Monday was mostly a rest day with a lot of spooning and movies during the night We decided last night that we would get up early and take our things to the new house and see what we may need to make it our home. We needed to know if there was furniture inside and, if so, what was it like. Would it be in our tastes? We didn't know. We decided to go see both campuses and check on what we were going to that we didn't already have. Both LECOM and Penn State, nestled among the westerly mountains, were absolutely gorgeous. And the wafting of the mountain laurels coming down the mountain sides mixing with all the other flowering scents was nothing less than heavenly. The thing that was so beautiful at Penn State was their preservation of the old stone buildings on campus, the mountain laurels strategically placed around campus with hundreds of other flowering plants. Dale and Charley were mesmerized. I can't say Peyton and I weren't. We strolled over to the Engineering Department to meet with the head of the department. As soon as we walked in her office, she immediately broke into a wide grin and said, "Hi, I am Dr. Elisabeth Anderson, you have got to be Dale Anderson and Charley Leonard! Dale said, "Yes mam, you are correct." "I have heard so much about you two, I can't wait for you to be a part of our program. And you must be Jaiden Reynolds, and you must be Peyton Riley." Jaiden said, "yes, mam, that would be us." "It is such an honor to meet all four of you! Eight first-ever events at Wellstone's graduation ceremonies, you guys are famous around here! Let me show you around the department. Jaiden, your mom and I are first cousins. We see each other at meetings but we are too busy to get together like we would prefer. This is Dr. Rajendran. He is the head of our Engineering Management Program." "Dr. Rajendran, it is nice to meet you, I am." ..." wait, you have to be Dale Anderson and Charley Leonard." "Yes, sir that would be us." "You know you guys are famous in these parts, don't you?" "Sir, we are beginning to learn that fact." "Jaiden Reynolds, I presume." "Yes sir, I'm he." "Jaiden, you probably don't remember me, I am sure, I was a good friend of your Dad, and your mother, Peggy, and I continue to be good friends." "That, Dr. Rajendran, is very interesting." "Jaiden, did you know your Dad got a Master's Degree in Biomedical Engineering here at Penn State?" "No, sir, I was rather young when Dad died in the plane crash." "Come, let me show you one of our text books. "Advanced Studies in Bio-Medical Engineering, Dr. Jaiden Robert Reynolds Sr. M.D. FACS, M.S. Bio-Medical Engineering, Author." "Peyton, it all makes sense to me now. Dad truly did want to help children in Africa and at St. Jude's." "It appears he did, Jaiden, and he earned your tears." Mom and Dad never spoke of this. They truly are quiet, unassuming people. Damn." "Jaiden" Dr. Rajendran said, "Your Dad was famous in this part of the country for his desire to help children whether they could afford treatment or not. And your Mom, Peggy was right there beside him all the way." Jaiden was sobbing at this point, and I did my best to help him through this new found information about his Dad's goodness. "Peyton, seeing how you are standing with Jaiden, it is no wonder Peggy loves and supports you the way she does. You with Jaiden is a carbon copy of Peggy and Robert." "Thank you Dr. Rajendran, that means so much to me." "Dale, Charley, this is Dr. Ray Jansen, Director of Environmental Engineering. I believe you are familiar with his brother who is Mayor of Pensacola, Florida." "Yes, mam, I am very familiar with and very grateful to Mayor Jansen." "Young men, it is an honor to meet each of you. Your reputations precede you." "This is one of our texts I thought you would be interested in seeing: Advanced Studies in Environmental Engineering, Peggy Reynolds, DO, MSE, author." Jaiden couldn't say a word right now. "Peyton, do you see what I am seeing?" "Yes, Jaiden, I am." "I thought I could see Mom's hand in all this, but now I am sure." "Dale, Charley, I had no idea my Mom loved you two so much that she would do this. I know she is a good person, loves people, and is devoted to her patients, but I had no idea she had done so much in environmental engineering. I knew I was blessed, but I didn't know it was this much." Since finals were being given this week at Penn State, we decided to visit the LECOM Campus. Like Penn State, LECOM had a backdrop of mountains and the floral scents rolling down the mountains as well. We were walking around the campus taking in the sites when we were stopped and asked, "Are you Jaiden Reynolds and Peyton Riley?" "Yes, we are, whom do we have the pleasure of meeting?" "I am Dr. Robert Jacobs. I believe you met my brother this past weekend, Mayor Jacobs from Milton, Florida." "Yes, sir, we