I think we have all learned we need some private time away from each other. It's not that our friendship is suffering, far from it, it is growing; however, we need some intimate time for the two sets of spouses. We decided that we would go to the Kaanapali Luau. While we are Jewish and I generally don't eat pork, it is permissible to eat pork since the ancient dangers of eating pork have been eliminated with refrigeration. We walked down and paid the fees for the dinner and got the schedule. Peyton happened to say he never thought he would be attending a true luau on his honeymoon. The person taking our reservation turned her eyes at us for a moment and we didn't dare question the intent of that look. Good or bad, we were attending that luau. We decided to walk down to the restaurant at the gate where cruisers come ashore to see the sites and buy mementos. It is a totally open-air restaurant Dad had suggested. We were escorted to a table at the seaside railing in the far-left corner. For some reason the waiter asked if we were celebrating a special occasion. I asked why he asked that question and he said, "you two seem too happy to not be celebrating something." I looked at Peyton and he looked up at the waiter and replied, "actually we got married two weeks ago and we are on our honeymoon." `How nice!" We ordered the burgers they are famous for and the fresh cut fries. The waiter got our drinks and turned in our order. Shortly afterward he came back with an appetizer of onion rings. We both had ordered the Royal Ali'i Cheeseburger topped with an egg and two strips of bacon. Peyton and I both said it more than lived up to its reputation. For a change up, we both got a coke to drink. For desert, we shared a sinfully good chocolate lava cake. As we finished our food, Jaiden took my hands and said the Birkat Hamazon, or the Jewish blessing said after the meal. When he had finished the prayer, two men from adjoining tables got up and walked over to our table. "Gentlemen, please excuse our intrusion on your meal time, I am Rabbi Kravitz and this is Rabbi Gelman. We know you are Jewish by the prayer you just offered to Hashem, that is a given. It's just so uncommon for us to see young Jewish men saying such a prayer in public. By offering your prayer, you made yourselves examples to our children of what is expected of them, and we wished to thank you for being such mentors to them." "Rabbis, would mind sitting with us for just a moment?" "It would be an honor." "I am Jaiden Riley-Reynolds and this is my spouse and the love of my life, Peyton-Riley Reynolds, we were married just two weeks ago along with two of our friends, Dale Leonard-Anderson and Charley Lenard Anderson. Our parents gave us a three-week honeymoon and vacation before Peyton and I begin medical school. Dale and Charlie will be attending the Engineering Master's program at Penn State University." "The prayer you heard was a tribute to my Dad, Dr. Richard Anderson who was a pediatric oncologist at St. Jude Medical Center until he was killed in a plane crash in Africa where he was on a medical sabbatical helping sick children there. It was also in honor of my grandfather, Rabbi Abraham Dovid Anderson, who was an Orthodox Rabbi prior to his death." "I was raised to be respectful to everyone in every situation. The same is true for Peyton whose family is also Jewish. You have honored us by observing our Jewish heritage and traditions and we thank you for that. That we could be a blessing to your children is a further mitzvah to and in honor of Hashem, and we are more than grateful that you and your families gave us that opportunity." "Dale, the friend I mentioned to you, looked at my grandfather's picture on the wall in my Mom's den. He stood there staring at it, so, I asked him if he was interested in the picture and he said yes. So I told him who the old man in the picture was. He kept staring at the picture for a few more moments. Peyton's Rabbi, Rabbi Schlottman, spoke to him about having a wedding with Peyton and I under the Chuppah and asked how he became so interested in converting to Judaism. Dale looked at him and said `the picture spoke to me'" "We got married the weekend after Dale saw the picture and in that weeks' time, the amount of Hebrew he learned was astounding. When we stood under the Chuppah, he held Charley's hands and recited the Jewish wedding prayer verbatim in flawless Hebrew. I wish you could meet and talk with Dale." "Mr. Anderson, we would be delighted to meet Dale and Charley, just tell us when and where." "How about tomorrow night over cake and coffee, and, please, bring your families. By the way, it is Jaiden and Peyton and Dale and