I quickly hit the "no" icon and hoped that it was Larry and that the police were right on the spot to get him. I wasn't really holding my breath on that one, but anything was possible. I made my way back to the room and waited to hear something. The afternoon dragged on until it was almost time for supper. There was a knock at my door and I carefully opened it to see Karl standing there. "Are you tired of acting like a hermit yet?" "Sorry love but you know damn well I have every reason to be doing so. If Larry is in the area, and I have every reason to believe that he is after this afternoon, I'm sure as hell not giving him a free shot at me." "What makes you think he's in the area?" "Somebody tried to make a withdrawal from my savings account at the mall according to the text message I got." "Shit! Have you heard anything from the police yet?" "Not a word other than I was cleared of the bomb charges." "Well that should be a weight off your shoulders." "Until his next scheme." Gordon and Aiden came by at that point. "Hey Dennis can I get you to do me a favor on Monday?" "Yeah probably." "I finally get to get these damn casts off if I can get to the hospital. Can I get a lift?" "Sure not a problem as things stand at the moment." "Right after class then. I will be so damn glad to be able to walk like a normal person again." "Believe me I appreciate the feeling after all the rehab I had to do once I woke up. You may need a cane for a while." "Even with that I'll at least be able to wash everything. I know I'm probably going to be pretty rank when these mothers come off." I knew I had just committed myself to going off campus after telling Karl I wasn't going to give Larry a free shot, but I couldn't ask Karl or Pete to do it for me either. The rest of the weekend went by without incident, as did Monday jogging and classes. I waited for Gordon and Aiden to finish their last class and went out to check over the car. They were soon enough there and we headed off campus to the hospital. I was still keeping a close eye on things and I noticed a car that was identical to Larry's seemed to be following us. We made it to the hospital without incident and the car passed right on by behind us. I felt a little stupid for being that paranoid as there must have been thousands of that particular model running around. We went into the hospital and waited until Aiden had gotten his casts off and both his leg and arm had been scrubbed down. Soon enough, after I had checked the car once again, we were on our way back to campus. I checked my rearview and there was that car again. It was to damn much of a coincidence as far as I was concerned. "Gordon get on your cell and call the police. I think, and I hope to hell I'm wrong, that Larry Brown is on our tail." I didn't try to shake him at this point, but I did head for a less busy area to minimize any damage that might be done if Larry tried anything. Gordon stayed on his phone and gave the police a running account of our location. We had made it outside of the urban area and the next thing I knew I was rammed from behind. I managed to keep control of the car and kept on driving. I was rammed again. I kept on driving. I was leading Larry to a dead end road and by now there were several police cars in pursuit as well. Larry was to close to us for them to effectively cut him off. I looked to make sure that there wasn't any traffic coming. "Tell the police I'm going to pull a hard brake screwy uie and then they should be able to cut him off. Hold onto your hats. !.....2....3!" I cut the wheel and yanked on the hand brake. We bumped up against the curb on the far side of the road, but didn't roll as the other cars shot past us. I was counting on Larry not knowing the roads around here and I got back going in the right direction just so I could see the outcome. Before I caught up with what was going on an ambulance came roaring up behind us and I pulled over and let him pass. When I got to the end of the road, I could see that Larry had ended up wrapping himself around a tree. The car was totaled and they were loading Larry into the ambulance. The officers on scene kept us far enough away that we really couldn't see anything. We each had to give our account of the whole thing to the officers and it was dark out before we were allowed to leave the scene and head back to campus. "Geez it fucking took you long enough." "Karl, you have no idea." The next hour was taken up explaining what had happened. "Hey I just thought. That was a move they taught us in that driving course we took before you had the accident! I wonder if that's a good sign?" "I guess it could be Karl,or to damn many action movies over the last year. Regardless Larry is in custody and we can breath a bit easier I hope. Let's hit the cafeteria and get something to eat and call it a night. I'll check out the damage to the car tomorrow." We went and ate and Karl and I took a bit of a walk and had our goodnight kiss and went to our rooms. I got a bit of class work done and the usual 11 pm messages were exchanged. Tuesday morning came along and I was out to do my jogging and was surprised as hell to find Aiden out there with us. "I may only make once around the quad while you guys get your 5 laps in but I got to start somewhere." "Well just don't push yourself to frigging hard. We don't need you back in the hospital again this close to Thanksgiving and mid terms." "Amen to that." I kept an eye on Aiden as we made our way around the quad. He did make it his once around and then we headed inside for our shower. "Do you know how fucking good it feels to be able to stand and take a real shower agian?" "Do you have any idea how good it is not to have to wrap you up like fragile china so you can take a shower?" Yeah we were all happy to have Aiden out of the casts. Classes went along for the day and when I got back to my dorm, Andy flagged me down. "I've got your computer here. The FBI dropped it off a few minutes ago. They said to tell you that they had cleaned out all of the malware that Larry had put on it. Everything else they left alone." "Thanks Andy. Let me go and get the room open and I'll get it out of your way." I took care of that and got the system set up again. I had been able to keep up with my email using the college system so there wasn't a problem there. I did check it for the last couple of days and there wasn't anything that looked important. I went out into the parking lot to take a look at the damage to the car in the daylight. There was no mistaking I was going to have to file an insurance claim. I got on the phone to my company and they told me they would have an adjustor out to look at it the following day and asked me what would be a good time. I gave them a time after classes. "Shit lover he did a job on your rearend." "And here all of this time I thought that was your job. I'm betting this is going to go a couple of grand. Good thing I have a copy of the police report to give them, or they probably would never believe me." Gordon and Aiden must have seen us as they came by to get a look as well. Shit he whacked you pretty good. Well guess it's my turn if you need a ride anywhere Den." "Thanks Aiden I'll keep it in mind." At that point my cellphone rang. "Mr Sawyer, this is detective Reynolds. I've been asked to inform you that Mr Brown is asking for you and also to let you know that he isn't expected to live. You are of course under no obligation to go and see him." "Thank you detective. I'll take it under advisement." "Detective? What now Den?" "Larry's asking to see me and there isn't much hope for him." "Tough noogies! You don't owe that sorry SOB a damn thing lover." "No I don't and I didn't say I was going to go and see him did I?" "No you didn't, but I can see the damn wheels turning lover. I bet if you called the lawyers they'd tell you to stay away." "More than likely. He probably just wants to spit in my face one last time. Karl?" "You are out of your everloving mind. You just said it yourself. He probably wants to get in one more jab at you and nothing else." "And just maybe he wants to apologize and find a little peace for himself. It would be pretty small of me to deny him that at this stage." "Fine let's go over and get my car though. Driving yours would probably get you a ticket." Karl and I went over to his dorms parking lot and once the car was checked over we got in and made our way to the hospital. We found out what room Larry was in and made our way in that direction. When we approached the room there were several people around it. Karl grabbed my arm and pulled me to the side of the corridor. "That's Larrys parents up there love. I recognize them from the gymnastics meets. You don't remember I know, but he used to give your dad shit after everybody found out you're gay. I'd expect him to be pretty pissed about now." "Thanks for the heads up. Now let's get this over with." We approached the room and the dads eyes fell on me. "What are you two little faggots doing here? Come to gloat?" "No sir. I never wished this for Larry. I was told that he has been asking to see me." "No way in hell. I forbid it." "George, please, if it's what he wants?" Mr Brown looked at his wife and took her hands. "Alright. Make it quick Sawyer." I went into the room and Larry was awake. I moved into his field of view and he noticed me. Larry made a "come closer" motion. I moved closer to him and bent down to hear more clearly. His hand shot out and grabbed my shirt. "I'm.....not done......with you yet."