did have the honor of meeting him at graduation." And you two must be Dale Anderson and Charley Leonard." "Yes, sir, that would be correct." "Well, welcome, we have heard so much about you four. If there is anything I can do to help either of you, just call me. Here is my business card. Jaiden and Peyton, you will have one of my classes Fall Semester. I look forward to working with you." "Likewise, sir," Jaiden replied. "It looks like where ever we go, everybody knows us," Jaiden said. "What say we go to the cafeteria and try out the grub, what do y'all say, Peyton?" Better to find out now than later and not like the food." We got in the chow line and the foods offered were amazing and healthy. Peyton and I got the sliced roast beef, asparagus, a mixed green salad with blue cheese dressing. Dale and Charley got the baked fish, mixed vegetables, and a salad with ranch. "Dale, Peyton, what do you think of the food?" "Jaiden, if the food at Wellstone had been this good, we'd all be as fat as pigs." Peyton chimed in, "Amen to that." "Well, I guess it's time to ride over and check out the house. We need to check out where we will be living" Jaiden said. Peyton said, "might as well. Charley, Dale, y'all in?" Dale said, "Let's go for it." As we pulled into the driveway, there was a car there. "Wonder who is here?" Peyton said. Dale said, "I don't know, but this place is even more beautiful than it seemed in the video at graduation." "Yes, Dale, it truly is," Jaiden said. We drove into the garage and went into the house through the carport door. "Hello," Jaiden, Peyton, y'all come on in, I am almost through cleaning. Is Dale and Charley with you?" "Yes, mam" We waited in the kitchen and the lady came in and said, "Yep, y'all sure do look like yall's pictures. I'm Martha. Your parents have me coming over twice a week to help y'all keep this place straight, and to keep y'all straight. All you boys sure are handsome." "Thank you." Jaiden said, "And your last name would be?" "Stuart, Martha Stuart." "It's nice to meet you Ms. Stuart." "Jaiden, I'm just plain ole Martha and you can call me that." "We were raised to address my elders respectfully. I think we would be more comfortable calling you Ms. Stuart. We owe you that respect." "He heeeee, your mamma told me you'd say that. Whatever makes you comfortable, son. And thank you for being respectful. Old black women don't usually get that." "Well, you will here," Peyton said. "Y'all come on over here and give this old woman a hug. I think we're gonna get along just fine." "So, do I," Jaiden told her. "Peyton, I think your sister was right." "How so, Ms. Stuart" "Son, you sure do know how to pick'em." Jaiden was about to die laughing, "Peyton they have you pegged, and your face is redder than I have ever seen it, too funny." "Ms. Stuart said, "You bet your bippy, son." "Jaiden, I got you and Peyton set up in the bedroom up the steps to the left. Dale, Charley, y'all are in the bedroom up the steps on the right. I think you'll like what you see. Everything is brand spanking new. Now don't just stand there, go up and see your rooms." "Yes, mam, Ms. Stuart. We all went upstairs to see our bedrooms. Jaiden and I heard Dale sit down and start balling, so we went over to check on him. There on the dresser was a picture of his parents and a picture of his brother. On the other side of the dresser was a picture of Charley's parents. "Dale, what is wrong bro?" "Jaiden, I have never had a picture of my parents. I never felt like they liked me until graduation. This all has been a bit much for me." Ms. Stuart was standing in the door. "Dale, boy, let me tell you something. Your parents may not like something you say or do, but you are their son and they will love you come hell or high water. It may take them a while to get there, but they will always get there." Dale got up and went over to Ms. Stuart and hugged her like she was his mother. "Now don't you ever forget what I told you." "Yes, mam, Ms. Stuart." She looked at Dale and said, "And I'll tell you something else, I love you too. You deserve it." That got her another hug from Dale. "Now once you four boys get started in school in September, I'll be here every Monday and Thursday. If you need me more, just let me know. I'm gonna leave now to let you boys take all this in, I know it is a lot." "Thank you, Ms. Stuart." As she was walking out the door, we all gave her a hug and a kiss on the cheek. Dale sat at the kitchen table with his head in his hands and let it go. Charley went over to him, placed his arms around Dale's neck and said, "Love it is about time you got something nice in your life. We both have so many people to thank and when we get through school, the way we are going to thank them is by paying all this forward. We went to see the downstairs area and found a note in