Charley. There's no need to be formal with us. We are at the Kaanapali Resort in Suite 500-A. We'll see you and your families at 8 tomorrow night." "We will see you then. Gentlemen." As the Rabbis returned to their tables, paid their bills, and left, Peyton said "WOW! They were awesome. I wonder where they minister?" "I don't know, but we can ask them tomorrow night." "Well, I guess we should pay our bill and finish walking Front Street. The waiter came to our table and we asked for our bill. He looked at us and said, "Gentlemen, the manager loved the story of your recent wedding and that you were eating with us on your honeymoon. You could have eaten at a posher restaurant. As for your bill, the manager comped half your bill. Somebody else paid for the rest of your meal and said for me to wish you a lifetime of joy and happiness together. We all sincerely hope you have a lifetime of blessings and happiness, and may the meaning of Shalom forever be your mantra." Apparently, word had somehow gotten around the restaurant that we were on our honeymoon. When we got up to leave, a rousing round of applause erupted. We both teared up and when the applause died down, we thanked everyone for their support and wished them a lifetime of peace, joy, and love. We walked down one side of Front Street browsing in every store we saw. Many of the items we looked at we could get at home for about half the price; however, the friendliness of the people would be hard to find stateside. We resisted the ice cream shop so we could stop at the shaved ice store on the way back up the other side of the street. The artistry in the leather shop was awesome, but again, much cheaper stateside. Many of the shops were clothing stores carrying the same goods as the stateside stores at home. The most unique shop of all the shops was John and his brothers photo gallery. Their pictures are truly eye-popping. Peyton and I got a Hawaiian Blue shaved ice and sat under the banyan tree enjoying our treat and some private time. I asked Peyton to call Dale and Charley to see if they wanted to walk down to Front Street and meet us for dinner at Fleetwood's. While we weren't born during the genre of Fleetwood Mac, we knew Charley loved Fleetwood Mac's music so we are waiting to watch him discover who owns the restaurant. He is going to flip-out. We were sitting on a bench outside Fleetwood's when Charley and Dale walked up. Sure enough, Charley's eyes almost popped out of his head when he saw the restaurant and looked at the proprietor's name. From that point on, we had the best time watching Charley's excitement. The dinner was delectable and expensive, but to watch Charley's reaction from getting to meet one of `THE' Fleetwood's from Fleetwood Mac: priceless. His reaction made everybody's week. It was getting dark as we walked back to the resort, but the long walk made up for the runs we had missed. When we got to the suite, Charley and Dale went to their room and, poor Dale, was listening to Charley rant about getting to meet one of his all-time favorite musicians. We got a picture of the two for Charley to show his Mom and Dad. As for Peyton and I, I slowly removed his clothes and then he removed mine. Then I took him by the hand and led him out on the balcony to the chase lounge chair where I sat down and had him sit on my legs instead of between them. The cool, misty salt air blowing across our bodies was amazingly comfortable. There was no one on the beach, so we didn't have to worry about anybody seeing anything. I started rubbing Peyton's chest and stomach areas and must have done that for an hour or more. Without thinking, I had moved to his nether region and continued palming upward and fingers gripping on the downswing. Peyton had his face turned toward the ocean watching the waves and a few whales breaching in the moonlight. He didn't say a word as I felt his body tense and his orgasm hit full-force. We didn't try to clean up, rather we sat there in a warm embrace and enjoyed some of the most intimate time we've had since we got to Maui. When Peyton's orgasm hit, that sent me over the edge. I leaned to our right and gave Peyton a kiss on the side of his face. He reached back to our right and rubbed my hair and said, "Jaiden, I love you too!" We sat on the chase lounge chair for maybe another hour when a light rain started. It was so enjoyable sitting in the misty rain holding each other without saying a word. I got up and drew a warm bath in the tub and went back and picked up Peyton and gently put him in the bath. I crawled in behind him and we soaked for a while with the jets on. I soaped up a bath cloth and bathed every part of Peyton and then