes. When it was time I headed over to the class. The test gave us the facts of 50 different companies and we had to rank them. It took almost as long to read the test as it did to do the actual work. I wasn't the first one done, but neither was I the last. Finally, I was done, not just with the test, but with the year. I headed back to the apartment and quickly packed away my books and notes and started supper for us. Karl came in at about his usual time and we sat right down to eat. I quickly cleaned things up and then I snuggled on the couch with Karl. I wouldn't get to spend the night with him for over two weeks. Of course, our days were ours to do with as we saw fit. We just spent a couple of hours there on the couch and along about 9 I grabbed the bag I had packed and gave Karl one final long kiss and then headed back over to campus. I checked into Cochran Hall and finally found the room I had been assigned. The 10 pm bedcheck was done and I waited for 11 to roll around. My phone buzzed. "Try and sleep well, lover. Miss you already. See you for jogging." "Miss you too. See you in the morning." The lights went out, but it took me forever to fall asleep.