each of the rooms. Ms. Stuart apparently left the notes telling us the lower bedrooms were set up for our parents to visit. The last sentence in the note was what got us all: "Boys, your parents will visit. You are your parents child, and they will visit. If they don't, they gone have to deal with old Martha Stuart, and I don't think they want to do that." "Everything is so pretty. The furniture, the decorations, it's just so beautiful. I have never lived in a home like this." "Dale, Charley, I have to tell you that I knew about a lot of this beforehand. There is a note for each of you in the middle dresser drawer in your bedroom that you need to go get and read," Jaiden told them. Jaiden and I watched them go back upstairs, heard them open the drawer, and then heard Dale just lose it. Dale's dad had written him a note as had his mother. Reading what his Dad had written is what got him. That is something we were going to leave to Dale, we weren't going to ask and invade that privacy. We just told him that if he needed to talk, we were there for him. If he felt better talking to Mom Reynolds, he could do that as well. He said he understood. Charley, he was just Charley, He had been hurt so many times by his family that he didn't show much emotion at all except when it came to Dale, and then you better leave him alone. They have come so far, and there is no doubt it's through the love and support of Jaiden and I and Jaiden's Mom. "Dale, Charley, would you two mind joining Peyton and I at the kitchen table?" "Coming." "Peyton and I have spoken to each other about this and we want to present it to you. Our parents have no idea that we are going to be married at next Saturday's party. But we are. We haven't talked about our faith, but Jaiden and I are Jewish and there will be a Chuppah in the dining room when everybody gets there. You have lived in North Carolina at Wellstone long enough to qualify to get a marriage license in North Carolina. Would you and Charley like to get your marriage license here and joins us on the Chuppah and get married along with us?" Charley said, "are you serious? You wouldn't mind us doing that?" "Not at all," Peyton said. Dale looked at Charley and said, "I think I would like that, if you don't mind." "I don't mind at all, Dale, not at all. The only question is what will we do for a honeymoon?" Jaiden told Charley and Dale, "A honeymoon is for people to get used to being alone in a sexual way, and, quite frankly, we are all used to that already. We have a trip planned and there will be instructions in Peyton's car after the party. We thought we would bring you two along if you don't mind, because Peyton and I surely don't. We really have come to love you as if you are our brothers." "I don't think there will be a flight involved, but if there is, we will deal with it," Jaiden told them. Besides he and I knew they, more likely than not, would be unable to take a honeymoon, so, why not, that is what friends and brothers do. Jaiden said, "Ok, we'll go back to Mom's tonight and go to the courthouse first thing in the morning and get you two a marriage license. Tonight, though, I would just like some cozy time for the four of us with an early evening walk in the cool mountain air. We need to have clear heads in the morning when we go to get the marriage licenses." "Licenses as in plural," Dale said. "Yes, as in plural," Peyton replied. "We are going to get our license tomorrow as well." `WOW, this has my head spinning. It is going to be such a surprise to everybody." "Yes, it is, and one of the questions is going to be about insurance. That is covered under your parent's insurance until you are 26. Besides, Mom is going to be our doctor, so that avenue is covered." We got back to Mom's in time for dinner, so we all went to the country club for dinner. It's prime rib and asparagus night. When we got home from dinner, we sat with Mom in the den, had a cup of coffee, and just talked. I could tell by how she was talking to Dale and Charley that she wanted to make sure they were ok. I noticed Dale looking at a picture on the den wall. Jaiden spoke up and said, "Dale. Are you interested in that old picture?" "Yes, I am Jaiden." "The man in the picture is my grandfather, my Dad's father. He was an Orthodox Rabbi until he passed away." "I guess I have a lot to learn." "Don't worry, Peyton and I will be more than happy to answer any questions you may have and to teach you about out faith." "Thanks, Jaiden. `You're certainly welcome, bro." "I am trying to get my head wrapped around all this." Mom spoke up and said, "Dale, what you need to understand is that you have gotten a raw deal in a lot of things. I am not saying they are right or that they are wrong, it just isn't the way I would have handled things. My son and Peyton love you dearly and because they