bathed myself. One thing I enjoy after our baths together is getting to pat his body dry with a soft, plush towel. I get to see, feel, and smell every part of his body in an intoxicating sort of way. Weird, maybe; but I adore everything about Peyton's body. Sleek, fit, tanned, he is just so damned good looking. After I had patted him dry, I laid him in the bed with his head propped up on several pillows and then climbed into bed and cuddled with him while we watched movies on Cinemax about non-traditional families. At some point, we dozed off and when we woke up it was 9 am the next morning. We got with Dale and Charley and headed down to the resort restaurant where we all got the banana and macadamia nut waffles with fresh coffee. It was fresh Maui Coffee that is as good as Kona coffee any day of the week. To top off the breakfast of unbelievably great waffles, we got some fresh strawberries to dip in brown sugar to go with our coffee. Talk about breakfast heaven, we were in it. We went to Costco to get a cake to serve the Rabbis and their families tonight. We also went to a coffee shop on the coffee plantation to get the freshest roasted coffee possible. We wanted to add another finger food to the cake and since we saw fresh, ripe figs at Costco, we got a few dozen figs, a bag of dates, goat cheese, and honey. About 7 pm we removed the stems from the figs and cut them into quarters without cutting all the way through them and pipped goat cheese into the figs. We put them in the oven about 7:50 pm to broil for about 5 minutes until the cheese started to brown slightly. Earlier in the day, we had chopped some dates very finely and cooked them with about a half cup of honey to drizzle over the figs when they came out of the oven. At 8 pm on the dot, there was a knock at the door. Peyton opened the door and the Rabbis and their wives were standing in the doorway with 4 little boys tagging along. "Please, come in and make yourselves at home." "Charley, Dale, this is Rabbi and Rebbetzin Kravitz and Rabbi and Rebbetzin Belson. The children I have not yet met." Dale and Charley introduced themselves to the Rabbis and their wives. Rabbi Kravitz introduced his sons as David, Jacob, Aaron, and Levi. "Boys it is our joy to meet each of you, welcome to our temporary home." "Rabbi Kravitz, at which shul do you minister?", Jaiden asked. "Jaiden I am the Rabbi at Temple Anshe Hesed in Erie, Pennsylvania." Tears rolled from Jaiden's eyes at that point and he excused himself and walked out on the balcony for a moment. I went out and checked on him and asked if he was ok. "Peyton, love, I have been davening for three weeks for Hashem to lead us to a synagogue that could be our spiritual home, and He sends the Rabbi to me in Hawaii of all places." I walked him back to the kitchen table and Jaiden apologized for having to excuse himself. Rabbi Kravitz said, "Jaiden, when I told you where I ministered as the Rabbi, tears began coming from your eyes and you went outside to compose yourself. What, may I ask, brought on those tears?" Jaiden teared up again when he replied, "Rabbi I have been davening over three weeks for Hashem to lead us to an accepting synagogue that could and would be our spiritual home, where Dale would be accepted and be able to attend conversion classes. What you didn't know is that Peyton and I will be attending LECOM in Erie." "I asked Hashem to lead us to an accepting synagogue and what does He do? He sends the Rabbi to me in Hawaii of all places. So many blessings have occurred of late in our lives that it is a bit overwhelming for me." Peyton and I graduated from Wellstone university at the end of May. We were the first co-valedictorians in the University's history. That was the first of 8 `first-ever' events at the university. I might add that we graduated a year early after being told by the University President that we would be taking clep exams for all of our remaining classes. We scored the highest ever in Wellstone history on those exams." "The second `first-ever' event was Peyton giving the shortest valedictorian speech in Wellstone history and getting the most thunderous reaction ever from those present. The third first-ever was the president announcing that Peyton and I would be the first-ever co-valedictorians in Wellstone's history to marry each other. The fourth first-ever event was the announcement that we were being honored with a full-ride scholarship to medical school at LECOM." The fifth first-ever was that Dale and Charley were being awarded a full-ride scholarship to the Masters of Engineering program at Penn State's campus near Erie, meals included. "Dale and Charley were having hard times in their