do, I do. You are as much a son to me as they are which brings me to another point: stop calling me Dr. Reynolds and just call me Mom." "Yes, Mom." Mom was doing the hand- clapping and laughing thing again. But one thing is for sure, she meant every word she said. "Well, fellas, it is my reading time, so I am going to my office and rest and do some reading." I waited until Mom got in her office and knocked on the door. "Come in, Jaiden." "Mom, how did you know it was me." "Jaiden do you really think either of those other boys would know where my office is in this house or much less that they would knock on my door?" "No, mam. I just wanted to say thank you for everything. I learned a lot about you today that I didn't know." "Like what?" Like "Peggy Reynolds, DO, M, Env Sci, author." Mom just smiled and said, You're welcome, son." We hugged and I left her office with tears in my eyes. "Guys, we can stay up here and talk or we can go downstairs and sit in the cool mountain air and talk. Your call." Everybody opted for the downstairs patio and the cool mountain air, so there we would go. "Jaiden, are you and Peyton sure you want to share the Chuppah together?" "Yes, we are Dale, and it is pronounced as Hoopa. I talked to the Rabbi this morning and he said he would be proud to have you join us." "Jaiden, I wouldn't be telling the truth if I didn't say I just don't understand why so many things have happened for the good. That just hasn't ever happened to me before. I mean, Dad apologizing to me at the graduation ceremonies. Charley's Dad apologizing, and both finally accepting us for who we are and who we will be, married to whomever we wish to be married. It's just so heavy." "Dale, after what I learned today about my parents, things I never knew before, I have a strong feeling that there is a stubborn Jewish lady upstirs and a Jewish Veterinarian down south who had a lot to do with everything. Charley's Dad apologized for being such an ass, and Dr. Riley has had a lot of experience dealing with horse's asses. My Mom, Let's just say she doesn't shy away when she thinks someone is not being treated right. There is no doubt that she and Dr. Dad had a discussion with your Dads. I don't know that it did happened, but based on what I have seen, it happened, and thank God it did." "Amen to that, Jaiden." "Dale, Charley, do you see those tables over there?" "Yes." Do you know what they are?" "No." "They are massage tables and I am about to show you how to use them." I got up and went to get the towels out of the cabinet and put them on the tables. `Peyton, can you come over for a second?" "Coming." "I want to give Dale a massage and show him how it is done, can you do the same for Charley?" "Sure." "Dale, would you and Charley come over a minute?" "On the way." "Take your shirts and pants off but leave your underwear on and then get on the tables face down. You both need to relax and Peyton and I are going to help you learn to do that." I pulled some Albolene cream out of the cabinet and handed Peyton a Jar and kept one for me and Dale. I took a little bit of cream in my hand and began to massage Dale's shoulder blades. I don't think I have ever felt someone so tense as Dale is. I used a medium pressure to get his muscles to relax. When they relaxed, I began working his back moving my palms up and down his spine. One hand over the other to give the maximum pressure possible, I would move down his spine and back up his flanks until they relaxed. I massaged the side of his gluteals and that was it in that area. I told him that when I gave Peyton a massage, I would really give his butt a good massage all over, but that was something Charley would have to do for him. After we finished massaging Dale and Charly's gastrocnemius muscles on the backs of his legs, I told him he was really tense and need to lighten up. Now, turn over. It was obvious they were enjoying the massages when they turned over because they couldn't have been more erect if they tried. First, they received a light temple and face massage. Then we proceeded to massage their pectoral muscles followed by their trunks. I explained to Dale that when massaging the stomach area, you put one hand over the other, pressed down slightly and then downward and back up, that this made the pelvic area flood with blood causing a morefull and longer erection. We finished up with the thighs and feet and then took a towel and wiped off any excess Albolene cream. At this point, both Dale and Charley were more relaxed than we had seen them all year. Peyton picked up Charley and carried him into his bedroom, and laid him on the bed on his left side. I took Dale into the bedroom and laid him on his left side spooned up to Charley. Then I walked out leaving the accent lighting on and shut the door. It was quiet for the rest of the night.