relationship, times that were affecting their college career as well. Peyton jumped their case extremely hard and laid down some laws which they followed to the tee. They went from nearly failing to a 3.8 GPA in two years. And our love, our becoming brothers by choice, was born." "We both worked hard with them on that." The Governors of North Carolina and Pennsylvania presented them with their scholarships. Then the mayors of Pensacola and Milton, Florida came forward and told them enough funds were raised by the residents of their communities to pay for three years' worth of meals. Charlie and Dale started to walk back to their parents when the mayors called them back to the lectern to announce that through several benefactors and the citizens of their communities, enough money was also raised to pay off their college loans and that had already been done." The sixth first-ever was the mayor of their home cities signing proclamations declaring graduation day Dale Anderson Day and Charles Leonard Day. As the president was about to release everyone at the conclusion of the graduation exercises, he told everybody to hold on for a few minutes that he had been asked by another individual to present a video to the graduation class. A video began showing a split-level house with a beautifully manicured landscape and beautifully decorated rooms. The president had Peyton and I watch the video with him. Toward the end of the video, a man appeared and began to say, "Jaiden and Peyton, the house you just saw on the video, well, the house is yours. Share it with Dale and Charley as you each work toward completing your education at LECOM and Penn State." "Rabbi, when the man said that, I fainted. Luckily, Peyton caught me before I hit the floor. My Mom, being a doctor, shoved smelling salts under my nose and awakened me. That was the seventh first-ever to occur at Wellstone." "The president launched into an announcement to encourage everyone to be careful on their rides home when Peyton's Uncle, the Dean of Men, approached the President, stopped his announcement and handed him a large manila envelope." "Ladies and Gentlemen, if you will bear with us for a moment, I have just been informed there is an eighth first-ever to be announced, and I doubt the records set today will ever be broken. He then called Dale and Charley to the lectern one last time, Dale took Charley to the side of the lectern, got down on one knee and beautifully asked Charley to marry him. The rest is history." "Jaiden, you mentioned you and Peyton have a home in Erie. May I ask where that home is." "Yes, sir, the house is at 5860 Landings Way." Rabbi looked at his wife and both were in total disbelief. "Jaiden, the Rebbetzin and I live at 5862 Landings Way." Jaiden started to sob uncontrollably. When he composed himself enough to speak, he said, "Rabbi, I fell on my knees during an early evening mountain walk with my Mom and screamed "Hashem, what have I done to deserve all this." Peyton heard my scream a mile away and ran that mile in record time. Here I am again asking that same question." "Jaiden, I believe Hashem is blessing you for mitzvahs you have performed. That is the only thing I can think of and I believe Hashem has told me that." "WOW!" This is really a lot to comprehend and wrap my head around. Speaking of wrapping my head around something, we have cake, some orderves, and coffee to enjoy. Peyton set the coffee and cups on the table with sugar and cream, and Stevia for me and anyone else who may want it. He put a spoon with each cup and each type of sweetener. When he put the cake on the table, the boys interest peaked and they came running into the dining room. With their parent's permission, Peyton gave each of them a slice of cake and a glass of milk which he sat on the coffee table in the living room. The Rabbis were intensively interested when Peyton pulled the figs, and the honey-date sauce from the oven. That was something everybody, even the boys, enjoyed. Rabbi Kravitz said the last time he had those, his grandmother had made them prior to her death. We talked for maybe another hour before we called it a night and the Rabbis and their families headed to their hotels. I told the Rabbis I would see them around the first of August when we fully moved into the house. I also told him if he saw an older black lady at the house to yell, "Good Morning, Ginny" and watch her expression, that she had raised me from birth until I started high school. It is going to be so neat to get into our new home, form a relationship with our new Rabbi and his family and to immerse ourselves, when we can, into the activities at the synagogue. What an awesome night!
